You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) our subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.

PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.

Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups shows the stereotype of ‘the good (suburban) life’ and pictures the kind of respectability money can buy. Like Ace of Pentacles, it links having money with being good. Here you have the dream home on some acres with a rainbow over it, a boy-and-girl child dancing with one another, a couple embracing with arms lifted to heaven.

Three of Wands

Three of Wands

Three of Wands is that couple’s continuing prosperity, the certainty of their good future. Three of Wands dispenses future tense to all it touches, means income, means ‘continuing,’ and shows someone waiting for his ship (that he is looking at) to come in – so Three of Wands is also ‘waiting.’

Hierophant

Hierophant also is about the respectable end of things, things as they should be, and fitting in or conforming. You can think of Hierophant as normalcy bias. It often translates: right, should, ought to, proper, and normal. It means okay, acceptable, and up to standards too. It has much more moral overtone than Ten of Cups, since it’s churchy – the illustration shows the pope doing a ceremony. Emphasis in Hierophant is behaving, conforming, things the way they should be, protocol and curriculum type things: the official reality, the way things are. Things the way they should be includes safety. (If you ask whether something awful will happen, Hierophant says ‘no,’ that things are okay.)

Hierophant is also labels and names – which comes from its ‘official’ branch of meanings. Also coming from the ‘official’ branch of meanings is ‘entitled,’ which is really ‘rightfully belonging to.’

Three of Wands with Hierophant says there’s good times ahead. When you hitch them up to Ten of Cups, you get ‘Everybody’s going to be all right’ because Ten of Cups is everybody.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

Ten of Cups and Hierophant mean a lot of the same things, and are in the same groove. Ten of Cups is normal or good people with the same mindset, the human group from couple to international in scope, who are respectable and not sinister. (So Ten of Cups would represent the Moral Majority or a group of animal rescuers, and it’s Ten of Pentacles that would represent the mob or any bunch of troublemakers.) Ten of Cups is ‘the folks’ and it means home, house and marriage – see the illustration.

Hierophant shares all the respectability of Ten of Cups, but its emphasis is on the rules, on conforming to protocol, going through channels, what you are entitled to, fitting in and being acceptable. Hierophant is also the name, the title, the paper that certifies – the right-of-way, you could think of it as. Hierophant is also about ‘face,’ but not so much today.

So we have two cards about being good. You look to the other. It is about income, good things are coming, continuing on, and waiting.

So our story is about things are good and are going to continue to be good for you and yours.

Knight of Pentacles – Ten of Cups – Hierophant

.

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… …..           In Knight of Pentacles, you have ambition, focus, and self-interest – the fellow with one thing on his mind who concentrates on that pentacle.

In Ten of Cups, you have the good of all, everybody being happy, community, family, and ‘the good people.’ The illustration makes that obvious.

In Hierophant, you have what’s right, proper, acceptable, decent and of good reputation.

Contrast here is the distinction between the self-interest of Knight of Pentacles versus everybody in the community doing well and being happy, in Ten of Cups.

Theme (cards that mean the same thing) here is good reputation, what is acceptable, and good people. Ten of Cups is the good people of the community; Hierophant is what is acceptable, moral, normal and approved.

So our focus balances and reconciles self-interest with the interest of others.

Knight of Pentacles and Hierophant express a focus on physical, ordinary, real-world, established means to an end. These two Rider Waite Tarot cards also describe a plain man who is ambitious in the real physical ordinary world.

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Knight of Pentacles           Knight of Pentacles is the yeoman, the common man who is strong of body and focused … opinionated … of mind. Got one thing on his mind, got muscles. Is determined and has energy. The main meaning of Knight of Pentacles is this focus on the physical aspect, which includes ambition and even obsession. Knight of Pentacles also reflects priority, the most important (whatever).

You find him coming up for a stubborn man; a Type A driven-by-ambition man; a greedy bastard; a thuggy punk; a strong believer in something. This card also translates ‘focus’ and ‘concentrate on’ or ‘concentrate’ in any of its forms. Notice how easily ‘guy with one thing on his mind’ comes up with Knight of Pentacles, because that is what he is.

Note that he, and the horse he rode in on, are dark, short, sturdy-looking beings. Knight of Pentacles represents that phenotype often enough to remember this. Think Danny DeVito. Knight of Pentacles tends to be a commoner-type man – no pretensions, no particular polish, and not necessarily groomed. You know.

Ten of Cups           Ten of Cups says ‘happily ever after’ and is one of two positive marriage cards. It is ‘married with children’ too. Ten of Cups you can privately label ‘The Moral Majority.’ That’s impolite, I know. But on point.

