Tarot Readings: Six of Pentacles and World

.. …..

The cost of doing your own thing is prohibitive.

He is attentive to shapely women, and to no others.

Can’t get through: Access to this exchange is denied.

Through no fault of your own, your income is shut off.

When you don’t get your money from them, you blacklist them.

When you don’t owe anybody anything, you don’t need anybody.

The way she treats people shuts them out so they have nothing to do with her.

.

Tarot Readings: Six of Pentacles and Two of Swords

.. … ..

No way to treat a lady.

Pays no attention to a trophy woman.

Don’t buy it, and it won’t give you problems.

Doing my own thing doesn’t cost me a thing.

She’s not paying his bills and not taking his calls.

When it comes to what’s not fair, she is intolerant.

Whatever you won’t put up with is not doled out to you.

Don’t put your two cents into an issue you’re not involved in.

Can’t get any money from you, so they are not bothering you.

.

Tarot Readings: World and Two of Swords

You’re an outsider; you are shut out; fair enough.

She is the most skilled but is not paid accordingly.

Ignore them when they don’t deliver the respect due you.

Having no connections, you’re not paid what you’re worth.

When you’re out of the loop, shutting them out is fair play.

So snobbish she has nothing to do with people who have no money.

Am so engrossed in my personal life that I’m not doing business now.

She doesn’t pay any attention to him when he doesn’t pay any attention to her.

.

Six of Pentacles An exchange – giving and getting – is what Six of Pentacles is all about, and it paints with a very broad brush for this. A fair exchange, usually, since the scales are involved. An exchange of money is pictured – the serfs getting their paycheck from the employer.

.

But Six of Pentacles is any kind of exchange, often attention, sometimes respect, sometimes even germs. This is the card for getting (or dispensing, or selling) pills – I guess because he is dropping round items into the receiving hands, and because ‘treating people’ is one of Six of Pentacles’ featured phrases. This concept can expand a little further to include medical treatment.

.

Quite often either giving or receiving (not the full exchange) is what Six of Pentacles is expressing. It means to pay bills and to get money, so words like these appear for Six of Pentacles: cost, owe, buy, paid, have the money, doing business, fines, dues, fees, and (of course) those monthly payments.

.

Fairness is very much a province of Six of Pentacles; it is a justice card because the employer is weighing the money fairly in the scales. Today it says ‘fair play.’

.

Phrases about paying attention include both the kind of ‘pay attention’ that involves thinking, and the kind of ‘pay attention’ that involves the way you treat someone or the way they treat you – phrases like: to be attentive, the way (she) treats people, the respect due you.

World World has more meanings by far than most Tarot cards, at least in Tarot Verbatim™. Its core principle is that wreath-wall you see around the dancer with the double magic wands. World is about shutting in, shutting out, being intolerant, being snobbish, not needing anybody, not being interested, not involved, ignoring, having nothing to do with, not paying attention. It doesn’t get through, it can’t get through, won’t let it through, they are not bothering you, it won’t give you problems. This ‘not getting through’ will even show up as a physical barrier, like a seawall or a filter that filters something out. The presence of Two of Swords brings the ‘not getting through’ out in World today.

.

The wreath and ‘not getting through’ suggests privacy, doing your own thing, shutting out the world, cocooning or being cloistered. Today, the ‘through’ concept brings up ‘through no fault of your own,’ even.

.

The wreath wall and ‘not getting through’ also applies the other direction: being an outsider, having no connections, being out of the loop, being what moderns call ‘discriminated against.’

.

World is also a shapely lady, trophy woman, and a sexy lady (since she is dancing nude). Once in a while (especially if that is the subject matter somehow), World is a nude dancer, possibly in a cage.

.

World is also an expert, is top level at whatever-it-is, is a master, is the most skilled. That is because ‘master of both worlds’ is the source of this card’s illustration: A master magician is called that, and has control of both white and black magic – hence the two wands. Such a magician is not to be challenged, but feared for his or her talents. That’s why the entities outside the magic circle, the wreath, are looking away. World is invisible.

Two of Swords Two of Swords is a simple plain-vanilla Tarot citizen. It is a negative modifier, really the main one. I call that a negator. Today 15 times it means things like: when you don’t, no way, don’t, doesn’t, not, what’s not, is not, can’t, you’re not, have no, I’m not.

.

Two of Swords shares some of World’s meanings: shut out, have nothing to do with, for instance.

.

