Seven of Swords – King of Swords – Chariot

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… …..           King of Swords rarely shows up, and he was here only yesterday. The combination of Seven of Swords and Chariot also showed up twice recently – on October 28 and November 9. Seven of Swords and Chariot are both military action, and King of Swords is the military – and police, and lawyers. And Seven of Swords is crime, criminals, stealing and danger.

Chariot being a car becomes a stolen car with Seven of Swords, and becomes a police car with King of Swords. (Yes, you could have a stolen police car. You could also have military transporting weapons or something dangerous.)

Both of these cards refer to risk. In Chariot, risk is under his expert control. In Seven of Swords, this maverick may very well fail because of self-sabotage. Chariot is both the strategy and the decision. These two Rider Waite Tarot cards – Seven of Swords and Chariot – give us a picture of calculated risk of an endeavor or enterprise. Seven of Swords is the saboteur, enemy action, and, especially risk or the act of taking a big chance.

King of Swords and Chariot are both leaders, are both responsible, are both military.

Yes, there are a lot of lurid stories these three cards can make – they could be on the nightly news. I did not go there; this site is more for personal stories.

All is not skulduggery with these three Tarot cards, though. We have a lawyer (King of Swords) bucking the system (Seven of Swords) successfully. We say you can handle a tall-dark-and-handsome (King of Swords) bad boy (Seven of Swords). We even talk about the delinquent’s (Seven of Swords) grownup (King of Swords) responsibilities (Chariot).

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Seven of Swords           Seven of Swords is sneaking out of enemy camp in midday with their weapons in his bare hands that he has stolen. This scene gives rise to a few different applications.

Seven of Swords speaks of taking a chance, risk, daring, adventure, betrayal, crime (and getting away with crime). The red footwear (socks?) says ‘hotfoot’ to me. He can be a cheating lover, a thief sneaking around, a gambler, or someone out for revenge. Seven of Swords is usually a solo act, and is a single person’s adventure.

King of Swords           King of Swords has few meanings. Here’s that tall guy with the stern stare, sitting bolt upright like a military man, shoulders all square. So King of Swords is the leader – authority and authorities: military, police, commanding officer, the boss, a judge, anyone who gives orders, or barks them. The Man. The leader of the pack … any pack.

Chariot           Chariot has it all: guts, honor, detachment, leadership, smarts, being decisive, strategy, a plan … and success. Charioteers were the special ops war heroes of olden days. It was their strategy that won or lost battles and wars. Seven of Swords, too, is engaged in a special ops mission of disarming an enemy.

Chariot is a leader, project manager, commanding officer. Chariot handles it and gets it done, whatever it is, no excuses.

Tarot Readings for You for November 9, 2015 Monday©

GUIDANCE             There are times when serious and rational thought goes into risky and reckless behavior. Here we have a picture of coming to a decision to take a chance. This person has a purpose to accomplish. Our picture is of him or her contemplating some hazard, some danger, some risk involved in accomplishing it. Or maybe contemplating a shortcut and its possible consequences. A strategy for getting it done no matter what. The question is: Is succeeding at my ambition, or my purpose, worth the adventure it may involve? We leave our person there – no comment on the answer to his or her question. By the way, is that You? – is that Me?

Page of Pentacles – Seven of Swords – Chariot

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… …..           Page of Pentacles is thinking-observing-pondering-taking a good rational look. Chariot is both the strategy and the decision. These two Rider Waite Tarot cards give us a picture of calculated risk of an endeavor or enterprise.

Between them is Seven of Swords. Seven of Swords is the saboteur, enemy action, and, especially risk or the act of taking a big chance.

Seven of Swords is also the adventure, and Page of Pentacles is contemplating, and Chariot is success: Contemplating a successful venture. Thinking about taking that chance. (You bouncing on the high-dive, looking at the pool.)

Seven of Swords and Chariot say ‘Accomplish the mission at any cost,’ because Seven of Swords is that high-risk activity. These two also say ‘Get ‘er done no matter what’ because Chariot is definitely the ‘Get ‘er done’ type, and Seven of Swords is very native to ‘no matter what.’ You might translate this ‘Pull it off any way you can’ or some other paraphrase. Both of these cards refer to risk. In Chariot, risk is under his expert control. In Seven of Swords, this maverick may very well fail because of self-sabotage.

Lest you think this spread refers only to grand endeavors and serious missions: This process could just as easily apply to whether to engage in the family hostilities at Thanksgiving dinner, or whether you dare to purchase something (like a car, obviously, with Chariot sitting there) you can’t … quite … afford.

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Page of Pentacles is one of several cards in the theme of thinking, believing, understanding, observing, interested in, contemplating. ‘Thinking about it’ is a frequent phrase for this Tarot card. It also refers, to a lesser extent, to feeling.

Another application of Page of Pentacles is identity, self, self-image, self-conscious, ‘I am a (fill in the blank)’ or, with a negative modifier, ‘I am not a (fill in the blank).’ He is a ‘nice young man,’ along with Page of Wands, another identity card. Page of Pentacles can say ‘the idea’ or ‘the thought’ too. ‘Mind’ and ‘mental’ as well.

Note that this card can be any singular pronoun, especially ‘I,’ ‘he,’ and ‘himself.’ Realize all the combinations it makes with all the pronouns and all the words that belong to the theme of thinking. These subject-and-verb phrases are his bread and butter.

Seven of Swords is sneaking out of enemy camp in midday with their weapons in his bare hands that he has stolen. This scene gives rise to a few different applications.

Seven of Swords speaks of taking a chance, risk, daring, adventure, betrayal, crime (and getting away with crime). The red footwear (socks?) says ‘hotfoot’ to me. Having the guts is one thing; being ruthless and cutthroat is another – and they both are under the wing of Seven of Swords. Taking a chance, say, a gamble … or a ‘Russian roulette’ situation. Unethical … or psychopathic.

