Magician
Humans create events by embodying concepts (nonphysical) and applying them purposefully in their actions in the ‘real physical world.’ Magician’s illustration says this, exemplifying the esoteric concept that magic is will, and will is magic. So his wand in his right hand points skyward, and his left points to the ground, making him a channel for the action he desires.
Esoterically Magician as the ‘1’ is the male principle. The male principle is action on the physical plane, and being receptive or passive otherwise. (So, guys do things without thinking, riight?) So Magician is about doing … ad nauseam about doing.
A few other things Magician represents: action, activity, initiating or starting anything, making, bringing down, bringing about, engaging in. That’s pretty much it. Today, it’s all the ‘do.’ And that’s the way it usually is.
Magician is an anchor card. That means when you have it it your spread, you save time and effort by looking at it first and seeing where it applies to its fellow Tarot citizens – because it’s easier to read.
Six of Pentacles
You see an employer weighing the gold in the money he pays the help, which is being very fair. This fair exchange is Six of Pentacles’ core meaning. In application, the exchange commonly applies not just to money and paying or receiving pay, but to giving or receiving attention, respect, and whatever is deserved. That can include payback or getting even.
Nine of Cups
Ahh, here comes Nine of Cups: Our wish is granted. We are feeling good, and we are happy. That chubby fellow with the big grin has – and has had – all he wants to eat and drink, and there’s the empties to prove the ‘drink’ part. Think of Thanksgiving Dinner if you are familiar with America. Nine of Cups is satisfied: Satisfaction is its favorite word. Getting what you want is what most of its meanings boil down to.
Nine of Cups is content, is happy, and has it all (whatever it is). Nine of Cups is dream come true and is the dream itself – the heart’s desire, what you want the most.

Six of Pentacles
Today we are on the receiving end of Six of Pentacles. The employer is giving his men their well-deserved pay in cash, and they are collecting what they well deserve. Six of Pentacles isn’t just about exchanges of cash but about giving and getting attention, favors – even germs. The delivery, the transmitting, is the focus of Six of Pentacles, but it speaks of affording or having the money for, and it speaks of profit. And, well, yes, it is a support card for the theme of justice because of the scales, but we are not going into its justice applications here.
Wheel of Fortune
The point of the word picture on Wheel of Fortune is that events that happen are potentially influenced by spiritual realities and otherworldly critters (who are colorfully around said wheel). Letters for ‘rota,’ which is the word for ‘wheel,’ (hence, the word ‘rotation’), and which refers to the Wheel of Fortune that means destiny in Western myths – those four letters are interleaved with the four letters for God’s name in Hebrew. Think of a roulette wheel.
Wheel of Fortune, placed with these particular neighboring cards, is sticking to its mainstream meaning of something wonderful happening, so it is translating: gamble, lucky day, good fortune, opportunity, a chance to, happening, coincidence, miracle, fortuitous.
The justice meaning of Six of Pentacles brings out Wheel of Fortune’s karmic streak, so that gets in here once.
Knight of Swords
Knight of Swords has a lot to do with a moment in time, because he is in a big rush. ‘Suddenly’ is his favorite word. He pursues in the picture. He leans forward, has the heavy sword over his head, and the horse is floating off the ground. (By the way, that’s not the way horses run.) But Tarot Verbatim™ decrees that he also applies to running away, turning around, going back and forth, as well as anything high-speed. Any word for fast (like emergency, like overnight, like ‘on the wings of’ or ‘strike while the iron is hot). He is so changeable that he will often translate ‘change.’ Today, he is mainly getting out and getting away.

The picture on Six of Pentacles shows the delivery of money into the hands of people, money that is rightfully theirs – they are workers and this is their pay. The picture on Wheel of Fortune depicts coincidence being influenced by otherworldly factors – and the card looks like a roulette wheel. The picture on Knight of Swords shows a fast-moving horse and rider.
Six of Pentacles is the delivery, and Wheel of Fortune is something wonderful. Knight of Swords is fast. So fast delivery of something wonderful. (You get the idea of an overnight package with something valuable in it coming to your door.) Just as easily, you luck out (Wheel of Fortune) and get your money (Six of Pentacles) back.
Wheel of Fortune is karma and is a happening; Six of Pentacles is something deserved; and Knight of Swords is not only a rush but an overturning, a reversal of fortune. (Knight of Swords means ‘reversal of fortune’ even without a little help from its Wheel of Fortune friend.) Think of the ‘reversal’ as part of his coming-and-going meaning.
So Six of Pentacles and Knight of Swords are sudden (Knight of Swords) justice (Six of Pentacles). They describe getting your just deserts when that is rewarding too, with Wheel of Fortune … something wonderful … standing by. An example of a scenario such as this would be suddenly some money you gave up on collecting is paid to you, or even a favor that was promised and not delivered is done for you, unexpectedly. Furthermore, it’s even more general than that: It says ‘fast money.’ Knight of Swords is fast and Six of Pentacles is money in your hands.
Wheel of Fortune is a chance or opportunity, and Knight of Swords is turning around, so ‘Your chance to turn things around.’ They also speak of pursuing (Knight of Swords) opportunity (Wheel of Fortune), or an opportunity (Wheel of Fortune) gets you going (Knight of Swords).
Knight of Swords is also getting out, so you have a chance (Wheel of Fortune) to get out, or to get out of something (Knight of Swords).
Knight of Swords has some surprise phrases, since it means both coming and going and also means a turnaround. So Six of Pentacles is money, and Knight of Swords adds ‘comes and goes’ to that. Another example, Knight of Swords can translate ‘either way.’ So ‘Either way, I get paid.’
Six of Swords is the right price, and Wheel of Fortune is a great opportunity, and Knight of Wands is ‘rush right over,’ so here we have a bargain hunter in a hurry to score.
Both Wheel of Fortune and Six of Pentacles can be a payoff. Wheel of Fortune is a windfall or jackpot kind of payoff, and Six of Pentacles is an earned payoff. But Six of Pentacles, investing, standing next to the card of gambling indicates the gamble pays off.

