.

Three of Wands      The merchant who’s waiting for his ship to come in is a simple soul. All he’s interested in is his income or profit, the continuing progress of those ships, and the future.

.

Watch for the ‘continuing’ theme of Three of Wands to make gerunds – the ‘ing’ form of verbs ‘ and also to make future tense out of his neighbor cards. He means money and the future. Simple.

.

Words and phrases he makes today: what’s coming, will make money, begins to, bringing, beneficial, making money, a long time, getting, coming, rewarding, good times, going to be good for you, the good that comes of it, and ‘Everything’s gonna be all right,’ which is Three of Wands’ mantra.

Hanged Man      Hanged Man means ‘realize’ and ‘get it,’ means intuition and enlightenment. You see the energy halo around his head. He is upside-down because that’s the way you feel when you are ‘getting it’ from ‘out there.’

.

This illustration reflects a type of myth you see in several nations’ religions: The hero or god hangs himself on a tree, mostly for three days, and sacrifices a body function or part to ‘gain wisdom.’ The wisdom is psychic abilities.

.

So today Hanged Man, as usual, translates its common way as: see, realize, know, feel, idea. Inspired idea, too. Hanged Man is ESP (extrasensory perception), vision, intuition, premonition, feeling in your bones, and phrases containing ‘mind’ and ‘head.’ (Put him next to the pain of Three of Swords, and he has a headache.)

Three of Swords      Three of Swords is a spoiler card that rains on its neighbors. Bad weather; adverse conditions. A stylized heart pierced three times bodes no good … almost. Three of Swords does have some not-awful meanings. But most of the time, it means rejection, divorce (in Tarot Verbatim™), pain and hurt and suffering.

.

Another branch of meanings for Three of Swords is about adverse situations, adverse conditions (against the odds; when things go wrong; the hard part; difficult; the worst of times; rivalry and competition, a bad relationship). Very commonly Three of Swords will just translate ‘against,’ as in today’s ‘against the odds.’

.

Then we have hostility, bad feeling, hate, upset, ache, jealousy, opposition and rebellion, getting fired or firing.

At first glance, a person who knows his Tarot will see ‘Seeing the good times that will come from the bad times’ in this spread. But it also reads ‘Sensing there’s a battle ahead.’ Three of Wands, naturally, is the ‘good times that will come’ and the ‘ahead.’ Hanged Man is seeing and sensing. Three of Swords is the bad times and the battle.

.

The elements of these three cards are story-makers. You have the contrast between the rewarding in Three of Wands and the difficult in Three of Swords, and between them in Hanged Man is a neutral: feeling, seeing, thinking.

.

Some easy phrases flow here: Make money in the worst of times,’ for instance. And ‘bad weather (Three of Swords’ storm) is coming (Three of Wands as ‘coming in the future.’) We even have ‘Suffering (Three of Swords) bringing (Three of Wands) enlightenment (Hanged Man).

.

Hanged Man is to know, and Three of Wands is the future. You have ‘know what’s coming’ there, and just add any of Three of Swords’ meanings to make a whole list of sentences instantly.

It’s like a radar or an antenna, this subconscious scanner we are unmindful of within us. It’s the source of the gut feelings, the feelings in our bones, and even ‘a little birdie told me.’ It’s the part of us that has the talent for the tongue to bypass the brain and say just the right thing. Sometimes it leads us into fixes that teach us what we need to know and were not picking up on. Salute.

GUIDANCE         When I go all out for something I really want, whatever the pain or inconvenience it costs is worth it because the prize motivates me. The injury I endure in a marathon run is all about the pleasure of the run itself, too, not about getting from the starting point to the finish line itself: You could drive it! It’s because it is difficult that I want it.

LEARN SINGLE TAROT CARDS BY PICTURES.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE

.

Three of Swords Don’t have to tell you Three of Swords is ‘a bad card,’ do I? Heartache, heart trouble, hurt, pain, cut with knives: those are immediately apparent. Keep in mind that the ‘cut or pierced with knives’ includes surgery, acupuncture, etc. Another off-label use for Three of Swords is bad weather: Once it helped indicate a tornado during a job interview. The storm clouds behind the drawing bring that in.

.

