Tarot Readings for You for November 22, 2014 Saturday©

GUIDANCE            Just about all of us have this tight-in-the-gut feeling about certain situations. It’s the same feeling but for different reasons, all of which have to do with ‘not enough.’ We connect these up, here: First is when we just keep quiet about something, just lay low when something is up. ‘No comment.’ Then there’s that nagging feeling it’s not fair, we aren’t getting our due. Then there’s the inner conflict about whether to make an issue, whether to stand up for what we think is right … or not … and not doing it, but with discomfort. ‘It’s not worth fighting with him/her about,’ we say in our gut. Then there’s that ‘I can’t afford that’ or even ‘I can’t afford myself this month.’ We point out this nagging feeling is the same ‘not enough’ bad feeling – same symptom for different seasons. There’s a whiff of a suggestion to just let loose of counting how fair our situations are, or aren’t, and save ourselves the grief of these bad feelings.

Tarot Readings: Lay Low, Keep Quiet (Nine of Wands and Four of Pentacles)

You should keep the secret no matter how they pressure you.

Things aren’t quite right … you can feel it.

You should hang in there and keep quiet about it.

Under pressure to keep quiet about what is right.

You should lay low when ‘something is up.’

Cops threaten people to keep quiet.

Don’t justify your position, just shut up.

I don’t let myself come to the defense of how I feel things should be.

Tarot Readings: Getting What’s Coming to You (Nine of Wands and Justice)

Getting what I deserve is no threat.

Deep down I’m superstitious about getting what’s coming to me.

Defensive about how I am not deserving.

When we get less than our fair share, we seethe.

Not much justice for me, I have to look out for myself.

Getting less than what you are entitled to for defending the country.

I am standing up for my right to something that is being withheld from me.

Unjustly accused.

Tarot Readings: Not Defending, Not Standing Up (Justice and Four of Pentacles)

Not doing as much as I should makes me feel accused.

There’s not much in it for you to defend how something ought to be.

Well, I have not stood up for what’s right as much as I should have.

I should not be so defensive.

Not about to stand up for what is right.

I hesitate to sue because it is so stressful.

Tarot Readings: Hang in There About the Money (Nine of Wands and Four of Pentacles)

Not having the money you should is a bad feeling.

Hang in there, that budget will get balanced.

You don’t make much money being a bailiff (guarding court proceedings).

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Nine of Wands – Justice – Four of Pentacle

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………      Our star card (the one the others intimately connect to) is Nine of Wands, who has fought and won and has the bandages to prove it, who is still on duty on the same border, uneasy about another skirmish. Put him next to what’s right, Justice, and ‘not enough of it,’ Four of Pentacles, and you have stories, many of them about ‘sins of omission’ – about not having done the right thing.

………………………..        Nine of Wands hanging in there when it’s not the place you want to be. It’s about manning the Alamo – manning the fort when there’s no glory or no reward in taking the right position. Justice emphasizes this part of Nine of Wands’ meaning – dutifully defending when underpaid for it. Well, that’s the heavy end of Nine of Wands.

Sometimes Nine of Wands is being put on the spot, being uneasy or embarrassed. It can be literally guarding something, or feeling guarded, since the fellow in the illustration is a border guard. Nine of Wands also stands up for what he believes and takes the flak for it.

Sometimes Nine of Wands is saying “Hang in there” to the person in your story.

………………………..      Justice is when things are right, are the way they are supposed to be … from a particular person’s perspective. When what you know is right conflicts with what you feel in your gut is right, you have this Nine of Wands feeling we have been talking about. Justice (along with Hierophant) translates and ‘should’ and ‘ought’ frequently.

Justice is rights as well as right. What you are entitled to, or entitlement itself. Fairness. The scales give Justice the ‘balance’ meaning. This card will translate ‘straight’ in the sense of dealing straight. Only if the exact question is about sexual orientation will Justice, as a rule, mean ‘straight’ in the slang sense of heterosexual.

Naturally, this Justice card refers to laws, rules, regulations and regulators, police, lawyers and prosecutors, courts, tribunals, etc. – anything to do with any of that.

……………………..      Four of Pentacles’ illustration brings on quite a few different meanings. The ‘not enough’ spectrum is used today. Keeping quiet, keeping your head down and not expressing how you feel also apply to today’s situations. The budget and being short of money do too. Four of Pentacles ‘internal’ meanings link up to the angst Nine of Wands is feeling, making that feeling more private and even more subject to restraint than it is in Nine of Wands.