Page of Wands shows a good-looking young man standing proudly, well-dressed. He is an apprentice, eager to be his best self, and to fit in, so he is young. Being in good shape, being your best, being yourself, are Page of Wands’ characteristics. This card very frequently appears as a speak/say/tell theme card. Six of Pentacles
Six of Pentacles is a fair and upfront exchange between or among people who have an agreement, very similar to the concept in Three of Pentacles. Both of these Tarot Verbatim™ cards feature an exchange of money but can mean other sorts of exchanges such as friendship, attention, favors, etc. Often, Six of Pentacles is about treating people right or being treated right.
The illustration shows an employer being very fair in the way he pays employees: He weighs the gold coins because as the coins circulate they wear down and are worth less because some of the gold is worn off. The value of the coins is in their weight not their face value.
Six of Pentacles is about paying the price, paying the bills, and something that pays off (or the payoff itself). And of course it’s also getting paid, especially a paycheck. Wheel of Fortune amplifies this Six of Pentacles meaning to ‘grand payoff’ like hitting a jackpot.
Six of Pentacles is strongly about fairness, even about justice and getting what you deserve (either way) because of the scales the employer is using.
Wheel of Fortune
Wheel of Fortune is heavily esoteric, but not today. It’s core meaning is coincidence, and more specifically the idea that otherworldly entities influence happenings in our real physical world, and that’s our fate or destiny. Very frequently, Wheel of Fortune means ‘it happens,’ or a happening or event. It is likely to be a good thing. Naturally, gambling belongs to Wheel of Fortune; its illustration even looks like a roulette wheel.
Knight of Cups
The main tipoffs in Knight of Cups’ illustration are (1) The wings of the god of communication (Mercury) are on his helmet and (2) He is offering a cup – which would be extending friendship or offering a truce. So Knight of Cups is about taking initiative to communicate and be friendly.

Both Six of Pentacles and Knight of Cups are about both giving and receiving. Six of Pentacles is the exchange itself, and Knight of Cups is more the person who offers the suggestion or accepts the gift. Between them is Wheel of Fortune which indicates this is a lucky happening or a windfall.
And both Six of Pentacles and Wheel of Fortune can be about making some money, though it’s not among either one of them’s main meanings. Both Wheel of Fortune and Six of Pentacles translate ‘pays off,’ Wheel of Fortune as a windfall, jackpot, or reward type thing, and Six of Pentacles as more of a profit type of thing.

King of Wands is himself, the guy down the street, the man who does things, has a job, is whatever he was born into, and is opinionated and frustrated to one degree or another. This is the ‘redhead,’ the fellow with a temper. Think Archie Bunker: He is the perfect King of Wands. But don’t think we are limited to working class with our King: He is found in the professions and in the seats of power. This is not the thinking man, nor is he insightful. Some King of Wandses fit the Christian concept of ‘the natural man,’ and King of Wands guys are referred to as ‘the common man’ by pontificating authors.

