Seven of Swords Seven of Swords has two main forks: One is daredevil and the other is criminal. Seven of Swords is an adventure or a mugging, a close call or a heist, a risk or a caper, a steal at the store or stolen property. Getting ripped off or making a risky investment. Think of his red socks as ‘hotfooting it’ because Seven of Swords sneaks, hotfoots it outta there, gets away with it, makes off with it, and can be a getaway story … or is going all out to do something at any cost. (Put it next to Chariot and you got a stolen car, or, with a crime story, Seven of Swords is the getaway car.)

.

So Seven of Swords can be the gray area, the shady side, the under-the table deal, the close call, or pulling it off. Seven of Swords can simply say ‘on thin ice,’ danger or dangerous, and to dare.

.

F. Y. I., Seven of Swords is the main card for assassination, black operations or mercenary activity. It means assault also, when the assault isn’t just a hotheaded reaction but more an intent, more planned.

Page of Wands To be good-looking; to talk; to be respectable; to be that person, that kind of person, or the one who – identity. These are the categories of Page of Wands. You see a young fellow, well-dressed, in the act of presenting himself proudly. As apprentice knights, pages are eager to please others so they show their best face to the world.

.

As the main identity card (along with Page of Pentacles), Page of Wands can say ‘I am.’ Page of Wands is handsome, good-looking, cute.

.

Today Page of Wands says these phrases about having a good name: respectable man, he’s clean, is on his good behavior, is respectable, has such a good name, is in good shape.

.

Page of Wand belongs to the speak/tell/say Tarot tribe, and these words and phrases indicate that: is a talker; the word is; here to talk about it; he is just the one to talk about it; the verbal; advice; telling you; I’m telling.

Temperance Wine and water being poured together by an angel with a healing symbol on his chest. Temperance is one of the cards put into the deck to keep the people who used Tarot from being accused of witchcraft (a capital crime prosecuted by the Roman Catholic church in the Middle Ages). Because diluting the wine is pious … and see the angel? None of these meanings (abstaining from alcohol, dilution) show up for Temperance in my experience.

.

Temperance is intimacy, love relationship, back-and-forth transactions, deals and dealing, face-to-face or person-to-person or hand-to-hand deals and dealing, partners and partnership and intimate partners, close relationship, close friends, conversation, responding to conversation, reciprocating and reciprocal, pairing up or just propinquity (being in the same place with). As you can see, the back and forth movement creates most of Temperance’s meanings.

.

Temperance also means healing because of that symbol on the angel’s chest. This meaning is encouraged by Page of Wands (as the physical body, and being in good shape), Ace of Cups (which also means healing or good health), and Judgment (which means recovery and has what looks like the same angel). Other ‘good health’ cards seldom or never show up for this purpose.

.

. ….. ..

So you’re in an intimate relationship ( Temperance) with someone who’s very upstanding, who’s a man of his word or a woman of her word ( Page of Wands), who’s cheating in some sleazy way ( Seven of Swords). Or it’s a friend ( Temperance), or a business deal ( Temperance), or a business partner ( Temperance), or just someone you associate with because they’re around you ( Temperance). We are talking about ( Page of Wands) a risky ( Seven of Swords) relationship ( Temperance) of any sort.

.

Seven of Swords is the cheating. But Seven of Swords also represents daring and Temperance is a relationship, a close one usually. So instead of being a back-alley relationship you are in, it could be a very adventuresome one. (Heck, it could be both risky and risque.) The best kind.

.

Page of Wands and Temperance both are about communication, talking. Page of Wands speaks up or speaks out, and Temperance is a dialog, talking back and forth, conversation. Since Seven of Swords is intrigue and stealing, that conversation could be intercepted when he joins in. Or of course the conversation could be about a crime or a disreputable individual that one person is telling the other about.

. ….. .      .

.

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES

.

. ….. .     .

So you’re in an intimate relationship (Temperance) with someone who’s very upstanding, who’s a man of his word or a woman of her word (Page of Wands), who’s cheating in some sleazy way (Seven of Swords). . ….. .     .

.

.

.

.

You know how some people bring out a part of you that otherwise doesn’t come out? We are looking at a very straight-arrow fellow and his disreputable friend who puts him up to adventures he would otherwise never have dreamed of being involved in. And on the very next page here’s that sleazeball who’s on his best behavior when he is hanging out with us. But sometimes you find a respectable man and a criminal are partners together, too. There’s the part of the deal they talk about, that’s fit to print, and there’s that other part that not in print.

Seven of Swords What do we see here?, you ask. Here’s a fellow who sneaks into enemy camp to make off with their weapons. But note his red cap, red socks (those don’t look like shoes to me), note that he is doing this in broad daylight, and is carrying the swords blade-down in his bare hands. That’s where this Seven of Swords card comes to mean self-destructive behavior and taking foolish risks, hazards and danger. But at the moment he is pulling off his caper, and getting away with this shenanigan.