Two of Swords will attract negative meanings like these: shut off, blacklisted, prohibitive or prohibited, denied, and ‘no others.’ You can see the ‘X’ pattern in the illustration that means ‘to X out.’

.

.

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                   LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

. ….. ..

Here we have one of those rare spreads of three cards which say the same thing twice: Don’t pay attention, or not paying attention. World is obviously not paying attention to the neighbors on the other side of her wall, nor are the entities there paying any attention to World. And that’s the whole point of World; that’s its main meaning: shutting out, not being interfered with. She is doing her own thing; she isn’t paying attention.

.

Two of Swords is the most emphatic negator card; it’s a very strong negative modifier in Tarot Verbatim™. One of Six of Pentacles’ meanings (not its foremost) is ‘ paying attention.’ So Two of Swords and Six of Pentacles say ‘ not paying attention’ or ‘ Don’t pay attention.’

.

World and Two of Swords are both shutting out. Two of Swords shuts it out because it doesn’t see it and can’t do anything; World shuts it out because it doesn’t care about it.

.

So next to two cards about shutting it out and not being interested and having nothing to do with it sits Six of Pentacles: the input, the exchange. Six of Pentacles is something you give or something you are given. It’s also what you deserve, getting what you deserve, and giving (them) what (they) deserve. Six of Pentacles indicates something is the right or fair thing to do.

.

So our spread boils down to it being the right thing, or not being the right thing, to give or receive, to pay attention or not pay attention, to pay or not pay.

.

. …..       .

.

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES

.

One of Six of Pentacles’ meanings (not its foremost) is ‘paying attention.’ So Two of Swords and Six of Pentacles say ‘not paying attention’ or ‘Don’t pay attention.’

Six of Pentacles indicates something is the right or fair thing to do.

.

So our spread boils down to it being the right thing, or not being the right thing,

to give or receive, to pay attention or not pay attention, to pay or not pay.

. ….. .     .

.

.

.

. ……

To pay, or not to pay: That is the question. To receive, or not to receive: That is also the question. Whether to ignore, or whether to pay attention. Whether it’s right or not right. It’s not like we ponder what we are going to do today; it’s pondering what is happening right now.

Tarot Readings for You for May 25-26, 2017 Thursday-Friday©

GUIDANCE     Look back and you may find that leaving some place was the best thing you ever did for yourself. Quite often not much (if anything) was wrong with the place; it was just that another fate beckoned to you from out there somewhere. ‘Out there’ can be a destination before you know where it is. Your gut tells you to head on out, but your head has not found ‘where’ on a map yet. Drifting, for some people, has been one of their most rewarding times.

.

Six of Swords Leaving like refugees with ‘just the clothes on their back,’ they at least have the help of a friend who provides transport – the boat. When a person leaves a place or situation dead broke, it is a turning point in his or her (or their) life. In transit out of one place and toward another, there is a triple focus: on the transit, the journey; on the experience you are escaping; on the better life you are heading for. Six of Swords is a very moody card – both despair and hope live there – because of the turning point.

.

Six of Swords indicates a situation is improving, unless the other cards are a booger. Its presence is usually a hint to interpret the story you are looking at as a situation on the mend. Consider that scenario first: It is a time-saver usually.

.

Today Four of Wands provides the place Six of Swords is either leaving or heading toward. Four of Wands means a place, a building (a home or any other building), and an organization, including a city, state, county, nation, etc. This meaning springs from the society wedding in its illustration: The nobility were the power people and the governments back then. (Uh, they still are?)

.

And today Wheel of Fortune echoes the change for the better that Six of Swords usually indicates: Wheel of Fortune is the miracle, the opportunity, the change for the better or best. So Six of Swords and Wheel of Fortune both speak of the better or the best happening, today.

.

Just think ‘transition’ when you see the mother and son (tradition says it’s a boy) in the little boat at dusk. Six of Swords most often today means leaving, and it also means ‘heading toward’ and ‘avoided back then.’

.

Today Six of Swords also is about how things used to be, saying things like: don’t anymore, not anymore, not being anymore – and of course ‘used to be.’

.

Today Six of Swords also says a few other things in the same category we are talking about. It address the fact you weren’t home, and they were out of office. It also mentions how you avoided something back then – that turning point.

.

The sad mood of Six of Swords, and the way it reminds you of the Egyptian haunting myth of Charon rowing the newly dead in his boat to their fate, makes Six of Swords the card that says ‘the departed.’ It means the deceased, of course, too.

.

