LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

………..……….      Six of Cups and Ten of Cups have a huge overlap. Both show a boy-and-girl child; both are about loving relationships; both are about a good safe neighborhood; both are about good people. The other card simply puts a magnifying glass on these nearly identical meanings. That’s how we end up in utopia today.

……………………. Six of Cups is the warmest fuzziest Rider Waite Tarot card. It doesn’t have any negative connotation whatsoever (unless modified with a card that infringes on its meaning). The little boy and the little girl in the neighborhood bring up children, childhood, neighborhood, the place you live, or the place you lived when you were growing up, trust, and of course it means romance and a gift too.

…………………….Ten of Cups shows what used to be the American Dream: the house on a corner lot in the suburbs, a boy and a girl, prosperity and happily-ever-after. So Ten of Cups is about community, everybody, a couple who are happy together, married with children, the happy life, and the good people. It depicts the concept that good people have a good (prosperous) life. (That was the American Dream.)

……………………Eight of Wands is a magnifying glass. It means over and over, more and more, increasingly, every time, and it means communication written or oral. Eight of Wands is the main card for document, and for text. Its other meaning is about speed: quickly. Eight of Wands translates ‘telling’ here, and Ten of Cups makes that ‘Telling everybody.’ This is of general use, and worth to be remembered for your future spreads.

Note that both Eight of Wands (to some extent) and Ten of Cups translate ‘everybody.’ This happens more when they are together in the same sentence. Eight of Wands also translates ‘all,’ which makes ‘all the people’ with Ten of Cups, which is kind of redundant. (Yeah, that’s a fine point for readers.)

Also note that Six of Cups and Ten of Cups are ‘friends,’ which can make that same word appear twice in the sentences they share. Another fine point for readers.

As herd creatures, humans who are well-intentioned are always trying to get a circle of good people together, who can trust one another. A circle of people is community, of course. That is what we are about today: That this instinct represents a longing for utopia, and an attempt to make utopia real.

.

Six of Cups………Six of Cups shows a little boy giving a little girl flowers in front of either an estate or a large apartment building. The kitschy style of the artwork signals ‘the good old days,’ so Six of Cups is about fond memories as well as being about love, trust, giving and receiving gifts, childhood and children.

.

Ten of Cups………….Ten of Cups is one big happy family, and extends into one big happy community by placing the happy family outdoors looking at their wonderful home, which suggests community – a community of happy families. That is what suburbs are. Ten of Cups is about a circle of people, or circle of friends, and it extends to ‘everybody.’ Ten of Cups often simply translates ‘happy’ or ‘happiness.’

.

Eight of Wands…………Eight of Wands is one of the few cards whose illustration does not reflect its meanings very well. Meanings in Tarot Verbatim™ arise from trial experience of what that card contributed in answers that were ‘knowns,’ when the question was designed to find the cards’ meanings, so the question was the known in the equation. Eight of Wands has few meanings, most of which simply magnify or repeat the card Eight of Wands modifies. It often scatters its meaning in your sentence, and it often adds suffixes which mean ‘more and more.’ Most often, it adds ‘-er’ and ‘-ier.’ With the limbs flying through the air, speed is another of its themes, the most common translate for which is ‘quickly.’ It means repeatedly, more, more and more, one after the other, each time, every one (which once in a while says ‘everyone’ or ‘all’), over and over – and it means telling, saying, communicating in any way.

Tarot Readings for You for December 23, 2013 Monday©

Guidance     Tensions between a couple compare to tensions between families. It’s always two sides, you know … The two sides expand to the neighborhood and then to the general situation. Tarot presents the idea that two factions are a repeating pattern greater than the sum of its parts, that individuals, couples, neighbors and states engage one another in conflict because of instinctual taste for the conflict more than for a cause or any real reason.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Nine of Wands

Ten of Cups – Four of Wands – Eight of Wands

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Ten of Cups and Four of Wands Here are the two ‘happy marriage’ cards waltzing in together. Our theme. Their meanings overlap a lot. Ten of Cups means marriage, happy marriage, everybody, family, neighborhood, house, happy couple, happy people, well-adjusted ‘good’ people, group, prosperity, celebration, reunion, and happy. Four of Wands also means wedding, neighborhood of good (upstanding) people, wedding, native country, members, faction, community (including in the political sense), company, organization, headquarters, and agency (any level). Most of the time, as you can see, these two cards mean pretty much the same thing: You look for one each in two sentences to establish a ‘unity’ theme of one sort or another.