Note that Seven of Swords’ mission is a one-man adventure. He is not part of a team, or a gang, or anything like that: He is solo.

He is the cheating lover. He is being sneaky (in any way). He is an assassin or special ops, or a street punk … villain. He is all about revenge and getting even too. Sometime he is advice to do exactly that: turn the tables.

Now, here’s something to remember: See his bare hands on all those heavy blades? Seven of Swords is the primary self-destruction card. Self-undoing. Acting against self-interest. (We are not using this meaning today.)

This is an ‘alert’ card. Its wide-spectrum application, and the downside to its possible meanings, should lead you to look at the cards around it, to see how the ‘random distribution’ of its definitions applies here and now. Always remember its gutsy side and its adventure (or adventuresome) side: Don’t leap to fearful conclusions.

Chariot has it all: guts, honor, detachment, leadership, smarts, being decisive, strategy, a plan … and success. Mr. Putin at the moment maybe? – or Robert Wallace, about whom the movie ‘Braveheart’ is. Google this card plus ‘Tarot Verbatim’ for the full report, but, briefly: Charioteers were the special ops war heroes of olden days. It was their strategy that won or lost battles and wars.

This esoteric card suggests using magic to win. The steeds there are magic sphinxes. See the reversed colors? They signify one will go only left, the other only right (Sphinxes are like that, you know). Our hero has hitched them so they get in one another’s way and thus go forward by default. No reins … you noticed that? He controls his steeds with magic wands. Yeah, he goes all out. He handles it (one of Chariot’s favorite words).

This is what makes Chariot about ‘get ‘er done’ and winning against all odds.

Charioteers were the leaders, the commanding officers. This is what makes Chariot ‘project manager,’ and other words like boss, go-to man, field marshal, etc.

.

.

People who are professional risk-takers (tightrope walkers, stunt men, gamblers, special ops people, some criminals) report that they feel ‘alive’ when they are taking their risks, and feel dead inside when they are not. They are adrenaline junkies from our perspective. We capture that same feeling in the lives of the rest of us: The moment of contemplation that is part of the decision to jump in and ‘go for it’ – to do the adventure.

Chariot – Knight of Pentacles – Ace of Cups

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… ….. ……  …, Both Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are focused ambitious men. Both have a lot of willpower, a lot of drive. Both are Type A.

Chariot is a senior ranking fellow, a project manager sort of guy. His focus is success, particularly success of the project he is responsible for, because he is in charge of something.

Knight of Pentacles is a hands-on energetic stubborn macho sort. His focus is his own personal getting ahead, and his own private interest, whatever that is. He is famous for ‘one thing on his mind.’

So today is about men who accomplish a purpose.

Ace of Cups’ various applications are what makes so many sentences today. (I culled 14 of them!) You will find Ace of Cups’ many today-meanings under Ace of Cups when you get to it. A short list – it means easy, relax, enjoy, cooperate, health and God. See?

Drive – that’s what we are about today, the kind of Type A drive that gets a person ahead: ambition, strategy, focus, energy. All this male energy – all this will-to-succeed – originates with both Mr. Knight of Pentacles and Mr. Chariot coming together in the same Tarot room.

Now, for the Tarot scholars in the crowd, I am going to compare and contrast these two similar strong-men cards. I have colored the background so ‘normal people’ aren’t bored to tears. They are now excused until the gray is gone.

Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are two very similar men, or one man who combines the traits common to both these Tarot cards: self-control and keeping your priority in mind. Both these cards are about aim, both are aggressive types, both are very able, and both are thinkers. Chariot is more the brains, and Knight of Pentacles is more the physical hands-on parts. Knight of Pentacles means things like: certain, sure thing, a certainty, and one thing is for sure. Chariot accomplishes his purpose for sure no matter what, and Knight of Pentacles gives it his best shot, goes all out. Chariot’s all about strategy and using obstacles as tools; Knight of Pentacles is all determination – the ‘no matter what’ principle. Knight of Pentacles is more of a peasant, and Chariot is more of a prince, quite often. Both these strong men are indispensable when it comes to getting that one vital thing accomplished no matter what.

Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are success-bound, driven, Type A men. Knight of Pentacles has one thing on his mind and has strength; Chariot is a masterful success, is in charge of a project, and is ambitious.

So the masterful, successful Type A driven boss who gets the project done pairs up with the ‘driven’ concept in Knight of Pentacles. Knight of Pentacles can be the young Chariot, or can be the ‘before’ with Chariot the accomplished ‘after.’

Note that, in your spreads, especially when these two (Knight of Pentacles and Chariot) appear in different sentences of the Tarot Verbatim™ Celtic Cross spread, they can represent a theme, and refer to the same person. Here in our three-card spread, they are different people.

Regarding the illustrations of Knight of Pentacles and Chariot: Knight of Pentacles stares at his money. Chariot is looking out at the terrain, the scene. Knight of Pentacles focuses on himself. His aim, his ambition, centers on his getting ahead. Chariot is captain of a team. You see him minding his steeds, getting the sphinxes (who are born to turn in one direction only, forever) to go straight, using his willpower, his magic wands, to accomplish this. Charioteers were a team, and were the main strategists in the wars of their day. Chariot is about executive skills.

Knight of Pentacles is driven, determined, ambitious, focused on a main interest, obsessed. He is macho, a tough guy, a very physical guy, is strong of body. He aims to get the job done; whereas Chariot has done the job and is in control of the situation. Knight of Pentacles’ illustration in the Rider Waite system shows the tough looking dude on a tough-looking horse, staring at this one thing he has in mind. His ambition is about himself, whereas Chariot’s is about accomplishing the project. (This, of course, is a generality, and doesn’t apply every darn time.)