The ‘bad weather’ expands to include hostile atmospheres and whatever ‘goes against the grain to make life difficult: adversity. Along these lines, Three of Swords can mean damage, since, well, that heart is damaged.

.

The most common words for Three of Swords are these: divorce or separation; rejection (of anything, any way); quit or being fired; fight; hurt; pain; hurtful relationship; feelings of hurt and pain.

.

Three of Swords also translates ‘against,’ and that’s a theme with a number of Rider Waite Tarot cards in it. Three of Swords goes so far as to mean hate and spite, and someone who’s an ‘aginner,’ as my daddy used to put it. This ‘against’ category, in Three of Swords, extends to ‘contrarian,’ which is also a type of investing. Shorting a stock is rejecting it, Tarot thinks, so Three of Swords is the card for contrarian investing and shorting stocks.

.

Three of Swords seldom means loss, but today Nine of Cups brings that word to Three of Swords in the phrase ‘capitalizing on losses,’ which is really ‘making the best of adversity’ in different words.

.

Knight of WandsHis picture shows him getting away fast. His horse is rearing (indicating things are out of his control) and he has a scared look on his face. But in real Tarot life, this card (like Knight of Swords, its twin) can mean either leaving or pursuing.

.

The main meanings for Knight of Wands are about speed (fast, fast progress, quick, hurry) and leaving (get out of, left, move out, ducked out).

.

Those same meanings apply without the ‘fast.’ So Knight of Wands is simply getting ahead, is going through, is getting on with it, or is ‘getting going,’ or avoiding rather than fleeing, or just moving (as in being transferred or moving out of town, or even just being on the road). Keep in mind this is the card for ‘over the road transport,’ as in deliveries or truck drivers.

.

Knight of Wands also applies to ‘with great energy’ and to motivation, as well. And remember I said he can be rushing in, rather than out, or just on his way in, or on his way to.

.

Nine of Cups And I don’t have to tell you Nine of Cups is ‘a good card.’ It’s as good a card as Three of Swords is a bad card. It’s as good a card as Wheel of Fortune. Nine of Cups is universally called ‘your wish is granted,’ and it means that in most decks – your dream come true. So Nine of Cups is your card for being rich, having it all, getting rich.

.

But Nine of Cups represents more minor satisfactions too (and ‘satisfaction’ is one of its favorite words, not used today). Watch for it to mean ‘enough,’ and to mean ‘gratitude.’ Watch for it to describe the way you feel when you receive the benefits (one of its words) it speaks of. These words are like: so glad, feel so good about it, makes you happy all over, enjoy and enjoying, the pleasure of; and watch for it to mean enjoy and enjoying.

.

Sometimes Nine of Cups just translates ‘want’ and its synonyms. Even then, there’s sometimes an implication that the ‘want’ will be satisfied. For example: ‘as (fill in the other card’s influence) as you want,’ and ‘brings you what you most want.’

.

There’s a profit motive to Nine of Cups too. Watch it say ‘is worth it’ and ‘capitalizing on,’ as well as speaking of making a profit.

.

P. S.: Nine of Cups is not only being pleased; it is wanting to please. (Not today though.)

.

.

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                        LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. ….. …     .

.

Three of Swords is when everything goes against you. But its meaning extends to merely ‘difficult’ and hence to long shots, unfavorable or hostile environments, contrarian attitudes and approaches (‘no matter what’ situations), and to fighting for something or doing something the hard way. It even means bad (‘inclimate’) weather, and it even means to simply be against something, or to have hurt feelings. So don’t be ascared of Three of Swords!

.

Three of Swords obviously is for more real suffering too: hurting, pain, heart problems, surgery, litigation, and general adversity and difficulties.

.

Three of Swords is also a member of the hate, fights, quarrels, feuds, war, injury and wounds club of Tarot meanings. It is also the main card for getting fired or quitting, divorce, and spiteful snarly nasty people. Not to mention: the enemy.

.

Nine of Cups is as much a ‘good card’ as Three of Swords is a ‘bad card.’ At his worst, Nine of Cups is excess and greed, and the ‘I got mine’ attitude.

.

Nine of Cups is the feelgood card, like Star is. We (everybody, really) call this the ‘your wish is granted’ card. Your dream come true card. I did it my way, and things are going my way, and I got exactly what I want … card.

