GUIDANCE    Well, sometimes we chase the rainbow of riches for the sake of the chase (and our high energy). Sometimes we wait until things get so bad we have to leave. Sometimes, we get out in a hurry chasing something better. And of course, sometimes we miss the boat. We describe all four scenarios here, so you can be conscious of the process and make the best choice from now on.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

Wheel of Fortune – Six of Swords – Knight of Wands

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING and

              LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.………..………..……..…….. First, we are aware that both Six of Swords and Knight of Wands are leaving a bad scene for a hopefully better one. Six of Swords embraces a whole spectrum of that process, (even to meaning parts of it, like the sadness of leaving) and Knight of Wands also means some other things – like hurry, speed, quickly, etc. Nevertheless, together here, we have two cards about getting out of one and going to a better place. I could have put at least double the number of sentences here about that story, but it would not have added much interest.

And Wheel of Fortune emphasizes that, indeed, it is a much better place. Wheel of Fortune adds the element of an opportunity to leave, and that the leaving is actually happening.

Knight of Wands and Wheel of Fortune describe chasing wealth, getting rich quick, pursuing opportunity. Wheel of Fortune and Six of Swords describe missing the boat, passing up your big chance.

.Wheel of Fortune.Wheel of Fortune’s illustration bears some explanation. It is a word picture about how spiritual forces – good ones and bad ones – influence what happens in our very own earthly physical lives. If you think of it, that’s a tall order. The way the Tarot’s artist does that is first draw something that resembles ‘chance.’ What better than a roulette wheel? Wheel of Fortune’s common words are: happens, luck and lucky and lucky break, change, destiny, optimum (best, better), wonderful, gamble, chance, opportunity, event, jackpot, pays off and payoff.

The four Hebrew letters that represent what Westerners call ‘Jehovah’ represent stages of events in esoteric circles. These four letters that make the ‘Name of God’ in Hebrew are used in magic, arising from Kabbalah. The artist takes those four glyphs, and intersperses them with four letters, ROTA, that come from more than one ancient tradition, one of them being Apollo. (The two towers you see in Moon have something to do with that myth, too. They are about the end of the earth, where dragons live.) ROTA means wheel, and also means wheel of fortune. (We get ‘rotate’ from this root word.) Of course, in a circle, ROTA also reads TARO, and you see that written on the High Priestess’ book. The High Priestess also represents the deck itself. And that is where the tradition comes from that, when you choose a card to represent yourself, you must not choose High Priestess.

Then there are various good and bad nonphysical creatures around the wheel, with some clouds to represent the fact they are nonphysical. I don’t know about all of them. I suspect the books are about karma. I know the blue sphinx and the red lizard are bad guys. (I think William Rice Burroughs wrote about some creepy hallucinations he had about the red lizards.) But that’s enough to know that the idea depicted in Wheel of Fortune is that both divine and infernal beings influence human lives.

Six of Swords……….Six of Swords really occupies its turf well – in detail. It represents every possible nuance of leaving something behind, getting over something, mourning the departed, leaving a place, leaving a person (or being left behind), sadness, and ‘tomorrow is a better day,’ a hopeful feeling. Getting over some kind of ordeal or regret. (The regret is brought to the forefront by Five of Cups, of course.)

On a gray day, two figures (presumed to be mother and child) huddle in an open shallow little paddle-boat. Traditionally, the person helping them leave is a friend. They have no cargo, so are ‘leaving with the clothes on their backs.’ So there’s a somber mood to Six of Swords. (Some people say the disturbance in the water by the paddle, which of course is only on one side of the boat, echoes the idea of the bad scene not being the entire story.)

On the other hand, there’s a hopeful tone to Six of Swords as well: They are leaving, escaping, putting the awful experience, the awful place, behind. The future will be better, Six of Swords says. But, the future is only better because the past is so very dismal … anything is better than this.

Knight of Wands……….Knight of Wands (like Knight of Swords) is moving fast, and can be leaving or pursuing. His illustration (horse rearing, the discombobulated look on his face) is more compatible with fleeing than pursuing, but, nevertheless, hot pursuit belongs to Knight of Wands as well as getting out of Dodge. Both Knight of Swords and Knight of Wands are speeding, and therefore bring up words like: fast, quickly, speeding, rush (rush job, for instance), hurry, moving (moving on up, get moving, etc.) and so on.

Knight of Wands is energetic, and having the energy, and is motivation.

Today, paired with Six of Swords, Knight of Wands is mostly leaving, but Wheel of Fortune brings, strongly, the idea of pursuit of wealth and opportunity. Knight of Wands and Wheel of Fortune are also gambling at the horse races – and fast money.

.

Things change for the better when we get the energy to get out of where we are. We see both shunning opportunity and pursuing opportunity here. Things are definitely on the mend in today’s story. We are up and out.

.

.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:
