HERMIT SEVEN OF PENTACLES

Honestly asking myself if I’m crazy.

I wonder what’s real and what’s b.s.

Guessing the facts in a morass of data.

Not so sure he’s a friend: This is a shock.

How did I get to be this old? – what the heck!

Taking a good look, it seems the place is a mess.

Looking at cold hard facts and thinking I’m confused.

Don’t know what I’m looking for, there are so many possibilities.

Tarot Readings: Hermit and Seven of Cups

HERMIT SEVEN OF CUPS

Looks like I lost control somehow.

Brain fog from being up all night, I guess.

Take a good look at this mess and ask yourself.

Seeing it the way it is shatters my world, sort of.

Looking at the pieces and wondering what to do.

Taking a good look since I’m confused and in doubt.

A religious person has a bizarre vision he questions.

The doctor ‘s examination raises all kinds of questions.

The truth hits me in the face, and I still wonder about it.

Searching through all the data and not knowing what to think.

Am I imagining, or is it true?

Maybe this drunk sobers up.

It seems I got lost on the road.

Lost it and don’t know where to look.

I wonder what’s b.s. and what’s real.

Chaos makes you wonder what’s real.

I seem to have fallen off the sobriety wagon.

When you marvel how out-of-control things are, you’re on track.

.

Hermit Here’s a sober and saintly old guy who’s out to help us right where we are: He’s looking for us to provide a meal and a place to spend the night where he lives. He is wise and willing to advise. Hermit is our friend. He shines a light on our path, enlightens or wises us up – it’s a perilous road out there that he’s the guide to. Think of Hermit as the realist, the practical and pragmatic approach or person. This card very often translates ‘know.’

.

Hermit is all about search, and looking: Here are the words and phrases for that from today’s sentences: to look; taking a good look; looking at cold hard facts; what I’m looking for; looks like; take a good look at; seeing it the way it is; looking at; searching through.

.

Hermit is all about what’s real, what’s true, the facts and the truth … looking at the cold hard facts and investigating the situation.

.

Hermit is on the road and is on the path, and this card means both those things – as well as being on track.

.

Hermit appears for virtues that fit his story: honesty, helping, sincerity, kindness, coming the other person. He especially stands for sobriety.

.

Other things Hermit appears for are being religious; nighttime and being awake at night, or night travel; and being a doctor, counselor, or other healer. The garb he is wearing identifies him as a doctor in the Middle Ages.

Seven of Pentacles What you see is what you get with Seven of Pentacles. You can see him leaning on his spade or shovel wondering about the plant. He doesn’t know, he wonders, he asks himself – and most of his language reflects this. He has done everything he can do for the plant to be successful in bearing cucumbers, but its future is uncertain. That uncertain future is a big part of Seven of Pentacles’ message.

.

Here are today’s words and phrases about all this: asking myself; ask yourself; he questions; raises questions; How did I?; Am I?; or is it? I wonder; guessing; I guess; wondering what to do; still wonder about it; I wonder what’s; makes you wonder; when you marvel; not so sure; it seems; I seem to have; in doubt; maybe; somehow; sort of, not knowing what to think, don’t know, and don’t know where.

Seven of Cups This illustration represents the moment the SHTF, and it describes the shock and confusion we feel when, unexpectedly, we lose control, or our situation is out of control. Seven of Cups owns the word ‘bizarre.’ Think nasty surprises. Think brain fog, imagining things, crazy person, b.s., shock, ‘hits me in the face,’ and ‘what the heck.’ Think lost – things or people, including yourself. Think confused or drunk.

.

Think pieces of things, which includes your world or a dish being shattered, and which includes a jumble of unrelated items, like a purse being dumped out or a file cabinet in disarray. Seven of Cups also means phrases like ‘all kinds of things.’

.

This is the card for data in a mess or a house in a mess … or any mess. Your life in a mess, even. Chaos is the word with Seven of Cups.

.

Seven of Cups also describes being high, hallucinating, delirium tremens, having a vision.

.

The picture shows the magician’s apprentice story (or Pandora’s Box). In this story, a boo-boo has drastic consequences: the release of evil spirits. The good spirit is released after the fact. Think SHTF. The apprentice ‘bit off more than he can chew,’ and is confronted with a situation he cannot deal with that is widespread or ‘all over the place.’ Losing control, and things being out of control, are what Seven of Cups is all about. This card can appear as a warning that you are about to make a mess of things.

.

Among the ‘lesser includeds’ for Seven of Cups are all sorts of surprises and amazement, being caught unprepared, being shocked, and even The Muse experience – the trance we get into when we are creating, that seems to come in whole cloth from ‘out there.’

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                   LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

…………..…………. …………………….

Once again we have two similar cards and an outlier, an unrelated one. Seven of Pentacles wonders and doesn’t know about the situation he is in (the plant is mature but has not yet blossomed) and Seven of Cups is presented with an out-of-control all-over-the-place scene around him.

.

Hermit, on the other hand, has been there and done that, and is a solution in search of a problem out on the road traveled by strangers – Everyman’s helpful friend. Hermit is wise, and Seven of Pentacles doesn’t know, wonders and questions. Hermit is an old monk with an ironclad routine in a serene life, and Seven of Cups is overwhelmed by everything at once going out of control in a nasty way. It’s suitable here that Hermit is the medic arriving on the scene of chaos with his wisdom intact.

.

Hermit is searching, and Seven of Pentacles is wondering. Hermit represents the facts and/or the truth that Seven of Pentacles wants to know. Hermit is sane and Seven of Cups can be a crazy person (or dealing with one). We also have a picture of being the wise one, the one who knows, when others are speculating, wondering, doubting. So Hermit is the sober one at the drunken party or at the festival of doubt, maybe the (? Virgo?) know-it-all whose friends are wondering about something.

.

Hermit is night, and being up at night, and Seven of Cups is a dream or nightmare.

.

Hermit is sober and Seven of Cups can be a disorderly drunk, can be high, or even be delirium tremens.

.

Hermit is a religious person, and Seven of Cups is a vision. Today Seven of Pentacles has him doubting the vision.

.

So we go from doubt in Seven of Pentacles to searching for the facts or the truth in Hermit. These cards describe an investigator assembling the facts ( Hermit) from a lot of unrelated clues ( Seven of Cups) to answer the whodunit question in his mind ( Seven of Pentacles).

.

Like I keep saying, when you have two similar cards and one that is different, you have stories.

. ……. ….. ……    . ..

.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:

.

So Hermit is the sober one at the drunken party or at the festival of doubt, maybe the (?Virgo?) know-it-all whose friends are wondering about something.

This describes an investigator assembling the facts (Hermit) from a lot of unrelated clues (Seven of Cups) to answer the whodunit question in his mind (Seven of Pentacles).

.

Like I keep saying, when you have two similar cards and one that is different, you have stories.

GUIDANCE     ‘Appearances are deceiving,’ they say, so today we are wondering what is real, what is true, and what is going on. We doubt and we mistrust. We smell agendas of self-interest all right, but bloodhounds we aren’t, so our search is complicated. We wonder whether we are on the right track … especially when we are. Questioning agendas and hunting for counterproductive ones is the quest of today.

To investigate, ask a sneaky question.

Asking around, you discover opposition within the ranks.

You are already wondering about some disinformation, and are on the track of it.

You know about their agenda, and you’re still thinking about things.

He figures he can get away with it, even with you lookin’.

……………..………………

Tarot Readings: Honest Crooks (Six of Wands and Hermit)

When you’re on the right path, you only seem to be counterproductive.

I get honest by suspecting my own motives.

Are my own motives honest here?

When you’re very honest, people question and suspect your motives.

When you help people, they think you’re up to something.

Where can I find an honest man in a crooked world?

……………..………………

Tarot Readings: Where Are the Games? (Six of Wands and Seven of Pentacles)

Are you a student of propaganda?

I think I’ll go on a bullshit hunt today.

It’s hard for me to tell the sincere people from the clowns.

Shall we look at games people we know play?