Wheel of Fortune Wheel of Fortune is arguably the most occult card in the deck. You see various well known evil entities (the red lizard, the sphinx); you see the word ‘Rota’ which means ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ a concept from an Apollo myth; you see the Hebrew letters that mean God’s name (Jehovah, Yahweh, in English); you see the wheel looking for all the world like a roulette wheel.

.

Wheel of Fortune makes the point that, through coincidence, both divine and infernal (evil) entities affect our lives. So Wheel of Fortune means: chance, luck, opportunity, destiny, gambling, karma – all regarding coincidence.

.

In real Tarot life, though, Wheel of Fortune is only about good luck – go figure. Especially today in its present Tarot company. Strangely enough, Wheel of Fortune reminds one of the old Sears catalog, with its good/better/best designations – because it means all those words!

.

Wheel of Fortune is about events that happen (and happen due to a role coincidence plays), so you find Wheel of Fortune very very often translating ‘happen,’ and its forms. It sometimes translates ‘event’ or ‘occur.’

.

Wheel of Fortune also frequently translates both ‘wonderful’ and ‘miracle.’ It also means a big payoff, like a fantastic return on investment.

Four of Wands What we are looking at in this illustration is the official home of a power person, and the public celebration of a wedding in the family there. In Tarot Verbatim™, the three marriage cards all expand to mean community life at any level (neighborhood, city, county, region, state, nation, international), and all mean group life in any way.

.

So you find Four of Wands meaning: house, town, live there, place, home, country, and ‘belonging.’ Being a member of a group is an important meaning to Four of Wands. Community life.

.

Obviously, with a wedding as its illustration, Four of Wands means marriage and spouse and couple. And it means family and clan for the same reason. It reminds me of the Forties concept ‘of good family.’ You find Four of Wands sometimes translating ‘us,’ ‘we,’ ‘they,’ and ‘them.’ It also will simply say ‘people’ or ‘the people who,’ and ‘the crowd,’ meaning people who have something in common, or meaning just that: a crowd. It also translates ‘member’ or ‘a member of’ or even ‘member in good standing.’

.

The society wedding involves the power structure of the area, so you find Four of Wands talking about the Establishment, the Company, a Company man, and a stable company.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

. ….. .     .

The situation is improving, Six of Swords says, and it involves leaving a situation or a place for a better one. Four of Wands is the place or situation, and of course it can represent either the one you are in and leaving, or the destination place.

(I am saying ‘ place’ here, but Four of Wands is a marriage, a home or home life, a business or organization, as well as a neighborhood, city, state or nation.) Wheel of Fortune reassures an optimal (even a wonderful) outcome to the story. I say ‘reassure’ because all by itself Six of Swords indicates a better time is ahead.

.

Today Wheel of Fortune uses its most common and basic words, and no more: luck, a chance to, an opportunity, destiny, gambling, karma, it happens, it pays off, it’s wonderful – and the ‘ good- better- best’ that only Wheel of Fortune does.

.

So our story is that whatever you are moving through is leading to something worthwhile, something even wonderful.

.

All by itself, Six of Swords is about graduating to a better life ahead; about leaving the family or the place you live for a better life; moving – relocating. Going overseas for a better life. Four of Wands shows up to represent the place, and Six of Swords shows up to represent the improvement.

.

But Six of Swords also describes the improvement happening when someone (or something) leaves you: It is a member of the ‘ not anymore’ Tarot tribe. It – Six of Swords also means recovering from something ( improving).

.

Six of Swords means ‘ I used to be,’ because it’s leaving something behind – so I used to be a member, or I used to live there, or I used to be married. Six of Swords is ‘ things are better ahead’ so you left a group of people or a town, or an organization, for a better life. This would talk about leaving one company for a better position elsewhere … or leaving an educational institution (graduating) for a better future.

.

Six of Swords isn’t necessarily literally moving; it is withdrawing from its environment to enter a new and better phase, a ‘ journey in consciousness,’ and even the journey in the afterlife (echoes of Egyptian mythology here). ‘ The departed’ is one of Six of Swords’ meanings.

Six of Swords isn’t necessarily literally moving; it is withdrawing from its environment to enter a new and better phase, a ‘journey in consciousness,’ and even the journey in the afterlife (echoes of Egyptian mythology here). ‘The departed’ is one of Six of Swords’ meanings.

. ….. .       .

.

.

.

.