An employer weighs the coins he pays the workers (because the amount of gold left in coins is their actual value). The scales make Six of Pentacles a support card for a justice theme, especially when fines or payouts or child support is the story – or when simple fairness is the theme. First, Six of Pentacles is any kind of paying or receiving. It’s the price, the fair price, it’s ‘afford’ and ‘affordable,’ etc. Next, this exchange theme expands into giving or getting attention, germs, respect – anything. Think ‘exchange,’ which the picture clearly is.
Two of Wands
Elements of Two of Wands’ picture make unrelated themes for this Tarot card. Mr. Mogul owns the town – the real estate below – if not the whole world (in his hand there). He is planning to make even more money from that ownership. He is obviously a VIP, and obviously influential, if not powerful. So he is stable (stability) and a civic leader, and well-off to rich. The fact he is planning makes Two of Wands frequently translate all sorts of future tenses in surrounding cards, and all sorts of words that mean ‘future.’ Two of Wands is also a real estate, mortgage, bank and anything to do with banking, including savings accounts. Knight of Swords
Thus fully armed knight leans forward on a racing horse, weapon extended. This suggests hot pursuit (You down hold that heavy blade up until you’re about to use it, you know.) But in real Tarot practice in Tarot Verbatim™, for me at least, he means all sorts of movement including these today: goes out, on your way out, go out of my way, get back, turnaround, sent back go elsewhere, gets out, off he goes, going in a different direction. He commonly means to flee or run away or go away too, but not today.
One of the favorite translates for Knight of Swords is ‘suddenly,’ and several other cards also belong to the suddenly tribe. He also belongs to two other well-populated Tarot tribes, and that’s the ‘again’ category and the ‘change’ category.
You can see he is about to strike. Knight of Swords indicates urgency of some sort, often. Today we have furiously, unexpectedly, an emergency, and ‘you’re on it.’ Knight of Swords will appear as an ambulance. Knight of Swords means hurry, rush, speed, etc.
Eight of Wands
Against a perfectly blue sky and some nice boring normal grasslands below, eight wands, boards, sticks … whatever… fly through the air. I could think of a better illustration, myself. Eight of Wands has few and distinct meanings – an easy card, an anchor card in Tarot Verbatim™.
First, it’s what I call a pluralizer: It makes nearby cards plural, and supplies words that mean several or ‘more than one,’ including words like ‘more and more’ and ‘increasing,’ and even ‘everything.’
Next it is one of the cards that means speed, fast, hurry, ‘right away,’ ‘the minute,’ etc.
The other trunk to Eight of Wands’ meaning tree is communication. It is a major say/talk/tell Tarot card, but it is more the serious communication – you won’t see it mean ‘babble,’ or ‘spill your guts.’ It refers to documents and to writing and written material. This is the card, for instance, for texting and for reading or instructions. Today it says ‘word gets out.’
Six of Pentacles
An employer pays the workers scrupulously, fairly, weighing the gold coins instead of taking advantage of their face values. Six of Pentacles applies to exchanges, money exchanges, receiving and giving, fairness and justice – and applies to those things very flexibly. This Six of Pentacles card will bring up hand-to-hand exchanges or phrases like ‘get my hands on.’ It applies to being treated with the respect one deserves, as well as being treated fairly. ‘Treat right’ is a common translate for Six of Pentacles.
The scales the man who is standing weighs the coins on bring Six of Pentacles into the legal tribe of Tarot meanings. That introduces ‘do the right thing’ ideas to the dictionary of this card.
It doesn’t just mean ‘deliver,’ it also means ‘dispense,’ including dispensing medicine – and it sometimes means medical treatment, since it already has ‘treat right’ and ‘treat fairly’ under its belt.

As I pointed out a little while ago, when you have two cards that mean pretty much the same thing in a three-card spread, you naturally use the other meaning(s) of one of them in your sentence. Knight of Swords and Eight of Wands both mean quickly, rush, immediately, again, hurry, and movement from one place to another. Knight of Swords is a person moving, as you can see, and Eight of Wands is about things moving, as you can see.
Knight of Swords’ other very common meanings are: change, get over it or recover, urgency, reverse or reversal. Those came in handy today here.
Eight of Wands’ other common meanings are: increase, talk, and communication words like ‘instructions,’ ‘advice,’ ‘word gets out.’ They came in handy here today too. Eight of Wands makes other cards plural.
And then there’s the other Tarot citizen, Six of Pentacles. You can see it’s about an exchange, a fair exchange of money especially. Since the others mean a lot of the same things, Six of Pentacles’ meanings tend to stand out in the sentences. Six of Pentacles is about giving and receiving, being treated fairly and with respect, justice, and all about money: prices, finances, making those payments, getting your paycheck and dispensing it. The scales the employer weighs the paycheck with make Six of Pentacles a justice and court proceedings card.
The general overall discussion today is setting things right as quickly as possible, justice being delivered, paying the bills, and generally getting what is deserved.

Judgment
All the shifts and changes that are happening in this illustration make its applications and meanings. There’s a whole new: life, phase, level of awareness, lease on life, spiritual breakthrough, realization – and it’s sudden. There’s a promotion (from dead to alive).
There’s a big announcement, and a big noise. This makes Judgment yet another speak/tell/say Tarot citizen. It especially translates: decree, announcement. Today it is ‘outspoken.’ Today it refers to the law being quoted.
The folks are alive again, and this ‘again’ is a large part of Judgment, along with ‘next,’ which comes from the next life of these folks. King of Swords has few meanings, and just about every one has something to do with the strong man or authority itself. Today, look at these translates!: a position of authority; boss; the judge; with authority; your leadership; the man in charge; a powerful man; some power; authority; a higher (court); leading role.
In addition to that, we have this language for King of Swords which references being a a man directly: I’m a man; his manhood; being a manly man; tall-dark-and-handsome man.
You know how people say ‘Are you a man or (fill in the blank – it’s not always ‘mouse.’)’? Well, King of Swords picks up on that to express things like: having the discipline, being a grownup or a responsible adult. (but ‘mature’ belongs to Emperor, usually)