.

Nine of Cups is satisfied, is pleased. Nine of Cups also wants to please. Nine of Cups is glad, too. It translates ‘benefit’ and ‘pleasure,’ and ‘feel so good about it.’

.

Nine of Cups means ‘enough,’ means ‘plenty’ and means ‘excess.’ See the nine empties on the ledge behind the chubby grinning figure? Think of this continuum as enough liquor, plenty of liquor that makes you feel good all over, and an excess of liquor.

.

In the same continuum, Nine of Cups means having enough, doing well, and being rich or even too rich. Nine of cups is into money too. Besides the obvious being rich shown in the picture, Nine of Cups means ‘worth it,’ profit, to capitalize upon, the return on investment, money for yourself which would be net profit, and ‘gain.’ The concept you find in commerce and financial planning of *capitalizing on losses* is here in real personal life.

.

So we have on the left things being pretty painful and a loss; and we have on the right things being pretty great and a gain: total contrast. In the middle is a neutral sort of card, Knight of Wands, whose main meanings are to get on with things, to be motivated, to get out of something, to rush or hurry, to move on out or be transferred, to avoid, to pursue, to get ahead, to be on the road, or over-the-road travel, and to be gung-ho with great energy.

.

The contrast between the good feeling and satisfaction of Nine of Cups and the bad feeling and disappointment of Three of Swords is our story and our message for this post. We have these ‘The gain is worth the pain’ sentences – a lot of them, and there could have been more. Just a few examples of the contrast: So glad you shorted that fast-mover. Got out of heartache. Enjoying the benefit of having gone through the pain. Get out of a bad relationship for your dream to come true. Just enough pain to motivate. A divorce makes you happy. You get out of hell like you want to.

. ….. .    .

Am I more motivated to make things as I want them to be when they are difficult, or am I more motivated to pursue what’s best when conditions are favorable? Sometimes a setback gives me this ‘Come hell or high water, I’m gonna get where I’m going’ attitude. Sometimes a potential reward or profit is all it takes to get me going.

Tarot Readings for You for October 5, Wednesday, 2016

Oct 4, 2016 by

GUIDANCE              We are talking about being grateful for the challenges (and the tormentors) that have made us stronger. We are talking about desiring to toughen up. Realistically, we see their ill-gotten gains that we are robbed of, and the satisfaction the takers get from being wise guys, but we also feel gratitude for being who we are … not them.

.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into three sections: Guidance; Group Tarot Cards Readings; Learn Tarot by Observing and Learn Tarot by Pictures.

So what do you want to do? –

Did you come here for YOUR PREDICTIONS? daily trends? –

*Then you read the summary above, titled GUIDANCE,

*Then you read the one-sentence readings below titled GROUP TAROT CARDS READINGand you’re done: See you tomorrow. Invite your friends. At the very bottom are comments. New! – the black boxes to the right as you scroll down allow you to comment right there.

GROUP TAROT CARDS READING is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the three cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.

.

Tarot Readings: Five of Swords and Nine of Cups

.. … ..

Personally, I see ill-gotten gains here.

I know how you get a kick out of beating the odds.

I examine myself: I want to toughen up.

Craving revenge here, I know just how to get it.

Ask yourself: Do you want it enough to fight for it?

Uh, I think greed is getting the best of me.

.

Tarot Readings: Five of Swords and Page of Pentacles

.. … ..

He wants to be known as a wise guy.

I possess an intimidating presence.

He’s the type who takes whatever he wants.

The challenges I went through to get where I want to be.

Making myself be the person I want to be.

Yeah, I want to be a snarly dude like him.

Deeply grateful to my tormentors for what I know now.

.

Tarot Readings: Nine of Cups and Page of Pentacles

. … …x n xx

Glad I’m figuring out this narcissist thing.

He is staring at what he wants … to steal.

Why do I dream of this bad-boy?: Think!

I want to be myself in spite of of the competition.

He knows how to get rich on other people’s money.

He wants to be antagonistic: There’s something in it for him.

Observing the satisfaction this person gets out of being abused.

.

