Tarot Readings for You for February 20, 2013 Wednesday(c)

Guidance  Children and family life and romance are what we are on about today.  A woman doesn’t want to be bothered with kids.  A woman knows how to keep her kids out of her hair – they are so good they get along with everybody happily.  People feel the people they grew up with are the right kind of people, and don’t associate with those of a different mold.  People see themselves as in … or out … of the cultural family values concept.

Instructions:

Are YOU here for the first time?  Come in!  People love this place!  Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need.  ‘Guidance’ is a summary of what the cards are generally advising visitors to be aware of that day.  ‘Tarot Readings’ is the actual word for word messages the cards are conveying.  Tarot can come up with a wide variety of sentences (sometimes even completely contradictory sentences!) in a group reading as there is no specific question being asked.  So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Want even more insight and information about a specific situation in your life? Tarot Readings:  His Trophy Woman (World + Page of Pentacles)

Tarot Readings:  Views on Children (Page of Pentacles + Six of Cups)

Tarot Readings: Looking at Houses (Page of Pentacles + Ten of Cups)

Tarot Readings: Nostalgia, Family I Grew Up In, The Good People (Six of Cups)

Tarot Readings:  His Trophy Woman (World + Page of Pentacles)

She is his trophy woman, the one to marry and love, when she ignores him.

He dreams of a marriage like the one he grew up in, with the Perfect Female.

He is interested in a woman who is averse to the whole love and marriage thing.

He sees she is not interested in having a family and living happily ever after.

He is looking for a woman who doesn’t want kids, to marry.

His romantic intention is to marry a woman who is superior.

He finds women who mind their own business romantically attractive, marriage material even.

Her view is:  She isn’t interested in love and marriage.

Tarot Readings:  Views on Children (Page of Pentacles + Six of Cups)

Superwoman sees to that her children are good and get along with everybody – no problem.

She is married and has children but sees to it she has a private life of her own too.

Married with children is something she does not see herself part of.

There are no more options once a woman is married with children.

When all your friends have kids, and you don’t, you find yourself thinking about it.

Yes, I love my children, but there is more than that to my happiness.

Tarot Readings:  Looking at Houses (Page of Pentacles + Ten of Cups)

He is interested in this old quaint house in a fine neighborhood, but she isn’t interested in it.

This is an old established neighborhood that excludes people not of its class.

He is looking for houses in old neighborhoods that are exclusive.

She isn’t looking at houses in neighborhoods with children, she excludes them.

Tarot Readings:  Nostalgia, Family I Grew Up In, The Good People (Six of Cups)

People I grew up with are the right kind of people; I don’t associate with any others.

I got left out of the whole warm fuzzy family thing.

I look at the whole family values culture, and I want no part of all that goodness.

Nostalgia for the people I was happy with, that I don’t see anymore.

Me and my family are good and loving people, and others are not so.

I identify with the people I grew up with when I was a kid, and no one else.

Consciously discriminates in favor of the happy well-adjusted childbearing crowd.

I remember being a happy kid, and not knowing anything else.

I know I was loved as a child, and I feel like a special happy person.

Oh, never mind about seeing myself in terms of the family I grew up in.

Sees him/her self as very well-adjusted, warm and fuzzy, not having problems.

I was a happy child and am with people who are happy too:  We are superior beings.

Six of Cups and Ten of Cups are sentimental posters about children and family, are married with children, are a house in an established neighborhood (a cozy cottage or quaint house for Six of Cups, often)s, are about nostalgia for happy times.  They both harken to old-fashioned well-adjusted values and times.

World’s concept is well-defined but applied in disparate ways.  It’s maddening that way – when you think you got it all, you find some more on the floor.  Its core meaning is that a spiritually adept or mature person repels bad influences:  Trouble doesn’t mess with him or her.  (World is considered androgynous, for you cognoscenti.)

Today, World’s life is not troubled by children – either because she won’t have any, or because she is such a superior female she somehow has children who are good and get along with everyone in the family.

That concept branches out into excluding or shutting out, not being bothered by, not putting up with, being superior in a particular skill or endeavor, not being interested in, being left out of, being sheltered from the dark side of life, viewing another as so superior he/she is unapproachable, and actually being unapproachable.  That is by no means all – just a few examples.

