Guidance

When you have a grip on your inner fear, you handle threats in the environment confidently. And when you have that air of confidence from having handled actual situations, you find fewer scary things out there anyway. He won’t admit even to himself that he acts out because, deep down, he wants to be tamed by her.

You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) Your subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.

PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.

Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’

Synopsis

We talk about being afraid we aren’t strong enough to handle a particular situation even as we have the inner resources to resolve whatever trouble is likely to present itself. Yes, I shush hyper people who disturb the peace even as I defy anyone to control my behavior. Once I tamed my own fears, I had nothing much to fear. Once you take the wheel, there’s not much drama to it.

Page of Swords

Page of Swords

Here’s a young fellow all nerved up, on guard, hyper. Page of Swords is adrenalin, is being scared, angry, anxious, irritated, excited, threatened or threatening. Page of Swords is ‘something’s out there,’ something has gone bump in the night. Page of Swords has both hands on his blade as he whirls around, his hair flying, and nothing is around him for miles. This card can represent teenage hormonal emotions.

Put Page of Swords next to Nine of Wands, and you may be talking about a guard, because Page of Swords is definitely on guard, and Nine of Wands is the border guard.

Strength

Strength

Here’s a lady wearing flowers and a white robe, having the eternity sign for a halo. She has her hands on a lion’s mouth, shushing his roar. Strength is about overcoming without a struggle, is about the bloodless victory. Strength is about having the expertise and the character to stop would-be opposition in its tracks … opposition of various kinds.

Strength represents the spiritual truth that when you overcome within yourself, you overcome in the external environment too. Also, the curious fact that when you solve something in your head – the perfect squelch, the perfect reply – you won’t get to use it ‘in the real world’ because the situation will not happen again, as if by magic.

Phrases native to Strength are: handles, overcomes, solves, solution, prevents trouble, handles a problem, prevents harm, nips opposition in the bud, assertive woman, finesses a situation.

Since she is hands-on with the predator, ‘hands-on’ is one of Strength’s words (like Eight of Pentacles, work). The hands on the lion also can bring up physical touch, petting.

Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

You sense a back-story, a secret, to the illustration here. A fellow clutches his money to himself, stares straight ahead, and is sitting in a street by himself, turning his back on the town behind him.

The title of this card in most Tarot books is The Miser. The way he clutches those coins brings up all sorts of phrases about holding in and holding on, about not letting yourself, about keeping from, being cowed, even sulking. Holding onto himself brings up stifling himself, laying low, feeling inferior, not talking, keeping quiet about something, not admitting something, keeping a secret, not expressing.

Holding onto the money also brings up a trunk of meanings about deficit, about being short … short of money, not enough, budget.

Now Without The Pictures

In the middle is Strength, handling and overcoming … got things under control. To the left is Page of Swords who can represent a threat, who can represent being fearful of something that isn’t apparent, and who can also represent being angry or defensive.

The fact that both Strength and Four of Pentacles are about internal feelings and processes adds dimension and variety to the stories these three Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim™ tell. Strength is overcoming either internal demons or external demons, and it also is about preventing harm, nipping trouble in the bud.

Page of Swords is determined to keep everything away. Four of Pentacles is holding it in, is keeping what he has from everyone. So both Page of Swords and Four of Pentacles are keeping something bad out. Both can be defensive. The context of the cards today makes this about fear and threat, and Strength makes most of the stories about overcoming.

You see Page of Swords literally armed against ‘whatever’s out there,’ which is nowhere to be seen. You see Four of Pentacles hugging himself to shut something out. But both Page of Swords and Four of Pentacles are also feeling intruded upon. Page of Swords is hyped up, often in anger; Four of Pentacles is sulking, giving someone ‘the silent treatment.’

As you read this, you can see that Page of Swords and Four of Pentacles can be about a ruckus, a confrontation. But today, when Strength joins them, the drama is mostly internal. Today our headline stories say that when you have yourself in control, you have elements of the environment in control that could be exciting or threatening.

Strength and Page of Swords are both dealing with fears – Strength through mastering them and Page of Swords through being confronted by them. Strength and Page of Swords are both defending turf – Strength through having the expertise to intimidate opposition before it rears its head, Page of Swords through gearing up to clash before it is actual.