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Chariot Chariot is one of those cluttered-up-with-meanings cards like Lovers, World, Six of Wands, Two of Cups, Seven of Cups, Judgment, Devil, Fool, and some others. Unless you know Mr. Chariot’s biography, you will not see his sprawling dictionary.

What makes Chariot mean ‘in charge of the project, and getting it done by using the factors that would sabotage it to further it instead’ is the fact he is a charioteer. Charioteers were the special forces – the storied war heroes – of olden times. Strategies of charioteers won or lost battles.

Note it’s sphinxes, and not horses, that are not hitched to his chariot, and he has a single wand to control these mythical creatures. Sphinxes go either left or right and no other way. He has the right-moving one to the left, and the left-moving one to the right, so that they end up going forward, or where he wants them to. This going forward can translate ‘getting ahead.’ Sphinxes are magical creatures (not nice ones, either), and he controls them with his magic wand. This is how he owns words and phrases that mean ‘mastery.’

Now you know why he is famous for strategy, for being responsible and in control, for being the project manager, the leader, the winner, and the guy who gets the job done – the leader in the field. Chariot means to succeed; it means victory. It means ‘to handle’ and ‘can handle’ as well as ‘can handle anything.’ Chariot is a highly skilled self-made man. Chariot is goal oriented, not self-promoting.

Chariot not only acts, he decides. He chooses. His choice. These words are all his. He owns ‘success’ and is known for his will to succeed at all costs. Could be ruthless.

The sphinxes – one predominantly white and the other predominantly black – in the illustration represent the occult idea that you need both kinds of magic skills, the black and the white, to get ahead. This idea is standard in most writing about magic.

Chariot is a vehicle, of course, so it represents any kind of vehicle at all, not just ground transportation.

Think of Chariot as you accomplishing what is most important to you, using whatever factors exist in the project to further it, whether they are favorable or not. Chariot is that kind of determination.

Knight of Pentacles      Knight of Pentacles is the stubborn physical yeoman with one idea in his head, one ambition, whether he’s single-minded or obsessive about that one thing.  He represents focus, even obsession. This is the short dark fella who is strong of body and opinionated with ideas that work for him in his environment, and you had best not rock his opinionated boat.  In the illustration, his horse is just like him:  short, sturdy, and dark. A manly man – a man’s man, even. A good man to know. A stereotype fairly often.

He often has muscles … and can even be muscle. He may be the punk, ruffian, bad-boy, especially in the company of, say, Seven of Swords and Five of Swords, and a few others.

Knight of Pentacles is healthy, has a LOT of energy, is often brawny, is outdoorsy, is macho in one way or another. More often than not, the individual Knight of Pentacles represents in your spread is short and stocky. He also seems to have dark hair – and Tarot Verbatim™ ignores hair and skin color, to represent personality.

This ‘one idea’ theme is also, of course, about priority. Number One. Knight of Pentacles is very self-centered, self-promoting, and often concerned about being Number One himself (the herd bull).

That ‘one idea’ extends to his being tenacious, persistent. He is no quitter, a bulldog. Like Chariot, he is indispensable when it comes to getting one thing done no matter what. Those two (Chariot and Knight of Pentacles) are twins when it comes to that.

The ‘one idea,’ and the fact Mr. Knight of Pentacles is sure of himself, may translate ‘certain,’ ‘certainly,’ ‘make sure,’ and one thing is sure.’

The ‘one idea,’ in romance, means he is interested in one love partner. He is a ‘one-woman man.’

Like the other cards that show a male staring intently at his pentacle, Knight of Pentacles means to keep an eye on, stare, concentrate on, look, watch, and similar phrases.

Ace of Cups      What’s a nice card like you doing in company like this? Ace of Cups’ trunk meanings are love, true love, unconditional love, being lovable, cooperate, agree, good (good anything – the word good), health, feeling good, warm-fuzzy emotions, relax, unwinding socially, easy and ease, calm, healing, permitting or letting (as in letting it be), peace, unity, innocent, spiritual, God, acceptance and being accepted, serendipity, affection and affectionate, benefit and no harm, harmless, the spiritual plane or zone or level. Probably a few more I haven’t thought to include.

How Ace of Cups means these things is found in the very Roman Catholic illustration. The idea is the presence of God channeling through a godly person into human mass consciousness (or ‘out into the world’) through Holy Communion. The dove and the wafer, of course are Holy Communion. The fountain’s five flows represent the human’s five senses or ‘bodily humors’ (Middle Ages). This part of its illustration makes Ace of Cups mean any kind of liquid flow or leak, including internal and medical ones, and even toxic leaks from a pipe. The big lake with the water lilies represents mass consciousness. You could say Ace of Cups is more spiritual than religious, in spite of its religious origin.

And here’s today’s Ace of Cups phrases and words that I promised: enjoy it; I love it!; get along with; flexible; to help; girls, females; leaks; calms down; good; go smoothly; gentle; relaxed; lovable; mellow out; goodwill; other people loving me; easy or with ease; health; godly; spiritual; the love of God; God’s way; God’s help; true love; love life.

.

.

.

.

.

We are driven to be lovable; we are focusing willpower and determination and all our manly energy onto being warm and fuzzy. We are ambitious to mellow out. We are forcing ourselves to be agreeable, and making ourselves cooperate. We put all our energy into relaxing. A macho man focuses on unwinding.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

………..………… Ladies and Gentlemen [drum roll]: The American Dream. In one corner of our spread’s tapestry are: the understanding wife, Queen of Cups; the happy family in the prosperous neighborhood, Ten of Cups; and success or achievement – not to mention drive and ambition – Chariot.

We dig a little deeper, and we see choosing happiness, because Chariot is choosing. Chariot is the decision as well as the success that follows it. Happiness is something you make happen, not something that happens to you.

We keep digging and hit some more pay dirt. Everyone (Ten of Cups) is successful (Chariot) – which is a win-win situation – because of someone who has figured the whole enterprise out, someone who understands the mechanism of its organization. We describe the powerful feeling a person gets when he or she occupies the rightful position in the overall enterprise they belong to.

Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like one where you belong.

.

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Queen of Cups illustrates the stereotype blond. Think of this picture as Sally Struthers playing Gloria in ‘All in the Family,’ a series that should be required ‘reading’ for everyone, because it filleted the American family scene realistically … as if it were not so. Queen of Cups is the nice lady, the sweet wife, the gal who dreamily contemplates some artifact while where she sits floods. And, yes, the dumb blond thing does apply to Queen of Cups.

But more often, this is one of the Tarot cards about thinking, knowing, figuring out, and having it all figured out. There are many of those cards. This one’s perspective is on sympathetic and loyal understanding, and on keeping such wisdom quietly to yourself. Queen of Cups is famous for ‘understanding her man,’ both in the dumb way and the smart way: She both understands and admires her man.

Queen of Cups is well-intentioned, always. And she is the quiet one.. Her soul is blond..

Ten of Cups The surface meaning of Ten of Cups is the trite ‘one big happy family,’ ‘the good people,’ ‘living in a prosperous neighborhood.’ Happiness and unity are featured, and Ten of Cups is one of the cards (like Ace of Pentacles) that equates morality with money. The Moral Majority lives in Ten of Cups. The picture is the happy couple with the two kids and the house in the suburbs.

Ten of Cups, in a larger sense, is about unity and mutual benefit.

There are three ‘marriage cards,’ two of them positive, and each of those three cards represents the progression: couple, family, neighborhood, group of any kind, city, county, state, nation, international. Ten of Cups emphasizes the personal end of these concepts, and Four of Wands emphasizes the political structure more. All three are also about relationships.

To the left of Ten of Cups today is knowing and understanding; to the right is the manager of a successful enterprise. And Ten of Cups is people being prosperous together. You can see how the progression (from individuals getting together, to international organizations) in Ten of Cups opens the door to: One person who understands what makes people happy gets likeminded people together in a win-win enterprise … because that one person is a skilled manager. This is the recipe for building empire.

Chariot is the skilled field commander, the strategist, the one who is responsible to get a project done by any and all possible means – by willing it so. His underlying meaning is using material that gets in the way to get ahead instead. His common translates are success, achievement, manager, choose, decide, responsible, plan, take charge or in charge.

This is one of the most esoteric cards; it even is directly about magic. He holds magic wands, not reins, to control his sphinxes, not horses. The symbols on this card are from obscure magic.

Charioteers were the celebrity war heroes of their day. Their strategies won or lost battles. That is where the manager-of-the-enterprise and success meanings come in.

.

.

.

.

.

People talk about company culture as if it were from the top down. Some people have a gift for analyzing what people can do, and what they want, and putting that together for a successful business deal. That’s referred to as ‘the art of the deal.’ And it is a gift. We take that person analyzing … sussing out the scene of what they can (and will) do and what they want … and putting together their tribal enterprise in which they all have a rewarding part to contribute, and a reward for having done so. From the ground up always works better, you know.

GUIDANCE     ‘Quitcherbitchin’ and get ‘er done’ is our slogan. Today’s talk is similar to the U. S. Marines’ slogan [Lead, follow, or get out of the way]. We are saying ‘Be a leader and get it done, or get out of the way – don’t be whining on the sidelines.’ But our emphasis is about taking responsibility, and about deciding one way or the other – including deciding something isn’t for you because there’s not sufficient return on investment for you in that project. We also display the attitude of ‘I’m never going to be old.’ We talk about deciding what not to do, what not to be, as well.

Queen of Swords – Four of Swords – Chariot

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING and

                 LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.. …….…… …...……..……. Doing it (Chariot); not doing it (Four of Swords); complaining about it (Queen of Swords): These are the elements of our story. We have choices (Chariot), we have responsibilities (Chariot) … so we can choose to be responsible. Add Four of Swords, and we can choose to not be responsible … or we can just not choose at all. Four of Swords is to refrain from action, see? So we can decide (Chariot) to do nothing (Four of Swords) because of the ‘What’s In It for Me’ factor. Queen of Swords is the ‘What’s In It for Me’ factor because she isn’t getting enough, and is at least miffed about it.

Queen of Swords and Four of Swords: Queen of Swords isn’t getting; Four of Swords isn’t happening.

Four of Swords and Chariot: Four of Swords isn’t going to, isn’t taking part; Chariot is full steam ahead getting it done at any cost.

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Queen of Swords………. Here’s an old or older woman displaying her weapon with a grim and disgruntled look on her face, her other hand stretched out in a demand or complaint gesture. She looks mad – upset at least. The side of her seat has a child’s face on it. Clouds nestle into the ground, and a lone tree is bent in the background. Ahem: In Tarot Verbatim™, this is the bitch card, and it shows up on time (but obviously doesn’t mean that each time). It is also the card that represents a plaintiff or complainant (regardless of gender; it can be a entity or group of people) in a lawsuit.

So here we have the strong uncompromising demanding critical woman who expects much of others and has nerves of steel herself.  A strong woman who does not tolerate fools well. She can also be a controlling nagging old bat too, in the continuum of the card. ‘Disgruntled Dame’ could be Queen of Swords’ title. ‘NOW would be good’ could be her slogan. Stereotype is the nagging ex-wife or mother.  She may be angry.  She complains.  She is a bitch at times. She could be just upset at the moment. She is sometimes a widow who misses the life she would have had and is bitter.  It also stands for a woman whose child has died, and she feels bitter about what could have been. Four of Swords could bring out this ‘grieving a death bitterly’ because it is a support card for death sometimes, but today Chariot gets in the way of that: Chariot is focused on getting something done.