Giving up something to get something that sure smells better (but you’re not sure): That’s where we’re at today. A better opportunity, a better life, beckons before you think you are done with the zone you inhabit already. Sometimes it’s not that we are so comfortable with where we are, but that it’s at least the devil we know. Here’s reassurance that, yes, moving on represents moving up, improving your circumstances.

Tarot Readings for You for May 22-23, 2017 Monday-Tuesday©

May 21, 2017 by

Here is an email reading a client kindly gave me permission to post. It is a good example of how explicit Tarot is when it says ‘It’s over.’ It’s also a good example of the cards that express a disturbed or even mentally unwell person – in different aspects: Ten of Pentacles, dysfunctional personal lives; Five of Swords, combative attitude (or actual combat); Page of Cups, confused; Seven of Swords, to violate others’ trust or to double-cross; Moon, to be deranged or mentally ill or a ‘lost soul’; Four of Pentacles, feeling inferior; Five of Cups, depression and regret. (Not all these cards say those things in this spread. Nevertheless, they show a pattern that this fellow is disturbed.)

.

You can research meanings of any one, or any pair, of these Tarot cards by entering them into a Google search bar. Follow the single-card inquiries with ‘Tarot Verbatim’ to access the archives of this site.

And you can purchase a reading like this for yourself at the Email Reading navigation tab at the top of this site.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE

.

Page of Pentacles You see a young man dressed well concentrating and focusing on something. He is a page, and pages are apprentices – apprentice knights of course. Page of Pentacles is a fine young man, like three out of four of the other pages in Tarot. He is a good clean person, usually a young single man.

.

So he is focusing on who he is and how he fits into the situation he finds himself in. So the main meanings (almost the only meanings) of Page of Pentacles are about thinking, knowing, feeling, believing, and focusing – one category.

.

The other category is identity, self, who a person is. Here you find simple phrases like: I am, you are, he/she/it is, one of those people, the type of person that, be yourself, what your interest (or his or her or even their) interest is. You often find this Page of Pentacles card interpreting a simple combination of pronoun and verb (often an auxiliary verb. That’s the ‘I am’ examples given earlier here.

.

Page of Pentacles is also about intention, and is also about self-interest.

Ten of Cups Ten of Cups is ‘We’re all one big happy family here.’ All the good people. It is one of the two positive marriage cards (with Four of Wands whose illustration shows a public wedding celebration). Ten of Cups is family, is marriage, is married people, a couple or a happy couple, and married with children. All the marriage cards expand to mean groups of people, organizations, and positive relationships of all sorts in Tarot Verbatim™.

.

Groups of people: Ten of Cups often translates ‘everybody’ and ‘some people.’ Ten of Cups today says these things too: people, with people, being happy with someone, one of the people, one of those people.

.

Ten of Cups is a member of the ‘together’ Tarot tribe – it often translates together in various ways. This includes getting along together, getting together, living together, getting along with people.

.

Ten of Cups also is a card-carrying member of the prosperity Tarot clan. It associates happy respectable people with people who live in that fine home that’s pictured.

.

Today Ten of Cups is not a house or a neighborhood, but those concepts are solidly in its dictionary. Today’s spread says ‘Looking for my ideal house’ and similar sentences, but those are sentences I discarded when I was writing this.

Wheel of Fortune Coincidence is the core concept for Wheel of Fortune. It represents the idea that both good and bad spiritual forces affect events in our lives. A frequent meaning for this Tarot card is: It happens.

.

The Wheel of Fortune is a concept in the Apollo myth, associated with bad spirits and the Left-hand Path which leads to the precipice at the edge of the flat earth which is the habitat of those dragons and evil spirits. Where hell is. This was a specific locale on maps in the Hellenic (Greek and Roman) culture. The Moon card shows this road, the Left-hand Path that is the road to hell, and its meaning revolves around this concept.

.

The Greek word for this Wheel is ‘Rota,’ and you can see those letters alternating with the four Hebrew letters that mean Jehovah or Yahweh in English. ‘Rota’ is the root word for ‘rotate’ in English.

.

Okay. But the emphasis in Wheel of Fortune, as it actually functions on your Tarot table, is about luck – always good luck unless another card overcomes the message. Although you have the various funky-looking bad spirits all over Wheel of Fortune, God’s name is there too.

.

Wheel of Fortune looks like a roulette wheel, and the card is heavily about gambling, taking a chance, getting a chance, being lucky or fortunate, long shots that pay off big, things happening for the best, and the words ‘wonderful’ and ‘miracle.’ ‘Opportunity’ is also a frequent favorite word of Wheel of Fortune. Your big chance, your lucky break, lucking out, and Lady Luck herself.

