Tarot Readings for You for December 27, 2013 Friday©

Dec 26, 2013 by

Guidance      What type of person are you? What categories do you fit and not fit into? This determines your destiny in so many unspoken and unwritten ways, especially in the workplace. Posture and dress and speech classify you and me as if there were a caste system in spite of our many ways of pussyfooting around it. Even more than ability, talent, intelligence, having the look and/or being the type opens doors of opportunity. Some professions less than others, it’s true, but even in those it pays to mind your appearance as much as your manners, and exhibit the customary behavior for the field.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need.

‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the four cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Tarot Verbatim: The Right Look For The Job (Hierophant and Page of Wands and Eight of Pentacles)

I guess I’m proud to be working class.

He is the type who asks you one question after another.

Are my language skills up to snuff for this job?

I wonder why the average Joe, every time, says these things.

Can you do the same thing in the same way over and over – is that you?

He is the type to question the way things are usually done.

The work is so standardized; am I that type person?

Tarot Verbatim: The Right Look For The Job (Hierophant and Page of Wands and Eight of Pentacles)

I think I am a good fit for my job.

He says this is the work he usually does, and I think so.

So where is my respectable handsome young man who is employed?

If I were good-looking, would I be doing my usual job?

How come the average worker there is so clean-cut?

How can a guy so young and cute be a such a good worker?

Having the right look for this job seems to be enough.

Tarot Verbatim: Good Enough to Work Here (Hierophant and Eight of Pentacles)

I wonder if have the credentials to work there?

Can I claim I have a good recommendation at that place of employment?

I think you will fit right in with the look the other employees have.

Tarot Readings: I Keep Questioning Things (Eight of Pentacles and Seven of Pentacles)

I’m pretty sure I can say the same lines over and over.

This job involves saying things that are not quite factual.

Talking for a living is not quite the usual thing.

Can you say the prescribed lines for this job?

Tarot Readings: I Keep Questioning Things (Eight of Pentacles and Seven of Pentacles)

Have you ever heard an honest worker claim to be one?

I tell myself over and over I am not so sure this is correct.

Do you think you should keep saying that, even though it’s true?

Why should a young guy have just an ordinary job?

What if I suggested a job that is just average?

They say my employment is not quite respectable.

Why do we always use the same words to say that?

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Seven of Pentacles

Hierophant – Page of Wands – Eight of Pentacles

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Hierophant and Page of Wands are similar cards with different applications. Both mean being respectable, behaving well, conforming, fitting in, being accepted and acceptable, and having the right look. They are both about appearances more than actualities. Hierophant is more about the qualities, and Page of Wands is a person who has those characteristics or qualities. So Hierophant is respectability, and Page of Wands is respectable.

Hierophant is about the face of things, having a straight face, having the right papers and so forth. Hierophant is about standards and strictures – conforming to them, complying with them, being okay. Hierophant very often simply says the ordinary, usual, average … the consensus more than what’s right. Hierophant is the official story, the things most people pretend to believe or think they believe. There’s an artificiality to Hierophant, a hypocrisy, sometimes. The root meaning of the card is the difference between the way it really is, and the way we act like it is – whether we are a person or a government or a workplace.

Page of Wands is a person who fits in, conforms, is acceptable and accepted, who wants to please and is someone everyone gets along with. The ‘conforming’ expands, in Page of Wands, to speech or talk (well-spoken), to dress (well-dressed or appropriately dressed), to physical appearance (handsome, young, good-looking, fit). But it also stands for those qualities or characteristics, so it can describe a female as well. Most often, it applies to a person in his or her twenties, starting out in life as an apprentice and wanting to fit in. (Of course, we all know elderly people who are youthful in their way of living.) Keep in mind, though, that Page of Wands often simply reads ‘he,’ and does not stand for a female when it is just referring to person like that.

An aspect of Page of Wands we have not touched upon, because we are not using it today, is ‘standing up’ and ‘standing for’ and making a claim, giving your word. Popeye’s ‘I am who I am.’

Hierophant and Eight of Pentacles refer to a routine. Hierophant describes a protocol, a ceremony, a ritual, and the proper way it’s done, or the way it’s usually done. Eight of Pentacles is doing the same operation over and over, exemplified by a carpenter making identical pieces.

Eight of Pentacles is the job, work, workplace, work site, working class, worker, employment, and steadily doing the same thing. It often says ‘over and over’ and ‘keep doing,’ which means continuing to do something as well as ‘keeping at it.’ It refers to consistently being or doing – like loving you consistently rather than sporadically, like calling or showing up consistently – but of course the other card is necessary for this application. Look for ‘ing’ words (gerunds) for this. Soo now we know what all this from the other cards applies to: the job.