Four of Swords……….. The picture of the fellow in a death pose on a coffin isn’t really about a death (although it is a support card for that, and it can represent a coma); it is about a knight candidate meditating on his life purpose, as part of the ritual to become a knight. We are not interested (one of this card’s meanings!) in all those philosophical applications of Four of Swords today.

Today, next to Chariot’s high ambition and Queen of Swords dissatisfactions, Four of Swords mostly is using its not interested, indifferent, not participating and not doing meanings. ‘Count me out, I don’t care’ is Four of Swords’ slogan today. Four of Swords ends up being a negative modifier without really intending to; its just his lazy nature.

Here are Four of Swords meanings in today’s sentences, to demonstrate this negative modifier function of his: don’t; not to; not to have anything to; makes no; without the; quit your _; I don’t get a thing done; isn’t in … the situation; not on the _; does not; it’s not happening; bedridden; never to be; does not _ to; indifferent; do nothing; has not; aren’t; isn’t about to be; isn’t; just lie around; not having; doesn’t; lying down; getting sleep; backseat.

Chariot……….Chariot is about getting where you are going by any means possible, fair or foul: being a strategist. His focus is on the project being accomplished. Charioteers were the military strategists and special forces of their day. The illustration bears explanation. Sphinxes are powerful magic creatures whose limitation is: They go in only one direction, a turn to the right (the ‘good sphinxes’) or a turn to the left (the ‘bad sphinxes’). Here, our master strategist has hitched them so, blocking one another’s turn, they go straight. Notice his reins are magic wands.

Today’s spread clips Mr. Chariot’s wings. He, the entrepreneurial project manager who gets it all done, for sure, under budget and on time … he is in the company of complaining (Queen of Swords) and not doing (Four of Swords). So note how Mr. Chariot shifts to aiming or being determined, deciding, being a leader and successful, and being ambitious and enterprising. Note how his meanings move into the ones about his intentions instead of his current achievement. He means a vehicle of any kind too. Briefly, in other spreads Chariot translates ‘to choose’ and ‘choice.’ He also sometimes reads ‘plan.’

Here are his words and phrases from today: take responsibility; determined; He aims for; takes charge of the situation; has the drive; get ‘er done; get a thing done; in command of a situation; on the bandwagon; he is successful; the successful man; takes responsibility for his; aim never to be; choose to be; responsibilities; I decide to be; I have decided; he has achieved; are a leader; his ambitions; man is enterprising; decides to get things done; not a good trip; not having a vehicle; doesn’t drive; being transported; you are driving; driver onboard.

.

.

.

.

To do, or not to do; that is the question today. Whether to take charge and get ‘er done, whether to be critical of its doing by others, or whether to not participate at all. Whether to be disgruntled that something isn’t being done that would have benefited us, as well. What’s in it for me – count me out if there isn’t enough there. I decide I am not going to be that critical whiner. I also decide I’m not going to do without for the sake of someone else’s ambition.

Tarot Readings for You for July 17, 2015 Friday©

GUIDANCE       When I hit bottom, I had the willpower to join the living. On the sickbed, I decide to have life and enjoy it. Yeah, misery gives you an appreciation for happiness, and inspires you to do whatever it takes to accomplish your idea of enjoying life. If you are sheltered, you sense something is missing. It is. It is the view of the Pit or of the Shadow a view that completes your spiritual education into the reality show of life on earth. But … you appreciate the reality show of earthly angst best from hindsight.

Ten of Cups – Chariot – Five of Pentacles

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING and

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.………..………. .……..…….. Well, we have The Story. In the center is handling the real situation, the project, successfully against all odds – being disciplined and ambitious enough to take on whatever the obstacles are and make good use of them too. Mr. Chariot himself.

To the left, we have the good life, the life you enjoy, Ten of Cups. It means family in a good way, too: family happiness, happy marriage – the life most people dream of.

To the right, we have poverty, misery, and hitting bottom: Dark Night of the Soul, Five of Pentacles. If you’re going to have this dejected card in your spread, this is the company you would want to see it appear in.

Ten of Cups…… Ten of Cups, as I just said, is the enjoyable life, here presented in a rather maudlin way: the fine house on a large corner lot in suburbia, the happy embracing couple and their two prancing well-dressed healthy children. The rainbow over the house, in case you get the ‘dream life’ message. Today, in the company of Five of Pentacles, Ten of Cups loses its stereotype and gets real, because today happiness and that good home come from misery and not having a home that you see in Five of Pentacles.

Obviously, Ten of Cups and Five of Pentacles are opposite ends of the pole.

Chariot.……. I think of him as the U. S. Marine can-do attitude. Charioteers are not only the ultimate soldiers, but the strategists and the special ops of their day – for a few hundred years. The illustration suggests success comes from esoteric practices as well as skill and willpower: Sphinxes travel only in either a left or a right turn and are cranky beasts. Our hero has hitched them so they oppose one another’s direction, and end up going straight. Notice he has no reins, but controls them with magic wands. So the idea in Chariot is to get ‘er done by any and all means possible, including otherworldly means.

Five of Pentacles……… Desperation is illustrated here. The bell the crippled boy wears is something that indicated a person was a leper in the Middle Ages. They are not welcome in the church, probably, and they are barefoot in the snow, and sick. The import of this card is the Roman Catholic concept of Dark Night of the Soul. In spiritual experience, you hit bottom, feel inferior and isolated from God just before another level of spiritual stature. Why? – because what motivates you to the next step ahead makes you see the imperfections of your current level, and be sick of it, and be sick at heart. So that despair is what is pictured here: being shut out of the Church.

The general meaning of Five of Pentacles is depletion, lack, drained of – in any general way, not just a person who is without a friend in the world.

.

.

Would I have come this far if I did not have some things to overcome?, I ask myself. When you have no comfort zone to nestle into, you tend not to leave the nest. It’s when the roof leaks and he walls crumble that you move out. Then you look back and say ‘There but for the grace of God would I have lived,’ because when you moved out, you also moved up, and that’s where you are now.