But put them side by side, and they do come up with some phrases, like an organization that is ‘one big happy family.’

Eight of Wands and Nine of Wands cancel that unity theme. Nine of Wands is all kinds of defensiveness, since it depicts a border guard who dreads another attack, you know? Here’s what it says today: grievance, have to live up to it uneasy, distrust, pressure, facing difficulty, having to live up to, nervous, get on nerves, guarding, dreading, worry, defensive, under threat, uncomfortable, tension.

Eight of Wands just adds to things. Its meanings don’t correlate with the illustration much. Generally, it indicates a plural for a nearby card – ‘those things’ – means ‘increasingly’ and ‘more and more’ and ‘ier.’ It is also communication, written, oral or whatever: talk, new. It is also a list.

Put them together and a bad thing is getting worse.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Ten of Cups Happily ever after in suburbia with a boy and a girl, a rainbow over the ranch house, a couple hugs while the kids prance. This is the good upstanding life in the good neighborhood as one of the good people. It is any group of people, in a good context. Let’s apply that generality, shall we? This meaning expands to include any circle (as in circle of friends) and people who have anything in common (parties, factions, camps – the choir, the crowd at the pool hall, the coworkers you asked about, etc.) – family, people, the good people, marriage, happy marriage, married with children, happiness, togetherness (one big happy family). The meaning expands to neighbors and community, but Four of Wands is usually the spokesperson for city, state, county, nation, national groups and so on. Ten of Cups is a house or home, too – usually in a respectable area.

Four of Wands A big wedding of the leading families is a community event, and means a formal marriage. Put Justice with it, and it’s a ‘paper marriage.’ Four of Wands means these other things in a formal way too: community (any level including international, as in races or religions), country, native country – company, agency, organization, headquarters, corporate interests. It is a public building, often a court house (especially with Justice), and it can also be a house.

Eight of Wands Usually a simple Rider Waite Tarot citizen meaning either communicating – talk, messages, writing – or quickly – or increasingly, more and more. It can also mean accumulatively, as when one after another goes into the stack, bin, or whatever. Its illustration doesn’t relate to its meaning as closely as most of the other Rider Waite Tarot cards. Pictured are sprouting limbs flying one above another in the air, looking sort of like lines on a page. It stands for texting, by the way, as well as talking.

Nine of Wands guards the perimeter, head bandaged from the last sortie, feeling uneasy. ‘Being on your guard’ and ‘guarded’ are words that reflect how uncomfortable you feel in a Nine of Wands situation. You feel tense, anxious, fearful, dread, defensive. Nine of Wands also, of course, stands for a security guard, or guarding anything, or even a dog who is a guard.

This is more easily done than we at first think: It’s a matter of paying attention and not responding to what will morph into disruption. Having successfully done this, a person is freer to be very competent at something, because there are much fewer obstructions to progress.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in! People love this place!

She has no problems at home, she is more and more established in her own place.

Happy to have people around, and even more content to be alone.

Tarot Readings: The Loner (Nine of Pentacles)

She blocks out what everybody says and lives the way she pleases.

She does not acknowledge her family, is more and more independent of them.

The cooler she is, the more calls she receives. Being unavailable makes for happily ever after.

She minds her own business and is uninvolved in all the things most people get together about.

Her spouse isn’t around the house, she feels more and more single.

She owns the properties as a single woman; there is no joinly owned property.

Private telephone calls to this house are blocked.

She is not one of those people; she does not even talk to them.

She does not take telephone calls; she does not allow people in her house.

I am more and more detached, I keep people out of my hair.

She keeps to herself because people whould talk if she were one of them.

A private talk the public is excluded from.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

World and Nine of Pentacles are similar women. No way do these cards stand for men. Both are: private, successful, competent, knowledgeable, unavailable, superior. Both shut people out but are not engendering resentment doing so.

The distinction between them is Nine of Pentacles is a businesswoman a lot of the time, and World tends to be esoteric. Also, World can be a shapely dame. Nine of Pentacles has too much dignity for anyone to think of her that way.

Both Eight of Wands and Ten of Cups suggest people together. That is the main meaning of Ten of Cups – happy marriage, happily-ever-after, happy people, prosperity (Nine of Pentacles is prosperity too) and ‘everybody’ like a happy reunion scene.