The remaining Rider-Waite Tarot card asks a question, is not so sure about something, wonders and ponders, and translates ‘maybe.’ It can say ‘doubt,’ especially doubt about an outcome because the fellow leaning on the shovel is not sure his labor will pay off in produce: Cucumbers need a plant of the opposite gender in order to bear.

Hierophant and Eight of Pentacles; also Page of Wands and Eight of Pentacles Here is why our main theme is fitting in at work. Eight of Pentacles is work or job; both Hierophant and Page of Wands mean fitting in, conforming, being acceptable. Both Hierophant and Page of Wands are about ‘type of person,’ stereotypes, as well. So that is our theme today: who to be.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Hierophant means pope. There he is in a red robe, monks kneeling to his authority. Conformity galore. Here it will refer to fitting in and being the right type of person. Hierophant is about the surface appearance: the ritual, not its real meaning. This idea is illustrated by the pope doing a ritual with some monks or priests.

Page of Wands dresses the part and speaks well. He is all about image and fitting in and being acceptable, about being the type, and type-casting yourself. He is the good-looking respectable young man your mother wants/wanted you to marry. He can be vain and foppish in Tarot Verbatim™ as he is pictured in our Rider Waite deck here.

Eight of Pentacles is about repetitive action, doing something in the same way over and over, as the carpenter makes one identical tile after another here. Work, employment, the workplace, the job, being the worker or being working-class. Eight of Pentacles is also about being consistent, keeping at it, being steady.

Seven of Pentacles ponders and puzzles and questions. When you grow plants that have gender, they don’t bear fruit unless both genders are within some vicinity of one another. This is the questionable situation in the illustration.

Tarot Readings: She Feels Beautiful So He Is in Love (Knight of Cups and Empress)

Be your beautiful self, and a strong man who’s also good-natured will see you that way and come right up to you.

She sees herself as a beauty, so a dominant man gravitates to her.

The sexpot is seeing him as a sweet guy who is the leader of the pack.

The very female woman senses the man of discipline melting into being her romantic swain.

She is feeling gorgeous and recognizes a real man when his approach is sooo romantic.

Feeling womanly, she instinctively realizes this is the man who’s confident enough to approach her.

A woman with money will attract men with authority: We know that!

She just sits there knowing only a real man would approach such a gorgeous person as she.

She is as instinctually confident of her total womanliness as he is instinctually confident of his total manliness, so he comes right on up to The Ideal Woman.

She sees him as the tall handsome type when he is attracted to her.

A sexy lady senses both the tall older man and his young buddy are interested in her.

Tarot Readings: He Feels Manly So She Feels Gorgeous (King of Swords and Empress)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the man in love is his own authority.

He has the idea to approach the most beautiful one in a very manly way.

The leader and his helper both have their eye on the same gorgeous lady.

She looks so good to him and he feels so manly,  he realizes he must be in love.

He is man enough to know when he is attracted and to approach the dame in question.

Being conscious of your manhood means you are attracted to the female in question.

She is looking so good to him he introduces himself in his most masculine fashion.

An intensely romantic guy gives intensely female woman the idea he is intensely male.

Senses being both the strong man and the romantic man makes this doll his woman.

A woman that sexy accepts a strong man who’s sweet:  He instinctively knows this.

So the military man suddenly gets it, learns from his guitar playing buddy how to approach desirable women.

When his tall buddy sees her as so good-looking, he knows the guy’s in love.

.

King of Swords and Knight of Cups Here we have the John Wayne manly man most men crave to be (and most women crave), King of Swords, the leading man, and we also have the romantic good-natured guy who makes us comfortable, who introduces himself, who takes initiative. They can be the same fellow with these characteristics blended together, or they can be two different fellows.

Empress and Hanged Man Next into the room is Empress herself, the ideal woman, the sexpot, the most gorgeous dame ever, just waiting for one of these fellows to spoil her and give her the life of comfort she feels born to. Hanged Man is the realization she emits that it is She, Your Dream Woman, herself in person. Hanged Man is the intense feeling, the urge of instinct imprinting itself as the thought strikes that It Is She Herself.

These four are about Romance and only Romance. They make a picture of a man’s man (King of Swords) being smitten (Hanged Man) by a voluptuous blonde (Empress), and melting into Prince Charming (Knight of Cups).

