GUIDANCE                Like a rattlesnake camouflaged in your woodpile is one of those easygoing nogoodnik friends who are on the take all the time. That slow smile. That relaxed voice. So agreeable to everything because, of course, they don’t believe in anything in particular unless someone is around who does. This is how you get away with being consistently on the take, I am telling myself.

Two of Pentacles Ups and down. Back and forth. Round and round – another round. Constant, consistent. Unstable too. Think movement first when you see Two of Pentacles. The stable consistent movement comes from the ability of the performer (another meaning of this card) dancing whilst juggling. The unstable movement comes of course from the ships being heaved about by the waves.

.

The branch of the unstable meanings produces words like ‘maybe’ and ‘iffy.’ ‘Whether or not’ and the indecisive applications of this Two of Pentacles card also arise from the ‘unstable’ category of meanings. So does ‘if.’ Remember Two of Pentacles makes things conditional, as in today’s ‘should you choose to be.’ ‘Gives him butterflies’ we say today: Two of Pentacles can be the nausea you feel on a tossing ship.

.

The constant movement makes Two of Pentacles yet another card that can say ‘always’ and ‘again’ and ‘keeps being’ or ‘keeps doing’ phrases. One after another.

.

The movement in the illustration makes Two of Pentacles pick up the word ‘turn’ in its forms. Turns out to be. Turns around. It also gives Two of Pentacles membership in the ‘come back’ or ‘return’ Tarot tribe.

Knight of Cups Here’s Sir Galahad. Here’s The Warm Puppy. Here’s The Good Guy. Good-natured, the kind of person who sells us on himself (or herself) and whatever else he sells or believes. The warm fuzzy cards are drawn in Rider Waite with relaxed lines and softer, inviting colors. His horse (you can tell from its posture) has been standing there for a while and is in a mellow mood. Our knight (wearing Mercury’s wings on his helmet) holds the cup of friendship out to someone: He takes the friendly initiative.

.

So Knight of Cups is the Boyfriend card. He and Page of Wands can read ‘Prince Charming.’ Words today for this sort of thing are: lovable, helping, accepting, good-natured, be good to you, his good nature, good person, warmhearted friend, with my heart, boyfriend, romantic initiative, affectionate man, be a good-guy, fine manners, being a lover, and your best friend.

.

Today we do not emphasize much the giving-and-accepting meanings of Knight of Cups. That applies especially to suggestions: giving a suggestion, accepting a suggestion. Knight of Cups is a ‘much obliged to help’ type person.

.

As such an easygoing good guy, Knight of Cups also slips over into ‘goody two shoes’ territory today. People call you that when you aren’t dirty enough for them.

Seven of SwordsIn broad daylight (the bright yellow sky) he sneaks into enemy camp and makes off with as many of their good weapons as he can carry. No sheath on those blades he holds in his gloveless hands, so our hero is acting impulsively and recklessly; this isn’t a planned-out mission in the picture. He is self-destructive, daring, gutsy, and adventurous.

.

But he is successful. That is the point: He gets away with it. We all love a successful bank robber in our heart of hearts, the Robin Hood. Seven of Swords is about having the guts to have the adventure to pull it off. To dare. To win the gamble.

.

So Seven of Swords is divided between the gangster, shyster, the thief, the bad-boy, the smooth operator, the cheater, the back-stabbing traitor, the violator of your trust – and the daring culture hero. In America, we combine the two and applaud the bad-guy who dispatches worse-guys to their doom.

Knight of Cups is the guy we all root for, the Good Guy. Seven of Swords is the Bad Guy we all boo. And they are introduced by ‘ it could go either way’ Two of Pentacles. Knight of Cups is the buddy who helps out, and Seven of Swords helps himself. Knight of Cups is the friend you trust, and Seven of Swords is not to be trusted, friend or not. Two of Pentacles says we go ‘round and ‘round with this process. And he is so right.

.

Seven of Swords is taking a chance, and Knight of Cups is the loving fellow, so ‘ whether to take a chance on love’ or ‘gambling again with my heart’ is another story these three Rider Waite Tarot cards are telling. This pair of cards also says ‘ one damned thing after another’ for my Knight of Cups friend. And the same pair talk about accepting ( Knight of Cups) stolen property ( Seven of Swords) being iffy.