Seem to be looking for ‘What’s in it for me?’

Ever wonder why plain facts are in such dispute?

Are facts misleading?

I think we can use the facts to confuse ourselves.

I think I’ve been tricked into being helpful, here.

……………..………………

Tarot Readings: Games Doctors Play (Six of Wands and Hermit)

Question the side effects of the doctor’s regimen.

What happened to medical treatment is the profit motive.

……………..………………

Tarot Readings: Wonder Whether I’m on the Right Track (Hermit and Seven of Pentacles)

When I don’t know what I’m looking for, I will only seem to find it.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have no idea what’s real here.

Wondering whether I’m on the right track, or only think I am.

I look and act like I’m a loyal member of the group but I doubt I’m being honest about that.

So why do they want to get you to believe their version?

You will probably be misled along the way.

I doubt and mistrust my own powers of observation.

Unknown hazards of a quest for truth have me reconsidering it.

Things aren’t the way they seem; ask for a friend’s help.

Religions seem out to getcha, don’t they?

Six of Wands – Hermit – Seven of Pentacles

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……..……...……... ….  Hermit and Seven of Pentacles – in very different ways – want to know what’s real. Hermit is on either a fact-finding mission or a spiritual quest. (Today he isn’t physically searching for the lost item or folks.) Seven of Pentacles wants to know whether his plants will pay off, and only time will tell. Both Seven of Pentacles and Six of Wands can say ‘seem to be.’Six of Wands is why they are searching: Appearances are deceiving. We look into the various ways appearances are deceiving today, including self-deception, the profit motive, spiritual and religious angles, and the facts as agents of confusion.

These three cards in Tarot Verbatim™ are a prolific combination: They have a lot to say, and much of it is similar (as you can see from the sentences that did get in the door. I could do scores of other ones, and so can you if you have been visiting here for a while.

………………………..  Six of Wands says appearances are deceiving today, as part of advice to wonder and hunt. When you can’t trust the environment (Six of Wands), you wonder (Seven of Pentacles) and hunt (Hermit), because what you need to know to make sense of things is underwater, and you could get cut on some sharp rocks that are in your way. Deliberate deception is the tip of that rocky iceberg we are talking about: You can’t trust yourself, even, to gauge what’s real, because of your own self-interest. Competing interests are what human history is about, are the snakes in the woodpile of human experience.

…………………….  Hermit is looking for, searching; is on the path; is about the truth, facts, and what’s real. He is the friend as Six of Wands is the false friend; he is helping as Six of Wands is sabotaging. We aren’t going into his meanings about physical searches, because that isn’t our today topic. Today Hermit stands between deceptive environment and puzzling or figuring it out. Today Hermit is investigating what’s going on, and is on a quest for spiritual and religious truth especially in regard – due to the influence of Six of Wands – to being misled and not trusting his own powers of observation.

This layout is a great example of how one card’s meanings are narrowed and herded into the part that applies to that particular inquiry.

……………………….   Seven of Pentacles is also about the search and the quest. It is magnifying Hermit’s search-for-truth meanings by echoing them in our spread. Seven of Pentacles’ main meanings are wondering, pondering, figuring out, and not knowing. He is one of the ‘Duh’ cards that puts a question mark at the end of your sentence. He often translates ‘doubt’ and his formal title in most Rider Waite Tarot books is ‘doubt about the outcome,’ which is what the illustration depicts. Seven of Pentacles leans on his shovel in his garden, wondering whether his plant will bear.

People who know it all know nothing, and people who are sure they are right are disproportionately wrong. So when I think I’ve got the conceptual world by the tail, I feel a red light in the back of my mind. Doubt your doubts too, though. The more willing you are to be a fool, the more on-track you will end up being.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

Six of Wands………Six of Wands depicts the Pyrrhic victory of King Richard III. See the horse looking back at you meaningfully? That’s the tip-off. Story is: In a battle with invading Arabs, the second-in-line to the throne of England somehow arranged for the king (Back then leaders actually fought in their wars!) to pursue a retreating Arab force, so that the Arabs could kidnap him. Same maneuver happened to Jeanne d’Arc, come to think of it. (Her voices told her not to pursue, she said.) Neither of them ever saw their home country again.

