Guidance

Things are out of control, are a mess. We have three snapshots of myself when I am in such a situation. One is: It’s confusing but I am getting it. One is: I have one simple perspective on it that makes sense to me, and I hold that thought. (I am staring at the horizon as the boat rocks.) One is: I know it’s out of control, and I am too – panic, brain-fog, high, imagination running away with me, losing it. The message implies self-diagnosis, and it contrasts intuitive thought and focused conscious thought as things fall apart. The message implies self-diagnosis so I am in a position to use both consciousnesses when the horizon is tilting and I’m getting seasick.

Synopsis

“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs” says Rudyard Kipling in a famous poem. We are saying that here too. Chaos is here right where you are and you can keep your head, lose it, or catch on in midstream. We present snapshots of situations that are beyond your control, and describe varying degrees you can have of control of yourself, at least, in those times.

Seven of Cups

Seven of Cups catches you unaware. It is about a mess … any kind of mess, from clutter to storm damage to mental derangement. It can represent a storm: the cloud and the debris. Its mood is shock and awe. Things have fallen apart, hit the fan, and are out of control.

The illustration is from Sorcerer’s Apprentice, when the bad spirits are out of control because the magician’s new hire has decided to mess with things. A similar story about the bad spirits being accidentally let loose is Pandora’s Box. In both these stories, there’s just one good spirit whose job it is to counterbalance the chaos of the demon kingdom, who is let loose after identifying herself (yes, female in both cases), and after the bad guys have a head start. In Rider Waite, this good spirit is under the white cloth in the center cup.

Hanged Man

Hanged Man is an idea striking, and it represents subconscious or superconscious awareness. When the subconscious opens the hatch and lets loose with an idea from ‘out there,’ we feel disoriented (upside-down) and feel maybe our head is hot from stimulation (the energy halo around Hanged Man’s head). This illustration also accesses several myths about the hero god hanging himself on a tree and sacrificing a body part to obtain wisdom (meaning occult awareness).

Knight of Pentacles

Knight of Pentacles is a guy: very physically oriented, stubborn, self-centered, and ‘one thing on his mind.’ Strong of body, and focused. His mind is made up. He can be obsessing. He can progress to being a thug or punk, and his stereotype is the short stocky extroverted guy who sees in black-and-white. He and the horse he rides in on are dark, short, muscular and manly.

Now Without The Pictures

We have two similar cards in our three-card spread: Hanged Man and Knight of pentacles. They both strongly mean thought, but there is a distinction this time: Hanged Man is intuitive awareness, even psychic perspective; Knight of Pentacles is single-minded conscious focus on the physical reality. Looking to the other card doesn’t help this time: It means total confusion. So all three cards are about thought, are different levels of consciousness. (This complicates sorting out what phrases belong to which card.)

Shall we take these two together, briefly, to see how they combine? Seven of Cups and Knight of Pentacles is keeping your mind on priority as things fall apart; it is concentrating on what is important when there are distractions. So we have a contrast between scattered (Seven of Cups) and focused (Knight of Pentacles), between one (Knight of Pentacles) and many (Seven of Cups). And we have a contrast between deliberation and focus in Knight of Pentacles and brain-fog – being out of control and scattered in Seven of Cups.

Tarot Reading: Keep One Good Thing in Mind (Knight of Pentacles and Wheel of Fortune)

Worry about all kinds of stuff, but concentrate on the best possible outcome.

When bad dreams are out of control, focus on the miracle.

All kinds of things at once that you don’t understand are stressful, so it’s best to zero in on just one.

As coincidences go wild, I worry about only one thing.

I am holding onto the thought of the one that is happening, as there as so many others that worry me.

Concentrate on one thing that makes it happen for the best instead of stressing over all the ones that mess it up.

A simple man who knows just one thing is lucky when others are scared and confused.

When he is in the shit, he focuses on winning the million-to-one odds, and he does.

Focus creates optimum results when things are out of kilter and worrisome.

Tarot Readings: Be Scary instead of Scared (Nine of Swords and Knight of Pentacles)

He makes it happen by deliberately scaring everyone out of their minds.

He is one out-of-control scary punk, and we lucked out.

When things get totally out-of-control, it’s best to aim at being scary instead of being scared.

Tarot Readings: Fears out of control (Nine of Swords and Seven of Cups)

When your nerves are a wreck about things being out of control, remember miracles are out of control.

One big irrational fear of karma/destiny.

Your imagination can run away with you unless you focus it on the best possible outcome.

Distractions get to you as you make one wonderful thing happen.

A tough guy is all you need to win the day when you are frazzled with fears.

He knows how to get rich off of irrational fears.

He knows how (they) worry about everything; it’s his ace in the hole.

Up nights with imaginary fears, it’s wonderful to have that strong man around.

The fear that the ‘one big one’ is going to happen and reduce things to rubble.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Wheel of Fortune

Nine of Swords – Seven of Cups – Knight of Pentacles

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Nothing like starting out with two cards that mean ‘nightmare.’  Nine of Swords is up nights crying, having bad dreams, stress and being in fear. Seven of Cups is a nightmarish out-of-control situation. It illustrates the Sorcerer’s Apprentice story. That cloud can be a natural disaster – a clutter of debris or a storm cloud.

