High Priestess – Here’s a highly esoteric (occult) Rider Waite Tarot card with a hodgepodge of spiritual symbols all over it. It all stems from this card being the number two Major Arcanae. Just being the two makes High Priestess the female principle, makes it passive in nature. Her crown reflects the Egyptian dynasties after the two kingdoms became one. The pomegranates are symbolic (of righteousness because it has 613 seeds in Jewish tradition, and of fertility and abundance elsewhere). The ‘B’ and ‘J’ pillars are for mercy versus severity in the inner sanctum of the Jewish temple. Then there’s the equal-armed cross and the sliver of a moon.

Today love and children establish a romance theme, so today High Priestess is about being female in most of our sentences: girl, lady, nice lady, quiet lady, lady who knows, she knows how, woman, other woman, woman at home.
.
The two, the feminine principle, is passive – is associated with being and knowing, and not with doing, not with taking any initiative, because those are opposites in the occult traditions. That makes High Priestess the quiet lady, the background, taking no initiative, being secretive, knowing and having wisdom or being an expert – even knowing how to. Watch for this card to tell you the woman should not call the man, should not make any overtures romantically. High Priestess will appear as advice not to take action. Also watch for it to indicate a woman stays – stays where she is (doesn’t get another job or transfer) or stays home. (Or is home – which Queen of Wands will also indicate).

High Priestess is also the spiritual plane and being spiritual in Tarot language. Today she even translates ‘soul,’ which I think is a first.

Other rarer meanings that appear for High Priestess today are: secretive, in the background, bookkeeper (She has a book in her lap).

Six of Cups – If we had a contest for the Tarot card with the most meanings or the most applications, Six of Cups would be in the running if not the champion (in Tarot Verbatim™ anyway). You see two well-dressed children in an old neighborhood, and a boy is giving a girl flowers. This story calls up young love, and old memories and old friends.

Six of Cups and Sun are the cards for children or child. Sun can be a brat, and Six of Cups is a good boy, good girl, or good children. Six of Cups is also childhood. It also refers to being good, being young, being childlike and trusting – and also for being trustworthy.
.
Combine romance with children and you get childhood sweetheart. Six of Cups refers to the past and to ‘the good old days,’ nostalgia. So it is also an old friend, including an old friend who gets in touch. And so it means ‘old-fashioned.’

Six of Cups is the card for giving or getting a gift, especially a birthday or Valentine’s Day gift.

And Six of Cups is even a ‘real estate’ card: It speaks of an old house, a cute or quaint house or cottage, an old neighborhood – and of course a safe neighborhood, a neighborhood for children.

Six of Cups appears for sweetness, including the sweet life.
Lovers – Lovers today is emphasizing its love meanings because Six of Cups is another romantic card. Lovers is not so much about loving (per se) but more about the connection, the contact, being in touch, being with, being together, being partners. But most of its meanings today are ‘love’ ones: is in love, he loves, is in love with, mate, a man she loves, get them to love one another, a love, lovin’, love affair, sweetheart, a lover, romantic.

Lovers says ‘partner,’ which applies in any way (even partners in crime with, say Seven of Swords).

And Lovers refers to ‘higher powers’ both as to the higher-ups in a hierarchy (job, usually), and as to spiritual higher power.

And watch for this card to say ‘insurance,’ which arises from the ‘got you covered’ of the angel doing surveillance on Adam and Eve. It will represent that word even if you don’t think of the card that way, several people have remarked to me.