So Six of Wands says you’ve got a frenemy; appearances are deceiving; do not trust the environment, especially the people in it.

Hermit.…………Hermit is about a search, and about helping other people, and about the facts and truth. We use only these main meanings of his today. He becomes the investigator when ‘truth’ and ‘search’ intersect in his dictionary: search for the facts. Today Hermit is looking for the truth in deceptive territory due to Six of Wands. And today Hermit is doubting his own powers of observation due to Seven of Wands’ doubt.

Hermit is a monk who goes out looking for travelers to help. He carries a lamp on his way (light-on-the-path sort of thing) and he represents truth, sincerity, being on the path, and all sorts of sincere virtue. Hermit means ‘search for truth’ by combining some of those meanings.

.

Seven of Pentacles……….Seven of Pentacles is reasonable doubt, founded doubt, and also simply means ‘don’t know.’ It introduces questions through this ‘don’t know.’ Don’t know how, don’t know why, etc.: No other card needed. As a ‘duh’ card in Tarot Verbatim™, Seven of Pentacles turns the information in the spread into a question. Seven of Pentacles comes by wondering whether his cucumber plant will make cucumbers honestly: Only time will tell whether both genders of this plant are close enough to pollinate one another.

GUIDANCE      We describe what it feels like to seek and not know, and to find out and be surprised or skeptical. Always looking for something, and we may not know what it is until we find it, and even then we are not so sure. A friend helps. Tarot Readings: Am I on the Right Track? (Hermit and Seven of Pentacles)

I don’t know whether this new consciousness is practical.

I didn’t know what I was looking for until I found it.

I have a friend who enlightens me when I don’t know.

You find out the truth and wonder still!

You wonder if it’s true, you seek the facts, you find out.

You go from doubting to being surprised by the facts.

Look again when you are in doubt.

A sincere search seems to open up a whole new vista.

Asking myself whether I’m on the right track for enlightenment.

Question what you are told – look for yourself.

I seem to be morphing into being a seeker!

I have encountered a puzzling new consciousness on my path.

Honestly asking myself whether to change.

An objective inquiry into a whole new perspective.

A religious person questions his revelation.

Am I sincere in seeking enlightenment?

…..…..

Tarot Readings: Recover with a Doctor (Judgment and Hermit)

The doctor’s questions changed my life.

You recover when the doctor asks you questions.

What if you go looking for your own recovery?

Will I recover with this doctor?

Can I be healed and recover?

…..…..

Tarot Readings: Asking Again (Judgment and Seven of Pentacles)

What happens if I tell the truth?

Not so sure about being a friend again.

Considering being honest next time.

I think I can get sober again.

I think I am going back there to check it out.

I think I’m right this time.

Whether to tell the truth.

I seek an honest response to my question.

Can I go back to being devoted?

Did he tell me the truth?

What did the old man say?

.

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined meanings of the three cards in the pictures in the Tarot Readings.  It explains how these cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONSis a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – than a personal reading would give you. Also, pronouns are flexible: If the sentence feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ but you’re a ‘she,’ well, it’s yours.

*AND if you write names of any two cards into the Google search bar, it will give you meanings of those!

Judgment – Hermit – Seven of Pentacles

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

………………………      It’s almost the scientific method: We go from doubt (Seven of Pentacles) to searching for the facts or the truth (Hermit) to discovery (Judgment). The story of my life is, I am always hunting, looking (Hermit), wondering (Seven of Pentacles), and then I find a new perspective, a new phase (Judgment). The point is, yes, that’s the way it goes. We ponder (Seven of Pentacles) and we learn (Hermit), and then we discover a conclusion (Judgment).

………………………..    Judgment is the Aha moment. Judgment is the new life, the revelation or enlightenment that makes the next phase, the discovery that gives us new life. Its illustration shows people returning to life who died: That’s recovery. That’s a new phase, a new perspective, a re-do … lots of ‘re’s there. The discovery, news, and revelation categories of meanings for Judgment come, of course, from the angel’s horn that awakens the dead. (Naturally, the angel can apply literally.)