Five of Swords Five of Swords has this split personality that arises from human psychology – the psychology that bullies and assorted abusers justify their actions as getting even for real or imagined grievances. They’re getting even with the world. So you find Five of Swords talking about ‘the challenges I face’ and ‘beating the odds’ right along with ill-gotten gains, wise guys, being antagonistic, revenge and theft. ‘A snarly dude’ is right alongside ‘my tormentors.’

.

So you have to be careful with this card: It’s about taking advantage, and being taken advantage of. The action commonly applies both ways in Tarot; that’s part of its philosophy. Five of Swords can refer (especially with Page of Pentacles, which strongly can mean ‘myself’) to making yourself do something as well as forcing yourself upon others, intimidating them.

.

What you see in the illustration bears explaining. The fellow with the snide smirk is claiming his friends’ swords as conquest, when they were jousting for fun and practice. He is therefore attempting to rob them of their ancestral lands. This is where ‘taking advantage’ and stealing comes to belong to Five of Swords.

Nine of Cups – Nine of Cups is all about the satisfaction of things going your way and having what you want. It’s about enough and it’s about too much. Think Thanksgiving Dinner, because Nine of Cups also means gratitude and being glad. The illustration shows a fellow who ate it all and drank it all and is feeling no pain.

.

This Nine of Cups is an anchor card – is one that has few and clear meanings, so that you look to it first to determine what a spread is saying, to save time and trouble.

.

Nine of Cups refers to having money as well as possessing and being content. So very often it translates ‘I want,’ with an implication of having whatever it is. It can extend all the way to greed, to the ‘I got mine’ vibe. But on the other end of its spectrum, it’s grateful and content for what it does have.

.

Nine of Cups is your dream, is the kick you get out of something, and is satisfaction. It often translates forms of the word ‘satisfaction.’

.

Page of Pentacles We’re pretty simple over here at Page of Pentacles, another anchor card. We are all about think, feel, and identity. Often, we translate just a pronoun: I, he, him, himself, myself, yourself, and words that have the same import, words like ‘person’ and ‘personally.’ We also often translate a combination of ‘think’ or ‘feel’ (or some synonym of them) plus one of the pronouns. So ‘he is thinking’ or ‘I know how to.’

.

Page of Pentacles (like Page of Wands) means a type of person – the type referred to being another card’s contribution. It shows up for self-examination, for a person’s perspective, for figuring out, for being oneself.

.

Pages were apprentice knights. It was their business to fit into the culture of knighthood as best they could. They were students learning their family trade. So Page of Pentacles is a young person, a student, a well-behaved conformist.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                       LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. ….. …     ..

.

At first glance, you ask yourself ‘What is Five of Swords doing here?’ because Nine of Cups and Page of Pentacles talk about a person having whatever makes him happy and satisfied … and that’s not being taken advantage of like Five of Swords often stands for. But Five of Swords has some lite meanings, even some ‘good’ ones – which its present company brings out in him. Challenge. ‘Beating’ or overcoming. Even strong self-assertion. So you are (Page of Pentacles) standing up for yourself forcefully (Five of Swords) like you always wanted to (Nine of Cups) – and you feel really good about that (Nine of Pentacles).

.

Page of Pentacles can be in deep thought, looking back as part of self-examination. Here are a few scenarios. One is you looking (Page of Pentacles) at what you went through (Five of Swords) to get where you are (Page of Pentacles), which is where you want to be (Nine of Cups). Another is a conscious (Page of Pentacles) desire to (Nine of Cups) be tougher, more assertive (Five of Swords). Yet another is asking yourself (Page of Pentacles) ‘Do I (Page of Pentacles) want it enough (Nine of Cups) to fight for it (Five of Swords)?’

.

Let Five of Swords get together with Nine of Cups … and Page of Pentacles is just watching and standing by … and you have ill-gotten (Five of Swords) gains (Nine of Cups), and ‘I know (Page of Pentacles) you want to (Nine of Cups) steal (Five of Swords)’ or ‘I know (Page of Pentacles) you want to (Nine of Cups) cheat (Five of Swords),’ or you describe someone staring at (Page of Pentacles) what he wants to (Nine of Cups) steal (Five of Swords). But, hey, they also say ‘I want to (Page of Pentacles and Nine of Cups) beat the odds (Five of Swords)’ or even ‘I’m so glad (Page of Pentacles and Nine of Cups) I beat the odds (Five of Swords).