But we have other themes as well. Strength can be processing the internal secret soul stuff that Four of Pentacles is repressing and not admitting even to (him)self. Strength overcomes the personal issue Four of Pentacles is repressing and not acknowledging.

Here’s another theme: Four of Pentacles and Strength is about not exerting much(Four of Pentacles) control over a situation (Strength), being quietly in control, intimidating the opposition from expressing itself, preventing something without making a point of it, solving the problem without direct action, not having it in you to get the upper hand.

Four of Pentacles is thwarted, is not expressing or is keeping quiet … or is being kept quiet … by the influence Strength is asserting.

Our Daily Spread for April 10, 2011

The question for this weekend is: How pleased will you be with your life for the next 6 months?

Rider_Waite_Tarot_Spread

Dealing mentally with your own fears enables you to deal with scary people

Strength
Ten of Cups, Queen of Cups, Page of Swords

Make yourself see that, despite all the reasons you know of to be fearful, everyone is doing well.
Everybody is as happy and prosperous as they think they are, and they are able to solve whatever problem threatens their good life together.
A mentality of already having a good life is a defense to whatever would get in the way of that good life.
Dealing mentally with your own fears enables you to deal with scary people.
It’s an exciting time for everybody as they realize they are overcomers.
We are all overcoming whatever we thought were threats to having a good life now.
You make yourself happy by overcoming in your own head whatever opposes your having a good life.
Adjust your own ideas of what a good life is for you and yours, and defend that turf.

You and your people are enjoying good times and you know to calm yourself when things get to you.
Once the mouthy teenager is quieted, everyone understands how happy we all really are.
You know your people well enough to make everyone happy by not letting them get on one another’s nerves.
She knows her people well enough to make everyone happy by not letting them get on one another’s nerves.
You prevent discord and make the people around you happy by knowing how to calm down the difficult, oppositional people.
She prevents discord and makes the people around her happy by knowing how to calm down the difficult, oppositional people.
You and your friends and family have a group mentality that keeps you from getting on one another’s nerves and keeps you happy together.
When you deal firmly with that annoying person, you will understand that everyone was really getting along together.

The gist of this description of how pleased you will be with the next six months is that the good life is here already; it is a matter of defining it and defending it against spoilers from the outside. It is also a matter of adjusting your inside thinking to automatically overcome whatever is in the way there. This sounds like gratitude and the law of attraction. It also sounds like Buddha’s slogan that one of the ways to have everything you want is to want only what you already have.

We have asked how pleased with life, and we begin with the Ten of Cups, which means ‘happily ever after.’ This is associated with mentality or thinking, the Queen of Cups, the thinker, who is also a peacemaker sort of gal. Next come the teenage attitude that desecrates domestic peace, the spoiler, closely followed by that element being shut up, overcome, dealt with firmly, by Strength. So our story is fairly obvious. It’s an allegory (vocabulary word alert: a story that illustrates a point) about how mama is the sweet peacemaker of the family; she keeps it happy by not letting the mouthy kid make all that noise. Deal with your life that way.

Queen of Cups and Strength are female cards by the illustrations, but the Queen becomes ‘mentality’ and her thoughts become ‘your’ thoughts because these messages are for a group and ‘she’ excludes the male gender but ‘he’ doesn’t.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Ten of Cups: One big happy prosperous family, a happy outcome, a happily-ever-after marriage and home life. The rainbow over the house, the girl and boy child dancing and parents with arms to the sky, ta-da, displaying their rainbow … where’s the dog? We need that little frisky white dog of the Fool here. Hope he didn’t really fall off that cliff.

Queen of Cups: Here is the nice lady wife of the happily-ever-after family, dreamily contemplating her oversized doo-dad. She is thinking of her man, understanding her man.

Page of Swords: This is a teenager, I say!, in the otherwise happy family. He is defensive and aggressive, standing there with his sword in both hands waving it around at … nothing. There’s nothing within a mile of him and yet he is in hell-raising mode.

Strength: Interesting how she comes right after the one who needs to be soothed and stymied. Strength makes peace, with an accent on the ‘makes.’ She is the over-comer, she has such character no one crosses her but she is non-combative. She has tamed her own beast, and can tame