.

.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

Knight of Pentacles – Three of Wands – Chariot

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING and

              LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.………..………. .……..…….. Three of Wands promises each of these fellows money and a good future.

Knight of Pentacles.……..Mr. Knight of Pentacles is a very physical guy with a lot of natural energy who is intensely focused. He is the stubborn yeoman with one idea in his head, one ambition. And it could be … often, is … a simple one. He could be an ambitious bricklayer. Our main point today is that this kind of focus succeeds when it persists.

.

Chariot………Mr. Chariot is also a competent skilled hands-on worker with the will to succeed. Whereas Knight of Pentacles is determined to make it and is self-promoting, Chariot has it made and is the goal-oriented project manager of the team. Chariot is about strategy, and his focus is the project being accomplished. (Often, Knight of Pentacles is the young Chariot.) Chariot represents mastery of the situation; Knight of Pentacles represents the ambition to be master of the situation. Knight of Pentacles is more of a peasant, and Chariot is more of a prince, quite often.

Chariot translates ‘to choose’ and ‘choice.’ It is also a vehicle of any kind (even a boat or airplane – any transport. He also sometimes reads ‘plan.’

Note that, in your spreads, especially when these two (Knight of Pentacles and Chariot) appear in different sentences of the Tarot Verbatim™ Celtic Cross spread, they can represent a theme, and refer to the same person. Here in our three-card spread, they are different people.

Three of Wands……..So the remaining card, Three of Wands, indicates the success and money that naturally flows from such competent and energetic people as Knight of Pentacles and Chariot. Three of Wands is ‘having good prospects.’ Three of Wands is money coming in and a good result coming, the future, and it being just a matter of time … ‘just you wait.’ The fellow in Three of Wands has done all the work, and is waiting for the payoff: He is watching his ship come in.

.

…………………... Regarding the illustrations of Knight of Pentacles and Chariot: Knight of Pentacles stares at his money. He focuses on himself. His aim, his ambition, center on his getting ahead. Chariot is captain of a team. You see him minding his steeds, getting the sphinxes (who are born to turn in one direction only, forever) to go straight, using his willpower, his magic wands, to accomplish this. Charioteers were a team, and were the main strategists in the wars of their day. Chariot is about executive skills.

.

.

.

We look at being driven to succeed on your own, and being driven to succeed as the responsible person in charge of the enterprise. Both of these snapshots are of success, both are financially rewarding. The person who develops the strategy to lead the enterprise to success has a different approach, a different psychology, from the person who aims to succeed for himself. It is one thing to make money on the job, and quite another to make the job make money.

Six of Wands – Three of Cups – Chariot

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.……………….    In the middle, people are a team, are on the same page, have mutual interest, and are having a great old time – and Three of Cups is also ‘the girls,’ the successful women. To the right is a strategy and a purpose: deliberate plan or program – and the manager, the success – mostly the successful man today, as Chariot often is. To the left of this mutual satisfaction and fun is being out for yourself or self-interest, and adapting yourself to the social scene to get them to join your program, project or party. So we have stories. Stories about influencing others to benefit your own success.

…………………….Six of Wands can always be ‘up to something.’ Acting against your own best interests as well as getting others to act against theirs. Strategy and deniability, propaganda and getting people to go along with your agenda, or subverting theirs: That’s Six of Wands. Mistrust, malarkey, betrayal and b.s. Keep an eye out for getting sucked into something. (This is the leading card for getting drawn into a cult, for instance.)

But he doesn’t have to be subversive; he can merely be about ‘face,’ putting your best foot forward, ‘fake it until you make it,’ adapting to the ways of the people around you, getting along with others, seducing or being seduced, influencing or being influenced … and joining. Joining is a large part of the classical meaning of Six of Wands. Being a member.

What seems like a victory, isn’t, but is a trap. ‘Winning the battle and losing the war’ would be a good title for Six of Wands. This is the story of how Richard III, King of England, spent his life as a pampered prisoner of Arabs when he was captured chasing Arab soldiers in a victorious battle. Now you see where those meanings come from.

But this is Tarot Verbatim™. Every other system of Tarot I have encountered has this card as a victory. (I suspect my deviant meanings like this one, which work, will leak into the tarotverse gradually.)

…………………….Three of Cups is everybody getting along, getting together, being in agreement socially (camaraderie), celebrating, being a team, profiting, and being the kind of success that makes you in some way ‘one of the beautiful people.’ It’s dating and partying, and girls’ night out. To go along with that segment of its application: Today we have the seduction or strategy in Six of Wands, and we have the successful man with The Car too.

The successful man is also the manager, project manager, strategist and leader, and Three of Cups is also the successful team, so we have a work application as well as a social application in our stories.

……………………Chariot is the field manager, the leader who is hands-on responsible for winning, who uses any and all means, fair or foul, practical or magical, to win. So both Chariot and Six of Wands are about strategy. Chariot is achievement, accomplishment and, of course, winning. Chariot is the special forces of his day. Look that up some day, it’s very fascinating. Chariot is success (not just successful). Chariot is being responsible. Typically, Chariot is a hard-driving Type A person. Determination and purpose belong to this Tarot card in Rider Waite.

Chariot and Six of Wands are both about strategy – in very different perspectives. Both are about what serves your purpose (or whoever’s purpose). Chariot is the project manager who gets the crew to produce. Six of Wands, on the other hand, is more likely to be influencing someone against his or her own advantage.

Three of Cups and Chariot are both successful. Three of Cups is getting together as a team to produce, and sharing the profit. Chariot is being the person in charge, being the hands-on agent responsible for that success.

