Hanged Man      Today we are using the normal meanings of a heavily paranormal Tarot card. Hanged Man is paranormal senses and abilities – even paranormal activities. Nope, not here; not now. Hanged Man is intense feeling – intense feeling of belonging, because that is what its two roommates are about. Today, Christmas Day, Hanged Man has a heavy infestation of the warm-fuzzies.

You see a fellow who is upside-down with an overactive brain (the energy halo around his head). You feel upside-down when some realization, or some intense feeling, has grabbed your internal steering wheel and made a turn into territory you don’t recognize. The Winter Solstice ends the increasing darkness and cold, and turns the corner to go meet Spring. Fascinating that we have here two relationship cards which each depict three parties. We have two triangles, one beneficial and one malefic (very not beneficial).

Three of Pentacles is about a good deal (business or other), a good relationship, being fair and doing your part, and an agreement. (A meeting too – but not today.)

Two of Cups is butting in, taking advantage, suckering someone into doing what is not in their interest … in any way. It is the cheating lover, the mooch, the spy, the con artist, the pusher and the narc, and even the taxman.

And who is our other Tarot person? – Six of Swords, all about getting out of the bad scene for the better one. So it goes both ways; it can be about having a good situation because of the bad one, or it can be about recovering from the current condition, leaving the bad one. Six of Swords’ emphasis – Remember this – can be on what is ahead or what is behind, the before or the after, the going or the coming. Or it can be about the journey.

Two of Cups and Six of Swords make a story about getting out of a bad place, of evading being used. Six of Swords is leaving the bad place for a better future. Two of Cups I call ‘third party influence.’ It means to be influenced by or even controlled by something you are not privy to, such as a mooch, an addiction, a handicap. It means having ties to anything or anyone that is bad for you, so it includes energy vampires, overhead, debt schemes, nosy buttinskies, cults ….

F. Y. I., lately the same cards try their damnedest to repeat, from day to day. I have been not letting that happen for the most part. Today, all three of yesterday’s cards did that, several times, until I let this layout through. So yesterday’s message is important.

Three of Pentacles is about each person doing his or her part with the others in some relationship, whether it be love, business, friendship, reaching a settlement with the opposition, what happens in a meeting. Three of Pentacles is negotiation that makes the agreement between the parties (however many or few they be). Today we are all about that relationship!

You see a meeting of the architect or general contractor and his clients, in which he demonstrates, with the blueprint, that he abode by their contract. This entitles him to his largest draw which represents his profit, so a profitable business is one of Three of Pentacles’ themes. So is real estate. Three of Pentacles become a legal card through this illustration, but not today, not here.

Two of Cups    Bloodsucker alert! Two of Cups is a drain upon you of any kind. Someone wants a piece of you. It could be just the taxman, overhead or obligations; but it could be busybody relatives, a friend who has a use for you, a mooch or even a seduction. Strings are attached with Two of Cups: It’s a situation where you are roped into playing someone else’s game, and feel tied to them (or it). It’s a cheating lover or an embezzling bookkeeper or a prying agency. The lovers in the picture have a caduceus over the cups of wine they are pledging their love (‘troth’) with. That means their union has undeclared opposition or covert interference, and indicates one or both of these folks may be insincere or scheming. Look for scheming relatives sometimes with Two of Cups.

The winged lion’s head above intertwined snakes means vampirism (using another) of some sort. It speaks of interference by unsavory entities, even landlords or demons. (Yes, the medical profession adopted it!)

Two of Cups suggests you not trust the environment. Or your best friend.

Six of Swords    Leaving, avoiding, evading, getting away from, putting it behind, escaping, distancing. Leaving a bad scene is recovering. Hard times and you are getting out of there with some help. Leaving, relocating. Mother and child escape – leave quietly, with nothing but the clothes on their backs, at dawn or dusk, in a paddle-boat powered by a helpful friend. Difficulties fade away, the future looks better now that that is over.

Six of Swords says things will be better and/or refers to leaving a place. Things will be better because they are unlikely to get any worse than this. The hope, and the despair, depicted in this scene remind one of ‘Been down so long it looks like up to me’ and ‘It’s darkest before dawn.’ Let’s put the past behind us and go on into a better future. Escape to struggle another day. You could say the worst is over but you aren’t home free yet.

Isn’t on a tight budget anymore; business is okay now.

Privately, I feel we are headed toward business as usual.

We don’t do enough business, which is okay since we are just relocating.

We got a deal, and it being less than the usual price means things are getting better.

This is not the kind of business we usually do, but things are getting better.

Tarot Readings: Not Enough Money as Usual (Four of Pentacles and Hierophant)

I don’t make the money I normally used to make in this business anymore.

Since (you) left the business, it isn’t up to par.

Avoids putting enough money into the business for it to look healthy.

People don’t go there to do business anymore, it isn’t that straight.

Not buying things at regular prices like I used to anymore.

The business is relocating; it is not public yet.

Not enough profit in this business, we should be moving in another direction.

To sell these people, go toward being less formal.

It’s official: This business is on a tight budget from now on.

Leaving that business arrangement because you aren’t getting the money it’s worth.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

These four Tarot folks can make lots of phrases; they get along that well.

