You two had a contract stronger than any written one that he would pay the bills and keep all bad things away, and she would believe in him and make him powerful. The world worked like that for a long time. There was a lot more to it, of course, than that. Like she would not work, and she would not complain about his indiscretions. Well, why are we visiting them? I don't know, but here they are, along with some other intriguing questions and observations.