We talk about social strategy today. The type of person you are determines, in large part, how successful you are. How (not just how well) you get along with people – your style and how that style fits your setting – has a lot to do with your chances of success in a given venue. Our message today is to consciously figure out these factors as they apply to you, adopt and act upon your winning strategy for that setting for who you are inside. Being crazy is an advantage in some venues, and some people have got ahead by looking the part of a failure … it reassured a superior, for instance.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Six of Wands………Six of Wands is a card that isn’t what it seems to be … and, by golly, that is what it means, too. All the trappings of victory are here. Only Tarot Verbatim™ applies the story in the picture to the application of this card. Six of Wands is winning the battle and losing the war: King Richard III is captured when he chases a defeated enemy, and spends his life in captivity to Arabs that the fellow who takes the throne over pays to keep Richard as a prisoner. Elements of this story are meanings of Six of Wands.

Appearances are Deceiving, Six of Wands is saying, which includes fraud, cheating, propaganda, disloyalty, acting on self-interest, pretense, fair-weather friends, double-cross and theft by pretense. I won’t repeat the litany here.

But Six of Wands is about being a member of a group too – about fitting in with the people around you. Six of Wands ‘appearances’ branch of meanings includes putting your best foot forward, acting the part, ‘face,’ the art of persuasion or seduction, and a lot of ‘act as if’ scenarios. It is about being a member and fitting in, wherever it is you find yourself.

.

Three of Cups………….Three of Cups is also about getting along with other people, being a member and fitting in. Three of Cups isn’t halfhearted membership, though; Three of Cups is Three Musketeers type camaraderie – one for all and all for one. The joint venture. The team. The girl gang or girlfriends. The women pooled their money, and did their share of labor, all the way to harvest. They split the profit and are still friends, toasting their success. Elements of this story are Three of Cups’ meanings: getting together, sharing, being happy, celebrating, having a drink or toasting with a drink, prosperity, being successful, being a team player or team member, and girls together. It also moves a little further to dating, party girls, fashionable ladies, society women, the beautiful people, etc.

.

Chariot…………Chariot gets the job done, whatever it takes, whatever the obstacles are. ‘On time and under budget no matter what.’ Chariot is the project manager, the hands-on leader of skill and determination. Some of his primary meanings are ambition, aims to, and purpose. Not to mention achievement, accomplishment, and champion.

He is foremost a strategist, as charioteers were in the days before tanks. This is an esoteric card, but you have to look closely. Not rein, but magic wands. Not horses but sphinxes. The reversed colors on the sphinxes are where the strategy comes in. One of them goes only to the right. The other goes only to the left.

Three of Cups – Lovers – Chariot

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

………………..…..…………. ….    Niiice cards here! Both Three of Cups and Lovers are about love, partnering with another (Lovers) and partnering with others (Three of Cups) – being close. And both Three of Cups and Chariot are about success and ‘making it’ and completing the job or project. Three of Cups is dating; Lovers is the love relationship; Chariot is success at that, a successful fellow, and him taking charge of the action as his project.

There’s an interesting interplay here about masterfully connecting your friends to one another as you relate both one-on-one (Lovers of course) and as a member of the circle (Three of Cups).

………………..………Three of Cups I call The Three Musketeers. One for all and all for one was their motto, which is what Three of Cups is all about. Three of Cups are people who are still friends after a joint venture as they split the profit of it. They have pooled labor and investment and are toasting the sale of a successful crop of pumpkins. So Three of Cups is a celebration, profit, close friends and sharing. It will come up when you ask about dating, so that is one of its trunks of meaning. Three of Cups is ‘girls’ night out,’ as you can see in this illustration.

………………………Lovers is a love relationship and partnerships. Both of those meanings apply across the board to those two subjects. Other frequent meanings are contact and connection. Higher-ups and God come in because of the angel watching the people, so Lovers is also ‘looking out for’ and ‘got you covered,’ which expands to insurance coverages. Today, with Chariot next door, it’s car insurance of course.

Adam and Eve, with their respective trees, make Lovers say ‘couple.’ The volcano is inert unless you are asking about a volcano. It ought to mean passion … but at least not for me it doesn’t.

………………………Chariot is a long story. Let’s get the piloting of an actual vehicle (and it can be any vehicle, including an airplane or vessel … maybe any transportation device like a motorcycle, but that is rare.

Chariot is the can-do man, the project manager, even the champion or hero. Here’s the story of its illustration: Charioteers were the special forces – frequently the cause of winning or losing a battle – because their strategies were vital to the conflict. It’s a fascinating read even if war bores you.

Pictured here is some of that strategy. Note Mr. Chariot has magic wands instead of reins, and that his steeds are sphinxes. Sphinxes are magical-powered critters who are locked into a permanent turn direction, either right or left and no change allowed. Our hero charioteer has hitched them so they are in each other’s way, so they will go straight by default. One would suppose the magic wand is to make the turns.

No man or woman is an island even if he or she wants to be. Since we have to associate with our fellows, Tarot is saying, choosing good ones is key to our success in love and finances, as well as in friendship. Today pictures successful achievements in that endeavor – and that’s it.

Three of Cups………Three of Cups is having close friends you can even do business with, and enjoying one another’s company meeting face to face. It is often about an actual meeting of three people, as Three of Pentacles also is. (These two cards in Tarot Verbatim have overlapping similar meanings, and you hardly ever see them together, even in the 13-card spreads I do for clients.) Three of Cups is sharing: sharing good company, sharing the profits. It is about a celebration, obviously: glasses raised in a happy toast.

.

Lovers………….Lovers isn’t just lovers and love life. Look for connection; look for contact; look for partnerships of any kind too – or just two people standing next to one another, propinquity. You also have Upstairs watching over or surveilling people. Supervisors. The angel, along with Adam and Eve, indicate this watcher could be God. It is ‘higher-ups’ of any sort – of course including your guardian angel, although – given the story – the picture probably shows the angel that shooed them out of Eden and would not let them back in. (Nope, that does not appear as a meaning, just as the volcano is germane only if you are asking about volcano.)

.