Seven of Swords is about risky adventure, violating trust, double-crossing, sneaking, self-destructive activity (usually solo), revenge, cheating, illegal acts and criminal behavior (and criminals, of course) including assassination, murder, sabotage. And if you’re looking for a terrorist in Tarot, here he is. Seven of Swords is illicit, is shady dealing, is cheating on someone who trusts, is violating … violating just about anything not just the law and the rules. Seven of Swords and Five of Swords are the cards for the thief and the stealing. So Seven of Swords can simply add ‘the bad guy’ to your reading.

.

But of course every heavy has his light side, and every guerrilla is a potential hero to someone? The light side of Seven of Swords is daring, adventure, risk, long shots, that ‘walk on the wild side’ that ‘most every human does at least once, having the guts and having the gall. And simply being the bad guy, sometimes. Seven of Swords (and his partner in crime, Five of Swords) translate ‘pull it off’ at times.

Page of Wands Page of Wands is that clean-cut upstanding young fellow we all know, who means well and minds his speech and appearance, aiming to please. This is the card for a person being in good physical condition or shape; it can even say ‘physical’ in the right context (usually with Hierophant, who also translates ‘physical.’ He is so well-dressed he can come across as a dandy, or, as moderns say, a metrosexual. ‘Boyish’ is what Page of Wands translates when he is no longer as young as he is acting or looking.

.

Respectable. That’s our Page of Wands guy. Today: I look respectable; I’m a good guy; a straight; a clean-cut guy; a straight arrow, perfectly respectable, squeaky clean. The Boy Scout. He is Prince Charming sometimes too. And the front man, and the spokesperson.

.

Page of Wands is mainly the good-looking man, the young man, and talking. Here’s a major member of the speak/tell/say Tarot club, and even here there is usually a positive spin: to speak up, to speak out, to say what you really feel, say what you really believe – that goes along with being a stand-up guy.

.

Combine ‘good-looking man’ or ‘handsome boy’ with speak/tell/say and you get ‘flirt.’ Page of Wands is your Tarot card for a fellow who’s a flirt. “He’s soo cute,” the too-young girls say of Page of Wands.

.

Page of Wands is famous for his good intentions, but he doesn’t have any accomplishments yet. Like pages everywhere, he is an apprentice knight – has slain no dragons as yet. But he has a good name and is ‘of good family,’ as the ancients would say.

Temperance No clues from this illustration! Temperance is, in my humble opinion, an expendable Tarot card. One would think this card would stand for dilution (adding water to wine) and to cutting back on drinking – because temperance means moderation in drinking. But no such application occurs in my practice. (If it does in yours, well, let me know!) You would think Temperance would join in the theme of a flow of water or other liquid, but it very seldom does.

.

However, Temperance does join the theme of motion back and forth. You see Two of Pentacles with it then, as a rule. This is how Temperance can say ‘gets back to you on that.’

.

In real life, Temperance usually is about dealing with another person, or a deal or transaction or interaction, and is about communication or conversation between two people (dialog). Very often, Temperance translates: together, get together, in this together, etc.

.

Temperance is one of the relationship cards – a main one. Temperance is the main card that says ‘intimate relationship.’ This card can indicate to a woman that, yes, this is the lover who will talk to you! And Temperance will say ‘buddy’ and ‘close friend’ as well as ‘associate.’ It also says ‘couple’ and ‘the two of them’ or ‘the two of us.’ It also translates ‘joint’ when that means two persons together.

.

And speaking of that, this Temperance card is a member of the Pronoun Theme in Tarot Verbatim: It translates: us, we, them, they, ourselves, yourselves, those two, the pair of them, etc.

.

Temperance is activity by two people, between two people. It can be simply propinquity in some contexts: two people standing in the same place next to one another. Temperance is about two people who share in something – whether in an activity or in ownership, or whatever else. It will even indicate codefendants or cosigners.

.

Temperance is being partners or dealing with partners. It is also partnership itself – informing you, say, that the company you ask about is a partnership.

.

Temperance indicates, as the picture illustrates, a flow back and forth between two parties. It indicates, yes, there is a response. It indicates that it’s not just one deal, but one deal after another between these two parties: back and forth.

Page of Wands and Temperance are both talking. Page of Wands is one person saying something, and Temperance is a dialog between two persons, or two sides, or refers to talking to a couple or partners. The other card is about some chancy or daring activity, from an adventure to an assassination.

.

As usual, stories from this three-card spread arise from the other meanings of the involved cards that mean the same thing ( Page of Wands and Temperance as talking), so we are not just talking. Temperance alone yields pronouns: us, we, them, they, themselves, ourselves, yourselves, along with phrases like those two, the pair of them, buddy, close friend, associate, intimate partner. Temperance is interaction, dealing with, intimacy, transactions, responding or reciprocating. Page of Wands is an individual, a flirt, is young, proud, handsome, is in good physical shape, and it contributes the respectability theme.

.

