Advice When it’s the woman who has the money in the family (whether extended family as the matriarch,  or whether it’s just between the couple) things take a turn,  often an abrupt turn.  The man whose wife is the breadwinner is often the disgruntled and frustrated man no matter how devoted (and no matter how generous) the woman who supports him is.  Then,  of course,  sometimes the woman comes into money and uses it to buy her freedom from her place in the tribe.   How many men wonder whether their wives would leave home if they had the money to?

(At the time of production,  there’s no way to correct the lack of spaces after punctuation.  I am writing around it now!)

Is this the first time you come here?  Well …  what to do:

*Go to Advice (above ) which is a summary of the Messages. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)

*Go to Group Analytical Tarot Reading below.  One or more of those sentences has something to say to you.  Intuitively pick those out and decide whether to encourage or suppress them.  They are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it.  (It is a group message like a horoscope,  except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data,  so it can be specific,  accurate,  detailed and direct.  Our experiment here is  “How much more accurate is it?”)

Did you come here for your predictions? –  You are done now –  See you tomorrow.

Without a question to focus the answer,  four cards can mean contradictory things,  especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards.  Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible,  especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads.  When a pronoun is in parentheses,  feel very free to substitute.  The question in a  ‘real’  individual reading supplies at least half the information!

Eight of Cups

King of Wands –  Four of Wands –  Queen of Pentacles

King of Wands is Husband,  Four of Wands is marriage or married.  Queen of Pentacles is the woman who supports and/or cares for her man,  husband or family.  She has money of her own.  Eight of Cups is an abrupt detour,  quitting,  walking out,  moving out,  leaves and abandons.

There is not much wiggle room here.  The story line is laid out.  It’s not Christmas Eve material.  However,  the other spreads I put down when I considered giving this one up said the same story,  so here we go.

King of Wands is the husband,  the married man,  the angry or irritated or frustrated man,  the macho man with the bad temper.  He is also the working man,  the common hands-on skilled worker.  His illustration shows a tense redhead with a stick in one hand and the other halfway clenched.  Salamanders around him are symbolic of a ‘fiery nature.’

Four of Wands shows a social-registry wedding which is a community event.  This is about marriage,  spouse,  family,  Company,  even native country –  about membership in the human group.

Queen of Pentacles supports her man,  supports the family,  has money of her own,  is the matriarch,  is the backer.  She owns land or an enterprise or an estate,  yet is seen as the paramour rather than the independent woman.  She is pictured with her hands on the money,  a witchy goats-head throne,  bunnies for fertility.  She can be possessive of her man,  and she is sometimes a bookkeeper  (keeper of the money).

Eight of Cups I’m outa here.  It’s over before it begins.  Detour.  Abrupt change of direction usually due to outside influences.  Dropping out,  walking out,  unfinished business.  Illustrated by the (traditionally) pilgrim making a turn in his journey because the terrain forces it.

This is about my friend. She got a really good freelance job, and her bum boyfriend has been taking advantage of her financially. She kicked him to the curb a couple of days ago.

  2. Lori

Dead on, I think my ex left me because he was no longer the bread winner and found some young chirpie (at the liquor store) who was impressed that he wore a suit to work. It has been 3 years now, and it’s time to move on-but this helps frame the fact that it really wan’t about me but his own insecurities.
    Merry Christmas Emily and All!

    • Merry Christmas to you, too.

I too supported husbands, both of whom had more education than I and more opportunity than I. Men get snarly when their woman is making money unless they can pick it out of her G-string. (I have a client who told me about the G-string thing.) Since the breadwinning spouse is a threat to his leadership, he just has to cow her … has to be the bull and browbeat her. It’s human instinct which is mammalian instinct. As a game ranch owner, I observe The Mammal Thing up close.

There are exceptions to this of course. I imagine John Lennon with Yoko Ono was one. An older man (sixties) who is disabled in some way who marries a woman to take care of him, and who has a retirement or disability income: I have met a few of those couples who are exceptions.

I don’t know what this spread today is about but I guess we’ll find out

  4. This is starting 2 get confusing..n for the last few days the readings have been right on about my ex and his new girl friend(the 1 he left me 4) says she is expecting his child and r getting married? I m not gonna hold my breathe hoping for a change in plans. She is overprotective and insecure but he likes that about her. And she takes care of him which I never needed 2.

    • Perchance you are the woman who can take care of herself which intimidates the dude, since you say what he likes about Other Woman is her insecurity.

Like I said yesterday, we date pieces of people while we put the puzzle together. Did you read that? I thought that was fairly brilliantly written, myself.
