Guidance

This hard-headed guy is in love, but he has to make up his mind to actually act on it, actually take initiative. When you’re really in love, you have to think about it before you act on it. That’s just the way it often is. Other times, the same guy makes love because that’s just the one thing upfront on his manly mind.

Synopsis

What we love and enjoy, what is easy and comfortable to us: that’s where our focus tends to be, and our actions tend to follow close behind our focus. We are more fond of things that are easy for us to do, so we tend to do them until they are the steering wheel of our ambition.

Magician

Caught in the act of creating or preventing an event is our Magician, right hand raised to heaven, left hand earthward to ground himself in the transition between heaven and earth. This is what Magicians, and humans, do: channel happenings.

Meanings of Magician are very simple – so simple that finding and applying words is not so simple. First conjugate the words ‘do,’ and ‘make,’ and then add forms of the words ‘act’ and ‘active.’ Then add words and phrases about starting, initiating, and beginning. He introduces himself in romance sagas, for instance.

You got it. It’s that well defined. Here is the variety of ‘do’ words for today, though, to give you an idea about applying this card’s words: do, doing, do things, do what it takes to, to do, you do, he does, do something, doing it, to      get things done, after what he did, what you are doing, does something about it.

Ace of Cups

Although this Ace of Cups card has far-flung and numerous words and phrases to its name, they are apples that do not fall far from the tree when you know what it, and its picture, are all about. Today, we use eleven categories of Ace of Cups’ meanings.* This is a Roman Catholic cultured Tarot card, as are a few of Rider Waite’s. It depicts Holy Communion, and God’s spirit entering the consciousness of a person, entering and flowing through the whole body metabolism of a member, flowing into mass consciousness.

The dove of course is Holy Spirit, and it carries the wafer of the Communion ceremony, depositing it into a fountain (representing the human) from which flows the five senses (or five ‘bodily humors’ if you are going by Middle Ages culture) – flows into mass consciousness, represented by the large body of water with the water lilies.

So Ace of Cups is all good things including people who are good, God, positive effects on people around (you or whoever). Ace of Cups is a flow of any sort, which expands to include cooperation, going with the flow, comfortable and relaxing, ease and easy, getting along and cooperating, help, peace, and good health. Ace of Cups is ‘all benefit and no harm.’ Ace of Cups can translate ‘good,’ ‘better,’ and ‘best.’

The categories of meanings of Ace of Cups:

[NO HARM]

[FLOWS]

[LOVE, WHAT YOU LOVE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, LOVES YOU]

[GOOD]

[BEST]

[COMFORTABLE, RELAXING]

[EASY, EASIER]

[GET ALONG, COOPERATE]

[GOOD HEALTH]

[HELPS]

[PEACE]

Knight of Pentacles

Knight of Pentacles can be a bad-boy(a punk) in the company of, say, Seven of Swords and Ace of Wands, but not today in the company of Ace of Cups which removes harm.

Knight of Pentacles is a short stocky strong Type A dude, a man with muscles who is usually stubborn and/or driven. ‘One thing on his mind’ is his calling card, which can be determination, obsession, or his own self-interest.

Knight of Pentacles is a member of the Knowing clan of Tarot. This is a very very frequent translate for him. Just look at today’s: from thought; you know how; what is your own idea; you know that; he gets the idea; one thing he knows: how to; focus on; you know; he thinks of; once you focus on; he knows how to; to keep your mind on.

Like Page of Pentacles, he holds that coin in front of his face and stares at it, focuses on it. So, like Page of Pentacles, Knight of Pentacles will bring words like ‘watch,’ and ‘laid eyes on.’ ‘Focus’ and ‘concentrates’ belong to Knight of Pentacles. The way he stares brings this card applications about ‘first priority’ and determination, drive. The ‘first priority’ theme often translates as ‘the most.’ That goes along with all the times Knight of Pentacles means ‘for sure’ or ‘certain.’

Now Without The Pictures

You have heard me say that three cards whose meanings are not related make stories. Today, Magician is about a man taking action; Ace of Cups is about love, relaxing, cooperation, God, and ‘good’ – anything and everything good; Knight of Pentacles is a man focused on one thing, a strong man. Consider this as the main story, and the other meanings of these three Rider Waite Tarot cards make other stories. All these stories are good-news ones because of Ace of Cups’ influence.

An example of themes this spreads makes are ‘Do no harm, first of all,’ the medical doctors’ slogan from Hippocrates. Do what you love the most. Do good with good intentions.