You take your chances on being good or being bad at any given intersection, and also take your chances on the next person to you being good or being bad. Nice guys don’t get any loot, but they don’t get arrested either. Some clever people act out being the good-hearted buddy while getting away with the loot, and have the best of both worlds. At least for a while. We could be a good-guy, or we could be a bad-guy, today! Whether to ….

Nine of Pentacles – “She’s so fine,” a Beatles song. That’s you when you’re Nine of Pentacles. She is content with what she has, whatever it is, and she has her world neatly arranged for her to be able to conduct life at leisure. Everything is all right here: the first and main meaning. A confident lass.

.

Pictured is a woman in a vineyard at midday, wearing a robe, and exercising her falcon. A snail at her feet reiterates ‘lady of leisure; does things in her own time.’

.

Nine of Pentacles is associated with having money for a comfortable life: And it’s her money and her life. She is ‘in possession.’ She is usually a single woman, a businesswoman, maybe a business owner, maybe an entrepreneur.

.

She occupies her turf. Is probably a homeowner. The privacy of her own home is featured: Nine of Pentacles does not scurry about. Think of her as High Priestess with a profession.

.

Nine of Pentacles is very much associated with minding your own business and letting others mind theirs.

.

Seven of Swords Our hero or terrorist (depending on perspective of course) sneaks into enemy camp in broad daylight, steals all he can carry of their weapons, and hotfoots it out of there carrying them blade-down. The blade-down part can translate ‘negligence’ as well as self-destructive. If you are looking for an all-about-Seven-of-Swords, I have covered him in full in other spreads: Google ‘Seven of Swords Tarot Verbatim.’

.

He is taking a chance, risking life and limb on a dangerous mission in a self-destructive way. He is stealing the weapons, so he is a thief. He is also getting away, and getting away with it. (Today Six of Swords also says ‘getting away.’) Naturally, Seven of Swords is the card for stolen weapons or stealing weapons.

.

Seven of Swords is sneaking around, isn’t he? Seven of Swords is also the card for daring, having the guts, derring-do, adventure, wild days, fooling around, and generally anything risqué in any way. Sneaky stuff extends to black ops, treason and treachery. This card means undermining, trespass, double-cross, and also getting even. Despite there being no trust in the story in the illustration, Seven of Swords says ‘violation of trust’ at times.

.

Seven of Swords can be a card of assault, conspiracy, even murder if it is accompanied by some co-defendant cards. Today he brings words like these: criminal, rat-fink, robs, stolen property, delinquent, assault, sabotage.

.

Naturally, this is a lead card for danger and dangerous.

.

Six of Swords Yet another card that is about moving, and about moving in more than one direction. Six of Swords is leaving a terrible place and heading for a better one, so it is about leaving, the journey, and the arriving. Going from, and going to, or both. Launching a new life and leaving the old life behind. Six of Swords is both despair and hope: A woman and child huddle in an open boat, being helped away by the man paddling the barque. Better times are ahead, partly because it can’t get worse. Being, or feeling like, refugees. Getting away. (It can even say ‘getting away with it’ once in a while. Today it brings that meaning out in Seven of Swords.)

.

Six of Swords can translate ‘avoiding’ and ‘averse to’ and ‘count me out’ and phrases like ‘You just don’t (whatever) like you used to. You have to watch for these.

.

You can see a story here. Seven of Swords is some danger, some risk. Six of Swords is getting past it or getting over it. Nine of Pentacles is doing fine. The story is about how a dark side adventure can bring you to a good place.

.

Six of Swords is ‘avoid’ and Seven of Swords is risk. Seven of Swords is the bad guy, Six of Swords says he leaves. Seven of Swords can be living recklessly, and Six of Swords is putting those days behind you. These are the main stories.

.

Yet these three cards can say going to her house is dangerous, whether it’s the trip that’s dangerous, or her house, or maybe her, some femme fatale. They also say you don’t live in a dangerous place anymore; you have a nice place of your own. Because Six of Swords means ‘ not anymore’ as well as ‘ going to.’ (Once again, the question or topic supplies a lot of the answer, and the other knowns, as well as any other cards.)