.

A similar concept is destiny and fate. These words also belong to Wheel of Fortune.

.

Often, Wheel of Fortune translates ‘best’ in various ways. Today we have: what’s best, for the good of all, best, best ever, your best, the ideal, best interest and ‘the greatest.’

.

So this is one of the cards we secretly hope to visit our spread. When it appears with Nine of Cups (Your wish is granted.), we are doubly blessed.

.

.

.

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                   LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

. …..      ..

Niiice. We have a good person, Page of Pentacles; a group of good people who get along like happy family, Ten of Cups; and a wonderful outcome, Wheel of Fortune. What more could we ask? Naturally we are full of reassuring news for the day’s forecast today.

.

Page of Pentacles means to know and to be yourself, and what’s in your best interest. So we have sentences about marriage being good for a person, and about how a person is good to marry. Wheel of Fortune makes that ‘ destined for happy marriage.’ The marriage card also means family life, so the mate you already have may be the happy match.

.

Then Page of Pentacles knows, and Wheel of Fortune is the odds, is winning at gambling, so a long shot pays off because you know what you’re doing – and that long shot is more likely business or personal life than it is literally gambling.

.

Then we have the more philosophical side of this Tarot triad. Just be yourself to get along with folks for the good of all. And it’s in your best interest to get along with people.

.

I am one who knows how to make things happen, we also say. What is it you know how to make happen today? What glorious or at least refreshing thing?

Tarot Readings for You for May 18-19, 2017 Thursday-Friday

May 17, 2017 by

GUIDANCE          There’s this internal radar in humans about fairness, not that they all have the same definition: It gets tangled up with their self-interest so that especially some people’s radar is about ‘somebody has to pay my bills and make me happy.’ But this gut feeling about ‘fair’ visits us and lives within our psyche unbidden.

.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into three sections: Guidance; Group Tarot Cards Readings; Learn Tarot by Observing and Learn Tarot by Pictures.

Did you come here for YOUR PREDICTIONS? daily trends? –

Seven of Wands Seven of Wands – The illustration is about neighbors outnumbering a landowner in a surprise attack to take his property. Seven of Wands is often about some kind of fight, especially an uneven fight, dispute, provocation, protest, clash, struggle or effort. The illustration makes for two separate scenarios, each of which has many variations on the theme.

.

The first scenario is about the person who’s outnumbered and under attack. The first scenario is defending what’s yours, being defensive, being taken by surprise, being threatened, holding out for (something), standing up for yourself, about what the individual is up against, the pressure the defender is under, the opposition a person (or a side) is facing, and about an unexpected challenge. Seven of Wands is also protesting for (whatever) and being the underdog. Something drives you crazy (‘drives me up a wall’). “I’m mad as hell and I won’t take this anymore.”

.

The second scenario emphasizes the attackers. In real-life Tarot use, Seven of Wands often features a demanding unreasonable person, a mooch pressuring ‘the mark’ to provide for him/her, disorderly conduct, a pushy in-your-face person (which can refer to sales pressure). This can be an actual mugger, although that’s usually expressed with Seven of Swords or Five of Swords. Think of Seven of Wands Scenario Number Two as the drunk who demands the car keys, or the dependent who demands your car and, no, will not even fill up the tank – or even harassment by salespeople or telephone robots. Today with Hierophant, the church pressures for donations.

.

Seven of Wands doesn’t always involve a second party, though: It can be about pushing yourself to do, or to not do. It can be about something that simply drives you crazy (paying the bills, with Six of Pentacles). Seven of Wands can appear in your spread to represent that something is against the odds, or that a project will be an uphill battle – adverse circumstances.

Hierophant Hierophant is a complex card. You see a pope doing a ritual with his religious helpers, which is what they ordinarily, normally, and usually do – a routine. So Hierophant is the usual situation that we accept as such. Hierophant is the way things should be, ought to be, no harm being done, another nice Mister-Rogers day in the neighborhood … the middle class neighborhood.

.

Hierophant is the median, modicum, expected, accepted, okay, good enough state of being. It can translate ‘enough’ at times. A passing grade, most people’s mindset, things the way they are, the status quo, a clean act, the sticker price, the usual. It is also conforming to what is expected and accepted – obeying the rules, including the unwritten rules.

.

The pope of course brings Hierophant meanings of church, religion, Establishment, approved, moral, respectable, religious people and reverends. Any religion. ‘Church’ can translate ‘temple’ or ‘ashram,’ etc.