Magician and Ace of Cups says ‘the easy way to get things done,’ ‘do a good deed,’ ‘make love’ and ‘getting started is the easy part.’ This pair also says things like these: Do things the best way; comfortable doing; do what it takes to get along; does love you; making good health; do the best thing; do the easy ones; start cooperating; do what you love; helps you do it; easier doing it, or the easy way to get it done; makes peace after doing that; takes initiative if he loves you; loves you and does something about it.

Magician and Knight of pentacles combine a focus or an intention with an act, to make sentiments like these: Do things you know how to do; do what your own idea is; actively focus; determined to do; of a mind to do something first; gets the idea to start; be sure to do the most; you watch him do it; you know how to get things done; focus on what you are doing; he knows how to take initiative.

Ace of Cups and Knight of Pentacles combine a stubborn fellow with cooperating, combine a rough guy with loving. This pair of cards today has donated these thoughts: No harm, first of all; what you love the most; looked at her and was in love; the best way you know how; you know what the easy part is; get along with the stubborn man; focus on relaxing; what makes him love you; focus on good health; gets the idea to cooperate; knows how to love; a strong man helps you; you know the easy way; he thinks of making peace; it flows once you focus; it helps to keep your mind on it; unconditional love as his first priority; the man with muscles loves you.

Like I said, Stories!

Synopsis

Being deliberate about *getting what you want more than anything* is very likely to succeed in getting that for you. Knowing what you want (knowing your priority) and keeping it in mind as you go about your business is easily overlooked, somehow, in day-to-day living. But if you don’t paddle your canoe, you could end up any old place downriver..

Knight of Pentacles

You see a sturdy short dark fellow on a sturdy dark pony who is stationary. The fellow is in armor, and he stares intently at his pentacle. Knight of Pentacles represents this tough type of person, and represents the focus on one thing, one idea – having one ambition or intention. The main thing, the most important thing, and a very physical fellow: Those are Knight of Pentacles’ main meanings.

Knight of Pentacles is also a mental card. It means ‘idea’ and ‘focus’ and a strong belief – being convinced and determined.

.

Nine of Cups

Simple, simple. Nine of Cups is about getting what you want, being satisfied, having enough, having plenty, having too much, being content and happy and pleased – the dream come true. Watch for it being about pleasing someone, too. You see a fellow with all those empty glasses on the table where he was sitting and you know he has had his fill, and is filled with that feeling (that after-feast feeling).

Mainly, Nine of Cups translates ‘want’ in all sorts of ways.

Nine of Cups is also wealth, money, moneymaking, profit.

Especially as a Self card in Celtic Cross spreads, Nine of Cups indicates that whatever is happening serves Querant. This card can point out that there’s an upside to a situation – a possibly overlooked upside.

Ace of Cups

This is a Roman Catholic card. The illustration diagrams the process of Holy Spirit infusing the consciousness and the senses of a person and channeling on out to the consciousness of others, including mass consciousness. So this is the card for ‘God.’ The illustration of the fountain is from Ste. Teresa d’Avila’s tome of spirituality, Interior Castles, considered by scholars as the premiere mystical book of Western culture. The dove (Holy Spirit) has the wafer of Eucharist in its beak and is diving into the five senses (those five streams flowing from the fountain. From there, the streams flow into the large body of water (mass consciousness).

Ace of Cups has a lot of applications and meanings. They all grow pretty directly from that illustration, though. First, Ace of Cups is love, true love, unconditional love – the main card for that.

Ace of Cups is going with the flow, accepting (and being accepted), relaxing, letting it be, being easygoing, mellow, peaceful, cooperating, being content with things as they are. It translates ‘easy’ in any context.

Ace of Cups is peace and quiet, is accepting things as they are, is being accepted. It specifically means ‘harmless’ and ‘all good, no harm.’

‘Good’ is a key word for Ace of Cups: good health, decent person, good life … it translates ‘good’ anything any old way. It means a decent, ethical, good person.

Now Without The Pictures

Nine of Cups and Ace of Cups groove together, and mean some of the same things. Nine of Cups is being satisfied, pleased, happy, and having what you want. Ace of Cups is at ease, content, comfortable, relaxed, in good shape, and loving it.

Nine of Cups and Ace of Cups combine getting what you want with love, good health, peace, relaxation, and cooperation – Ace of Cups’ meanings. Nine of Cups and Ace of Cups also famously say ‘I want to be loved’ and ‘I have the love I want,’ and other variations of those declarations.

Knight of Pentacles and Nine of Cups mean both ‘aim to get it all’ and ‘aim to please.’ Knight of Pentacles is ambition and Nine of Cups is fulfillment, too.

Knight of Pentacles and Ace of Cups are the tough guy in love, and are also a determination to be good, a focus on love or being loving. Together, Knight of Pentacles and Ace of Cups also describe a strong person in really good health, or good health being the number one priority.