.

These three Rider Waite Tarot cards also say “ You are doing okay and headed to even better times against all the odds.” Seven of Swords is against the odds, Nine of Pentacles is doing okay, and Six of Swords is heading.

Retire content in a comfortable life after risqué  adventures. How satisfying one’s cozy boring life at home can be if it is the culmination of narrow escapes. That’s because when you have had your fill of a particular slice of life, you do without it beautifully, safunsified. A good example of this is in St. Augustine’s letters to a very young monk who asked what to do about his sexual desires. St. Augustine said he could not advise him because ‘I became a monk after a life of frequenting all the whorehouses of Europe.’

Tarot Readings for You for November 23-24, 2017 Thursday-Friday©

Nov 22, 2017 by

Today we have two romances to look at. The men have similar things to say in our Tarot report. One is unlikely to act upon his intentions and feelings, and one has the ‘intestinal fortitude’ to do as he says and feels. Together, the two suggest that a deep examination of a lover’s behavior is in order if you are serious about a long term or marital relationship.

.

You know you can Google any one card, or any pair of cards, and get the meanings from the archives of Tarot Verbatim™, if you have been here a few times. You see how consistent the meanings are, reading after reading, in the Tarot Verbatim method. This site gets 9,000 page views a day from people who come here to use those consistent meanings. With no promotion whatsoever. And now you have a chance to learn the system directly from Emily with Tarot Email Training. There’s the bar over there that says ‘Get Them Now.’

.

Are you wondering about something or another? For a very small price, you can delve into whatever it is with an illustrated email reading like the ones you see here. I have 800 pages of them, going back some years, and everyone is pleased with them.

.

Watch here for some new Tarot products and services besides the lessons, phone readings, email readings. Right now some good people are working up an app that delivers the Guidance paragraphs selected by the astrology of the day. That should be interesting. So stay tuned.

.

.

Question: My guy has emotional barriers due to past relationships. Will we eventually be able to be fully close and affectionate?

.

Judgment – King of Pentacles – Nine of Cups

The charismatic sexy man comes back because he wants to.

.

.

Eight of Pentacles – Four of Wands – Ace of Cups

Star – Ten of Cups – Two of Swords

He loves you, crazy about gorgeous you, but doesn’t want to marry.

He loves you, is crazy about beautiful you, – Star

but he just can’t do – Two of Swords

.

.

Fool – Two of Cups – Five of Wands

He struggles to be free of the close love-bond.

He struggles – Five of Wands

to be free – Fool

of the bonds of love and sex. – Two of Cups

.

King of Pentacles is the sexy man. Empress is the sexy woman. Ace of Wands is sex. Star is ‘crazy about’ and ‘the shapely lady.’ Two of Cups is the grand sexual love affair. Two of Cups and Five of Wands say ‘sexual energy.’ He is resisting the true-love-and-marriage (Ace of Cups and Four of Wands) because the woman has such a strong influence on him (Strength).

.

Client Writes:

Hi Emily, thanks for the reading.

Do you get the feeling that he’ll never be able to commit or that this feeling that “He loves you, crazy about gorgeous you, but doesn’t want to marry” is forever?

Many thanks

.

.

Emily opines:

To me his profile is Peter Pan. I have known more than one such type fella who referred to himself as ‘The Kid.’ In today’s America, a dude does not have to grow up: He will still have the benefits of adulthood as an immature fledgling wet behind the ears. Such men, some of them, become really good companions, and commit, when they are in their seventies.

That’s Emily’s experience and Emily’s opinion, of course.

.

And since this is such a prototype description, may I use your reading as a post on the site if I need one. (They ‘buy time’ because they take far less time than the analytical 3-card spreads … and I’m working on several other Tarot projects, including the lessons, which REALLY take some time to create.

(By the way, the lessons are superb, and the book that comes with subscribing is worth at least the first month’s charge, if you do your own spreads.)

.

.

Client graciously responds:

Thanks Emily, yes of course, use the reading as you please.

