Ten of Wands Chariot

Tarot Readings for You for July 10-11, 2017 Monday-Tuesday© Celtic Cross

Today we have that famous question people ask psychics: Why isn’t he calling me? And people ask ‘Is he or she cheating on me?’ Well, a client on a telephone reading asked the first question, and the answer, which I diagrammed for its usefulness, is ‘He is cheating, feels bad about it, and is making a resolution not to do it again.

Question: Why isn’t he calling me?

Here’s what a Celtic Cross Is:

First Sentence(s), the part of the spread called the cross.
Page of Pentacles is the first Self card.
Page of Wands is the Cover/Situation card.
Emperor is the Cross/Problem card.
Two of Swords is the Past or ‘just Behind’ card. It is paired with
Hierophant as the Future/Just Ahead card (F.Y.I., I call the Behind and Ahead cards ‘Expanded Present.’ )
Three of Wands is the Foundation card. It is paired with
Three of Pentacles as the Future card.

Second Sentence, called the tower, and it’s 3 cards straight up.
Two of Cups is the second Self card.
Devil is the Others or Situation card (also called ‘environment.’)
Ten of Swords is the Hopes & Fears or Turning Point card

Third Sentence, called Outcome.
And the rest are Outcome, three cards straight across with the middle one aligned with the tower, and sometimes a ‘crown card’ is part of it, as today, which is Strength.

Learn Tarot

The way you read a Celtic cross spread is:

First Sentence(s)

The first three cards (first Self, Cover and Cross or, as I call it, Situation and Problem.

Then what I call the expanded present is behind and ahead of the cover and cross cards, so they are labeled Behind and Ahead by me, or Past and Future.

These are paired cards – read that way.

The Foundation and Future cards at the bottom and top of the first sentence’s spread are read paired, usually using future tense because of the future position.

The arms of the cross” is the two pairs we just spoke of (Behind-Ahead, plus Foundation-Future. Sometimes there’s a special meaning to the combination of these four

Second Sentence

You start anew now (at least in Tarot Verbatim). There are three cards going up. They are often not read in sequence, but keeping the name of the position in mind – especially the second Self card, because the two Self cards often indicate something meaningful. I find the top, third, card sticks less to the function of its position, in my practice.

Today Ten of Swords fits hopes and fears though. I call this the Turning Point or the Crux card, and that seems to fit a little better. The second card

(Devil, this time) is Others/Environment, and I think of it as a situation card like the second card of the first sentence, usually called Cover.

Third Sentence

All these cards, whether you use 3 or 4, are read in any order with no particular individual position name. (You may find, when you first start using three instead of the traditional one card here, that it’s less accurate until you wear a groove in it. Celtic Cross is entrenched in mass consciousness and this is a modification of that.

Now we look at theme cards in this spread:

What catches your eye immediately as someone who has Tarot experience is the tower part of the spread (the second sentence, the three cards straight up). It has Devil and Ten of Swords, which would suggest some kind of wrongdoing, some moral downfall, some being sorry for a sin.

The other card, Two of Cups, in Tarot Verbatim is the main card for personal betrayal, sexual trespass, and taking advantage secretly of another person. So in Tarot Verbatim, this spread screams ‘He had sex and is so sorry he betrayed you. (Ten of Swords is sorry.) And, by the way: Ten of Swords is also a card of betrayal. Ten of Swords is devastated, laid low.

You also notice that the first two cards of your spread both mean a clean-cut good moral guy,  Page of Pentacles and  Page of Wands. Of course, in the first sentence ‘I did not behave myself’ or ‘I did not act in a decent moral way’ is part of the second sentence’s message about ‘sorry I failed.’

In the third sentence, Five of Pentacles is a miserable failure and Ten of Wands is so sorry. (Ten of Wands is also saying ‘no matter how difficult. Tarot does these double meanings.)

In the first sentence, the “I am going to do my part in this relationship” is restated in Chariot, the responsible disciplined person who gets the job done. Strength too prevents misbehavior: It and Chariot are about discipline. . As I promised, this spread is a fine example of interlocking repetition, and it’s very clear to read.

Of course, in the first sentence ‘ I did not behave myself’ or ‘ I did not act in a decent moral way’ is part of the second sentence’s message about ‘ sorry I failed.’

      LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

This is the story of two single people. She is a private, cool woman whose center of life is her home or business, and she is content – has all she wants in life. He is a friendly and likeable fellow who communicates easily and well, is warmhearted and helpful. His Tarot card, Knight of Cups, also means boyfriend or assistant; whereas hers also means businesswoman, competent woman, and woman of independent means.

Knight of Cups also means an offer and Wheel of Fortune is an opportunity or chance. So ‘offer her a chance’ is one of our common phrases today.

Knight of Cups is the warm puppy, the boyfriend or suitor, and Nine of Pentacles is the cool woman who doesn’t need anybody, the kind who would test his skill at wooing.

Ten of Wands’ three branches of meaning here today are along the lines of ‘extreme,’ along the lines of ‘a long time’ and along the lines of feeling down or depressed. Phrases like these, in order of appearance, belong to Ten of Wands:

always be

difficult burden

a long time

hesitates too long

forever

how long it taes

a long time

eventually

long-term

waiting

for so long

finally

the biggest

something long-lasting

a lot of

very difficult thing

sad about it

depressing

long-awaited

heartbroken

finally

a long time

for so long

a long time and a lot of

So a wonderful thing, a big opportunity or offer, is coming (in its own time) to him, her or them. The wonderful chance is in love and/or business.

      LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Ten of Wands is a lot of (anything). A lot of effort, a lot of time, a lot of sadness, taking on the whole burden in one load, eventually ‘making it’ after the slow progress. Ten of Wands is about the strain of making it, more than the making it.
Wheel of Fortune is about the Laws of Random Distribution: chances, opportunity, destiny, fate, karma, gambling, the odds. This Rider Waite Tarot card means ‘It happens,’ with the ‘it’ being (usually) a good thing.
Knight of Cups is everybody’s darling. A born salesman. The likeable outgoing fellow who can talk to anyone. The warm puppy of a lover. He wears Mercury’s wings on his helmet to indicate communication. He has his cup of friendship right there with him when he meets you.        Nine of Pentacles has it made, is self-sufficient, is confident, does not need anyone – is doing just fine just like I am. No bleeding heart here. She is a single woman who owns her own (whatever). She ‘don’t need nobody to tell her troubles to.’ She is competent, often a businesswoman, often lives alone. Don’t ask her for a loan.

I N S T R U C T I O N S & Explanations (Comments are below this.)   Did you come here just for your predictions? – If so, you are done when you finish reading the sentences of Group Analytical Tarot Cards Reading. Each Tarot sentence is a literal-interpretation reading of the scenes pictured on the four cards you see. Only what each of the cards says – phrase by phrase – no fillers – no psychic ability used. The readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. Tarot, all by itself, talks to you. This is a demonstration of that . Tarot will address any group flexibly, as it does here of ‘all the visitors.’ (It can address ‘all the people at work who have a say in my raise,’ for instance, without you knowing who or where those people are.) Horoscopes are group readings too. Astrology has to be based on someone else’s birth data, though, so it does not solidly apply to you just because of where the sun was when you were born. (Astrologers know this.) Emily wants to know whether these sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than for people who have come only a few times. Would you help with a comment, if that is who you are? Please? Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things,  especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no, never or not.’ That negative modifier can apply to any one of the cards. Without a question also the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) in a group reading are more flexible,  especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads.  When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute.  Notice how, as much as possible, we drop pronouns, which makes for some awkward phrasing. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! In a ‘real’ reading, the parties are identified (including the gender of the questioner!), and so is the time frame if there is one. In this group reading, we cannot do that, so we have variety.   Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim ™ thing works? If so, *Go to Learn Tarot by Observing. Advice is about the long hard search and the long hard journey to get to a loving relationship with someone you can trust, and the same long hard search and huge effort to find the location, the home-place, that is safe and friendly – the neighborhood to bring up children in. This story is about the effort, the time it takes, the patience it takes, and about the eventual success that is yours. It suggests that this is what success in life is.

Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:

*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. At least one of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)

The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.”

The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days. Comment or call if you have a suggestion for a question.

(Some days are ‘keep an eye open for’ and some days are ‘green light, go fast.’)

*Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread

Hermit and Chariot are both on the road, and both have an intention, a purpose. Hermit is looking, searching, seeking, and is volunteering to be of help. He is devoted and sincere, a caretaker. Chariot is ambitious, purposeful, masterful – a success for himself, the type that gets ahead.

Hermit and Six of Cups are sincere, trusting, old-fashioned, loving, devoted, kind, helpful, sweet …

Hermit is well-intentioned toward strangers, is traveling, and is honest, and Six of Cups is affectionate toward a specific other person and is home. Hermit is celibate (or monogamous, depending on the question) and Six of Cups is romantic, or focuses on a child or children.

Hermit and Ten of Wands are both moving forward patiently.

Six of Cups and Ten of Wands refer to longstanding issues or situations. Six of Cups is the past, the good old days, and pleasant nostalgia – once again, stationary at home; whereas Ten of Wands is difficult, depressing, and on its way to somewhere else.

Chariot and Ten of Wands both arrive, both accomplish their task. It’s just that Chariot sails through whatever the difficulty is, and Ten of Wands is bowed down by it.

Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards

Hermit’s story is that of a monk in the service of travelers. He is out at night seeking people to help. He is going to them. This is a friend, caretaker, honest man or person. He is devoted. Often he stands for an old man or older person.

Chariot is master of circumstances, ambitious and successful. This Rider Waite Tarot card is about ‘tacking against the wind,’ about using elements that are against you advantageously, and about being aware of the downside of the elements that are in your favor overall. He is on the road to get ahead. This card is about willpower, purpose, deliberate action. He is masterful. Note that he isn’t macho or pushy, he is self-confident and businesslike.

Six of Cups is so sweet, is as devoted as the Hermit. It calls forth romance, children, home (as in home-sweet-home), the good old days – the past we look back to fondly, the old neighborhood or childhood home.

Ten of Wands is overwhelmed, it’s too much, it’s taking on the whole task at one time and making very slow progress. It’s being depressed and slow-moving. BUT it gets there. This is a card of eventual success. It often refers to ‘eventual.’ The illustration in Rider Waite is very graphic: A man is loaded down with all those boards, carrying them all in one load to their destination.