With all this application to life path and salvation, it’s easy to ignore the mundane applications of Judgment, such as to return, to go back there, to realize or remember something, the musical instrument (horn, but it can be any instrument), even an alarm clock waking you up. Apply the concept of waking up and going back and redoing to anything at all.

………………………..   Hermit is out looking to help people, so he is out looking, and he helps people. He is coming to another person or people; he is looking for or seeking (anything); he is a friend; he is a doctor or counselor (or other healer) because that is what doctors wore back then. A doctor on the road can be a paramedic or ambulance personnel – not today. Hermit is an old or older man, is a wise person, and is a friend – especially a friend who helps. Hermit is also a pedestrian, and a person who is going from one place to another, traveling. He can represent a search on roads.

………………………..   Seven of Pentacles  represents those times there’s no way to know right now, times when not knowing is perfectly acceptable, because no one else would know either. This man has planted, weeded, watered, and is wondering whether his cucumber plant will bear, because it is one of those gendered plants. Seven of Pentacles is a ‘Duh’ card. ‘Duh’ is a gear in our brain when we either really don’t know and wonder, or when we slip into that because we don’t really want to know. Since we are confused, we can’t tell the difference, and that is what Seven of Pentacles is all about. Today, he has a friend who enlightens him.

……….………….   Judgment and Hermit  are both potentially religious and spiritual cards. Hermit is seeking, is the truth, represents virtues, is a friend, is sincere, is even a religious person, a monk (but it means ‘practical’ and has a ‘factual’ category of meanings). Judgment is new consciousness, new perspective, and enlightenment, is life-changing, is even a revelation. Here are the sentences for this theme:

This new consciousness is practical.

I have a friend who enlightens me.

You find out the truth.

You seek the facts, you find out.

Being surprised by the facts.

A sincere search to open up a whole new vista.

Whether I’m on the right track for enlightenment.

Morphing into being a seeker!

I have encountered a new consciousness on my path.

Honestly to change.

An objective _ into a whole new perspective.

A religious person’s revelation.

Sincere in seeking enlightenment.

what I was looking for until I found it.

Judgment is a ‘re-‘ word; it means again, go back to, next time, the second time around, etc. Hermit represents virtue, as I said, and here are some: a friend, honest, sober, being right, being devoted, and checking things out. Here are those sentences:

Being a friend again.

Be honest next time.

Get sober again.

I am going back there to check it out.

I’m right this time.

Go back to being devoted.

Hermit is looking; Judgment means ‘again’ and also it is a speak, say, tell word – that theme. Here are those sentences:

Look again.

what you are told: Look for yourself.

Hermit is the truth, and Judgment is speak, say, tell, etc. Here are those sentences:

Tell the truth.

_ happens … tell the truth.

Tell me the truth.

Hermit is a doctor and Judgment is recovery, and here are those sentences:

RECOVERY WITH A DOCTOR

The doctor changed my life.

You recover when the doctor ….

You go looking for your own recovery.

Recover with this doctor.

Healed and recover. x..

Most of us most of the time are looking for something, wondering about something, and what we learn surprises us, often, on these missions. It’s not just finding our keys in the refrigerator; it’s discovering along the way about the meaning of life, to us personally, in our own context, as we go along our way, and experiencing those shifts in perspective and that widening of the spectrum of our vision as we see more and more (uh, and get older).

Judgment ……….. Judgment is the place in the story where you find out what it was all about. Judgment is the revelation, the announcement, the news, the discovery, and the awakening. There’s a hint of ‘well, now that I know’ to Judgment. Judgment is recovery and a new life, physically, in the same way it is discovering the truth on your life path and going on from there. You see the angel awakening the dead on Judgment Day, which makes this one of the legal cards, with his horn, which makes it one of the music and performance cards. Combine ‘realizing’ with ‘happening again,’ and you get ‘flashback’ for Judgment.

.

