I do fine not paying attention to the mundane details, thank you very much.

Tarot Readings: Hermit and Fool

..

After I take a long hard analytical look, then I can ignore the b.s.

What you assume is true has repercussions (an invisible effect on you).

Looking for ways to forget that bloodsucker.

Look where you’re going and don’t get attached.

Had no idea the religious guy was such a crook.

That’s no honest person; it only seems that way.

You are so helpful and devoted that you don’t know when they are takers.

You don’t really know whether you’re sober when you’re under the influence.

There’s a hidden tax on ignoring the facts.

I don’t know what I’m looking for, but I suspect it found me.

I had no idea my friend knows someone else.

.

Tarot Readings: Hermit and Two of Cups

..

Being sincere and well-intentioned opens you up to people who take advantage.

Looking for where the ‘strings are attached’ so I can be free.

Never mind being honest; there are hidden fees to that.

I observe my subconscious is up to something sneaky.

Just looking for sex.

Whether it’s real or apparent, I don’t know.

Sex with an older man … why not?

Could be I’m taking advantage of someone who is looking out for me.

You look for a lover and find one – the rest doesn’t matter.

I learn from my subconscious, from getting high.

.

Tarot Readings: Fool and Two of Cups

..

You get a feeling in your bones for deception when you are on the right track.

Ignore someone who pretends to be helpful.

No idea how misleading your sincerity can be.

I don’t care if they take advantage; I’m helping out anyway.

You are so helpful and devoted that you don’t know when they are takers.

I know nothing about that spirit world, but I’m seeking.

Now that I’m older, I don’t even think about sex.

Not having sex, being celibate.

You don’t know about a friend’s sex life.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.. ….. …      ..

Contrasts here today! The underlying contrast is between looking where you are going, and trusting the ground to take care of you.

Hermit is sober; Two of Cups is under the influence. You see Hermit watching his step, with the lamp’s light at his feet; you see Fool traipsing to cliff’s edge.

Hermit is honest; Two of Cups is crooks and con artists. Hermit is sincere; Two of Cups has an agenda.

Hermit sees things realistically and analytically; Two of Cups is ‘Appearances are deceiving.’

Hermit is looking for something; Two of Cups is concealing something.

Hermit is helpful and even devoted; Two of Cups is the mooch, the bloodsucker.

Hermit is celibate (or at least chaste); Two of Cups is illicit sex, or at least a hot love affair.

Hermit is facts; Two of Cups is b.s.

Hermit knows; Fool is ‘I don’t know.’

Hermit is a religious (a service monk); Fool is a spiritual adept or simply has faith in the universe.

Hermit is factual; Fool is fanciful. Or you could phrase it: Hermit is down-to-earth practical; Fool is ‘out there.’ Or Fool is intuition; Hermit is common sense.

Fool is free, has no attachments whatsoever – a free spirit; Two of Cups is the opposite: There’s an adverse attachment, a pernicious drain on energy.

The subconscious is an element in both Fool and Two of Cups. Fool frequently means subconscious; Two of Cups is influence that a person is unaware of, and is unseen attachments.

Hermit      A monk is devoted to finding travelers at night, with his lantern, in the mountains in the snow. Hermit comes to, looks for, helps, is an old or older man, is a friend, is patient, sincere, sympathetic and wise – sometimes a doctor or professional counselor – is celibate or monogamous, is a true friend, a friend who comes to help. The point this Rider Waite Tarot card often is making in your spread is ‘He comes to you,’ – that the other party approaches you (or the Querant, if you are doing a reading for another person). Another point Hermit is commonly making is looking for, watching out for, searching, observing, even investigating, eyeballing and being a witness to.

Sometimes the traveling on the road, the road, the mountains, the snow or the cold, or even the night time, are the point Hermit makes in your spreads.

Hermit is associated with being down-to-earth, practical, objective and analytical; is associated with the facts. Remember he represents medics of all sorts. He is also associated with humility.

Fool       First of all, Fool is an upbeat Tarot card, in any self-respecting deck: Fool has a good feeling associated with it. It means ‘optimism.’ It represents that good feeling we have at the inception (beginning).

This illustration is bending over backwards to show non-attachment, to show an optimistic lighthearted free-spirited approach or person. Fool says ‘Don’t confuse me with the facts.’ (And Hermit is the facts, and represents a sober person seeking same.) Fool undertakes a hike with no provisions for him or Doggy, and blithely skips to cliff’s edge. (Nope, he isn’t going down: Tradition tells us this. Fools and drunks, remember?)

