Both are insecure, psychologically. King of Pentacles King of Pentacles is powerful and/or influential, and is a studly dude. So his prowess is usually money, influence, and sex appeal. Four of Pentacles lessens that, and Page of Cups casts doubt in various ways upon these. So we have stories today.
King of Pentacles can be the flamboyant blowhard. Think, say, Liberace or Mohamed Ali. King of Pentacles is usually Somebody in whatever his setting is (unless other cards put him into a low class status). But King of Pentacles can be a fellow who is covering up a feeling of inferiority (Four of Pentacles) by bravado. He often stands for a sexy guy, a guy with sex appeal. (“I’m too sexy for my shirt.”)
King of Pentacles is the finance man, the money man, and can be rich, or seen as rich by others. He will come up for a banker or bankster, or for a politician, or for a mobster. He is the mover and shaker type, and can be very full of himself.
Four of Pentacles Four of Pentacles is about repressing feelings, feeling inferior, deep-seated beliefs or deep-down feelings. Most of Four of Pentacles’ meanings are about some shortage, some lack. Lack of money, lack of confidence, lack of being sociable. Put it next to any other card, and that is what that card lacks or is repressing – usually.
Today it puts a damper on King of Pentacles’ magnanimous VIP image. Today it can describe a well-off influential man who is short of money, or a boss who is not feeling in charge. Today suggests a damper on one’s sexuality, too.
Page of Cups Page of Cups questions. Page of Cups doubts. Page of Cups isn’t so sure, and isn’t sure of him- or her- self. Page of Cups is a goofball, carrying a fish around in a cup and wearing a girl’s getup. So it can mean not dressed properly for the occasion. Often Page of Cups translates ‘I don’t know’ or ‘it seems as if.’ Today Page of Cups is the lead card, the star card that the others relate to more than they relate to themselves.
