Guidance      We are not born enlightened; we are born ignorant, with potentials and inclinations.  We earn every bit of emotional intelligence, even if we start out with a knack for it.   The price of emotional intelligence or enlightenment is (1) the discomforts of realizing what it is that we are ignorant of, and (2) the process of – piece by piece – changing ourselves to be what we have seen in our peak experience.  Well, that process is a kind of misery, an angst in itself, which we call Dark Night of the Soul.  Some people call the whole routine 'The Great Work,' some people call it salvation, some people call it enlightenment.  Some people call it growing up.  It doesn't care what we call it; it calls upon us without words because it is beyond our languages.