All the marriage cards expand to any size and any type of group. The positive ones expand to positive or neutral group [and that’s in the definition of whoever’s doing the Tarot spread]. Ten of Cups and Four of Wands are the positive ones. So they mean couple, family, extended family (clan), community, city, state, nation, international; and they mean organization, company, corporation, party – any bunch of people who have something in common that isn’t nefarious (menacing).

Ten of Cups means happy and happiness. It can even appear as what makes a given person happy. A nearby card may identify what ‘what makes (me) happy.’

Ten of Cups also means ‘we’ and ‘us,’ ‘they’ and ‘them’ and words like together, unity, everybody, ‘all the (fill in the blank),’ and ‘people’ or ‘people who,’ and a nearby card gives you what the group Tarot is talking about is.

Note that Ten of Cups – along with Ace of Pentacles – show the good people having money, being prosperous. People used to say ‘of good family’ and ‘marry well’ meaning being well off goes along with being good. (Al Capone and John Gotti were firm believers in this principle.)

Hierophant           Hierophant Here’s the pope doing a ceremony with some clerics. That’s their routine, what they are supposed to do. That’s official. That’s normal. There’s a brand associated with what they are doing. There’s a name; a label; an official designation; a recognized organization, the church. That’s how Hierophant comes to mean official, name, and ‘paper thing’ – title, certificate, etc. (For example, Hierophant means ‘the paper thing’ regarding marriage, and Hierophant and Ten of Cups translate ‘holy matrimony.’) We have the appearance of righteousness, morality, decency, what you’re supposed to (believe), the surface aspect. So Hierophant refers to image as well as reputation. (Note ‘supposed to’ in what you just read.)

Hierophant translates ‘church’ and ‘religion.’

Hierophant means supposed to, should, ought, the right thing, conform, the public face, the label, legitimate, belongs, customary, consensus, conventional, prescribed and accepted, normal limits, middle ground (as in ‘middle class’), and anything that fits that mold. Hierophant is ‘fitting in.’ You could say Hierophant is the mold. Hierophant often translates ‘usual.’ Hierophant also frequently means ordinary and mundane and ‘in the real world,’ meaning physical reality.

Hierophant belongs to the ‘entitled’ theme in Tarot, too. It means ‘benefit without harm,’ and ‘benefits.’

Now, Hierophant can bring up words like decent, harmless, honest, right and can even say ‘means well,’ as in ‘no bad intention.’ BUT the deeper meaning of Hierophant – which you can miss – is the distinction between the surface and the reality. The difference between proper and decent. The distinction between what the professionals believe and the version that’s fit to print, that’s suitable to the average Joe. The pope and the priests don’t have the same version of religion as they hand down to the public. (Just read any theological treatise designed for the professionals.) The deeper meaning of Hierophant refers to that invisible treaty that human individuals have with one another – and that companies, parties, corporations and clans have with the public – that Our Nose is Clean, that We Are Good. It’s just ‘not good form,’ not polite, to openly consider someone scum, no matter how well he or she qualifies for the designation, no matter how scandalous a circumstance is.

Humans have this understanding (in their mammal genes) to act as if others were okay, acceptable, and worthy of respect. (These days that has morphed into political correctness.) Note that Hierophant is about the official image, the official story, the official doings – the rituals and the reputation and what is supposed to be … the assumption that all is well and there’s no cesspool beneath our feet or in our hearts and souls.

So Hierophant also represents the assumption that all is well … that ‘It can’t happen here’ – what we call normalcy bias. You could say Hierophant is pedantic. You could say Hierophant is the deliberately closed mind, the ‘Don’t confuse me with the facts’ intention and attitude. Animals have no such problem; they accept reality readily without any assumptions other than their racial or species instincts. They don’t have to assume they are Teacher’s Pet and nothing bad can happen to them. But of course we humans are smarter and better than they, right?

.

.

.

What’s good for General Motors is good for America,” once upon a time was a slogan that company proudly bandied about. Really. Our self-interest, the company is saying, is good for you people. In today’s article, we compare and contrast self-interest and the good of all; we make a distinction between what is moral and acceptable, and what is actually decent. We look at that invisible understanding people have about other people – and companies or organizations have with the public – that ‘We are the good guys; we are okay.’ We agree to honor one another’s pretensions; and that’s called ‘face.’

This spread immediately suggested the Moral Majority to me! even the Tea Party people! No ‘spoiler’ cards here! Both the Hermit and the Hierophant (pope) are churchy cards, and the Ten of Cups is the good people of the community, the happy marriage. The other card’s main meanings are work/workers/workplace and consistently doing something. So, are we on the straight and narrow or WHAT, here?