Hermit …………. Hermit is looking to help. Hermit is any kind of search, from ‘the meaning of life’ to where I put my keys, or an organized search involving many people. Hermit also represents most of the virtues, since he is a monk: chastity, honesty, being helpful, being a friend, coming to someone who is in need. Hermit is on the road, which makes it one of the cards about traveling, especially on foot. Less obvious is Hermit meaning ‘the facts,’ factual, practical or pragmatic … ‘real,’ genuine. Watch for Hermit to indicate that what you need to know comes to you. It means a friend brings you information sometimes.

.

Seven of Pentacles …………. Seven of Pentacles is ‘I wonder.’ It says ‘What if.’ It means doubt about the outcome because he cannot know whether his plant will bear, after all the work he has done; he just has to wait. That makes Seven of Pentacles one of the ‘Duh’ cards – one of the cards that means either a person doesn’t really know and is wondering and pondering, or that the person is in what I call ‘Duh Gear,’ pretending – maybe even to himself – that he doesn’t know, ‘acting innocent, as we say. Seven of Pentacles turns your sentence into a question, very often.

Tarot Readings for You for March 14, 2014 Friday©

Guidance       What people think of is often what happens; what they don’t think of tends not to happen.    The relationship between what we think and care about and what we dismiss without thinking about is today’s offbeat theme.    Advice is to watch your step, and not sweep under the rug a diamond or a bomb.  “When you don’t quite know what you search for, the search is never over.”   Seek humbly to not dismiss your doubts.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

Tarot Readings: Honest Man or Not? (Hermit and Seven of Pentacles)

If I think I can’t be honest, I leave.

I guess he isn’t a good man anymore.

He is not true to me; I doubt he ever was.

The way he avoids me, I deduce he isn’t devoted.

Tarot Readings: Quit Looking (Death and Hermit)

Wonder whether I prematurely quit looking.

When you don’t quite know what you search for, the search is never over.

I’m not curious any more, I don’t even go out.

You quit wondering when you run across the facts.

You figure out it isn’t true and you abandon course.

The truth is: I am not even curious any more.

The patient who has alternatives does not ask questions.

Medical science hasn’t even questioned that yet.

Deceased comes to show you, so you quit wondering.

When he drops in to help, that ends all doubt.

You don’t have to question that: He died caring for you.

Tarot Readings: Out Searching (Eight of Cups and Hermit)

Seek humbly to not dismiss your doubts.

Person disappeared, or died, we don’t know: We are out searching.

Want to know the truth about near-death experiences.

Why did he quit right in the middle? – It’s not being looked into.

There isn’t a diagnosis yet – it’s open to question, is not over.

Maybe I just don’t see the way out?

Asks you to help end something that never began anyway..

Death is a fact; we wonder where we go.

Shows you a short cut you never would have thought of.

Understands why you left; doesn’t ask questions.

Tarot Readings: Figure it’s Over (Seven of Pentacles and Death)

Will come to you somehow before it’s over.

Ended treatment before I thought it was time.

Now that he is dead, the truth all of a sudden seems to come out.

Before it’s over, he demonstrates he is not really your friend.

Healing is finished, I figure that’s the end.

Tarot Readings: Changes that Don’t Happen (Eight of Cups and Death)

It looks like help does not arrive in time.

Don’t stew over it; know that you will be out of there.

It seems switching does not help.

Why not be straight for a change?

The way he avoids me, I deduce he isn’t going to be helpful.

Tarot Readings: Unexpected Death (Eight of Cups and Death)

He was old but his death was still mysterious and unexpected.

They aren’t going to question or investigate the unexplained death.

A physician-attended death isn’t going to be questioned.

Doctor isn’t sure; death was unexpected.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL SIX 2-CARD COMBINATIONSis a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Death

Eight of Cups – Hermit – Seven of Pentacles

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Hermit is our star card, the one that most aspects the others. It means to search, to be on the path, to be monogamous as well as to be virtuous (sincere, helpful, devoted, a friend, understanding). Hermit is a male card, and can be a healer. He also travels, goes outdoors searching for people. He is the truth. He is a doctor or even medical science: knowledge, data.