So today you focus on what you want, and you get it easily. End of a good story.

Chariot – Knight of Pentacles – Ace of Cups

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… ….. ……  …, Both Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are focused ambitious men. Both have a lot of willpower, a lot of drive. Both are Type A.

Chariot is a senior ranking fellow, a project manager sort of guy. His focus is success, particularly success of the project he is responsible for, because he is in charge of something.

Knight of Pentacles is a hands-on energetic stubborn macho sort. His focus is his own personal getting ahead, and his own private interest, whatever that is. He is famous for ‘one thing on his mind.’

So today is about men who accomplish a purpose.

Ace of Cups’ various applications are what makes so many sentences today. (I culled 14 of them!) You will find Ace of Cups’ many today-meanings under Ace of Cups when you get to it. A short list – it means easy, relax, enjoy, cooperate, health and God. See?

Drive – that’s what we are about today, the kind of Type A drive that gets a person ahead: ambition, strategy, focus, energy. All this male energy – all this will-to-succeed – originates with both Mr. Knight of Pentacles and Mr. Chariot coming together in the same Tarot room.

Now, for the Tarot scholars in the crowd, I am going to compare and contrast these two similar strong-men cards. I have colored the background so ‘normal people’ aren’t bored to tears. They are now excused until the gray is gone.

Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are two very similar men, or one man who combines the traits common to both these Tarot cards: self-control and keeping your priority in mind. Both these cards are about aim, both are aggressive types, both are very able, and both are thinkers. Chariot is more the brains, and Knight of Pentacles is more the physical hands-on parts. Knight of Pentacles means things like: certain, sure thing, a certainty, and one thing is for sure. Chariot accomplishes his purpose for sure no matter what, and Knight of Pentacles gives it his best shot, goes all out. Chariot’s all about strategy and using obstacles as tools; Knight of Pentacles is all determination – the ‘no matter what’ principle. Knight of Pentacles is more of a peasant, and Chariot is more of a prince, quite often. Both these strong men are indispensable when it comes to getting that one vital thing accomplished no matter what.

Chariot and Knight of Pentacles are success-bound, driven, Type A men. Knight of Pentacles has one thing on his mind and has strength; Chariot is a masterful success, is in charge of a project, and is ambitious.

So the masterful, successful Type A driven boss who gets the project done pairs up with the ‘driven’ concept in Knight of Pentacles. Knight of Pentacles can be the young Chariot, or can be the ‘before’ with Chariot the accomplished ‘after.’

Note that, in your spreads, especially when these two (Knight of Pentacles and Chariot) appear in different sentences of the Tarot Verbatim™ Celtic Cross spread, they can represent a theme, and refer to the same person. Here in our three-card spread, they are different people.

Regarding the illustrations of Knight of Pentacles and Chariot: Knight of Pentacles stares at his money. Chariot is looking out at the terrain, the scene. Knight of Pentacles focuses on himself. His aim, his ambition, centers on his getting ahead. Chariot is captain of a team. You see him minding his steeds, getting the sphinxes (who are born to turn in one direction only, forever) to go straight, using his willpower, his magic wands, to accomplish this. Charioteers were a team, and were the main strategists in the wars of their day. Chariot is about executive skills.

Knight of Pentacles is driven, determined, ambitious, focused on a main interest, obsessed. He is macho, a tough guy, a very physical guy, is strong of body. He aims to get the job done; whereas Chariot has done the job and is in control of the situation. Knight of Pentacles’ illustration in the Rider Waite system shows the tough looking dude on a tough-looking horse, staring at this one thing he has in mind. His ambition is about himself, whereas Chariot’s is about accomplishing the project. (This, of course, is a generality, and doesn’t apply every darn time.)

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Chariot Chariot is one of those cluttered-up-with-meanings cards like Lovers, World, Six of Wands, Two of Cups, Seven of Cups, Judgment, Devil, Fool, and some others. Unless you know Mr. Chariot’s biography, you will not see his sprawling dictionary.

What makes Chariot mean ‘in charge of the project, and getting it done by using the factors that would sabotage it to further it instead’ is the fact he is a charioteer. Charioteers were the special forces – the storied war heroes – of olden times. Strategies of charioteers won or lost battles.

Note it’s sphinxes, and not horses, that are not hitched to his chariot, and he has a single wand to control these mythical creatures. Sphinxes go either left or right and no other way. He has the right-moving one to the left, and the left-moving one to the right, so that they end up going forward, or where he wants them to. This going forward can translate ‘getting ahead.’ Sphinxes are magical creatures (not nice ones, either), and he controls them with his magic wand. This is how he owns words and phrases that mean ‘mastery.’

