Suppressing the impulse to ‘Let someone have it’ when you are furious sometimes pays off. So sometimes the impulse to shut up pays off, and sometimes the urge to bare our soul pays off, in that happy scene that makes us feel good in our gut.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Star ………. . Singing, in the performance of a ritual bath. Feeling very happy, enthusiastic, upbeat. Star is talking, feeling good, good health. It is also the more extreme end of ‘talking’: gushing, babbling, confessing, saying ‘I love you,’ spilling your guts, confessing, squealing, and so on. It can be advice that you talk too much, or observation that someone else does. Of course it is about a singer or performer.
Four of Pentacles………. Here’s a guy sitting outside of town holding onto his money, staring straight ahead, hugging himself. This illustration applies several ways. It is about withholding and holding onto, and about internal processes – gut level – often translating ‘deep down.’ It is about being shy too. It means privacy and guarding privacy, and it means ‘secret’ and keeping anything secret. It means not telling, not divulging, not talking, and ‘shut up.’ It means stifling, suppressing or blocking feelings or anything else. It means ‘insufficient,’ not enough, and not much. It is being low key, quiet, keeping to yourself. It is about not having enough, or not spending enough, money: budget, thrifty, cheap, saving money, broke, stingy, holding onto the money, “Don’t spend” or ‘not worth it’ or not paid what you’re worth,’ as in ‘underpaid.’ Sometimes it’s a hug. Watch for it in medical questions; it means internal there too.
Hanged Man ………. Hanged Man’s most common meanings are ‘intense’ or ‘intensely’ and ‘realize’ or ‘realization,’ and ‘get it’ – sudden awareness, or sensing something out of context, and the ‘eureka’ experience (“I coulda had a V8.”) It is about gut feelings, insights, urges, instinctual impulses. It denotes an altered state of consciousness such as ‘brainstorm’ or the “hair on fire” experience pictured here, psychic awareness, psychic insight, or the muse inspiration. It is a lot of ‘mind’ phrases too, such as afterthought, inkling, having a feeling, something ‘in the back of your mind’ coming instantly to the forefront, having an open mind, thinking up something, a thought striking. It is about perspectives, as in ‘see in a different light,’ ‘open mind, ‘being smitten,’ ‘turned on,’ and enlightenment.