To the left of Hermit is Eight of Cups which means to avoid, abandon, end prematurely, evade, disappear, drop out or leave unexpectedly. Eight of Cups is about timing: a shortcut, or something is over before it begins. ‘Now that’ and ‘ever was’ are some of its more subtle phrases.

Hermit and Seven of Pentacles      To the right of Hermit is Seven of Pentacles: to wonder and ponder about some unknown, to question, to be uncertain. It picks up the ‘look into’ or ‘investigate’ of Hermit.

Eight of Cups and Death      Above Hermit is Death, the great negator. It picks up ‘departure’ of Eight of Cups. Both mean an end. With Hermit being the physician, Death can now be literally interpreted, which it seldom is. Now you have a near-death experience, and unexpected death or sudden death.

      Eight of Cups and Death      So, see, we have pairs that mean similar things: Eight of Cups and Death are endings;

Hermit and Seven of Pentacles       are inquiries, are looking at something.

When you work with cards that have similar meanings, it’s confusing to assign phrases from the sentences to a particular card instead of the other one. Then, you have to be mindful of which meaning the sentence is making of each of them.

Eight of Cups and Hermit       both have a connection to religion, since Eight of Cups can be on a pilgrimage, but that is tenuous, is irrelevant.

Our theme is the role of thinking and searching in endings of things. The subject is deeper than at first you think.

Eight of Cups      The Unfinished Symphony is Eight of Cups’ song. Incomplete action every kind of way. A person afoot on a long journey (pilgrimage) is forced by terrain to change direction, change course, make a detour. The sliver and full moon together suggested end/beginning – something over before it begins, aborted, abandoned, dismissed, changed unexpectedly or abruptly. Hasn’t even yet, near-(death), any more, ever was, before it’s over… these are some of its expressions.

Hermit      The friend who helps, the good man who teaches, goes out of his way. He searches for travelers in distress (search party) and is a physician. Hermit is watching, looking out for, being patient, coming to, traveling, inquiry, investigations. He is truthful and even stands for the facts. He understands/understanding. He is honest/honesty. He also shows and demonstrates as part of his ‘guide’ meanings. Humility. Being straight. Being celibate, which these days is ‘monogamous.’ He is also elderly.

Seven of Pentacles      Think of this fellow as one of the ‘Duh’ cards. It calls forth a question; it catapults the sentence into question form often. Illustration shows a fellow wondering whether he (or his neighbors) planted enough cucumbers (since it is a gendered crop) to produce a crop. Some of its quizzical phrases today are: I guess, suspicions, ask questions, you wonder, even consider, I doubt, does not seem to, you figure, wonder whether, don’t quite know, curious, ….

Death      In Tarot Verbatim ™, Death is a negative modifier that sometimes literally means death if other cards set that theme. In just about any other system, Death is not so limited. (Go figure.) Anyway, this is one of the easiest to spot a meaning for. Here are just a few because they are so repetitious: isn’t, not to, no, ain’t going to, not, does not, not being, isn’t, quit, over, never would have, ended, end of it, die.