………..…………     Nine of Wands and Justice Nine of Wands and Justice combine angst with fairness, entitlement and (doing) the right thing. Tension about the way things are as contrasted to the way they ought to be: Sound familiar? Hanging in there (Nine of Wands) because it is the right thing (Justice). Holding your ground (Nine of Wands) because you are right (but it’s not popular). Under fire (Nine of Wands) for being right … ‘No good deed goes unpunished’? Justice can be duty sometimes, so Nine of Wands and Justice describe a soldier’s duty under fire as well as standing up for something and ‘taking your lumps,’ as they say. Think the Alamo and other sorry situations in which fighting men’s lives were sacrificed. x..

………..…………... Nine of Wands and Four of Pentacles Nine of Wands and Four of Pentacles eloquently describe that tight-in-the-gut feeling of not having enough money. These two Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim also are about being quiet under duress, with Nine of Wands obviously being under duress. They say things like ‘You should keep the secret no matter how they pressure you’ and ‘You can just feel how things aren’t quite right.’ They describe someone intimidated into silence, quite literally say simply ‘a tight feeling in your gut.’ These two Tarot cards also can advice a person not to justify him- or her- self, to just shut up or shut down. Nine of Wands and Four of Pentacles depict restraining yourself from coming to the defense of a deeply held conviction. x..

………….………..      Justice and Four of Pentacles     Justice and Four of Pentacles is definitely *not getting what you deserve*, which can apply either way because Tarot Verbatim is a literal language-based system. Justice is what is deserved, and Four of Pentacles means ‘less than,’ so any way you couple these phrases in your individual spread will apply. For example: not as much as (I) should; nothing in it for me to do the right thing; have not stood up enough for the way this situation ought to be; and even ‘hesitate to sue.’ ‘Not getting my fair share’ is a basic application for these two cards in the Tarot Verbatim™ system   ..

In the real world, doing the right thing will often cost you dearly. This is probably why so many religions promise rewards in afterlife. Today we describe the gut feelings that go along with being impelled to do right in spite of rewards that are heavily weighed toward not. We kind of suggest doing what you believe is right is its own reward, that facing the flak is part of proving yourself to yourself as a valid entity: that having the guts is its own reward in the real world.

Nine of Wands ……… Nine of Wands is feeling the pressure, feeling accused or being accused, being or feeling guilty, being ‘put on the spot’ and defending your turf or your position. We see a border guard still on duty in spite of wounds he has not recovered from. ‘Hanging in there’ is a good way to remember Nine of Wands application.

.

Justice …………. Justice often translates: supposed to; ought; should; right; entitled; fair, fairness. Since self-interest usually defines an individual human’s idea of all these justice issues, you often find Justice in the heart of some conflict. That conflict, of course, is what law enforcement and court trials are all about.

Justice is about being entitled … ‘my rights’ … as well as ‘what’s right.’ So justice stands for ‘entitlement’ and ‘entitled’ too.

The scales of Justice in the picture make Justice be about balance too, and dealing fairly or straight, by the rules. Naturally anything to do with the law, and any people associated with law, are the province of this Tarot card.

.

Four of Pentacles ………. Four of Pentacles hunkers down. Not admitting. Keeping my feelings to myself. Deeply felt and not spoken. Secrets and not expressing those feelings. Feeling inferior, feeling cowed or intimidated socially. He is hanging onto his money, which brings out the ‘not enough’ spectrum of his many applications. Budget, being short of money, being stingy (Skinflint! Cheapskate!), not being paid enough.

I have to see how today goes. You mentioned always looking for the “relief” card, the antidote to this mess. Courage?

    • “There’s a whiff of a suggestion to just let loose of counting how fair our situations are, or aren’t, and save ourselves the grief of these bad feelings.”
St. Teresa d’Avila remarked that people only care about fairness or justice when it would benefit them, not when it would cost them. Not keeping track of, caring far less about: That’s one antidote to part of these stories. Another is ‘Damn the consequences.’ “Oh, I’m not supposed to talk about this? – well, hear me holler.” Both not caring about being treated fairly and not being cautious of consequences are part of the package of spiritual maturity – also of just plain old maturity. (Maturity is a four-letter word these days.)

      • Mary

I think I get what you are saying — the people who say “but what about me?” I think you always at least tried to be fair to others. Have you seen the experiments that show rats have an innate sense of fairness? Rats given access to chocolate chips would leave some for another rat. It was a video. I will ask my daughter where to find it.

        • Being fair is unrelated to expecting to be treated fairly by your definition of it. It’s one thing to treat others justly, and quite another to be so rash as to assume they will treat you that way, the human animal being as it is.
