Tarot Readings for you for October 9, 2014 Thursday©

GUIDANCE     Today we stand on the narrow bridge between our conscious and our subconscious mind to catch the moment that a decision to act becomes the action.  The synapses in our brain pathways get traffic, and we make a move.  But it isn’t always an action; sometimes it’s a realization, a thought, an inspiration, or maybe a daydream.  Once in a while it’s a psychic awareness or psychic impression.  We designate that ‘paranormal’ because our definition of ‘normal’ has been slanted by all the times we were kids and ‘saw things’ and ‘knew things’ that the grownups told us were our imagination.  Imagination is real, see?  That thin bridge can be expanded to a superhighway with a little practice on a normal day, day after day.   (Grownups will still tell you it’s your imagination, and that’s okay.)

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………        Hanged Man, the inspired idea … Magician, to do something … Temperance together. Hanged Man, the urge … Magician to start … Temperance, a relationship. This is the story, and not much else.

………………………..    Hanged Man illustrates what it feels like to be in the groove and get a sudden new perspective that reinterprets what you know already. The Muse does that to you: Your subconscious awareness has lit a match, and your consciousness awareness is going full bore, you are turned on, and you feel upside down with your hair on fire. Your brains are scrambled. Realization and realize are Hanged Man’s most common words.

Hindsight (I coulda had a V-8!), foresight (I saw it coming!), eureka, deja vu, telepathy, psychic impression, getting it … these belong to Hanged Man. It’s a great place to be visited by. Hanged Man is of course one of the subconscious cards. It refers to instinct, extrasensory awarenesses, and the reflexive mode that you slip into by doing something automatically for a while. It refers to the urge to act that is triggered by inner awareness that this is the moment. It refers to an idea striking suddenly, in whole cloth, that is a letter from your subconscious: Eureka!

………………………..       Magician is doing it and being the person who did, or does, it. He is about action because the authors of Rider Waite believed in a formula about how things develop or unfold. This formula assigns action to the number 1, which is considered the male principle. Tarot Verbatim™ has no theory to create its meanings; its meanings were and are discovered and forged in the field. But Magician, with its illustration of the upraised wand by which the fellow is making something happen, means what those authors meant it to mean.

Magician means to initiate or start, which evolves into meaning ‘to volunteer.’ Other words for this Tarot card are ‘to bring about’ or ‘bring down’ and ‘myself’ or ‘do it yourself.’ Of course, it refers to the doing of something as well, without identifying a doer.

………………………..      Temperance is one of the cards added in the Middle Ages in Europe to deflect the death penalty (from the Roman Catholic clerics) for witchcraft. Temperance is about diluting wine with water, considered a virtuous attempt to avoid getting high. However, in Tarot Verbatim, seldom is ‘dilution’ its word. Instead, the back-and-forth mixing becomes communication and relationship – closeness, therefore intimacy. It is about responding back and forth. (Yes, he calls you; yes the job you applied for gets in touch with you.) Its main meaning is relationship, and ‘deal’ or ‘dealing with’ is a close second. Intimate partners, and the partnership or partner is also a frequent application. Temperance is ‘us’ and ‘we’ and ‘involved in’ and ‘getting along together.

Here are some incidental or rarer meanings for Temperance: Occasionally, it is about healing because of a symbol on the angel’s chest. If you have other cards with angels on them, Temperance can bolster that theme. It means ‘involved in’ and ‘together’ and ‘the two of us’ or ‘the two of them.’ Temperance is also getting along famously together. It translates ‘with me,’ or whatever other pronoun is up for grabs – even ‘with us.’

……….…………..             Hanged Man and Magician     Hanged Man and Magician describes an idea, or an inspiration, to do something. It means ‘inspired act’ or ‘inspired action.’ Hanged Man can be an impulse or an instinctive urge, so add Magician you get ‘the urge to do.’ Whenever you get that urge, it turns out that was the very best moment to have done that. Sending someone the idea to do something – telepathy – belongs to this pair, too.

………..…………..                 Hanged Man and Temperance     Hanged Man and Temperance The idea, or the urge, to be intimate, these two say. Telepathy to someone you want to pair up with. An inspired idea about how to deal with someone or maybe something. Realizing two people are a couple.

……..……………     Magician and Temperance      Magician and Temperance He starts the relationship. He makes the deal. An act of intimacy. We do something together. He is the active partner. It’s a done deal.

Relationships – all kinds of them – start out as ideas. Actions start out as ideas too. ‘Most everyone has looked at an animal or person and sent ‘vibes’ to behave in a certain way. We instinctively do that. We don’t let ourselves delve into that because it violates the normalcy bias that ‘you can’t do that.’ We are looking into the nuts and bolts of the birth of association and the birth of action in today’s missive. This birth happens in the tiny bridge between our conscious programmed-by-the-machine mind and our free-of-all-that subconscious, so you have to be lookin’ for these births to see them.

Hanged Man    ………       Puzzling illustration, right off the bat. It’s one of the subconscious cards. It depicts the way a person feels whose subconscious has dropped an idea into his normal awareness that isn’t, shall we say ‘logical’? Lipstick on the collar abruptly makes you relive twenty scenes with husband. Hindsight gives you a big hint. A new perspective makes a ‘who’d-a-thunk-it’ moment right there while you are brushing your teeth. That kind of experience. Suddenly you recognize that that car keeps appearing when you are on the road, so it’s following you. We tend to erase that moment because instinct talked to us and we don’t acknowledge that; we think it’s paranormal because they told us so when we were toddlers and ‘saw things.’ The feeling it depicts is the rush of thought (hair on fire, brains scrambled – the energy halo around the fellow’s head) – when your perspective suddenly shifts many degrees and you are on an entirely different level, for at least that moment, than you were. That moment can be a stepping stone, and is very likely to be un-remembered precisely because it undoes the way we have organized our reality.

So Hanged Man means things like: realize, recognize, get it, inspiration, inspired idea, idea strikes. It refers to any experience or awareness that we categorize as paranormal because of our artificial normalcy bias: eureka, deja vu, telepathy, hindsight, foresight, psychic impressions, catching on or getting it, and, say, the meaning of a dream. Hanged Man is the muse, and Muse’s inspiration is not just about art.

.

Magician     ………….      You see a fellow who is creating with his upraised magic wand (which can be interpreted as willpower) – one hand to heaven, the other to the ground, affecting some event or action. In Rider Waite, Magician is ‘male principle of action’ by reason of being the ‘1.’ That turns out to be its meaning, because of the illustration, in Tarot Verbatim™. Magician is about action – doing and making and taking initiative. Magician is also about males. Although it can talk about the action anyone or anything did or does, it will never personally represent anything female, just as High Priestess, the female principle of receptivity as a ‘2,’ will never represent personally anything male. Tarot Verbatim honors these concepts that the authors of the Rider Waite deck had in mind only because the illustrations do express that idea, in the field.

.

Temperance     ……….       Another puzzling illustration: An angel, wings outspread, is pouring liquids back and forth between two vessels. You can see it sometimes as ‘dealing with me’ or even ‘dealing with us.’