King of Swords The manly man, the military man, the disciplined man, the self-confident and self-controlled dude dames dream of, he is. Tall-dark-and-handsome with great posture, the leader of the pack. His no-nonsense pose and the casual way he holds the upright weapon express how calm he is in his kingship.

Knight of Cups “Oh he’s sooo cute.” He is the troubadour, the guitar player, the sweet guy who comfortably takes the initiative in such an engaging way. He is Johnny Depp in Don Juan de Marco. Here he is in pastels and thin curved lines, holding out the cup of friendship and wearing wings on his helmet; and his horse is as cute as he is.

Empress is as confident in her femininity as King of Swords is of his masculinity: They are the perfect Leading Couple, aren’t they? The Princess and the Commander in Chief. She is gorgeous, lives the luxurious life sitting on her fine cushions with the valentine shield on which is emblazoned the very symbol of femaleness.

Hanged Man expresses the points at which the subconscious interfaces with the real-world mentality. The eureka experience, the instinctive realization, ‘getting it,’ being struck by the fact ‘I knew that.’ An intense feeling, an instinct, a feeling in your gut. The upside-down feeling you get when you suddenly see something in a totally different light or from a totally different angle. (I coulda had a V8). This upside-down man is the illustration in most all decks, not just in the Rider Waite.

Tarot Readings for You for December 25, 2013 Wednesday©

Dec 24, 2013 by

Guidance     We have two kind devoted people on either side of a child, and a woman who finesses (gracefully handles) any problem also present. Since it’s Christmas Day, a children’s day, our spread refers to a road trip and to making ourselves and a child happy – because the couple is devoted to one another’s happiness as they are to the child’s. So today’s message is a warm family scene of caring for one another. We are grateful for it.

Strength

Queen of Pentacles – Sun – Hermit

Queen of Pentacles and Hermit     are an ideal couple: Both are caregivers, devoted to other people. Queen of Pentacles takes care of and babies her man, backs him financially, handles his money, and often has money of her own. She is fiercely loyal to the clan. She is in charge of the place as a (very) married woman. Today, she is influenced by Strength, the lion tamer. She can … a road trip.

Is a monk out on the cold road at night looking for travelers to bring them help, or to invite them to a warm bed and food at his hermitage. He is a kind and patient devoted man. He stands for a true companion or friend, a friend who comes to help, a monogamous (or celibate) man, and an old man sometimes. He is patient. He is a counselor or adviser too.

Queen of Pentacles and Strength    Strong women who manage. Both these women get people to behave: Queen of Pentacles as the matriarch, and Strength hands-on. Queen of Pentacles is like a family man: She runs the household, business or estate, and manages the money. Tends to have money of her own too. Strength doesn’t let things get out of hand: She manages problems and solves them before they bud. She is the disciplinarian, and she is the strategist who knows when diplomatic approaches work.

Sun and Strength      Strength today is disciplining a child as part of her ‘sets things straight’ function. Since this is Christmas Day, it seems to me part of these refer to wrapping presents when children or a child is in the house and needs to be elsewhere.

Sun and Hermit      The road trip is Sun and Hermit: Sun leaves the house and Hermit is on the road.

Queen of Pentacles, Sun and Hermit     Since it’s Christmas Day, the happy child in the center of our spread, with two caring people on either side, is good to see.

Queen of Pentacles supports and is capable and able. She has money or handles money, she is running a place (business or farm or estate or enterprise). She can be the matriarch, and she can baby her man to the point of being possessive as well. She is pictured here in Rider Waite Tarot outdoors on solid ground (no water on her throne!) surrounded by verdant growth. The goats-head arms of her throne suggest she can be witchy. Here, she is the wife and the mother, and is part of a mutually devoted couple.

Sun is the child (sometimes means children too), the son, the boy, the brat, the happy child,  the playful child, the feckless child (or adult), the child who is outdoors, the childish or childlike person. Since it’s Christmas Day today, the happy child in the center of our spread, with two caring people on either side of him, is good to see. Illustration shows a child who left the house to play on a wicked pony.

Hermit is a devoted caring person, a kind man who goes out of his way to help people, who goes out on the road at night looking for whom he may be of service to: a service monk. He looks out for us. He is a monk, so patience, quietness and monogamy or celibacy are his attributes as well. And don’t forget: He is your friend, or a friend to whoever. Another point to Hermit is: He comes to you, or them. This is a card that says you don’t hafta chase your guy or girl.