Chariot.……….Chariot is the director. Could be the director of an enterprise, an entrepreneur, a project manager, the supervisor in the field; could be about making a deliberate choice, having a specific purpose, having a master plan; could be taking responsibility and taking charge of anything in a personal life as well. Chariot makes it happen any way it can happen, even violating the laws of nature and man. He turns disadvantages into advantages by sheer strategy, with no drama about it.

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined meanings of the three cards in the pictures in the Tarot Readings.  It explains how these cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – than a personal reading would give you. Also, pronouns are flexible: If the sentence feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ but you’re a ‘she,’ well, it’s yours.

*AND if you write names of any two cards into the Google search bar, it will give you meanings of those!

.……………….………..………..

Chariot – Six of Cups – Six of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

………………………      Chariot is getting ahead and Six of Swords is leaving it behind for a better future ahead. Six of Cups is a good comfortable sweet life and represents the good part of the past. You can see that, roughly, Chariot + Six of Cups = Six of Swords here, yes? Both Chariot and Six of Swords are about heading in a direction that is better. Both Six of Cups and Six of Swords involve ‘home,’ with Six of Swords emphasizing leaving it. Both Six of Cups and Six of Swords involve the past, with – once again – Six of Swords putting it behind. So we are obviously talking about a progression of life events today, and a progression toward where you want to be ahead.

………………………..Chariot is a decision-maker, a strategist, and a skilled person. This is you having both the nerve and the brains to accomplish a purpose and arrive at a chose destination. This is you as the hero of your story, the champion of your choices. Chariot is the project manager, the commanding officer, the person who takes control and responsibility for his direction. This is you with both hands on the wheel of your days. Here’s how Chariot means all this: Note he is controlling his steeds with magic wands instead of reins. Wands represent willpower in magic. (As a matter of fact, magic’s definition of magic is willpower, I read somewhere authoritative.) Note that his steeds are not ponies but sphinxes.

Now you need to know about sphinxes since they are kind of antique beings these days. Sphinxes each go in one turning direction and no other. So sphinxes travel in a circle, but have some kind of magic power. Our hero (you) have hitched the aforesaid sphinxes opposing one another’s direction so that by default as they move forward they go in a straight line, giving our hero the ability to control them with his will. Today we emphasize Chariot’s journey to better terrain, and admit that home wasn’t so bad either – that he is leaving a place that sure had its good points for one that has better points.

……………………….. Six of Cups is the past as we remember it. And we always dress up the past, mercifully disregarding its discomforts and magnifying its glories to ‘the good old days.’ Six of Cups is also sweet romance, gift or love gift, children, home, house (usually comfortable, cozy – maybe a quaint house or a cottage), a safe neighborhood. Six of Cups can be a real estate card as ‘house.’

……………………….. Six of Swords is headed in a better direction, same as Chariot, but Six of Swords is leaving in some kind of defeat, to ‘live again another day.’ There’s quite a spectrum to this Rider Waite Tarot card, and even two different moods that blend. Your application can use just the ‘getting out of here’ aspect of Six of Swords, and use just the dejected mood of those two refugees with no belongings being paddled away in an open boat at dusk or dawn by a friend. Your application can use just the ‘going to a better situation’ aspect of Six of Swords, and therefore use the hopeful and optimistic mood of, say, moving out of a poor town because you landed a good job in a better town. Or your application can use both aspects, and be about the journey, the progression itself, as ‘things improve as we go along.’

We take control of our daily life, and we decide upon its directions consciously, like a project manager who has an assignment with a deadline, so we arrive where we want to go, or close to it, and that’s a win. We don’t castigate or disparage the past … hey, we are feeling warm and fuzzy about its delicious aspects … as we head on out with a ‘I had you fondly, ghosts of currencies past’ in our hearts.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

.

Chariot……….. Chariot’s illustration needs some explaining since time has passed and we no longer are familiar with charioteers as war strategists and heroes, and with sphinxes as magic creatures who each go in only one direction, a turn either to the right or the left. We also disregard magic wands as something fairy godmothers operate. Okay. Charioteers. What charioteers did in battles often determined which side won wars. They were the strategists, and it’s a fascinating read. Now, sphinxes. They are physical creatures with real magic powers who each go in only one direction: a turn to the right or to the left. That is why, in the illustration, the colors are reversed. Our charioteer hero has hitched them so they are in each other’s way, and must go ahead jointly, to get him ahead. He controls the magic creatures with a magic want: Mere reins would not impress those sphinxes.

So Chariot is about purpose, about achieving the purpose, about deciding and being decisive, about strategy, about skill, about being the project manager, about determination and winning. You can think of Chariot as the Marine type of person.

.

Six of Cups …………. Six of Cups is sweet and safe like things used to be. Six of Cups is the redecorated past, the past as we choose to remember it – nostalgia, say. Six of Cups has many branches. One of them is romance. Another is children and childhood. Another is a gift – the little boy is giving the little girl flowers, so it can be a romantic gift. (Put Ace of Pentacles with it in a question about romance, and the boy is giving the girl a ring.) Another is home and housing, using the estate or apartment building the kids are in front of. Another is safety and being well-cared for or having a good life, since both kids are dressed warmly and well. These are Six of Cups main meanings.

Six of Swords…………Six of Swords is headed on out to better pastures where the grass is definitely greener than this one’s. Six of Swords equally emphasizes both the leaving – and indicates leaving a much less desirable locale – and the destination, which is much more desirable. Six of Swords can also be about the trip itself, and can involve a trip over water (overseas, even), or ‘over water’ meaning across a body of water like a lake or river. Naturally, it can be about a boat or boat trip, even a cruise.

Six of Swords, as ‘the future is better’ can be about recovering from illness or other setback. It can be about being released – such as from a lockup of any sort. It can be, for example, no longer addicted to cigarettes, or putting any other habit behind you.