Our Daily Spread June 12, 2011

This Weekend’s Question is: A Satisfactory Love Life. Advice about a satisfactory love life brings up three cards out of four that each mean ‘thinking and feeling’ and in their midst is ‘sharing.’ Sharing thoughts and feelings means a satisfactory love life, we say here. The implication of the messages is: “This describes the real thing: Is this what you have?” Have you found the Holy Grail of Satisfying Love? Someone you have the magic moments with most of the time? ========================================================================= Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do: *Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. At least one of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”) The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days. (Some days are ‘keep an eye open for’ and some days are ‘green light, go fast.’) *Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! ======================================================================== DAILY MESSAGE TAROT ANALYSIS Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. Isn’t what you are looking for the intense sharing of experience? Isn’t it camaraderie and intuitive sharing you are looking for? Do you intensely share the moment and sense one another’s sincere affection? We each have the same vision of what’s real, don’t we? Realize this isn’t just dating, it’s caring. He is even considerate to her girl friends; and does he even think of it that way? How can we each know what makes the other happy, instinctively? Caring and sharing without even thinking of it that way. We somehow realize we are looking out for one another’s welfare. We are both looking out for one another’s happiness and prosperity, getting ideas and inspirations. Your friends realize how happy you are when they see you together, and wonder how you do it. You instinctively figure (he) is sincere when (he) finds ways to be with you. Somehow you just know (he) will come to your aid and share the wealth. We seem to know we care for one another in the same way. Looking out for one another must be what it’s all about: We realize this! Are you looking for that instinctive Three Musketeers [one for all, all for one] bond? How do you look for that kind of psychic bond? In our guts, we somehow instinctively know what we are looking for is a shared life. Does this person realize what being a friend and getting along with friends is all about? He went out looking for girlfriends and wonders at what he found. ======================================================================== Now, Part Two, Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim ™ thing works? If so, *Go to the first Meanings and Illustrations section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Daily Spread – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together to mean things. Then you can *Go to the second Meanings and Illustrations. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It describes how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in this Spread. You can put all this together and see yourself how Tarot Verbatim ™ works. Photos of the animals are in with the articles I write for you. Click the link. Enjoy them too! The people who call me support these and other animals. 100 photos are not posted here yet. Say hello back! Comment! I spend two hours a day or more writing these to you. Remember to share your experience about our experiment here if you have words for it. Read others’ comments. And you can call me at the 800 99 3 6 9 12 number from Eastern 1 p. m. to Eastern 1 a. m. at least, every day. (3-6-9-12 like a clock. It makes a pattern on the phone as well – easy to remember.) I analyze business situations and personal relationships accurately from both Tarot and practical perspectives, and even make it fun. (Testimonials are on the web site. Just click the link.) ========================================================================= Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread We ask about a satisfying love life and we get three of four Rider Waite Tarot citizens that mean ‘thinking and feeling’ in different aspects. In their midst, sharing – sharing the good feeling, the magic moment. Well yes, that is what satisfying love feels like! The implication is: This is what to look for – the Hermit who searches and who means truth and sincerity. Hermit and Hanged Man both are about seeing, understanding. Hermit is searching, is on the path (of service) and also means factual truth. Hanged Man is the eureka realization that disorients us from our standard consciousness. It’s ‘catching on.’ It’s ‘getting it.’ It’s ‘seeing through.’ It’s intense experience as well as intense realization. It’s ‘So that’s it.’ It is the striking thought. Hermit and Seven of Cups are the search, the figuring it out. Hermit is following the trail of the facts toward an understanding of the truth. (That is why he also stands for an investigation.) Seven of Cups is the ‘Do you suppose?’ theory stage of the search-and-realization process. Three of Cups and Seven of Cups both involve harvest, but we aren’t using those meanings today. The Rider Waite Tarot card this is all about is being at one, sharing experience, joy and material goods. And that is a pretty good definition of a satisfactory love life, isn’t it? Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards Hermit is searching, is on the path (of service) and also means factual truth. He stands for sincerity and honesty and being a friend, helping out. His illustration is the monk out looking for people on the road to help who might be stranded or lost. Three of Cups’ key word is sharing. All for one and one for all, the Three Musketeers, pooling resources and sharing the profits of the shared work. Dating and girlfriends too. The illustration shows three girls who are rejoicing about their harvest on their farm. Seven of Pentacles wonders and figures and is all about theory and whether … ‘What are the chances?’ It seems, doesn’t it? Maybe. Hmmm. His illustration is the fella who planted cucumbers, which require a male and female plant in order to bear fruit. He wonders whether he will have his harvest. Hierophant is the eureka realization that disorients us from our standard consciousness. It’s ‘catching on.’ It’s ‘getting it.’ It’s ‘seeing through.’ It’s intense experience as well as intense realization. It’s ‘So that’s it.’ It is the striking thought. The illustration is a fellow hanging upside-down, his head encased with beaming light like the halo on old paintings of saints. It depicts how you feel … upside-down … when you have a new orientation from a thought.
