Our Daily Spread for January 14, 2012 Saturday©

Advice What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, they say. Today we take on that long slow hard row to hoe that is somewhere in most everyone’s life. Overcoming in that department is a major triumph, a triumph that is shared with a loved one if the challenge one person faces is connecting with another in a loving way. A long-awaited victory over a past failure is shared with a partner.

Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:

*Go to Advice (above ) which is a summary of the Messages. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)

*Go to Group Analytical Tarot Reading below.  One or more of those sentences has something to say to you.  Intuitively pick those out and decide whether to encourage or suppress them.  They are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it.  (It is a group message like a horoscope,  except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data,  so it can be specific,  accurate,  detailed and direct.  Our experiment here is  “How much more accurate is it?”)

Did you come here for your predictions? –  You are done now –  See you tomorrow.

Without a question to focus the answer,  four cards can mean contradictory things,  especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards.  Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible,  especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads.  When a pronoun is in parentheses,  feel very free to substitute.  The question in a  ‘real’  individual reading supplies at least half the information!

Five of Cups
Lovers – Ten of Wands – Ace of Swords

What hits you first as an experienced reader in this spread is: Here are the two cards whose primary meanings are depression. Ten of Wands is the burden on your back, slow going, too much to bear, taking on the whole burden. Five of Wands: Oh God, I wish I had never. Depression. Wishing I had not. How things would have been if only. Regret. Mourning. Bereavement. Heartsick and homesick. Haunted by the past.
“Nothing good can come from these two.” Except making it through the night, because Ten of Wands means slow going, hard going, but you do get there, you do make it.

Lovers indicates the source of grief has to do with a/the loved one or a connection or contact. Ace of Swords just magnifies what we already have on the table. It means ‘absolutely,’ win/lose victory/defeat conquering or overcoming. And triumphing.

Once again, Five of Cups haunts this spread. Regret for the past, depression. Its mood is pervasive on the surrounding cards.

Lovers A complex illustration births disparate meanings. Protection (which becomes insurance with the Ace of Swords which means a threat). Any form of connection or contact or attachment (including mechanical attachments). To stand next to or stand with, to be together or joint or in partnership with. Divine or angelic protection or interest. Love affair and love relationship with passion (the volcano). In business, it is a partnership. In investment, it is joint interest. In litigation, it could be a codefendant or two claimants.

Its illustration in the Rider Waite (and just about any other) deck shows Adam and Eve, two people who are partners and lovers, with a volcano between them. Eve has her tree with the snake in it and Adam gets the tree of life. An angel is above them which brings the idea of protection. God of course is inherent in the pictured scene. The sunshine and greenery give the card a positive spin.

Ten of Wands
Doing it all in one trip, one load, doing it the hard way, taking on a huge project, slow going, chronic or long term condition or state, being so tired, exhausting, overwhelming or overwhelmed, depression. Simple illustration for all this in Rider Waite Tarot is a fellow loaded down with all the wood he can possibly handle, still making progress to where he is going.

Ace of Swords Main message is victory, triumph, overcoming, winning definitively. Remember that the other side in a definitive win suffers a definitive loss, which the Delphic oracle did not remind an ancient general of when he and his army stopped by wanting to know the outcome of his invasion of Persia. It means being strong, doing something the hard way, asserting or aggression, force, must and have to, absolute, a mandate or command.

Illustration is a hand holding a sword upright which is crowned with the Roman victory laurel. The flakes above the handle mean something to occultists, but I forget what exactly.

Five of Cups
Haunted by the past, sick with regret or bereavement or grief for a significant loss. Just being depressed, so depressed you are oblivious to what you do have going for you. Five of Pentacles feels this way too. Hope I don’t get a spread with both of them! The spilled wine suggests a waste.

Thanks Emily for these predictions. 14th January happens to be my birthday. i saw the cards for 14th Jan and also gone through your predictions. These predictions are very much close to the phase i was going through in my professional life.

    • Thank you for letting me know this. Your birthday one, I agree with you, has more meaning for you than just any other day’s. This blog is being improved by a cyber person. Will even have two sample readings, verbatim, on it! My voice and the client’s. She chose these two from her library of Emily tapes.

Have a great year. You are welcome to the Three six Nine Twelve Club on Facebook. The link i on this page. At 3 6 9 and 12 a.m. and p.m., we uphold one another’s best life, including prosperity, and suppress each other’s bad times.

  2. Fridays and Saturdays spread gave me chills. Its precise… . In regards to my ex boyfriend and his girlfriend .. we are having the greatest love affair, (after a six year relationship he up and left me for her. So this began one month into their new relationship .To me it felt as if it were back on). she got pregnant then she lost the baby …and now she is four months expecting baby boy.. The ones that I pick up on hit right on the target.. She grieves the loss of their first child, but this spread gives me hope. With time they will overcome it with the love of another. I will lose the one I loved most but I too in time will heal.. just the thought of it hurts but the guilt over the pain our affair and my big mouth caused to others is overwhelming. Commenting today cause I have no words to explain it. doesn’t happen with every spread but when it does its something else. Thanks Emily

I sure hope so! Did we really fail?

    • It’s not always our failure that bites us: It could be another person’s story, and it could be random fallout of earthly processes. Whatever it is, a good look at it is the best tool to limit its perpetuation.

  4. Lori

So much of this speaks to me and fills me with hope. I feel the anticipation and excitement of my new life even as I wrap up the tattered remains of the old life. Like a child at Christmas I just want it to start already 🙂

    • It is starting already. Hope is grounded in a good look at the parts we don’t want to take with us as we pack the parts we are going ahead with.

  5. Don’t we wish the past were waiting for us to drop in on the parts we would like to revisit! Simple things even, like the groceries I could buy that were cheaper and better – ah, the vegetables! – in Florida.

Like the pets who don’t live here anymore. Like the good times with the deceased husband. And like the body I had when I was 43.

Like you said … oh, well …

  6. Anna

Yes, I’m grieving in the back of my mind. I thought I would like change, and I do, but there is sadness too.