Tarot Readings for You for November 16-17, 2017 Thursday-Friday©

Nov 15, 2017 by

You read these wise articles about how to get ahead at work – the crafty strategies and the virtuous strategies. In real life, though, it’s often little coincidental things that trigger a person’s career path onward and upward. One little conversation, maybe from months ago, does it.

.

Well, that’s our Querant’s question today: the next step in her career, and how is it looking? Tarot tells her a tale that is like those coincidental trigger points. She knows what traits of hers propel her to glory now.

.

You can get a reading like this right up there on the Email Reading navigation tab. Are you curious about some of these cards – how and why they mean that? Look no further than the nearest Google search bar: Just type the names of the cards you want to know about. You will get a full report from the archives of this site.

.

And if you really want to get into it, there’s a bar that says ‘Get Them Now’ that will divulge information about you becoming expert at Tarot Verbatim, and about a free book. Good book, that.

.

More products are coming to Tarot Verbatim. Sign up for the newsletter for whatever is important: We don’t bother you. At all.

Emily

Tarot Readings for You for November 1, 2017 Wednesday©

Oct 31, 2017 by

Here it is Email Wednesday again, and I am bringing you two email readings.

.

First Email Reading:

We have a lass who seeks to end a stalemate regardless. Enough of this anteroom cooling-my-heels stuff, she is thinking: “Bring it on!” Fish or cut bait, as fishermen put it.

She writes: “The fellow and I didn’t end up going out. I am getting frustrated and I want to give up. What can I do to either release this or bring this into physical form? Is this going to even turn into a relationship? I have already sent my payment.”

.

.

.

Question: What can I do to either release this or bring this into physical form?

.

Devil – Eight of Pentacles – Four of Cups

It’s one after another rude behavior on his part, and you won’t put up with it.

You refuse to have anything to do with – Four of Cups

his constant – Eight of Pentacles

rudeness. – Devil

.

.

Three of Pentacles – Ace of Cups – Ace of Swords

Order him to do his part and cooperate in this love relationship.

You give an ultimatum that – Ace of Swords

he be loving, and cooperate – Ace of Cups

in this relationship. – Three of Pentacles

.

.

Page of Cups – Justice – Five of Swords

“Fool, how do you justify your low-class smart-ass behavior?”

“You are making an ass of yourself – Page of Cups

“jerking me around like this: – Five of Swords

“and I’m laying the law down here.” – Justice

.

.

Ten of Cups – Knight of Cups – Six of Swords

He either makes both of us happy as a boyfriend, or he leaves.

“Make both of us happy – Ten of Cups

“you being my boyfriend – Knight of Cups

“or you’re outta here.” – Six of Swords

.

.

King of Swords – Ten of Pentacles – Seven of Wands

Confront him with the trouble he causes in this relationship, and he’s responsible as a grown man.

Confront him with the fact – Seven of Wands

he is a responsible grownup – King of Swords

and look at the mess he makes of the relationship he is in. – Ten of Pentacles

.

.

Hierophant – Two of Swords – Eight of Wands

Tell him “Be decent or else.”

Tell him: – Eight of Wands

“Be decent – Hierophant

“or else.” – Two of Swords

.

His behavior is not decent in any way.

His behavior – Hierophant

is not – Two of Swords

decent – Hierophant

in any way. – Eight of Wands

.

.

This is logical. “Ship up or shape out,” as the old-timers would put it, is exactly the way you feel, and this is the best move to get him to do one or the other. It’s not just the words as you deliver them, but the passion in the tone of voice, that prompts him to act. The problem is, he may do both. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode.

.

.

Second Email Reading:

And here’s a woman who wants to know whether the romance will happen, whether she has a future with the fellow who interests her. It’s one of those long distance ones when it’s hard to tell, so she asks Tarot.

.

You can ask Tarot whenever there’s something you wonder about, and get a report illustrated like the one you see here. Look up at the navigation tab labeled Email Readings; it’s inexpensive.

.

Google any one, or any pair of the cards in her answers, and see in further detail how they say what they say here. Visitors do that to train themselves to have a two-way chat with Tarot.

.

.