Eight of Wands is talk, communication of any kind. It means ‘many’ and makes a nearby card mean a plural word. It is also about ‘quickly’ and ‘one thing after another, sequentially.

Nine of Pentacles is a single woman; Ten of Cups is married.

Life stories again today. Not a lot of variety: The women are happy, content, and doing well. (I’ll drink to that.)

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Nine of Pentacles does well for herself and is a private, successful, competent, knowledgeable, unavailable, superior woman. She does not let people in the door of her life, has a gift for that. Tends to be a businesswoman, tends to be a single woman. She is often well-off financially, but not necessarily so: She is comfortable in her circumstances and ‘don’t need nobody.’

Eight of Wands  One of the simple Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim(TM), Eight of Wands is about talk, communication of any kind. The sticks flying through the air bring on any word that means rapid, as in ‘rapid succession.’ It means ‘many’ and makes a nearby card mean a plural word.

Ten of Cups Everybody has plenty, is happy, and gets along with everybody in a community way. Happy marriage, good family. Life in the suburban gold course gated community or its equivalent. Reunion of close family or friends type feeling.

World can be a complex card in Tarot Verbatim (TM), but today she is a person who is private, successful, competent, knowledgeable, unavailable, superior. She excludes undesirable anythings from her sphere by such an act of will that she is simply invisible to them.

World tends to be esoteric. Also, World can be a shapely dame.

Did you come here just for your predictions? –

If so, you are done when you finish reading the sentences of Group Analytical Tarot Cards Reading.

Each Tarot sentence is a literal-interpretation reading of the scenes pictured on the four cards you see. Only what each of the cards says – phrase by phrase – no fillers – no psychic ability used. The readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. Tarot, all by itself, talks to you. This is a demonstration of that .

Tarot will address any group flexibly, as it does here of ‘all the visitors.’ (It can address ‘all the people at work who have a say in my raise,’ for instance, without you knowing who or where those people are.)

Horoscopes are group readings too.

Astrology has to be based on someone else’s birth data, though, so it does not solidly apply to you just because of where the sun was when you were born. (Astrologers know this.)

Emily wants to know whether these sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than for people who have come only a few times. Would you help with a comment, if that is who you are? Please?

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things,  especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no, never or not.’ That negative modifier can apply to any one of the cards.

Without a question also the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) in a group reading are more flexible,  especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads.  When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute.  Notice how, as much as possible, we drop pronouns, which makes for some awkward phrasing.

The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! In a ‘real’ reading, the parties are identified (including the gender of the questioner!), and so is the time frame if there is one. In this group reading, we cannot do that, so we have variety.

Advice takes the tensions between a couple and compares it to the tensions between families.  It’s always two sides, you know …  The two sides expand to the neighborhood and then to the general situation.  Tarot presents the idea that the two factions are a repeating pattern greater than the sum of its parts,  that individuals,  couples,  neighbors and states engage one another in conflict because of the taste for the conflict more than for a cause or a reason.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

We start with the two happy marriage cards,  Ten of Cups –  which also means  ‘everybody,’  family,  people,  group and happy –  and Four of Wands –  which also means neighborhood,  wedding,  native country,  neighborhood,  members,  faction,  community,  group.  These two cards pretty much mean the same thing most of the time.  But put them together and they do come up with some phrases.

Eight of Wands is a list of things,  increasing,  frequent,  one after another,  and talk.  Nine of Wands is tension,  dread,  fear,  anxiety,  concern and so on.

So we are about the tension between a couple,  tension between families,  tension in the community –  often about two groups of people,  which of course suggests rivalry of two kinds of people.  Rivalry is not brought up by the cards here,  though.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  LEARN TAROT BY THE PICTURES

Ten of Cups Happily ever after in suburbia with a boy and a girl,  a rainbow over the ranch house,  a couple hugs while the kids prance.  This is the good upstanding life in the good neighborhood as one of the good people.

Four of Wands Marriage in the formal sense,  wedding,  the leading families,  the community or native country. Pictured is a society wedding which is a community event.

Eight of Wands Usually a simple Rider Waite Tarot citizen meaning either communicating –  talk, messages,  writing –  or quickly –  or increasingly,  more and more.

Pictured are sprouting limbs flying one above another in the air,  looking sort of like lines on a page.

Nine of Wands guards the perimeter,  head bandaged from the last sortie,  feeling uneasy.  Tension,  anxiety,  fear,  dread,  guarding,  defensive,  feeling uncomfortable.