Now you know why he is famous for strategy, for being responsible and in control, for being the project manager, the leader, the winner, and the guy who gets the job done – the leader in the field. Chariot means to succeed; it means victory. It means ‘to handle’ and ‘can handle’ as well as ‘can handle anything.’ Chariot is a highly skilled self-made man. Chariot is goal oriented, not self-promoting.

Chariot not only acts, he decides. He chooses. His choice. These words are all his. He owns ‘success’ and is known for his will to succeed at all costs. Could be ruthless.

The sphinxes – one predominantly white and the other predominantly black – in the illustration represent the occult idea that you need both kinds of magic skills, the black and the white, to get ahead. This idea is standard in most writing about magic.

Chariot is a vehicle, of course, so it represents any kind of vehicle at all, not just ground transportation.

Think of Chariot as you accomplishing what is most important to you, using whatever factors exist in the project to further it, whether they are favorable or not. Chariot is that kind of determination.

Knight of Pentacles      Knight of Pentacles is the stubborn physical yeoman with one idea in his head, one ambition, whether he’s single-minded or obsessive about that one thing.  He represents focus, even obsession. This is the short dark fella who is strong of body and opinionated with ideas that work for him in his environment, and you had best not rock his opinionated boat.  In the illustration, his horse is just like him:  short, sturdy, and dark. A manly man – a man’s man, even. A good man to know. A stereotype fairly often.

He often has muscles … and can even be muscle. He may be the punk, ruffian, bad-boy, especially in the company of, say, Seven of Swords and Five of Swords, and a few others.

Knight of Pentacles is healthy, has a LOT of energy, is often brawny, is outdoorsy, is macho in one way or another. More often than not, the individual Knight of Pentacles represents in your spread is short and stocky. He also seems to have dark hair – and Tarot Verbatim™ ignores hair and skin color, to represent personality.

This ‘one idea’ theme is also, of course, about priority. Number One. Knight of Pentacles is very self-centered, self-promoting, and often concerned about being Number One himself (the herd bull).

That ‘one idea’ extends to his being tenacious, persistent. He is no quitter, a bulldog. Like Chariot, he is indispensable when it comes to getting one thing done no matter what. Those two (Chariot and Knight of Pentacles) are twins when it comes to that.

The ‘one idea,’ and the fact Mr. Knight of Pentacles is sure of himself, may translate ‘certain,’ ‘certainly,’ ‘make sure,’ and one thing is sure.’

The ‘one idea,’ in romance, means he is interested in one love partner. He is a ‘one-woman man.’

Like the other cards that show a male staring intently at his pentacle, Knight of Pentacles means to keep an eye on, stare, concentrate on, look, watch, and similar phrases.

Ace of Cups      What’s a nice card like you doing in company like this? Ace of Cups’ trunk meanings are love, true love, unconditional love, being lovable, cooperate, agree, good (good anything – the word good), health, feeling good, warm-fuzzy emotions, relax, unwinding socially, easy and ease, calm, healing, permitting or letting (as in letting it be), peace, unity, innocent, spiritual, God, acceptance and being accepted, serendipity, affection and affectionate, benefit and no harm, harmless, the spiritual plane or zone or level. Probably a few more I haven’t thought to include.

How Ace of Cups means these things is found in the very Roman Catholic illustration. The idea is the presence of God channeling through a godly person into human mass consciousness (or ‘out into the world’) through Holy Communion. The dove and the wafer, of course are Holy Communion. The fountain’s five flows represent the human’s five senses or ‘bodily humors’ (Middle Ages). This part of its illustration makes Ace of Cups mean any kind of liquid flow or leak, including internal and medical ones, and even toxic leaks from a pipe. The big lake with the water lilies represents mass consciousness. You could say Ace of Cups is more spiritual than religious, in spite of its religious origin.

And here’s today’s Ace of Cups phrases and words that I promised: enjoy it; I love it!; get along with; flexible; to help; girls, females; leaks; calms down; good; go smoothly; gentle; relaxed; lovable; mellow out; goodwill; other people loving me; easy or with ease; health; godly; spiritual; the love of God; God’s way; God’s help; true love; love life.

.

.

.

.

.

We are driven to be lovable; we are focusing willpower and determination and all our manly energy onto being warm and fuzzy. We are ambitious to mellow out. We are forcing ourselves to be agreeable, and making ourselves cooperate. We put all our energy into relaxing. A macho man focuses on unwinding.

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Knight of Pentacles – Ace of Cups – Six of Cups

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………     Ace of Cups and Six of Cups are the warmest warm-fuzzies in Rider Waite. True love and romantic love. Unconditional love for children. Unconditional love for Lover. Even the love of a nostalgic home, or the childhood sweetheart. The love of the past – maybe, with Knight of Pentacles – in an obsessive, or very deliberate, or focused way. The underlying message is that a rough guy can be very sentimental.

