Page of Pentacles – Page of Pentacles here has a fraternal Tarot twin: Page of Wands. Pages are apprentice knights, so they are young novices who aim to fit into their environment and please the people who are engaged in making knights of them. So Three of Pentacles – doing your part, and engaging in a social commercial exchange – is a card you would expect this Page to combine with.

Page of Pentacles has few and well-defined meanings, which makes him a good anchor card (a card you look to early to determine what the spread is all about). His main meanings are (1) about thinking, feeling, knowing, seeing – also expressed as opinion and idea. (2), Page of Pentacles is an identity card, which brings in simple pronoun meanings. Three of Pentacles is all the elements of the story of these people’s meeting, but it isn’t limited to commercial endeavors; it is the main relationship Tarot card, and ‘relationship’ is its default translation. Three of Pentacles often refers to profit, payoff, making money, buying, selling, the market, success together, making a go of it, a deal, dealing, and team. People getting together to get something done are a team.
Hanged Man – Here’s one of those Rider Waite Tarot cards from the think/feel/see/understand Tarot tribe. Hanged Man’s specialty in his tribe is ‘get it’ or ‘capiche.’ And Hanged Man also specializes in paranormal brainwork. This is the card for anything psychic, for envisioning and foreseeing and hunches – anything from a major enlightenment or big vision to that flash of hindsight that makes us say ‘I always knew that’ when some fact about what’s going on around us lights up our head. Hanged Man is mindreading, telepathy, clairvoyance, and ‘a little birdie told me.’

And you can see in the picture the head lighting up. And the upside-down feeling you get when your perception is instantly rearranged by a disruptive newcomer splashing into your personal data bank. That’s an intense feeling, and Hanged Man often means ‘intense’ or ‘intense feeling.’

But our otherworldly guy hanging from the tree there also has the very common meanings like: feeling, inspire, thrilled, turned on, urge, picturing, the minute you see it, a brilliant idea, the subconscious, subconscious idea or inspiration, realize and recognize. Uh, I forgot to tell you ‘realize’ is Hanged Man’s favorite word.

This illustration is of course what brings all these meanings together for Hanged Man. A number of myths the world around involve the main character hanging himself on a tree for three days to get ‘wisdom’ from the god. Ten of Cups is the happily-ever-ever marital relationship, or any group of people with an emphasis on personal relationships more than commercial ones – family, relatives, social circles, social organizations, and then on to the various levels of community and any group a person would feel ‘my people’ about. Three of Pentacles is getting together and settling up, a relationship, a deal or contract, real estate, doing your role, being fair and square and coming to agreement or having a ‘meeting of minds.’ It means ‘doing (our) part in a relationship’ so often it’s trite to say it. Ten of Cups and Three of Pentacles Both of these are prosperity indicators. Ten of Cups is the prosperous people (in the good home) and Three of Pentacles is profitable business being done.

Page of Pentacles is ‘who I am’ or image – identity or identifies with. It is also to be of a mind: thinking, feeling, opinion, concept, considers. This can be a woman as well as a man, usually young.
Two of Pentacles A juggler in a silly costume keeps the plates moving. They are connected by the mathematical symbol that means ‘on and on repeatedly’ like a repeating fraction. The juggler refers to cycles, things silly or goofy, a continuing motion whether oscillation or back and forth. The tossing waves and bobbing boats signify upheaval.
Ten of Cups The respectable family celebrates its happy prosperity. Married with (the ideal number of) children, suburban life at its best. Ten of Cups is the moral majority community, beginning with the couple and extending at least to national borders. In other words, it’s the neighborhood, city, county, state, region and nation. So those three cards show ‘dealing with’ in the middle and the devil on the left and God on the right. How about that?
Above it all we have a person’s thoughts, one’s image or self-image, thinking about it – Page of Pentacles, a Tarot card that often translates ‘he’ or ‘thinks.’ It means personal or personally, too.
Clearly, our message is to look at who you are dealing with and what role you are acting in your movies: Is it a good thing or a bad thing? And are we in good health, or are we sick? Are these the right people to deal with, or the wrong ones? We speak of people who have a bad problem, addiction being one, who meet with one another to heal and the ‘heal’ card also means God, which suggests AA.
Moon is called ‘the worst card in the deck.’ It does have a few good meanings, and a few not-so-bad ones, but it mostly means things like demons, chaos, delusion, the bad guys, the worst situation or people, pollution, big mistake, crime and criminals, hideous, impossible, addictions, sickness, wrong, and a swamp or polluted water. And how does it inherit this terrible rep? It represents ‘the Left-hand Path,’ which is esoteric for the road to hell. The two towers there are part of a story in which they are evil; the lobster, purple, is going on a land journey; a coyote and a dog, enemies, are hanging out together, and of course there’s some howling at the moon going on.
Three of Pentacles Pictured is a business relationship being closed: A contractor or architect meets with his clients, demonstrating with the blueprint that he has done his job, and is entitled to the closing payment, the largest in the contract. So Three of Pentacles means dealing with, associating with, exchanging, doing business with, having a relationship with, and a meeting.
Ace of Cups This illustration is not one of the clear and obvious ones. Catholic symbolism abounds here: the dove for Holy Spirit, the water (of communion), the fountain analogy that was once famous from Ste. Teresa d’Avila’s Interior Castle, and even the five little streams which represent the five bodily ‘humors’ or fluids, or today would represent the five senses. So Ace of Cups is God, the good guys, health and purity, harmless, cooperation or ‘going with the flow,’ health, pure water, flow (so, going with the flow) and cooperation and agreeableness.
Page of Pentacles is a person, usually a fellow. He is thinking. Pages are apprentices, so the idea of being a good person and wanting to fit in is here. He is well-dressed and nice looking. Page of Pentacles represents a person’s view, perspective or thoughts, a person’s image to others or self-image, represents ‘thinking about it,’ pondering something. This Rider Waite Tarot card often translates ‘he’ or ‘thinks.’ It can mean ‘opinion’ too; and it means personal or personally.