Today’s messages tell us there are good people around us and we can find and join them; tell us that life is or can be nice and normal; tell us that the workplace can be peaceful. No nasty surprises to look out for today!

Meanings and Illustrations:

Hermit: The story of this Rider Waite Tarot card is about monks who would search for travelers to help them at night. Its common meanings are to seek, to look for, to search or search for, to look out for, to be out at night, to be monogamous or celibate, to be honest, kind, considerate, helpful, and also the truth, the facts. It means ‘to look into’ or an investigation as well. Here, the phrases arising from the Rider Waite Hermit card are: monogamous, looking for/looking, honest/honest man, patiently, devoted/devout, warm and caring, helps/helpful, counselor, knows how, inspect, old man, investigation, the fact is, comfort, see to it, and supervises.

Eight of Pentacles: Here is the carpenter working consistently turning out one identical item after another on his work bench. This card consistently refers to work, repetitious movements, repeated action, workplace, profession/professional, construction work, the actual doing of something. It is one of the anchor cards since it is an ‘old faithful’ in these meanings.

Ten of Cups: This refers to a group of people, in a positive way. Your circle, your family (or someone else’s whom you are asking about) the people, community, the good people, and so on. It also means happy and ‘happily after, and – best of all – a happy marriage or family.

Hierophant: First of all ‘Hierophant’ means ‘pope.’ I read a Tarot book by a (black) magic-oriented person that instructed: When you pull this card, just quit for the day. Really. The full main meaning of the Hierophant is about the difference between what the common folk are taught and the actual church teachings for the cognoscenti (ones in the know). Anyway, as you might expect, in Rider Waite this card is about such things as normal, everyday, behaving yourself, ‘correct’ and ‘right,’ harmless, safe and playing it safe, ordinary, the official story, the ‘on paper’ or ‘fit to print’ version. It means commit and commitment, and ‘true to.’ You can fill in much of the rest, can’t you?

Rider Waite Tarot 2-16-11b

He gives her lots of gifts when she isn’t sweet

Death
Six of Pentacles, Eight of Wands, Six of Cups

Business/Other Perspectives:
An increase in pay, not (just) for being good.
More money being paid (to you), not as a gift.
A lot of attention, not (just) because you are nice.
He is paid to not talk about what used to be.
No increase in the pay you actually receive.
More attention when he/she isn’t being good.

Too many bills to pay: No more kids!
No more bills than in the past.
Lots more attention, not like it used to be.
Not spending all that money like you used to.
Making more money, not like in the past!
Romantic Perspective:
When he isn’t sweet to her, he gets a lot of attention.
More and more romantic attention in the end.
He gives her lots of gifts when she isn’t sweet.
She ends up with him giving her a lot of money regularly.
He doesn’t talk romantically but gives her money/gifts.
When she isn’t sweet to him, she gets a lot of attention.
When he is giving her more loving attention, he ends it.
She does not get all the romantic attention she deserves.
He sends her a lot of romantic messages/texts, and stops.
Does not spend that much money on gifts.
Ends the love affair by sending texts.
He doesn’t pay child support regularly.
Says it is not his child in court.
No increase in child support payments.
Don’t talk about loving or pay any attention.

Someone is giving and someone is receiving (Six of Cups suggests a girl) and it’s sweet/romantic and/or relates to the past, and there is more of it. The different scenarios are from putting the cards together in different ways. This spread is a good exercise for that, actually. I invite you to make four lists of the words – one for each of the individual cards, below – and creatively weave sentences together in different ways yourself.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Six of Pentacles: To pay. To receive. Wages, bills, to spend. Fair, fairly, a fair price. Court proceedings. To pay attention to someone, or receive that. The illustration shows an employer measuring exactly the wages of employees.

Eight of Wands: The wands are flying in the air, a lot of them, looking like lines of writing. Meanings related to this Rider Waite Tarot illustration are things like: increase, more, a lot of, talk/says/words, attention, spend money on, texts, regularly.

Six of Cups: Well, there it is again. You would think there were several of these in the deck. I check for that, okay!? Little boy gives little girl flowers in the courtyard of a picturesque old home. It speaks of romance, sweetness, home, gifts, children, trust, loving feeling.

Death: In this spread, the Death card does not work well as a negator for some of the meanings, due to the interlocked meanings of the other cards which have to talk about receiving – receiving love, gifts, money, attention, etc. So it means things like stop, in the end, and commands of ‘don’t’ and ‘isn’t’ and so on.