………………………..        Knight of Pentacles, as you can see from his photo ID there, has his testosterone up to date: He, and his horse, are built for action – very sturdy, compact, rugged, energetic. Focused on his goal, concentrating on his interest, one thing on his mind, and sure of himself too: These are what Knight of Pentacles is famous for. In the wrong Tarot company, this guy can be a ruffian, a punk, but not today. Today he is all about love, with Ace and Six of Cups there.

………………………..     Ace of Cups‘ illustration bears explanation. The dove represents Holy Spirit, the body of water is human mass consciousness, the five streams are the medieval idea of ‘five humors,’ or body fluids – the fount or bowl there is from Interior Castle by Ste. Teresa d’Avila, a major Catholic saint’s book, about a bowl that was always full, representing God’s love – and the ‘W’ is another Roman Catholic symbol. So the human is channeling Holy Spirit into mass consciousness of his fellows. This is one of the cards that was put in the deck in medieval times. So Ace of Cups can mean God, God’s love, God’s presence, etc.

In your spread, Ace of Cups is love, unconditional love, true love, divine love, ‘the real thing’ love, and sometimes the one you love, especially the woman because Ace of Cups refers to things female at times.

We are not using most of its meanings here. It means ‘flow,’ any sort of flow including ‘going with the flow.’ It means cooperation, innocence, peace, being accepted, being good, good health, mellow feeling, innocent (not guilty in criminal inquiries, therefore), agree, being good, warm fuzzy, and relaxed.

………………………..      Six of Cups    The warm-fuzzy cards are drawn in pastels with curving lines. Six of Cups looks sweet, and depicts Little Boy giving Little Girl flowers in front of a large old building. They are both warmly dressed. Six of Cups is another love card – applies most often to romantic love and the love of children. It also applies to the love of home or house, a safe neighborhood, nostalgia which is loving the past, and past loves or past memories (usually good ones) and gifts, often love gifts. This Tarot card comes up for birthday and anniversary gifts. (Put it next to Ace of Pentacles, and it can be a fellow giving a gal the ring.) Six of Cups means innocent (including in legal questions). Old friends is a Six of Cups matter, and a person with a soft side, a little-kid charm, boyish.

Six of Cups  also evokes phrases that refer to the past like: back then, the good old days, the way we were, I used to, back when, etc.

……….…………..      Knight of Pentacles and Ace of Cups Here we have the rugged all-man and warm and fuzzy love. Awww. He is such a guy and he is giving her flowers. She loves a rough guy. Ace of Cups means ‘easy’ in any form, so an easygoing dude with muscles. Love is his priority. Since Ace of Cups is God, and Knight of Pentacles is strong belief, well, his faith in God is strong. Since Ace of Cups is also health, well, he is one healthy guy, and his health is very important to him. Ace of Cups is relaxing, so the touch guy is relaxing. Ace of Cups is cooperation, so the man who has a very direct manner gets cooperation.

………..…………..       Knight of Pentacles and Six of Cups     Knight of Pentacles is the strong and tough focused fellow, and Six of Cups is children, romance, cozy home, good neighborhood, childhood, memories of the sweet past, being like a kid, and past times (good old days, back when, old-fashioned, etc.). So these two Tarot cards together say things like: an old-fashioned dude with muscles, his kids come first, he is like a kid, his childhood, he is convince the old house is (whatever), a manly man and his old friend, and he has romance on his mind.

……………………     Ace of Cups and Six of Cups     Here we have the two warmest fuzziest cards in the Rider Waite deck. Ace of Cups is true love, and Six of Cups is romance. Ace of Cups is love, and Six of Cups is children. Ace of Cups is the good life, the mellow and easy times, and Six of Cups is the sweet life, the beautiful memories of the past, and old friends. Ace of Cups is love, and Six of Cups is giving you things, a love gift.

.

What romance could be better than a strong masculine man who is devoted and loving to his family, focused on the good life for his kids? We picture that here, from the perspective of the man.

.

Knight of Pentacles  ………    Knight of Pentacles is all man. He’s a guy, no pretense. Rugged, often short and dark, with muscles is his stereotype. He is driven … ‘one thing on his mind’ is his flagship phrase. He is certain of what he knows, whatever it is: stubborn and opinionated, as a rule. Even pigheaded. Therefore, he comes in as the dependable dedicated worker, devoted lover and friend.

