*Then you read HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS – resonates with your subconscious awareness! for language created by each pair of Rider Waite Tarot cards, in Tarot Verbatim™. Now you are done, if you chose to do it all. Comments are at the very bottom.

Did you come for combined meanings of other cards than these?

*Then you can put names of any two cards into Google, and get their combined meanings. You can also write in one card followed by ‘Tarot Verbatim,’ and get paragraphs of meanings for it.

.

Three of SwordsYou look at Three of Swords and say ‘I hope it’s just a tornado,’ because it can mean adverse weather as well as adverse anything else. First thing you do in Tarot Verbatim™ when you see a potentially disagreeable card is look for a ‘rescue card,’ a negator that takes the sting out by adding a ‘not’ or a ‘not much.’ Not much luck here, except a little help from its Knight of Swords friend.

.

This is a disagreeable point, no way around it, but it can be part of a ‘don’t you just hate it when’ scenario, since Tarot Verbatim™ is language based in a mechanical way. Three of Swords is to quit, to divorce, jealousy, rivalry, and mere stress; it’s not always trauma (but, yes, it does mean trauma). The knives can mean surgery – and, next to the heart shape there, heart surgery (or heart trouble – physical as well as feelings). Today, Three of Swords says ‘It’s a cold cruel world.’ Today it is hurt, pain, a fight, hate, hostility, hard times, a strained relationship, jealousy … and a rainstorm.

Ace of Swords – You can feel the threat in the illustration of a hand gripping an upraised sword, and you immediately get the idea of a total victory on one side with that crown crowned with the laurel leaves of victory. It’s easy to lose track of the fact that total defeat is on the other side, and that Tarot cards’ meanings apply any way you see in the picture. So you look around.

.

One thing is for sure (pun alert!): Ace of Swords often means ‘absolutely’ and ‘absolute’ or ‘total.’ It also frequently means challenge. These common words for Ace of Swords apply to any old bland story. Probably the most common translate for Ace of Swords is ‘must’ and its synonyms (have to, got to, orders, etc.). It means ‘strong,’ ‘stronger than’ and ‘strength’ too.

.

But Ace of Swords is your card for clash, conflict, combat, threat, fight, power play, ultimatum, confrontation, things contested, and even stabs, weapons, and defeat.

Knight of Swords You see an armed knight full-speed-ahead on a flying horse. Most of this Knight of Swords’ card meanings are about that rush or speed. It’s the direction that has some distinctions for you to make. He could be chasing, pursuing, coming back, racing around, running, switching sides or switching anything else, turning around, or even be a turning point, a quickie, immediately, or an emergency. Often, Knight of Swords is ‘outta here’ or ‘run right over.’

.

Some more common words for Knight of Swords are ‘again,’ ‘leave,’ ‘avoid’ and ‘change.’ He means these things sometimes too: upcoming, called off, imminent … and Knight of Swords is yet another card that can say that pesky ‘doesn’t anymore’ phrase that catches another card’s meaning between its two words – like ‘it doesn’t hurt anymore’ with Three of Swords as ‘hurt.’

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.. ….. …     ..

.

This spread hits you in the face, and there are more ways to apply it than first appear. That is why we have too many sentences today! Three of Swords is fight; Knight of Swords is flight; Ace of Swords is both a threat and ‘one way or the other.’ So we have ‘fight or flight.’ And we also have ‘running from a fight‘ or ‘avoiding conflict.’ We even have ‘have to fight.’

.

Three of Swords is obviously hurt and pain, and Knight of Swords is avoiding or heading in the opposite direction: avoiding a painful situation, or running from a fight.

.

Three of Swords is the divorce card (Tower too). The other two cards make familiar phrases with the word ‘divorce.’ Ace of Swords is ‘have to’ and also means ‘contested.’ Knight of Swords is to avoid, and is also ‘quickly,’ so you have a quickie divorce there.

.

These three cards describe being so angry (Three of Swords as hostility) that you have to (Ace of Swords) get out or run off (Knight of Swords) before someone gets hurt (Three of Swords). Anger management counselors teach their violent men to do this before they rough up their companion. Ace of Swords can be violent, and Three of Swords can be hurt.

.

Cards ‘play together’ in Tarot Verbatim™. When you see a potentially ‘bad card,’ you look at its companions for one or more that tone it down. You especially look for those ‘rescue cards’ that cancel out nearby cards’ meanings. They mean negative words or phrases, usually, or they mean ‘not much’ or they mean ‘maybe.’ There are lots of them. Someday I will write a little book on them. (Knight of Swords meaning ‘avoid,’ ‘could go either way,’ and ‘get out of there before’ is a borderline rescue card – borderline only because it fairly seldom acts this way.) And of course you consider a potential bad card’s ‘lesser of the evils’ meanings, because each of the cards has a spectrum to it, and has meanings that apply in a different way from its most common ones. Three of Swords can be heartache or mere dislike.

.

In a small three- to seven- card spread, if there are two cards that can mean the same thing, you pay special attention. Like today both Three of Swords and Ace of Swords can mean surgery, and can mean being cut.

.

So today things may come to a head unless we do something to avoid that, which may just be to leave before the fur flies.

Some things are worth fighting over and some aren’t, and it’s a good thing when you know one from the other, isn’t it? Mostly, other people’s fights are not worth fighting over, and there’s no such thing as civil war, so God invented divorce. We definitely want to avoid being a wounded warrior too. We raise a glass in celebration of getting the heck out when a storm is brewing in the atmosphere or the weather.

Wow! It happened again! This spread was so true for me and my friend. I had to hold my tongue with his funny way of talking to me. So the fight or flight response is so true.

  2. Tina

Okay, anyone who reads this post might chuckle (Emily you can understand) but I had an urge to wear a skirt today knowing that I will not be able to walk through the factory. This will stop me from having the urge to ‘visit’ him in his office. I am trying to stop myself from impulsive actions and words with him first. So when reading this spread it reminded me of the ‘fight or flight’ response or in my case; contact him or not. He will have to come up to the main office to see me and interact with me. I sure hope he does.

The divorce element in the spread could be about him because they did have a falling out for a few months before and who knows, maybe it isn’t work out.

    • Tina

Unsure if there really is something brewing that will ‘wound’ me but I guess my intuition helped me this morning and has me taken a proactive approach to not contact or visit him first.