Strength Like Queen of Pentacles, she handles things and is capable. She makes people behave, she handles conflict, she nips opposition in the bud, she has the solution and she applies the solution, she tames the surly beast as she does here with the lion who was going to attack her until he came close enough to be affected by her vibes… and is purring against his will. Bullies shun the person whose skill is to straighten things (them) out.

Tarot Readings for You for December 24, 2013 Tuesday©

Dec 23, 2013 by

Guidance    Ever notice the draft that precedes change, like the limbo you feel as you hear the stagehands bumping and scraping as they change the set for what’s next? Sometimes I up-periscope and wonder what happened, and ‘Where was I? What was I thinking?’ about the scene I’m in. I especially ponder how wrecks end up being lucky breaks. I marvel at how lucky some defective units are. Some of my most brilliant moves were blunders in disguise. Between night and morning there is a block of cooler breeze that sets the stage for the new day: That is the time things are born and die. Bless these pivotal moments to their best use, and call for more of them.

Tarot Readings: Things Are Wonderful the Way They Are (Hierophant and Wheel of Fortune)

I marvel at going from good to best.

Somehow, I usually let fate take its course.

Let’s ponder how we get from okay to wonderful, shall we?

Things are wonderful just the way they are – why change?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if things just got onto the right track?

It looks like the miracle that makes things end up as they should be.

How come people who aren’t respectable are so lucky?

All of a sudden this person is decent: What the heck is going on?

Tarot Readings: I Don’t Know What’s Happening (Seven of Pentacles and Wheel of Fortune)

I thought I was doing okay until something happened out of the blue.

Should I get out of the way of what’s happening, to be safe?

This isn’t the way things should be, and I don’t know what is happening.

What’s happening? – things aren’t the way they should be anymore!

Everything was okay, and then what happened to get us off on the wrong track?

It’s not the way it’s supposed to be – What happened?

I don’t know whether I should have just walked away … it seemed best to me.

Tarot Readings: Depart from the Beaten Path (Hierophant and Eight of Cups)

I am thinking it’s best for me to depart from the beaten path.

What just happened that broke me out of my mindset?

Maybe just behaving myself isn’t the way to go, isn’t paying off?

I’m not normal anymore, and maybe that’s just wonderful!

I don’t think about what ought to be anymore, I just wonder what will be.

I think it’s best to quit behaving myself; don’t you?

What was it that caused me get away from religion?

When did it happen that I wasn’t the same anymore?

I guess I am fortunate to escape being normal.

If you want something wonderful to happen, abandon being ordinary.

I don’t know whether to just take a chance and leave my comfortable rut, or not.

I think I ought to quit the lottery, quit gambling.

If by some miracle I get this person out of here, things will be the way they should.

.

Hierophant and Wheel of Fortune Hot diggity dog: Good things are happening! This indicates a real-world miracle, a good deed rewarded, things being wonderful the way they are, going from better to best, from just-okay to wonderful, and by some miracle a certain person behaves (which also would apply to an animal).

Hierophant and Wheel of Fortune See, Hierophant is the usual, ordinary, physical, realm. Wheel of Fortune, on the other hand, is the realm of the miraculous, wonderful, lucky fate, and it means it happens. Put the two together and the very best happens right where you live in the real physical world.

Eight of Cups and Seven of Pentacles These two cards together tell us this wonderful event happens to us when we’re not looking. Eight of Cups says there’s an abrupt change of course, that we are off track, that some fluke occurs, we get away from something and into something else. Seven of Pentacles is ‘Duh.’ – wondering, puzzling, pondering, not knowing what to think or how things are going to be.

Hierophant   This is the pope doing a public ritual. The point of the illustration is the public face, the official story – because theologians have a whole different view of tenets of their religions than its public has. Hierophant means the usual, normal, ordinary, accepted version or form. Most often Hierophant translates: should, ought, behave right, be decent, harmless, adhere to protocol.

Eight of Cups   A pilgrim detours on his path because of mountains and a river. The underlying meaning is this change of course, this abandoning one way for the other, this leaving something behind. It says ‘anymore’ often. ‘Abort course’ brings up abortions and miscarriages too. Unfinished symphony, abandoned career. It’s about disruption, interruption, being drafted into or dismissed out of anything. It’s also about escape and ducking out, and getting away from. It’s onto the next as it leaves the previous, usually.