The ‘one thing on his mind,’ or the thing that he is sure of, often comes from surrounding cards. When he is surrounded by love, he is the devoted lover. When he is surrounded by cards of taking advantage of or abusing people, or criminality, well, he is a thug, a ruffian, a punk. The ‘one thing on his mind’ can also be self-interest – the sort who is ‘out for himself’ or ‘looking out for Number One.’

.

Ace of Cups   ………….    Well, here comes God, love, good health, going with the flow, easy times, cooperation, agreeing, and all things mellow. It’s all good with Ace of Cups. ‘All good and no harm’ is one of its phrases. It means innocent too, of course.

The explanation of its illustration is already written today. It’s under ‘Learn Tarot by Observing.’

.

Six of Cups   ……….     Six of Cups’ illustration is so kitsch – soft, curving lines and rich pastels, with the little boy giving the little girl flowers … it could be a greeting card. As you can see, Six of Cups is about love, romance, gifts and gifts to a loved one, children, safe place to live, children and the love of children, childhood. It represents innocence. It is about a cozy or quaint house, home, childhood home, safe neighborhood. Nostalgia is Six of Cups’ emotional tone … the part of the past you love, first love, old memories.

Six of Cups also describes a childlike, girlish or boyish, adult, and a person with a soft side.

Our Daily Spread for Feb. 22, 2011

Page of Pentacles Knight of Pentacles, Queen of Wands, Ace of Cups

Romantic Perspective: He is in love, he aims for her to be his wife. He has eyes only for her, he thinks of her as the wife he loves. One thing he is sure of:  he loves his wife and thinks of her. She knows he is in love with only her. He knows his love for his wife is obsessive. She is in love, thinks of herself as his wife, focuses on that mainly. She knows he thinks only of her, they are in love. She knows he thinks of her as his wife, it’s true love. Both she and he are mainly interested in God. He looks to his wife for approval:  This is important to him. She loves the rough dude and considers herself his wife. Macho man loves his wife who runs their affairs and house:  He knows who he is. He accepts his wife’s main focus on things, loves her for it. Business Perspective: He is mindful to cooperate with the manager, with her thoughts. His ambition is to get the manager’s approval of himself. The profile they have of her is:  She is competent and cooperative. She is a skilled manager who gets macho men to cooperate for their own purposes. He aims to go along with her thoughts, she is in charge of that. A woman with one mission:  that the idea be accepted … even loved. She gets people to accept the goal and make it their own. She is accepted as a manager by manly men because they agree with her. Her ideas are beneficial enough to be the main focus. She is seen a cooperative by the man on a mission. The guys love her for her ability to get ideas approved. The competent woman is seen as no threat by ambitious men. She has the same idea as the guys:  They agree. Both the male pentacle Tarot cards mean ‘to focus upon’ but of course nuances in these similar cards create interesting distinctions.  The Knight of Pentacles is a muscled man, potentially obsessive (The card can even mean ‘obsess’ or ‘obsessive.’) – ‘one thing on his mind.’  He can be rough or a ruffian, or a macho man who thinks he is rough.  He stands for being focused and ambitious, for focus and ambition.  Then the Page of Pentacles stands for considering an idea, for one’s identity (knowing who he is), and therefore often for the word ‘he.’ So, we ask ourselves:  What is being focused upon here?  Well, the middle cards mainly mean: (1) Queen of Wands, wife or manager, the woman in charge of the house or the workplace and (2) love, in love, true love, cooperation, agreement, being harmless and beneficial.  Knowing these meanings, you can easily reconstruct the sentences above and see which phrase arises from which card.  Remember that more than one meaning can be used in the same spread for a card. So, advice today in this spread is: A woman’s ability to identify a goal and get men or a man to see that goal as his/their own is beneficial (everybody cooperates) to everybody, which makes her accepted by the guy(s) as no threat and as someone they are/he is fond of.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Knight of Pentacles: The illustration shows a short dude with muscles on a horse of the same nature, intently focused on this one thing – a thing that gets him ahead.  Its meanings arise directly from the illustration.  See the remarks above in the first paragraph of the summary about the meanings:  Why repeat them here? Queen of Wands: Here is an illustration of a sensible woman who runs a tight ship and minds her own business, a manager of whatever she surveys.  She is the main Wife card in Rider Waite Tarot.  She is competent and no-nonsense. Ace of Cups: The philosophical idea in Rider Waite’s version of this card is that one’s being infused with the presence of Divinity creates one’s own good and also creates serendipity, creates a healthful blessed environment.  The five streams of water represent five body fluids that flow freely when one is aligned with Divine order or Divine will.  Of course, the mundane application of this philosophical idea is:  Once again, see the meanings mentioned in the second summary paragraph above. Page of Pentacles: A young man intently focuses on one thing.  He is an apprentice who is learning something.  This ‘something’ is associated with who he is.  This Rider Waite Tarot card is associated with identity.  It often stands for ‘the idea that.’

