Hermit – You put a story together about an elderly monk who is a doctor who goes out on mountain passes at night with a lamp to locate travelers, help them, and treat them to a warm bed and hot meal, and you have a lot of elements you can apply to your Tarot story. If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ is a summary of what the cards are generally advising visitors to be aware of that day. ‘Tarot Readings’ is the actual word for word messages the cards are conveying. Tarot can come up with a wide variety of sentences (sometimes even completely contradictory sentences!) in a group reading as there is no specific question being asked. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Hermit and Knight of Wands are each on the road, moving, traveling. Knight of Wands is in a rush and Hermit isn’t. Hermit’s traveling on foot at night in the cold mountains; Knight of Wands is moving fast in the daylight desert heat. Hermit is definitely coming to but Knight of Wands is more likely to be fleeing from. They both mean other things as well, of course.
Hermit is looking for people who have problems to help them, and is wise; Strength is applying a solution to a pr oblem. They both know how to fix the problem. They both are morally and spiritually superior beings.
Three of Cups is what happens when you have handled all those issues: sharing the good life, content and happy, with like-minded friends.

Hermit He is on the road, moving, carrying his light, traveling at night in the cold mountains, and is in no rush. Hermit is looking for, and coming to, people who have problems to help them, and is wise as well as morally and spiritually superior; he knows how to fix the problem.
Knight of Wands is in a hurry, rushing, running, speeding to or from. He is on the road (overland transport, by vehicle). He is moving fast in the daylight desert heat. He is about traveling, relocating, moving, being transferred, fast progress, pursuing. fleeing from, getting out of Dodge.
Strength applies the solution to the problem before it does any harm. Strength finesses a potential threat or an active one: She makes the mugger buddy up to her. She knows how to handle herself, knows how to fix the problem. She is also about stroking, petting, touch. You see her shutting the mouth of the lion that was attacking and is now purring instead … and not liking it.
Three of Cups is what happens when you have handled all those issues: sharing the good life, content and happy, with like-minded friends. You see the three of them celebrating, still friends after sharing the investment and the labor and the proceeds of the harvest.
EXPLANATIONS:
Each and every ‘Tarot Reading’ sentence you see is a literal interpretation of the four Rider Waite Tarot cards drawn and pictured for today. (The literal interpretation is from the illustration on each card.) These sentences are put together by only combining the phrases of what each cards says. In other words, there are NO “filler” phrases added just to make full sentences, and no psychic ability or spirit guide is ever involved.
*Without a question* in a group reading to focus the answer, the four Tarot cards can mean quite contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no,’ ‘never’ or ‘not.’ These negative modifiers can apply to any one of the other cards.
*Without a question* in a group reading, the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) are more flexible. Whenever you see a pronoun in parentheses, please *feel very free* to substitute another pronoun than the one used. I try to drop pronouns when possible, which, if you’ve noticed, can make for awkward phrasing.
Now in an ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question and thereby supplies at least half the information! In an individual situation, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading we cannot do that and so we get a variety of sentences.
Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers know this!)
Tarot, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of flexibly addressing any group, including all of the visitors that come to this site. It can also address people you might not even know personally, such as all the people at your job who have a say in whether or not you get a raise.
We have been wondering here lately whether the Tarot Verbatim(TM) sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than they are for people who visit this site only once in awhile or for a short time. This Weekend’s Question is: A Satisfactory Love Life. Advice about a satisfactory love life brings up three cards out of four that each mean ‘thinking and feeling’ and in their midst is ‘sharing.’ Sharing thoughts and feelings means a satisfactory love life, we say here. The implication of the messages is: “This describes the real thing: Is this what you have?” Have you found the Holy Grail of Satisfying Love? Someone you have the magic moments with most of the time?

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. In their midst, sharing – sharing the good feeling, the magic moment. Well yes, that is what satisfying love feels like! The implication is: This is what to look for – the Hermit who searches and who means truth and sincerity. Hermit and Hanged Man both are about seeing, understanding. Hermit is searching, is on the path (of service) and also means factual truth. Hanged Man is the eureka realization that disorients us from our standard consciousness. It’s ‘catching on.’ It’s ‘getting it.’ It’s ‘seeing through.’ It’s intense experience as well as intense realization. It’s ‘So that’s it.’ It is the striking thought. Hermit and Seven of Cups are the search, the figuring it out. Hermit is following the trail of the facts toward an understanding of the truth. (That is why he also stands for an investigation.) Seven of Cups is the ‘Do you suppose?’ theory stage of the search-and-realization process. Three of Cups and Seven of Cups both involve harvest, but we aren’t using those meanings today. The Rider Waite Tarot card this is all about is being at one, sharing experience, joy and material goods. And that is a pretty good definition of a satisfactory love life, isn’t it? Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards Hermit is searching, is on the path (of service) and also means factual truth. He stands for sincerity and honesty and being a friend, helping out. His illustration is the monk out looking for people on the road to help who might be stranded or lost. Three of Cups’ key word is sharing. All for one and one for all, the Three Musketeers, pooling resources and sharing the profits of the shared work. Dating and girlfriends too. The illustration shows three girls who are rejoicing about their harvest on their farm. Seven of Pentacles wonders and figures and is all about theory and whether … ‘What are the chances?’ It seems, doesn’t it? Maybe. Hmmm. His illustration is the fella who planted cucumbers, which require a male and female plant in order to bear fruit. He wonders whether he will have his harvest. Hierophant is the eureka realization that disorients us from our standard consciousness. It’s ‘catching on.’ It’s ‘getting it.’ It’s ‘seeing through.’ It’s intense experience as well as intense realization. It’s ‘So that’s it.’ It is the striking thought.