Fool intuits; Fool assumes; Fool ‘just knows.’ Fool isn’t paying attention because Fool doesn’t have to pay attention: Somehow, Fool isn’t fully present enough in the physical world to suffer its natural consequences. The ‘not present’ thing arises from the fact Fool is the zero in the Tarot deck: the cipher, the placeholder.

The deeper meaning of Fool is that a person who is spiritual (a spiritual adept) is ‘untouchable’ and doesn’t have to look over his/her shoulder, but just enjoy whatever comes by. There is some truth to this.

You know those people who take extreme risks, who are foolhardy dopers or drunks, dumb petty criminals, etc. – who are immune to reality, and just go on year after year doing the same antics? – yeah, Fool is their card.

Here’s today’s phrases and words compliments of Fool, to give you a feel for how

he operates: ignore; assume; forget; don’t get attached; had no idea; that’s no; you don’t know when; you don’t really know whether; ignoring; I don’t know but I suspect; I had no idea; opens you up to; so I can be free; never mind; my subconscious; just; why not? Could be; the rest doesn’t matter; my subconscious; a feeling in your bones; ignore; no idea; I don’t care; I’m … anyway; you don’t know; I know nothing about; I don’t even think about; not having; You don’t know.

Two of Cups       “That wasn’t on the label.” Unforeseen hazards, that’s Two of Cups. The caduceus represents a factor that interferes or is part of the scene and is undisclosed. The factor that interferes need not be malefic (harmful), but often is. Two of Cups isn’t just cheating your lover, it’s being insincere with friends or in business deals. It’s a violation of trust, even embezzlement. It’s pretending to be something you’re not. Its broad, general meaning is that ‘undisclosed third party’ or undisclosed other interest. That general meaning is applied in unexpected ways sometimes. Two of Cups can represent, say, unintended consequences, side effects, or a surveillance camera.

Speaking of what interferes in our lives, Two of Cups represents sexual bond, sexual desire, sexual affair, illicit love, and cheating on your partner. Tarot sees ‘cheating on your partner’ the same whether the cheating (taking advantage) is sexual or monetary, whether it’s personal or business. A gigolo is still a mooch. A false lover is a false friend. And lust is lust, whether it’s ‘good lust’ or ‘bad lust.’

So how does Two of Cups come to mean all these things, you ask? Well, it’s those intertwined snakes that we call the caduceus. That thing, in its various forms down the centuries in various cultures, is used in spells to allow spirits to interfere in or affect human events. Moses, who was trained in magic as a high-born Egyptian price, used it to protect people from snake bites. In our illustration, the caduceus hovers over a couple announcing their engagement back in the day when that had real effect and real consequences.

Therefore, this Two of Cups card is saying there’s some undeclared outside-interest in the relationship between this couple.

.

Keeping an open mind about what’s real and what’s phony as I go along. I learn from my subconscious, from getting high. I may as well enjoy life as not, you know? Que sara sara. You can still be drunk or sober with an open mind, you know? Keep on the right track and ignore the b.s. coming from the sides. I seek to know where the strings are attached, and what the spiritual realities are, not to know who my friends are having sex with. I don’t even think about sex myself now that I’m older.

Unsure how to think about this spread since I’m reading this on Thursday night. But my first instinct or thought about it is to have a no-worry-or-care attitude about Mr Bull. I like “Sex with an older man … why not?” phrase because that is what would be when Mr Bull and I become intimate. You notice I said when not if, because I feel a strong knowing that Mr Bull and I will be get together very soon.
I’ll have to keep up the not-worried-about-Mr-Bull and enjoy my life and then I just have to watch Mr Bull chase me.

    • I agree. You have learned the ropes.

To Everyone: Techs are onto a problem involving the server, I think you call them: memory allocation. They are working with the server to fix it. I don’t have to get in the middle; they are talking to each other: Yay.

      • Tina

I just figured out how this spread relates to me on Friday. Again Mr Bull decides to flirt with me and call me from his desk phone to mine and we talked a little; actually there was definite sexual undertones in what was said and how his voice changed. It was a great day on Friday with him and it all was because I didn’t bother him or contact him first. Still staying strong but I do contact him if it is work-related issues but that’s it.