Seven of Pentacles   He leans upon his shovel and ponders whether this garden work will result in a crop. This is one of the ‘Duh’ cards in Tarot Verbatim™. Hmmm, I guess, maybe, what if, if, I wonder, I don’t know, I wonder whether, doubts, marvel. The ‘Duh’ cards create questions out of their neighbors, and any question will do: what, why, when, should, where … any old question.

Wheel of Fortune The point of Wheel of Fortune’s illustration is that entities divine and infernal have roles in human affairs. See the critters with books, the critters with wings, the menacing red lizard … and then see the Hebrew Name of God in a circle in the center of what resembles a roulette wheel? Wheel of Fortune often means ‘chance,’ forms of the word ‘happen,’ best, fate, wonderful, miracle, lucky, going on, event, fortunate, take a chance, lottery and gambling. It also is the cause. It is often the jackpot, paying off, it pays, a windfall.

Tarot Readings for You for December 23, 2013 Monday©

Dec 22, 2013 by

Guidance     Tensions between a couple compare to tensions between families. It’s always two sides, you know … The two sides expand to the neighborhood and then to the general situation. Tarot presents the idea that two factions are a repeating pattern greater than the sum of its parts, that individuals, couples, neighbors and states engage one another in conflict because of instinctual taste for the conflict more than for a cause or any real reason.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

Nine of Wands

Ten of Cups – Four of Wands – Eight of Wands

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Ten of Cups and Four of Wands Here are the two ‘happy marriage’ cards waltzing in together. Our theme. Their meanings overlap a lot. Ten of Cups means marriage, happy marriage, everybody, family, neighborhood, house, happy couple, happy people, well-adjusted ‘good’ people, group, prosperity, celebration, reunion, and happy. Four of Wands also means wedding, neighborhood of good (upstanding) people, wedding, native country, members, faction, community (including in the political sense), company, organization, headquarters, and agency (any level). Most of the time, as you can see, these two cards mean pretty much the same thing: You look for one each in two sentences to establish a ‘unity’ theme of one sort or another.

But put them side by side, and they do come up with some phrases, like an organization that is ‘one big happy family.’

Eight of Wands and Nine of Wands cancel that unity theme. Nine of Wands is all kinds of defensiveness, since it depicts a border guard who dreads another attack, you know? Here’s what it says today: grievance, have to live up to it uneasy, distrust, pressure, facing difficulty, having to live up to, nervous, get on nerves, guarding, dreading, worry, defensive, under threat, uncomfortable, tension.

Eight of Wands just adds to things. Its meanings don’t correlate with the illustration much. Generally, it indicates a plural for a nearby card – ‘those things’ – means ‘increasingly’ and ‘more and more’ and ‘ier.’ It is also communication, written, oral or whatever: talk, new. It is also a list.

Put them together and a bad thing is getting worse.

Ten of Cups Happily ever after in suburbia with a boy and a girl, a rainbow over the ranch house, a couple hugs while the kids prance. This is the good upstanding life in the good neighborhood as one of the good people. It is any group of people, in a good context. Let’s apply that generality, shall we? This meaning expands to include any circle (as in circle of friends) and people who have anything in common (parties, factions, camps – the choir, the crowd at the pool hall, the coworkers you asked about, etc.) – family, people, the good people, marriage, happy marriage, married with children, happiness, togetherness (one big happy family). The meaning expands to neighbors and community, but Four of Wands is usually the spokesperson for city, state, county, nation, national groups and so on. Ten of Cups is a house or home, too – usually in a respectable area.

Four of Wands A big wedding of the leading families is a community event, and means a formal marriage. Put Justice with it, and it’s a ‘paper marriage.’ Four of Wands means these other things in a formal way too: community (any level including international, as in races or religions), country, native country – company, agency, organization, headquarters, corporate interests. It is a public building, often a court house (especially with Justice), and it can also be a house.

Eight of Wands Usually a simple Rider Waite Tarot citizen meaning either communicating – talk, messages, writing – or quickly – or increasingly, more and more. It can also mean accumulatively, as when one after another goes into the stack, bin, or whatever. Its illustration doesn’t relate to its meaning as closely as most of the other Rider Waite Tarot cards. Pictured are sprouting limbs flying one above another in the air, looking sort of like lines on a page. It stands for texting, by the way, as well as talking.

Nine of Wands guards the perimeter, head bandaged from the last sortie, feeling uneasy. ‘Being on your guard’ and ‘guarded’ are words that reflect how uncomfortable you feel in a Nine of Wands situation. You feel tense, anxious, fearful, dread, defensive. Nine of Wands also, of course, stands for a security guard, or guarding anything, or even a dog who is a guard.
