GUIDANCE       It’s not just in love life that, just when we are about to go all-out, about to jam down the gas pedal … we hit the brakes. Today we look at that point. We look at that instinct we have that flashes a ‘Do you really want to get that involved in this?’ sign when *what we are about to immerse ourselves in* will exclude other things that are a part of our story.

.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

He isn’t that physical of a man to be seducing you.

Sex isn’t the only thing on his mind.

His mind is closed to outside influences.

He does not believe in spirits that interfere.

He is not interested in sex.

Two of SwordsTwo of Swords has one simple job: To say ‘no’ and ‘not’ and ‘don’t’ and ‘don’t be’ and other frank negatives like those. She knows a few other words, not many – words like ‘closed’ and ‘end’ and ‘stop’ and ‘dead end’ and even ‘The buck ends here.’ She and Four of Cups are close relatives, and Death is a cousin. All those are negators. This card cancels the meaning of a nearby card by adding a negative word, which is what a negator card is and does.

.

The picture resembles another ‘2’ card, High Priestess: a seated woman, a blue background, a moon. But Two of Swords is incapable of action sitting there in her nightie in the middle of the night, blindfolded (see Eight of Swords for more of that) holding two heavy double-edged swords that counterbalance one another (stasis) in her crossed arms. Just like Eight of Swords, she could put the swords down (although she might get injured), whip off the blindfold, and go somewhere. Her hands are going to give out anyway, so the picture doesn’t make sense that way.

Two of CupsThree cards picture something hovering over a couple and mean interference in some way in the affairs of others: Two of Cups, Lovers, and Devil. The applications of these three cards are different, of course. Two of Cups shows a third party, a nonphysical entity or even a mischievous spirit, lurking over a couple who are getting engaged. The interfering thing is a caduceus. A caduceus is used in spells; and spells, of course, interfere surreptitiously in the business – even in the intimacies – of people.

.

So Two of Cups is about interfering, butting in, using other people, pretending to be someone you’re not to get something out of somebody, and attractions, seductions, outside influences, distractions, and getting misled or ‘sucked in.’ Two of Cups is also about third-party interests, silent partners, getting someone to buy something (advertising), embezzlement and getting your cut of their earnings (override).

.

Note that Two of Cups is, yes, about all these processes, but that includes whenever the interference is ‘for your own good,’ when the influence is exerted for a good or neutral purpose, or is just overwhelming natural attraction or an interest – an outside interest that’s engrossing a person … like, say Einstein’s fascination with math.

.

Two of Cups is especially about sex, sexual bond, sexual attraction (‘having the hots’), grand sexual love affair, seduction and seducing. That’s because that’s what’s in the illustration.

Knight of Pentacles Its meanings are very focused, and that is what its meaning is: focus on one thing. Knight of Pentacles is a very driven determined strong-of-body man whose attention is riveted on what he believes in, or what he wants to accomplish, or just on self interest … or his girl … or sex. Knight of Pentacles owns these words and phrases: pay attention; his interest in; his mind is; he believes in; he is interested in; he is alert to; he has an idea; he makes sure. He is ambitious, but the ambition could be one thing of the moment rather than a major goal.

.

Knight of Pentacles is also about obsession, which comes from ‘one thing on his mind.’ He could be fanatic. He could be a ‘bad boy’ too, even a thug, which comes from the strong-man + obsession.

.

Knight of Pentacles tends to be a commoner like King of Wands when he stands for a person. The card is not limited to lowbrow interests when it is about the interest a person has, though.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                       LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. ….. …  ..

.

Two of Cups and Knight of Pentacles are potential mischief-makers, but Two of Swords is there to stop the progress of whatever is afoot. Today, a negator, Two of Swords, is the star card (the card the others relate to more than they relate to themselves). That’s fairly rare.

Knight of Pentacles has one thing on his mind – usually self-interest, sex, ambition or obsession. He is the driven Type A type, very physical and very male. He usually is determined and wants something. You see him staring at that pentacle, totally focused. He has a lot of energy, peasant-type energy, to him … and so does his sturdy horse. So Knight of Pentacles and Two of Cups, left alone together, are sexual obsession; are he wants sex more than anything; are he is out to take foul advantage.

Two of Cups is sexual attraction, sexual love affair, and butting into someone else’s business of any sort – including cheating sexually. Two of Cups is taking advantage, pretending to be someone you’re not in order to get something you want. Two of Cups is profiting from someone else’s efforts, like a mooch or an override in MLM, or embezzlement. Two of Cups is also compromise: meeting in the middle, giving up part of what’s yours to get part of what’s theirs.

The caduceus is the reason Two of Cups has its dark side: The caduceus is used in spells, and spells are inserting yourself into others’ lives, often so that their doings benefit you rather than they. Today we see that caduceus poised above and between a couple announcing their engagement back in the day when that was tantamount to marriage forever. You see the caduceus in medical icons to this day because doctors, I guess, started out witchy … and maybe still are that way.

.

Two of Swords is: stop, end, can’t go any further, no, not, blocked, not interested, don’t let, isn’t about, don’t be, is closed to – a lot of meanings shared with Death and Four of Cups.

.

Since a negator (Two of Swords: no, not, no way) can attach itself to any nearby card, we have Knight of Pentacles saying ‘not interested‘ and Two of Cups ending up as ‘no compromise‘ and ‘not sexual.’ That’s the way negators behave: They can latch onto a nearby card and nullify it, cancel it out. Tarot Verbatim works that way: The individual cards interact and morph into an idea they may not individually add up to.

.

I am determined not to get drawn into their scene; I got a scene of my own and that’s all I’m interested in. To heck with all outside influences; I’m minding my own business exclusively and energetically. I am not having sex with that determined man … or the man is determined not to have sex with me. Today we think about how, when you’re on some course of your choosing, there are intersections that intrigue you.