The other card is the backbone of the storyline. Seven of Swords is up for anything risque or reckless. Seven of Swords has the gall, has the nerve, is a bad guy who gets away with shady dealing behind your back. Today we make a distinction in the people we deal with between the decent respectable person and the smooth operator. It’s fashionable to, as they say, not be judgmental, but good judgment is what keeps your boots on the curb when the tractor trailer is driving on the wrong side of the road. On the other hand, going by how good a person we are interacting with looks can also be dicey. So, as the ancients used to say, we shall be ‘circumspect.’ Nice old word that.

Feb 24, 2015 by

GUIDANCE           Risk your heart just like you risk your wallet. Joint finances can be a drain, or maybe we can pull off something together. Gambling is playing around with your money, and a fling is playing around with your heart. In a chancy industry, dealing just with one party long term is a sure profit, and having just one love long term is also a sure profit.

.

Are YOU here for the first time?  Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the three cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS  is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

………..………..………..………..

Seven of Swords – Two of Wands – Temperance

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………    Seven of Swords is a consummate party pooper. Your spread is very unlikely to be all good with him around. Seven of Swords represents risk, whether the risk is a derring-do, a hazard, being cheated on, financial treachery. Seven of Swords is the back-stabber, the embezzler, the assassin or mugger. Today he is next door to the banker as Two of Wands: financial scam. But Temperance is next door to Two of Wands. Two of Wands, with Temperance around, is the solid citizen, the stable situation, the long term perspective, the good outlook … and business, commerce. Temperance makes that good business, a deal being a sure thing, and dealing with a close friend as a partner in trade. So we have a spectrum here, making the gist of our dissertation to invest wisely, balancing the risk with the reward, whether we are investing our heart or our wallet.

………………………..   Seven of Swords is the trespasser, treading where he does not belong. He exemplifies the saying that ‘One man’s hero is another man’s terrorist.’ He is stealing the enemy’s weapons, but look at him holding them by the blade. So he can represent a self-destructive person hellbent on some thing. Stealing the enemy’s weapons is tantamount, in social life, to violating another’s defenses. Seven of Swords is stealing, which makes this card refer to criminal behavior and criminals. He is also the assassin. He is sneaking away, so you could call him the sneaky bastard in some of your spreads. He also represents a long shot.

Now let’s look on the other side of Seven of Swords. That is having the guts, the nerve, the daring, to pull something off, to get away with something. Seven of Swords can be advice to take a chance, to be the risk taker.

……………………….. Two of Wands is the conservative moneyed citizen, the opposite of the risk taker we have in Seven of Swords. Two of Wands is the sure thing as Seven of Swords is the risky venture. The two of them suggest ‘risk to benefit’ ratio, although Temperance doesn’t quite mean the ‘ratio,’ but close. Two of Wands is ‘Things are under control here’ and Seven of Swords is the destabilizing influence to that. Two of Wands is the wealthy class in control; Seven of Swords is the saboteur. Two of Wands has the World in his hand; Seven of Swords has the weapons. Together they can be the rule of thugs, but not today, with Temperance tempering them.

…………..……………  Temperance is a relationship or deal, like Three of Pentacles is. Its flow back and forth represents balance. Seven of Swords is the liability side of the ledger or balance sheet; Two of Wands is the asset side; so Temperance is their balancing. Two of Wands is not just two parties dealing back and forth, reciprocally, but also two people together, on the same side, two buddies or friends. Seven of Swords and Temperance are two pals in cahoots, pulling off some caper or even crime. Temperance is a strong relationship card, even meaning intimate relationship – but not today, with these two companions framing its application.

Our layout captures the feeling of proceeding at your own risk, and planning the course according to where the hazards are like a golf game. A big point is ‘Deal with someone you know.’ We look at the extremes of the wealthy landholder who owns the town he lives in, and the daring operative who can undo that power at least partially. We kind of suggest that each of us plays each of those roles at one time or another in our own way.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Seven of Swords……… Seven of Swords is hotfooting it out of the camp he just robbed of its weapons. (Don’t you love those red socks?) The trunks of his meaning, in this illustration, are the daring; the stealing; the act of war, making this a potentially violent card – the assassin or mugger, in fact; the sabotage; the special ops type of hero; the self-destructive person – and that’s because he holds those heavy weapons’ blades in his bare hand. This is the card for smuggling, especially, of course, arms smuggling. Seven of Swords is the card for stolen property.

.

Two of Wands…………. Two of Wands can have grand plans because he has money; he owns the place and rents it out for maximum profit. He can be the banker, the big businessman. He can also be a stable person, and be in control. The card does not have to be a person; it can be the bank, control itself, your bank account, your mortgage, etc. Two of Wands is also one of the future tense cards: It can put your sentence into future tense, often with the word ‘will’ and ‘will be.’

.

Temperance  ………. Temperance is just the two of us; we are in this together; we are on the same side; we are partners; it’s our deal, or we are dealing with another person. The water and wine poured back and forth symbolizes any back-and-forth activity, and also suggest ‘balance’ sometimes. Temperance is the main card for intimate relationship.