.

Page of Pentacles is about who you are, about identity. It is also about knowing. So all by itself, Page of Pentacles can be a person who is known as (whatever the other card(s) refer to). Reputation, what people think. Page of Pentacles is also self-image, thinking that you are (whatever the other card(s) refer to). So drop Five of Swords onto this plate, and you have ‘wanting (Nine of Cups) to be known as (Page of Pentacles) a tough guy (Five of Swords),’ or wanting to be (Page of Pentacles and Nine of Cups) an antagonistic bad-boy (Five of Swords).’ Page of Pentacles as image combined with Five of Swords as intimidation says ‘an intimidating image.’ Five of Swords and Page of Pentacles also describe a person who takes what he wants, a narcissist – a person with any of the characteristics of Five of Swords, in other words. (Note that ‘a person who takes what he wants’ belongs to Five of Swords, and yet Nine of Cups means ‘what he wants’ too.)

.

We can’t overlook ‘I want to be myself’ here. Nine of Cups is the ‘want to’ of course and Page of Pentacles is ‘myself.’ These two Tarot cards also say ‘I know what I want.’

.

Five of Swords is the tough guy or ruffian, punk or bully; Page of Pentacles is the good guy, one who behaves and conforms.

.

In some sentences, Page of Pentacles ‘thinking’ can mean the same thing as Nine of Cups ‘wanting.’

.

If there’s an overall single message from these three cards, it’s advice to contemplate to what lengths you would go to get what you want – like, whether it’s worth it, or am I being ruthless – and also advice to observe to what lengths someone in your environment might be willing to go to get what they want involving you.

.. ….. …     ..

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:

At first glance, you ask yourself ‘What is Five of Swords doing here?’ because Nine of Cups and Page of Pentacles talk about a person having whatever makes him happy and satisfied … and that’s not being taken advantage of like Five of Swords often stands for. .. ….. …     ..

.

.

.

Here’s an odd contrast: that someone is mighty satisfied at how he took foul advantage, and his victim is also benefiting from that experience, being wiser and more thoughtful. You could say both parties in a very unfair exchange got something they wanted.

Tarot Readings for You for August 13-14, Weekend, 2016

Aug 13, 2016 by

GUIDANCE              “Everybody knows” doesn’t always mean everybody acknowledges openly. We are looking at visceral (gut level) likes and dislikes. We have no idea of the roots of our preferences. (Why do I hate yellow-green and love to cook?) Why do I feel I belong and why do I feel I don’t belong? Happy endings require some kind of conflict, and after we fight, I realize how much we love one another.

Against all the odds, I am intensely happy.

The Muse sees a happy ending in conflict.

It strikes me that well-adjusted people rub me the wrong way.

I see how it’s the conflict that makes the happy ending.

We love one another fiercely even when we are mad.

Got an open mind toward friends and enemies.

I feel I belong, and I feel I don’t belong.

Together in good times and bad – that’s deep feeling.

.

Tarot Readings: Three of Swords and Hanged Man

A bad relationship inspires us into a good one.

Intuition from deep within about our lover’s-quarrel.

I understand the perspective of people who disagree with me.

Splitting up made me realize we belong together.

I get this urge to disagree when everyone agrees.

It strikes me how hateful some people I know are.

Everybody knows (you) are having a hard time.

The urge to split is universal.

Firing the malcontent, everybody else is thrilled out of their minds.

When things go wrong, I tap into a good feeling.

I feel for everybody whose parade gets rained on.

I see how people of goodwill stick together in this cold cruel world.

Everybody around here is of one mind against something.

Our strongest feelings are about what we are against.

You realize you love them when they have a stroke.

.

Three of Swords  The picture gives away a lot of Three of Swords’ meanings. You see the stormy weather, the suffering and broken heart, and you get the feeling this is about adverse circumstances and hard times. In Three of Swords, you have the cold cruel world raining on your parade. You probably see heart trouble, and you may even see heart surgery (knife on the heart) or other surgery.

.

Three of Swords is about personal conflict, dislike and hate, bad relationships and enemies. Three of Swords is being where you don’t belong … or feeling someone else is.

.