Six of Swords and Four of Pentacles each refer to poor times. Six of Swords is saying (1) things are not as bad as they were and (2) moving in a different direction to be more profitable. We are putting something behind us. Four of Pentacles is short of money and holding onto it, budgeting. (He is an outsider in some way: See how he is outside of the town?)

In relationship, Six of Swords and Four of Pentacles also reflect poor times. Six of Swords (1) feels things are improving, are not as bad as they used to be, or (2) is leaving, withdrawing or distancing (him)self. Four of Pentacles is an unfulfilling relationship, but also is holding on. It means deep feelings. It can be clamming up, sulking, withholding attention and affection, too.

Here are the phrases Six of Swords and Four of Pentacles make together. Notice how Six of Swords denotes moving from one place or condition to another, but in such a way it means both ‘anymore’ and ‘from now on.’ Isn’t sulking anymore. Privately feel we are putting those days behind us – or feel things are getting better … or not getting much better. Clammed up and has gotten away from. Hold onto our money until times are better. Now that poor times are over. Not on a tight budget anymore. Is on a tight budget from now on.

Three of Pentacles shows the architect performing his final demonstration with the blueprints to his clients, before the last and final payment.  It is business, the deal, the contract, and living up to the agreement. Hierophant’s illustration expresses the face shown to the public, the official story, the way things are supposed to be – the surface. Some of its typical phrases are: as usual, on the surface, official, appearance, acceptable, respectable, normal, the name or title of something or someone.

Three of Pentacles and Hierophant together say: in the name of the business, business looks healthy, buying (or selling) things at regular price (‘retail’), acting like this is a real relationship, a formal relationship, business as usual, business is okay, formal agreement.

Three of Pentacles and Four of Pentacles each refer both to business and relationships easily. Three of Pentacles is business meeting or deal; Four of Pentacles is being on a budget, not having enough, withholding oneself from.

You can see ‘not doing much business with them’ here, yes? And you can see ‘withholding or clamming up in a relationship’? Other phrases for Three of Pentacles and Hierophant are: unfulfilling relationship, not enough profit in the deal (or in the business), withheld money on the contract, not putting enough money into the business, not enough profit in this business. It is also a deeply felt relationship.

Three of Pentacles and Six of Swordsshow leaving the scene of a business, a business transaction, leaving the business itself, or people avoiding doing business there. It is also leaving a meeting or a relationship. Today, it says “To sell these people, go toward” and ‘Got a good deal on a cruise,” because once in a while that boat going over the water is literal. The business is also relocating, leaving where it is behind.

Six of Swords and Hierophant says ‘Things aren’t the way they usually are anymore.’ Six of Swords is leaving behind things the way they were, and Hierophant is, yes, the way things usually are. Hierophant is the way thing ought to be, so these two Rider Waite Tarot cards are saying ‘leaving because I ought to.’ Hierophant also commonly translates ‘should,’ so these two say ‘We should be moving to another location.’

Four of Pentacles and Hierophant indicate something is not the usual, not as good as it should be, is not the official, or isn’t quite respectable or acceptable. Some phrases for these two Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim™ are: less formal, because you aren’t getting the money it’s worh (or that you’re worth), it isn’t public yet, isn’t up to par, isn’t that straight or honest, still not as good as it should be, keeping the name, less than the usual price, almost normal.

 

The main story, you can see, is about weathering a bad time that will either get better, or you will leave. In succession, the main meanings of the four cards read: business or relationship, Three of Pentacles; will not be as bad/or leaving it behind, Six of Swords; short of money or profit, or a tight budget, Four of Pentacles; the way it ought to be and/or usually is (Hierophant). As you can see, these are the elements of the story.

 

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Three of Pentacles We are doing business; buying and selling;  making contracts, agreements and deals;  meeting.  Three of Pentacles shows the architect performing his final demonstration with the blueprints to his clients, before the last and final payment.  It is business, the deal, and living up to the agreement. It is also a meeting, and refers equally to business, social and romantic relationships.

 

Six of Swords  Hard times and you are getting out of there with some help.  The worst is over but you aren’t home free yet.  Leaving, relocating.  Mother and child are being paddled away from some dismal life circumstance with only the clothes on their backs. Six of Swords means ‘anymore’ and also means ‘from now on,’ which apply very differently.

 

Four of Pentacles  Main meanings of Four of Pentacles are: Not enough, not talking, holding on to what you’ve got; private deeply held feelings. Hugging himself is what makes Four of Pentacles mean ‘deep down feelings,’ and also gives rise to the ‘holding on’ theme. Here are its phrases: Tight budget, not enough profit, insufficient, inadequate.  A deep-down-inside private feeling or conviction.  Illustration is a fellow outside of a town holding onto his gold for dear life, staring ahead.  (See the parallel to the refugees of Six of Swords?)

 

Hierophant is the official face shown to the world, the ceremonial side of a religion, the usual, normal, acceptable end of anything.  Respectability, and not necessarily decency. Hierophant can be Nurse Ratchett or a harmless person.  The pope is pictured with the monks kneeling before him.  I always wonder about those yellow suspenders:  Is that really the uniform?