Email Reading

The category of life is:: Love

My question is:: I am currently in a long-distance relationship and I am wondering if anything will come of it in the future ... Will we have a successful romantic relationship?

.

Knight of Cups – Five of Swords – Ten of Cups

Bad boy is being your sweet guy, like a happy marriage.

Bad boy – Five of Swords

is being your sweet guy – Knight of Cups

Ike a good marriage (we have a lot in common). – Ten of Cups

.

.

.Knight of Swords – Ten of Pentacles – Seven of Wands

He switches to resisting that marriage as trouble for him.

He switches – Knight of Swords

to resisting – Seven of Wands

that marriage as troubled (trouble for him). – Ten of Pentacles

.

.

Judgment – Lovers – Two of Swords

He announces you two are partners in love, then shuts down.

He formally declares that – Judgment

you two are partners in love, are a couple – Lovers

then denies it, shuts down: No! – Two of Swords

.

.

King of Wands – Page of Cups – Justice

Being your legal husband? (“Should I be a married man?”)

Should I be – Page of Cups

a married man, – King of Wands

your legal – Justice

husband? – King of Wands

.

.

Seven of Swords – Knight of Wands – Seven of Cups

He flees from that peril, and things are ‘up in the air.’

He flees from – Knight of Wands

that peril – Seven of Swords

and things fall apart, are up in the air. – Seven of Cups

.

.

Hierophant – Six of Swords – Queen of Wands

He drifts toward committing to you as his wife.

He drifts away from that, and toward – Six of Swords

committing to – Hierophant

you as his wife. – Queen of Wands

.

.

This describes the phases of romance that Cosmo years ago dubbed ‘the dance-away lover.’ Off and on. And the longer that continues, the more he wears down and commits. You named ‘the future’ as the time in your question, so that’s what this covers. Outside interests as distractions that make this relationship less important will come in handy if you decide to stick with this romantic story.

.

You can Google any one, or any pair, of these cards and get more information about these – but this story is pretty straightforward.

Client emails Emily:

Thank You Emily! I have read many of your posts and I like your interpretations which is why I asked for a reading. Yes, you may use this if you would like.

Also, I am aware that this man has some commitment issues. According to our astrological charts and numerology charts, he is a Soulmate so the going back and forth sounds pretty accurate.

Out of curiosity, can you give me a time-frame on this? I know that I didn’t specify when I asked the question, but I have been told that Tarot readings don’t generally go too far into the future.

Lastly, if I have additional questions can I call to have them answered?

Thank You SO Much,

.

.

Emily replies:

rule of thumb is 3 months, unspecified, but that’s next to useless.

Let me explain why Tarot (and other divinations) don’t tell time. The story line is in one place, and it’s about interactions and existing situations, and what grows out of that.

Time is the movement of celestial bodies. The two, from ‘out there’s’ perspective, are unrelated. It’s like I’m telling you a story and you ask ‘Was the moon balsamic then?’ Irrelevant.

Another factor readers miss (partly out of choice) is that if you ask what is best for you to do, and you don’t do that, the time prediction isn’t applicable.

In this particular case, we have a back-and-forth cycle which creates a ‘yes’ over and over that is revoked over and over: where does it stop?

Advice: Push the clutch in, and disconnect that racing motor from the where the rubber meets the road. If you think of it that way, it helps.

Thank you for the permission. Does it also embrace our chat here, which enriches the reader’s experience of the post?

Client responds to Emily:

Emily,

Thank You again for the reading and for your quick response. I believe I understand what you are saying. The reason I asked about timing, is because I wasn’t aware of all of the aspects here. He hasn’t expressed much about his feelings so I was a little surprised that marriage had even come up in the reading.

If I understand correctly, you are saying that I should put my foot down and not accept the wishy-washy behavior. Is that the correct assumption based on the car analogy?

He had mentioned living together a couple of times but we never seriously discussed it. Interesting …

Yes, you can use the conversation to enhance the post.

Emily responds:

Thank you again for the kind permission.

Yes. ‘Where do you stand?’ is a fair question.

.

The mention of marriage is not so much any intent to settle down on his part as it is a validation that, yes, he is serious, and it’s what he fears … that slippery slope
