Queen of Cups – Let’s translate her picture. We all love her. She concentrates on whatever she holds in her hands as the flood waters encircle her stone seat, a blond dressed in a white robe. She is a woman of faith, most often faith in her man. You could say the main application of Queen of Cups is: She knows and understands her man. Admires him, has faith in him too. But she isn’t his caretaker or partner: She leaves that sort of thing to Queen of Wands and Queen of Pentacles. Marilyn Monroe played Queen of Cups best of all.

Queen of Cups is the feminine equivalent of Knight of Cups: loving, helpful, understanding, warm and fuzzy. Queen of Cups is so feminine, you can at times expect her to just add ‘she’ to your sentence in the same way another ultra-feminine card, High Priestess, can.

Queen of Cups is thinking; she is all about thinking. She thinks, feels, dreams, understands, and knows – figures out, too. Sometimes this Queen of Cups card just says ‘opinion’ or ‘mind’- usually when other cards have stolen a little of her context.

Queen of Cups can be the unrealistic dreamer, and also the smart woman too. She’s a lady, but she’s thinking: Watch out! Today we realize a woman who is thinking, even a sweet gal like Sally is, could be dangerous, and could be ambitious – even wildly ruthless – and could win. Speaking, of course, of Sally Struthers playing Gloria in ‘All in the Family,’ an old classic TV series.

Judgment – Judgment is one of those cards whose illustration contains so many elements that it has a lot of fairly unrelated meanings unless you hold ‘the whole story’ in your head. We use only a few here. First of all, the angel’s horn is making a big noise and ‘a big announcement,’ which makes Judgment a member of the speak/tell/say Tarot tribe, and those words are its main contributions in this spread. ‘Declaration’ appears today.

The quick change (from dead to a new life) brings, today, ‘this new,’ and ‘this time,’ ‘back to,’ as well as ‘instantly,’ not to mention ‘change.’ And rekindle, a rare appearance.

Surprise. Revelation. These are the other contributions Judgment makes here. Of course it’s a surprise to wake up from death. And an angel appearing in person is a revelation.

Ace of Swords – Well, you know it means victory because of the laurel leaves, and you know it means premiere or important or first because of the crown.