Knight of Pentacles is a strong man, a tough guy, (even a punk). Knight of Pentacles is about being focused on what is important, keeping one thing in mind. Priorities.

Wheel of Fortune luck and coincidence (destiny and karma and Lady Luck). In real life, Wheel of Fortune is a blessing, is good luck – is the miracle, the optimum outcome. Its deeper meaning says both divine and infernal nonphysical factors interfere in our mundane physical affairs.

Nine of Swords and Wheel of Fortune mean describe sweating it out, only a miracle can save the day. They can also say ‘afraid that would happen’ or ‘what you most fear happens.’

Seven of Cups and Knight of Pentacles is keeping your mind on priority as things fall apart; it is concentrating on what is important when there are distractions.

Seven of Cups and Wheel of Fortune is “A miracle is also something out of control.” It is the needle in the haystack, the one chance in a million. It is the shock we have when something goes right.

So today’s message is that when things look and feel really scary, focus on one thing that can happen that will change it all for the best.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

Nine of Swords    Scary stuff, and no one’s around to see you hurting. You wake up upset, put your head in your hands, and let all the worry out. My nerves are a wreck; it’s getting to me. Children have night terrors too. Dark-night-of-the-soul experiences overwhelm us in quiet time.

Seven of Cups     Chaos, confusion, bizarre experience that makes no sense and is overwhelming, a bad dream.  Illustration shows the phantasmagoria of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice story and/or the Pandora’s Box story.  The person beholds spirits of all sorts, out of control and is in shock. Things are out of context and out of control, the excrement has hit the fan, and you are in shock beholding the mess.

Knight of Pentacles is focused, concentrates on one thing, is a strong man, even a tough guy. He is a sturdy muscled fellow on a sturdy horse. He and the horse he rode in on are short and stocky.  And he stares at that one thing he’s got his eye on.

Wheel of Fortune happens, happens for the best, and the best happens.  Optimum.  Luck.  Hitting the jackpot.  Illustration shows all sorts of occult symbols around the wheel which looks like a roulette wheel, telling us both angels and devils influence our day.

Knight of Pentacles

Seven of Cups – Hanged Man – Knight of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Hmmm, said I when I saw these. Two of the four Rider Waite Tarot citizens are about idea – an inspiration or state of mind or focus or awareness. Those are Hanged Man and Knight of Pentacles. Hanged Man is a subconscious realization producing a eureka awareness consciously. Knight of Pentacles is about one very conscious if not obsessive idea – is about focus.

Then Seven of Cups is many different scattered unrelated items together. It is about confusion and chaos … and smoke and debris and pieces of things lying around. Seven of Cups and Hanged Man is dizzying unrelated thoughts … and Knight of Swords would add ‘racing’ to that. Knight of Swords and either Hanged Man or Knight of Pentacles would say ‘racing thoughts.’

Add to these Knight of Swords’ sudden reversal of direction or changes – including changes back and forth – and you have changes of mind.

So we have a contrast between scattered (Seven of Cups) and focused (Knight of Pentacles), between one (Knight of Pentacles) and many (Seven of Cups). And we have a contrast between deliberation and focus in Knight of Pentacles and being out of control and scattered in Seven of Cups.

These four are a recipe for one’s head to spin. Missing is any action at all! This is one of those pesky consciousness spreads. I hate it when someone asks what another person will do and we get a consciousness spread meaning he’s gonna think.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

Seven of Cups     … uh-oh. Many different scattered unrelated items are jumbled together like a heap of trash. Seven of Cups is about confusion and chaos … and smoke and debris and pieces of things laying around. Theories and apparitions. Seven of Cups is the magician who lost control of the critters in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and is about the critters who got loose from Pandora’s Box. Its signature phrase is … out of control.

Hanged Man     has realized he always knew that! Hanged Man is when you go around saying some aphorism to your friends as if it were very meaningful and they are rolling their eyes at you … Yeah? Hanged Man is when you realize that the friend who said “Well, he had sex with that nun” has a point after you told Friend the story of Husband’s knowing the nun stole the hotel towels, that he saw her put them in her luggage. Hanged Man is the kind of realization that sometimes is quickly followed by a “Duh!” Psychic realization is part of Hanged Man’s territory too.

Knight of Swords     goes back there again … goes back and forth … turns the corner … changes – especially changes direction. He means to pursue and he means to flee. I wish it were not so. He means to be in a hurry and he means speed. His illustration shows a fully armed knight in obvious pursuit, blade extended and leaning forward. His horse’s hair is flying and his horse is flying – both feet off the ground, which is not the way horses run.

Knight of Pentacles     He and his horse are strong and sturdy, short and dark. They are standing still as he contemplates that one thing in his hands (a huge coin). Sometimes he is about self interest: The one thing on his mind is him. He can be a thug too – is at least very physical. Concentrating on one thing is Knight of Pentacles’ main meaning.
