Lovers A motley card, this is. You got the sun, the angel with the funky hair, Adam and Eve with the two trees in Eden, and a volcano. Today it’s love, lovers, a connection, being together, being in the same place, and that’s it.

Knight of Swords See Dick run. The wind whips his cloak and the helmet’s plumes as his horse leaps headlong and he leans over its neck (out of proportion drawing, here) with blade extended upraised. He whizzes by, he hurries, he pursues or flees or turns around and switches direction (see nearby cards for which), and he means second-time things like ‘re-‘ and ‘having a second’ and ‘yet another’ and ‘going back to a prior.’

Page of Pentacles is one of those thinking, considering, pondering, ruminating Tarot cards. LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Two (arguably, three) of our Tarot visitors in today’s spread involve movement.  Chariot’s steeds are parked, but a chariot is a moving thing, you know?   Knight of Swords is hurtling forward, and Seven of Wands is in a fight.

 

Three of the Rider Waite Tarot cards are male.  Knight of Swords, Seven of Wands, and Chariot.  Lovers is a couple of course.

 

Knight of Swords is in hot pursuit (but could be fleeing, could be turning around and going back – depends on his context) and Seven of Wands is defending his turf against intruders (or could be about the ones who are invading).  Both of these involve a sudden unexpected impetus to their actions.  You can see how, with both of these having reversible meanings, we could run into a contradiction or two, since we operate here without a question.

 

In the presence of Chariot with its theme of Will, Seven of Wands can be pushing himself. 

 

Chariot’s contribution to the theme established by these other two is to get ahead, to manage a situation or project, to strategize, to decide, and to accomplish his purpose or ambition.

 

Then up pops Lovers.  It can mean a number of things besides its title. Connection, contact, associate, team mate, partner(s), higher-ups, to be in love, and love itself.  The angel and its theme of (divine) protection is dormant today.

 

With Knight of Wands meaning a change of directions, and Chariot meaning a decision, naturally some of the sentences will bump into one another and contradict.

Lovers has disparate meanings held together only by its illustration: Connection, contact, associate, team mate, partner(s), higher-ups, to be in love, and love itself.  The angel with its theme of (divine) protection is dormant today.  Adam and Even stand next to their respective trees, overseen by the angel.

 

Knight of Swords is in hot pursuit hurtling forward (but could be fleeing, could be turning around and going back – depends on his context). He is about suddenly sprinting into action due to something unexpected. He can also be about a reversal, and about reversing direction or changing.

 

Seven of Wands is defending his turf against intruders (or could be about the ones who are invading).  Sudden unexpected actions of others arouse him, or he could be pushing himself.

 

Chariot’s theme is Will to get ahead, to manage a situation or project, to strategize, to decide, and to accomplish his purpose or ambition. Chariot is success through intelligent action.  The illustration is about the skill to get others who have a will of their own to do what furthers your achievement.

Each Tarot sentence is a literal-interpretation reading of the scenes pictured on thefour cards you see. Only what each of the cards says – phrase by phrase – no fillers – no psychic ability used. The readings are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. Tarot, all by itself, talks to you. This is a demonstration of that .

Tarot will address any group flexibly, as it does here of ‘all the visitors.’ (It can address ’all the people at work who have a say in my raise,’for instance, without you knowing who or where those people are.)

Horoscopes are group readings too.

Astrology has to be based on someone else’s birth data, though, so it does not solidly apply to you just because of where the sun was when you were born. (Astrologers know this.)

Emily wants to know whether these sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than for people who have come only a few times. Would you help with a comment, if that is who you are? Please?

Without a questionto focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no, never or not.’ That negative modifier can apply to any one of the cards.

Without a questionalso the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel veryfree to substitute. Notice how, as much as possible, we drop pronouns, which makes for some awkward phrasing.

The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! In a ‘real’ reading, the parties are identified (including the gender of the questioner!), and so is the time frame if there is one. In this group reading, we cannot do that, so we have variety.

HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.

The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.

Right off the bat, two of these four Rider Waite Tarot cards mean pretty much the same thing – intimate partners or close associates or a couple, even an angel:

(1) Lovers means the obvious ‘lovers,’ it means partners, being affiliated or being associates, a connection or contact, being on (someone’s) side – and can refer to protection. contacting and being in contact. Illustration shows a human pair with a guardian angel and the sun over them, and a volcano and the Garden of Eden snake in the fruit tree by the woman.

(2) Temperance shows an angel pouring liquid from one cup to another, and it means intimate partners, a couple, a close relationship, intimacy, association with or ‘being on the side of,’ direct dealing (hand to hand, say), reciprocal or reciprocate, a transaction or deal, and to transact that deal. It also means healing and an angel literally.

Next, both Temperance and Knight of Swords involve back and forth, in different ways. Temperance is a back-and-forth reciprocal deal, and Knight of Swords would mean ‘to get back with,’ to go back to or come back to, as well as to go back and forth.

The Knight of Swords shows pursuit in the heat of battle. It could be the cop on your tail on the highway. It means to run away in a hurry too, as well as to go back and forth. (I don’t make up Rider Waite Tarot’s verbatim meanings, just observe them and report on them.) The knight in question is in full armor, his clothes flying, his horse in full flight, his sword brandished, a fierce expression on his face. Phrases such as ‘get out while you can’ and ‘running back there’ and ‘returning,’ as well as putting a ‘re-‘ in front of any given term and ‘could go either way.’

Seven of Pentacles, the first Tarot citizen in our spread, is a ‘duh’ card (my classification!) Its main meaning is doubt about the outcome, or to ponder and puzzle over something. The grower is wondering whether he will get fruit from his cucumber plants, because both genders of plant are necessary for fruiting. (I always wonder if one shoe is supposed to be totally muddy and the other not, or whether the artist just ran out of a color, or whether there’s supposed to be some meaning in his shoes not matching.)

Phrases for this Seven of Pentacles person are such things as ‘not making up his mind,’  maybe, I think, and any language expressing doubt, such as ‘Is that what this may be?’  ‘we suppose,’ ‘what if,’ and ‘seems.’ Seven of Pentacles can also instruct you to put its sentence into question form, which we have done here in some of his.

 

 

Advice is to ponder your connections – connections of all kinds – as to whether to pursue or leave them. Who is this you are partnering with, and what is the nature of the interaction? Notice we do not speak of bad motives or any deceit here; we speak instead of connecting itself when the transaction is mutual. “Is this where I want to be going, or should I retrace and go back?” “Is this what I want to pursue, and am I reciprocating with my contact?”

 

TAROT ANALYSIS

Romantic Perspective:

He goes back and forth between two love relationships, not making up his mind.

Duh, this is such a close relationship, I better get out while I can.

Maybe I could go back and contact my partner one-on-one.

I think I am running back there because we had such a close connection.

I think the intimacy is returning between us.

Reconnecting with an intimate partner: Is that what this may be?

Are they a couple or are they leaving one another?

Some doubt about whether it’s love but I’m going back to be intimate again.

It could be the return of intimacy between the lovers.

Looks like you are getting back in contact with one another.

Business Perspective:

The partner who left may be going back to his/her other association.

Will he renege on the deal we made with one another?

Seems to be in a hurry to get back on my side in the deal.

Is the deal on between the two of those parties again?

I suspect we would not be protected (covered by insurance?) in that transaction.

The question is whether to go back to dealing directly in this connection.

Our direct contact seems to be on-again, off-again.

Associating myself with that side and being on (your) side again … I think.

Dashing off from having a connection to a questionable associate.

The partner I thought I had a deal with is no longer affiliated.

This transaction could go either way for the two of them.

What if the partnership withdrew from the deal?

We suppose the partnership will reciprocate, or we will be out of the deal.