Rider Waite Tarot-2-22-11b

Working on his own fears of outside influences, and making fast progress

Nine of Wands Knight of Wands, Two of Cups, Eight of Pentacles

Business and Other Perspectives: He is afraid what he is doing is running into a situation in which he will fall under the influence of something that he is not really aware of. This job will get him into something he dreads, that will engross him, yet he pursues the job. Working on his own addictions and hidden assumptions makes him nervous, but will get him ahead. He is, blow by blow, rushing into the unknown where angels fear to tread. Working on his own fears of outside influences, and making fast progress. He flees working on his own fears of otherworldly influences. He has been hurt by getting involved, and here he goes, pellmell, into it one more time. Associating himself with these people who have an unknown agenda gives him the heebie-jeebies, so he is once more fleeing that. Unidentified fears haunt him, and he gets away from this through his work. The job he is pursuing is out of his field, which makes him uneasy. Pursues that job in spite of misgivings about associating with Those People. Free floating vague guilt overshadows him as he goes about his business. ‘Something is up’ at work that gets on his nerves.  He gets out of there as fast as he can. His fast progress at work makes him unsure about what is involved. Afraid he keeps ‘getting used’ but is still ‘at it.’ Misgivings about using sex to get ahead at work. Romance Perspectives: The sexual attraction impels him to pursue but he is afraid to do that again. He keeps pursuing hookups but feels guilty. His pursuit of sex workers (prostitutes) is an addiction that makes him uneasy. Pursuing a sexual affair at work makes him apprehensive. Afraid of a grand sexual love affair, he keeps pursuing it anyway. He was pursuing a hot love affair but it got to him and now he is afraid to continue. Now that the love affair is work, he is not so sure about going so fast. Afraid he keeps ‘getting used’ but is still ‘at it.’ Misgivings about using sex to get ahead at work. Note that we didn’t get messages from a man’s perspective until we had some men’s comments on this blog.  I theorize that people who comment attract more advice than those who don’t, in our experiment.  Since Tarot taps into mass consciousness, and since people who comment are probably thinking more about the messages than others, it makes sense that those commenters would attract more attention. This spread is from a male perspective. The pivotal card-character in this quatrain is Two of Cups.  Two of Cups: very complex concepts.  I will be brief but could write a pamphlet on this one Rider Waite Tarot card.  Being connected to someone or something and not knowing what you are getting involved in; being ‘under the influence’ as in love or addictions.  Strong sexual attraction, as well as sexual seduction, as well as using sex to get control of the partner or to get ahead. So, the cards surrounding the Two of Cups are:

  1. The Knight of Wands: to pursue, to be in a hurry or rush, or rush into something, ‘full speed ahead,’ as well as ‘to get out fast’ or to get away fast.  So it is either to flee or to pursue, depending on the surrounding cards.  (As I have said, I do not assign meanings to cards, and would not put an opposite meaning on one Tarot individual, but I discovered Tarot’s meanings for Tarot through an exhaustive process described elsewhere.)
  2. The Eight of Pentacles, which is about work and keeping at it and doing the same thing over and over.
  3. The Nine of Wands, which is about misgivings, bad feeling about something, a feeling of guilt, apprehension, uneasiness and so on.  Having been hurt before is expressed by the bandaged head wound.

Today’s advice in this spread is that, especially if you are a guy, there is a factor you may not be aware of, that you have an uneasy feeling about, that influences whether you should keep pursuing something.  The spread describes both the consistent pursuit and the persistent ‘bad feeling’ or misgiving.  If you are a female, this information may apply to a male around you.

Meaning and Illustrations:

Knight of Wands: Illustration:  See him run, he is in a big hurry.  For the meanings, see the first paragraph above. Two of Cups: The caduceus indicates activity is influenced from another plane or from unknown source(s).  It indicates perchance a con artist, seduction, a controlling idea that may be misguided, or an addiction – that sort of thing.  The illustration shows a couple ‘pledging their troth,’ or committing to one another.  This Rider Waite Tarot card assumes one of them is less than sincere.  The best single slogan I can think for this card is ‘getting sucked into’ something or ‘hidden influence,’ even propaganda influences. Eight of Pentacles: ‘Working on it’ is a good slogan for this Rider Waite Tarot card.  The illustration shows a carpenter making one identical product after another.  Keeping at it, being consistent, doing the same thing over and over. Nine of Wands: In Paragraph (3) above, I said it all.

