Fool
As the zero of the deck, Fool is newborn, so he knows nothing. Being oblivious as he skips around in loose soil on the edge of a cliff, Fool also shows up for when you forget about something.
Magician
owns the word do (and its synonyms) in all its forms, so here he is doing that. The authors of the deck feel his number, one, represents male gender and being active in the physical world, and, by golly, when I asked questions I knew the answers to, to find out Tarot’s meanings for itself, that is exactly what Magician means.
