Today as yesterday we have the warm-puppy boyfriend, and the person resting or relaxing in a time-out phase …. not doing anything, Four of Swords. These are joined by Strength. Strength brings out the part of Four of Swords about not participating because she is about not allowing interference, so we have ‘no interference’ as a theme. (See Tarot run.)
………………………….. Knight of Cups is the warm-puppy boyfriend, the helper or helpful person or the help itself, cooperation and good manners. Today, as yesterday, it’s his relationship with his lady that occupies him, and only that, so we will leave him there. We say this is a lady he doesn’t have to seduce.

Knight of Cups …….. Knight of Cups is the person we all like and trust and think is ‘like me’ because he is so very social, so friendly in a way we feel is natural. He is the person every con artist wants to be … and isn’t, usually. Knight of Cups is my guy, my buddy. He is warm. I call him The Warm Puppy in romance because, well, that’s what he is. You can see it in his picture here. Look at those other knights: They have actual weapons. Not this guy. His hand has the cup of friendship in it, and he is extending that to … me! Yes! Knight of Cups is the offer and the acceptance, the fellow with the glass slipper we would like to slip on. And his armor is for decoration only. Notice on his head is the wings of Mercury the Communicator. Is he Johnny Depp?

Four of Swords …………. Four of Swords ain’t about to, has already, is indifferent, is sleeping on it, doesn’t need to, isn’t active, and don’t bother him until … latah. The source of all this inactivity is the kind of meditation ones does in a vision quest. The picture is about the part of the knighthood ceremony in which the candidate must overnight in the cathedral lying upon the remains of the resident saint or hero, awaiting his vision of his Life Purpose as a knight. He must report that vision to the bishop of the church, who gets to determine whether he will be a knight or not, at least in theory. The Roman Catholic church also got to intrude upon the crowning of the king, the ultimate political authority too.

Strength …………. Strength reminds me of a folk song that repeats ‘Mama don’t allow.’ This is the strong woman who exerts her influence to straighten things out and make people behave, and she does that diplomatically without any nastiness (See the white robe, the fresh flowers as her belt, and her math-constant halo?), countering beastly influences with indirect pressure to be gentle or else.

Four of Swords …………. Four of Swords is time out. Nothing is doing. No activity. Today it’s saying ‘That’s all folks’ about the story of the the two in love. Most of the time it means disinterest (which it does, a little, today) but it also often means no further interest. Four of Swords is a a vision quest, which opens up an whole new not-today avenue of its meanings. The picture is about the night a knight spends on the coffin of a saint or hero the church contains, to have his vision from God about his life purpose as a knight.

Our story is serendipity through peaceful coexistence and the smothering of opposition.
………………………….. Knight of Cups is one of those charming fellows (or gals) everyone likes, who rubs no man (or woman) the wrong way. Most of these superhumans are born, not made, but you can get to a similar place via resolving your own internal conflicts … ‘working on yourself.’ Working on yourself is a recent human interest, you know … Genghis Khan and Queen Victoria never dreamed of that. You see Mr. Knight’s outstretched hand, and his offer of a drink.
………………………….. Strength is one of those people you can’t fight with. She (or he) sees you coming and cooks up a way to deflect your venom but not overtly. Pictured is the perfect squelch: She pets the monster, making it feel accepted in spite of itself, smothering its hostility in a businesslike peaceful vibe. She is taming the beast.