.

Hierophant involves what is fair, as part of its moral stance of respectability. That includes what is deserved, what a person is entitled to, what a person (or other entity) should have or get.

.

We are not today using or presenting Hierophant’s ‘image’ or ‘face’ meanings today, which are about the difference between what is factual and what we politely pretend is factual. The difference between the report and the real.

Six of PentaclesAn exchange: the employer is paying workers fairly, and they are accepting the money. Six of Pentacles is an exchange of just about anything, commonly money, attention, respect, or pills (which includes medical treatments).

.

Six of Pentacles doesn’t have to be a two-sided transaction or exchange. It means both to give and to receive, to treat and to be treated, to give or get attention, respect, money or anything else. It also is the Tarot card for payments (monthly or otherwise).

.

The exchange is a fair exchange: The employer holds the scales and weighs the coins the employees are receiving. The scales introduce a justice theme for Six of Pentacles, which has quite a few justice applications as well as general fairness applications. It translates ‘justice’ and refers to being in court, and refers to its proceedings – to paying fines, to legal fees, etc.

.

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                     LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

. …. .   .

Hierophant and Six of Pentacles are both about. fairness, are both about. being entitled to and. deserving. They establish today’s theme, today’s subject, today’s stories. Although their meanings intersect and overlap on these themes of. behaving justly, they are very different in their applications otherwise.

.

You can see Six of Pentacles involves an exchange with other people, and you can see that Hierophant is people who are involved in doing the same thing. You can see that Hierophant involves a religious ritual, and you can see that Six of Pentacles involves justice.

.

It’s only a small stretch to see the Establishment in Hierophant (what’s more established than organized religion?) and to see the justice system (another Establishment of course) in Six of Pentacles (via the scales).

.

By the way, we have a great example of a card echoing part of another card’s meaning. Six of Pentacles is getting what you are entitled to, and is also getting the money you are entitled to, while Hierophant stands by meaning the ‘ entitled’ part too.

.

Then we have our rebel over here, all nerved up … who is also ourselves defending what’s ours from the likes of him. Seven of Wands means both those things … get used to the dichotomy there. You see a sliver of this double meaning in Five of Swords too, which means both the bully and putting the bully in his place.

.

Seven of Wands disrupts the peace of Hierophant ( disorderly conduct). Seven of Wands confronts the paycheck of Six of Pentacles: He deserves money too, vandal that he is, and demands it. (Remember that Seven of Wands is either the robbing neighbors who encroach upon another’s home, or the victim defending himself from them aggressively. The landowner wins, by the way: tradition, and Mother Nature.)

.

Seven of Wands reflects the emotion of indignation, protest, insisting, raising hell. Think “ I’m mad as hell and won’t take it anymore,” and think ‘ Gimme those car keys, dammit.”

.

We have stories.

….   ..

.

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES

.

Hierophant and Six of Pentacles are both about fairness, are both about being entitled to and deserving. They establish today’s theme, today’s subject, today’s stories. Although their meanings intersect and overlap on these themes of behaving justly, they are very different in their applications otherwise.

Six of Pentacles is getting what you are entitled to, and is also getting the money you are entitled to, while Hierophant stands by meaning the ‘entitled’ part too.

.

Then we have our rebel over here, all nerved up … who is also ourselves defending what’s ours from the likes of him. Seven of Wands means both those things … get used to the dichotomy there. You see a sliver of this double meaning in Five of Swords too, which means both the bully and putting the bully in his place.

.

Seven of Wands disrupts the peace of Hierophant (disorderly conduct). Seven of Wands confronts the paycheck of Six of Wands: He deserves money too, vandal that he is, and demands it. (Remember that Seven of Wands is either the robbing neighbors who encroach upon another’s home, or the victim defending himself from them aggressively. (The landowner wins, by the way: tradition, and Mother Nature.)

.

Seven of Wands reflects the emotion of indignation, protest, insisting, raising hell. Think “I’m mad as hell and won’t take it anymore,” and think ‘Gimme those car keys, dammit.”

.

We have stories.

. … .   .

.

.

.

.

I paid my dues, and you did too. And here’s a heathen at the door loudly demanding a cut. He feels entitled to your paycheck as if he were the underdog and not the lazy dog. The effort it takes for you to pay the bills and not spend money the way you usually do makes this situation the part of the status quo that you’re mad as hell about and won’t put up with anymore.

.