Rider Waite Tarot-2-22-11c

It’s anything but fair that bitches get the good men

Seven of Cups King of Cups, Justice, Queen of Swords

Romance and Legal/Divorce Perspectives: She has all kinds of complaints about him but he is a good man who is right for her. Things are a mess, she isn’t getting the good man she is entitled to. She isn’t getting the good man who is right for her.  This is confusing. To her shock and surprise, when she expects him to the Mr. Right, he is. He is a good man, he is doing the right things, and she is dissatisfied in every possible way. Anything can happen now in the good-guy’s court action with The Bitch/ex-wife. He is such a good man, he is entitled to anything but this nasty nag. He is such a ‘nice guy’ and that fuels her entitlement, her out-of-control expectations of him. It’s anything but fair that bitches get the good men. She is right about how crazy the guy is who victimized her, and he’s ‘such a nice guy.’ She is mad because his drinking is out of control and it isn’t fair to her. She is not getting anything she should from him – the weakling! He is mild-mannered and sane; she is a raving bitch. This is a strong woman who expects him to be straight and sane or all hell will break loose. Legal Perspectives: The verdict/legal decision is amazing:  She doesn’t get what she demands; he is the good-guy. The verdict shocks her, she doesn’t get what she demands of the reasonable gentleman. He is the ‘good guy’ in court; her demands are outrageous. Anything can happen in the gentleman’s lawsuit with the demanding wench. She is the plaintiff in an outrageous lawsuit with the bureaucracy/agency. She is right about how crazy the guy is who victimized her, and he’s ‘such a nice guy.’ She demands her rights; it is a shock to the government. The Department of Justice makes a mess of her life, poor woman. The Justice card rules here.  It shares the ‘entitlement’ concept with the Queen of Swords, who isn’t getting what she is entitled to.  The King of Cups is the good or nice guy, the alcoholic or weak man, the emotional man, the sweetheart, the government, bureaucrat or agency (never a police or enforcement agency unless it’s, say, the Building and Zoning inspectors).  Lastly, the Seven of Cups is out of control, bizarre, ‘all kinds of’ or ‘disparate.’  It is a mess. The way this four-card Tarot spread comes together focuses a lot on a woman being cheated out of what she is entitled to, or being unreasonable with the good man.  The Seven of Cups indicates some quirkiness to the story. And, of course, we have to deal with the King of Cups being an agency or government as well as the drunk, the good guy, the affectionate man, etc., along with the Justice card  meaning any kind of court action.  Then, the Queen of Swords is the ‘demanding woman/nag/bitch’ card, which calls up ‘ex-wife’ next to the Justice card.  The Queen of Swords as the victim in conjunction with the government and Justice is another cluster.  These varieties of meanings contribute many different stories. As I have pointed out previously:  The reason we get these myriad of narratives from four Tarot cards is that we operate here in the blog without a ‘real’ question.  The question forms a large part of an answer:  It limits the answer.  If your question were about romance, all the other spreads would be eliminated; and if were about court action, the romance ones would not count, unless it were a divorce you asked about.  Here, all I ask for a question is:  Tell the people who visit something useful to them at the time they visit.  I suspect people who read past spreads, especially first-time visitors, will find meaning.

Meanings and Illustrations:

King of Cups: His meanings are covered in the paragraphs above this.  The illustration is of a man ‘awash’ in something, emotional, emotionally unstable – which is expressed in the fact his stone slab is floating or surrounded by water that has waves.  Being drunk or alcoholic is suggested not only by those meanings, but add the cup in his right hand and the blank look on his face:  either drunk or a powerful government dork. Justice: Meanings are covered above.  The illustration shows ‘law enforcement’ via both the scales of justice and the sword in the hands of the elaborately robed upright figure.  Besides the obvious, this Rider Waite Tarot card means ‘should’ and ‘entitled.’ Queen of Swords: Here’s the widow, the lady who doesn’t get what she feels or is entitled to, and the kvetching wench.  Also known as the strong woman, the woman who feels someone or some situation isn’t up to her standards.  She can be the Queen of Mean.  The illustration shows ‘that look’ on her face:  lips set in a straight line, and her left hand extended in a ‘now would be good’ gesture while it is her right hand with the knife in it.  Ach-tung! Seven of Cups: This is Pandora’s Box or Sorcerer’s Apprentice situation.  The magician has lost control of the operation, by golly, and there’s no putting the critters back in the bottle.  The cloud helps with the ‘confusion’ meaning.  The motley group of items expresses the ‘mess’ and ‘all hell breaks loose’ meanings.  Other phrases for this Rider Waite Tarot card are:  shock and surprise, in every possible way, anything can happen, anything but, how crazy, amazing, outrageous, raving, and so on.

OTHER TWO CARD MEANINGS