Firing (or getting fired, of course) is Three of Sword; and since it also is about hostile or disagreeable people – malcontents, say – Three of Swords can do double duty and say ‘firing the malcontent.’ Three of Swords is about divorce or splitting up; even quarreling and disagreeing belong to Three of Swords. A bad relationship belongs to Three of Swords.

.

Three of Swords is what you are against, as well as when things are against you. Being in the wrong place, the people ‘rub you the wrong way.’

.

Three of words is also fighting an war if there are some strong conflict or fighting going on. Watch for this Tarot card, though, to tone down other baddies as it says ‘against.’ As ‘against,’ it can say ‘against fighting’ with another card that supplies the ‘fighting.’ Most of the baddie-cards are capable of canceling one another out: Watch for that.

Ten of Cups Here you have the polar opposite of Three of Swords. Everybody gets along, agrees, and is happy in Ten-of-Cups-Land. Ten of Cups is Us and Ten of Cups is ‘our.’ Ten of Cups is the good relationship, is the loving couple, the happy home, the good people, agreement, togetherness, belonging, and Ten of Cups is ‘everybody.’

.

Ten of Cups’ more general meanings are harder to pin down. Words like ‘universal’ and ‘goodwill’ and ‘serendipity’ and ‘unity’ are Ten of Cups. Ten of Cups could be about, say everybody in the world who shares an interest or sentiment or membership in anything – all the people who knit, who are Lutherans, who have ‘family values,’ or who are fans of something. And, yes, Ten of Cups is therefore a mass consciousness card when that’s called for.

.

You see the fine home this happy couple is so happy about. Ten of Cups is a member in good standing of the real estate tribe in Tarot Verbatim™, so it stands in for house, home, neighborhood – usually the good neighborhood for children, and usually the fine comfortable home. (It’s Six of Cups that stands in for the cozy cottage, quaint house.

Hanged Man Well, this title and picture are unsettling and puzzling to the Tarot tourist. Hanged Man is a composite of several myths in which the protagonist (the star of the story) sacrifices a body part and hanged himself on a tree for three days in order to acquire ‘wisdom.’ It always says ‘wisdom’ and it always means psychic insight and paranormal powers.

.

Buffalo Springfield sang a song about being hung upside-down. You feel disoriented and are seeing everything for the first time again when you begin spiritual and psychic life … until the paranormal becomes your normal. This illustration illustrates that.

.

Hanged Man most often translates ‘realize,’ ‘get it,’ ‘understand,’ ‘see,’ ‘feel,’ and other synonyms of this meaning. Hanged Man is also about an urge or impulse out of instinct or inspiration. Hanged Man often translates ‘intense,’ because being disoriented – upside-down with your hair on fire – is, yes, intense. It will sometimes stand in for something that is intense – like ‘thrilled out of your mind.’ This is also one of the cards for a thought that strikes – Tower and Judgment are some others.

.

And Hanged Man is all about inspiration. This is the card, the main one, to mean the subconscious or superconscious. It is the card for The Muse (inspiration, of course). This is the card for psychism – for telepathy, eureka, deja vu, visions, channeling, for tapping into ‘out there’ stuff.

.

.. ….. …     ..

So Hanged Man is that deep understanding that surpasses all other understanding – the knowing and the feeling from down under and from ‘up there.’

.

So what is he understanding today? We have friends (Ten of Cups) and enemies (Three of Swords). We have loving one another (Ten of Cups) and hating. So together they can say ‘Love your enemies.’ That’s a lot for a Hanged Man to understand.

.

Here are some opposites that Three of Swords and Ten of Cups join together: Happy in bad times; happy ending of a conflict; happy someone was fired; not liking well-adjusted people; a bad relationship makes another one good; men of goodwill hanging together in the cold cruel world; understanding people who disagree with me (That’s not as hard as loving enemies.); love you when I’m mad with you; splitting up makes a reunion; wanting to disagree when there’s agreement all around; good times and bad; belonging and not belonging.

.

You could say our message is to use your intuition and your spiritual maturity about who you get along with, who you don’t get along with … and how. Loving everybody when some of them hate each other does require the inspiration of The Muse or some other Higher Power.

.. ….. …     ..

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:

.

So together they can say ‘Love your enemies.’ That’s a lot for a Hanged Man to understand.

