Nine of Wands and Six of Swords hearken to the past: Nine of Wands has been hurt and is dreading another encounter; Six of Cups is a beautiful past with someone loved and trusted. We complicate the picture with Two of Swords meaning negative modifiers and ‘to block’ something. The main thing these cards immediately say to me is: Don’t be defensive about your past. Another subject is being uneasy regarding a child or children.

…………………………..       Two of Swords is a simple representation of ‘block’ and negative modifiers such as: don’t want, and don’t; no more; nothing can make me, no – and so on. Very similar to Death. A blindfolded female is seated in night dress on a stone bench in the middle of the night alone, holding two heavy counterbalance double-edged swords. Yes, she is stuck there.

…………………………..      Nine of Wands is on edge big time: Still guarding his position despite an unhealed wound. He is defensive, nervous, worried, dreading what’s next. Less phrases for Nine of Wands are: uncomfortable, uneasy, embarrassed.

……………..……………      Six of Cups flavors these two negative Tarot cards with a positive spin. Six of Cups is love, the good old days, trust, old-fashioned living, the simple good life, a cozy old home, children. Little Boy gives Little Girl some flowers as they stand – warmly dressed – in front of a large estate or apartment building. Six of Cups means a gift too, but we aren’t using that part – or a few other of its minor meanings.

………..…………..     Two of Swords and Nine of Wands     Two of Swords and Nine of Wands say ‘Don’t worry.’ Two of Swords is a negative modifier and means ‘to block’ or don’t, mainly. Nine of Wands is defending the position, dreading, being anxious, fearful, worried. So Two of Swords and Nine of Wands say ‘Don’t be anxious’ or ‘not anxious.’ Don’t be defensive, or you don’t have to defend your position.

Two of Swords ……… Two of Swords pictures stasis: She is blindfolded, dressed in night-clothes, and cannot put those heavy double-edged swords down without maybe cutting herself. She is alone on a bench at night – no one around. This pictures says ‘can’t,’ and ‘dead end,’ and ‘roadblock’ at a glance. It is one of the cards that bring any negative modifier to a nearby card.

Nine of Wands …………. Nine of Wands is anxious, dreading the return of the whoever attacked the border he is guarding, and wounded him. The head wound can indicate a headache or head pain, or medical problem involving the head in some spreads. Often it stands for the defensive feelings – embarrassment, uneasiness, etc.

Six of Cups………. Six of Cups is the good old days, innocence, trust, a cozy home, a cozy home life, romance, gifts, children, nostalgia, a love of the past, who you were in the past. A little boy gives a little girl a love gift of flowers in front of an estate or apartments. They are well-dressed. The curved lines and the colors of the drawing suggest (as, say, Knight of Cups’ illustration does) warm fuzzies.