.. ….. …     ..

.

.

.

Liking one thing is supposed to mean you don’t like another, and liking one person is supposed to mean you don’t like another. Believing one thing means you have to like some fella or gal or organization that promotes that thing. Most everybody I know has thought-loyalties. If you call yourself a Whatever, you can’t believe Whatnot. If you’re a This, you believe That. Stop it already! Decide on what you do and you don’t love, and what you do and you don’t believe … and let the profiling sort itself out.

.

Hierophant You could say Hierophant is the part that’s fit to print. You see the pope doing a ritual, which is his routine activity, so Hierophant also means: usual, routine and routinely, and what should be, official, average, ordinary and normal.

.

Hierophant takes ‘proper,’ ‘right,’ and ‘supposed to, and expands it to the breaking point: It even means having papers, a title or name (including making a name for yourself, at times), straight (including ‘playing it straight’), should, ought, entitled, good (and that’s a theme in Tarot Verbatim™, of course), respectable, decent, harmless, etc. Of course it means anything about church or religion.

.

Hierophant is going along with the program (re the ritual, of course), conforming, cooperating, behaving, doing no harm, being conservative, committing, etc.

.

Hierophant means ‘average’ in all sorts of ways – even ‘the average of,’ ‘the mean,’ ‘average Joe.’

.

Hierophant also means ‘safe’ in its various forms: safety, safely, the safe way, playing it safe. It refers to a safe road or a safe car, when other cards supply the road, the car, or whatever else is ‘safe’ in your spread.

Hermit Hermit has many trunks to its meaning tree, but we are using the mundane (daily, ordinary, physically oriented) ones, mainly because of Hierophant’s influence on Hermit. So today, Hermit is about being a good person – being honest, warm and caring, devout, calm and patient, monogamous, helping and helping a friend and being a friend.

.

Hermit is out looking, carrying a light at night, which brings up anything about looking, seeing, inspecting, keeping eyes on the road (from the influence of Chariot, of course). Hermit also belongs to the theme of ‘night’ in Tarot Verbatim™.

.

Hermit is wise, and is a doctor, which brings words like: medic, learning how, discovering, knowing how, and even inspecting and surveilling.

ChariotThis is a commander in war, and the strategist. Chariot is capable, in charge and responsible. His main meanings are about success and achieving: successful, succeed, champion, he is in charge, achieve, achieve your purpose, getting ahead, handling it. And these, about achieving: achieve, achieve your purpose, getting ahead, handling it. Plus any form of the word ‘responsible.’

.

Charioteers were the strategists, the decision makers in a great enterprise or endeavor: war. ‘Decide’ and ‘choose’ – in all their forms – belong solidly to Chariot – as does: on purpose – deliberately, determined, dedicated, intends.

.

Chariot represents any vehicle (including ships and planes) and ‘most anything to do with vehicles – things today like car, truck driver, vehicle, drive, hands on the wheel.

.

Just as we are not using many of the meanings of Hermit due to Mr. Hierophant’s influence, we are also not using many of the meanings of Chariot – especially the esoteric or magical ones.

When you have all the Tarot cards in your layout meaning the same or nearly the same things, your readings will contain the same elements, have far less variation in their topics. All three of these Major Arcanae are about being right and doing right. So that’s our theme.

.

Hierophant – as the pope – means all kinds of ‘right’ all kinds of ways, of course. Hermit – a a monk – also means being right, doing right, and all kinds of virtues. Chariot is still about ‘right’ but in a different way: Chariot is succeeding, getting the project done, being responsible, taking charge, and winning. Winning any way at any cost, though.

.

Hierophant and Hermit both have religious and spiritual meanings, of course.

.

Hermit and Chariot are both on the road – Chariot by way of ‘driving a vehicle.’ But Hermit is the kind soul who is out looking to help people and Chariot is looking to kill people. Chariot is taking charge and directing people, and Hermit is taking them home to feed them.

There’s some beauty and some order in doing what you’re supposed to do in the way that you are supposed to do it – whatever it is. Today we look at a military commander and a monk with this idea of ‘what you’re supposed to do.’ Each of them are fulfilling their roles. And we are onlookers thinking our own thoughts about all this.