World is not interested, Page of Pentacles is interested and thinking about it.  Page of Pentacles is an ‘I’ card.  It’s who I am, my image, what I think of (anything), my view, my opinion.  And the ‘I’ can be ‘he,’ often.  It is thinking, considering, contemplating, being conscious of, consciousness itself (as opposed to the subconscious in Fool, say).  With Six of Cups, it is remembering the past, and thinking of the kind of kid I was, the kind of childhood I had.  Of course, it’s also thinking about children … say having children.

Children and family life and romance are what we are on about today.  A woman doesn’t want to be bothered with kids.  A woman knows how to keep her kids out of her hair – they are so good they get along with everybody happily.  People feel the people they grew up with are the right kind of people, and don’t associate with those of a different mold.  People see themselves as in … or out … of the cultural family values concept.

.

Six of Cups    is a sentimental poster about children, romance, childhood, the good old days, sweet memories, past romance, puppy love … nostalgia.  Little Boy gives Little Girl flowers.  They are well-dressed and live in that estate or apartment building behind them.  When it means a house, it is often a quaint or cozy one in an old (safe for children) neighborhood.

Ten of Cups is a sentimental poster about being good, happiness, prosperity, and family, being married with children, a house in a fine neighborhood (golf course?).  It is the good moral people; it harkens to the old-fashioned values, to well-adjusted society, to getting along with everyone.  It’s ‘the American dream’ life.  It is one of the group/organization/family cards.  Often, it means to be happy, and being marriage material in a romance.

World    A wreath wall separates a nude lady from unsavory-looking critters.  They look the other way.  When you have it all figured out, and you’ve been there and done that, and when you’re ready to handle trouble because it’s on your resume already … trouble isn’t looking for you. Muggers avoid someone who feels comfortable fighting them.  When you have the subconscious attitude that you aren’t going to get sick, aren’t going to have (financial, whatever) problems … you repel those influences, you usually don’t experience them.  World’s meaning also includes a person who is not interested in (whatever), who excludes or shuts something out of any consideration whatsoever.

Page of Pentacles    A young person holds an object before his face and studies it intently.  This is similar to Page of Wands, the apprentice who is looking for his place in society.   It’s about self-image, ‘Who am I?’ and appearance.  It is about opinion, view, concept, what someone thinks.  It means ‘thinking.’  It means to give consideration to.  It is conscious thought, as contrasted to a card like Fool or High Priestess being subconscious or spiritual thought, respectively.

EXPLANATIONS:

Each and every ‘Tarot Reading’ sentence you see is a literal interpretation of the four Rider Waite Tarot cards drawn and pictured for today. (The literal interpretation is from the illustration on each card.) These sentences are put together by only combining the phrases of what each cards says. In other words, there are NO “filler” phrases added just to make full sentences, and no psychic ability or spirit guide is ever involved.

*Without a question* in a group reading to focus the answer, the four Tarot cards can mean quite contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no,’ ‘never’ or ‘not.’ These negative modifiers can apply to any one of the other cards.
*Without a question* in a group reading, the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) are more flexible. Whenever you see a pronoun in parentheses, please *feel very free* to substitute another pronoun than the one used. I try to drop pronouns when possible, which, if you’ve noticed, can make for awkward phrasing.

Now in an ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question and thereby supplies at least half the information! In an individual situation, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading we cannot do that and so we get a variety of sentences.

Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers know this!)

Tarot, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of flexibly addressing any group, including all of the visitors that come to this site. It can also address people you might not even know personally, such as all the people at your job who have a say in whether or not you get a raise.

We have been wondering here lately whether the Tarot Verbatim(TM) sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than they are for people who visit this site only once in awhile or for a short time. Would you help us with a comment please, if you have not been a regular visitor? Just let us know if the sentences are relevant to you. So far, people say they do apply.

Return to this site often and you can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim(TM) works. Regular visitors actually learn to read Rider Waite Tarot cards with very little effort.

Tarot Readings for You for February 18, 2013 Monday(c)

Guidance  Our topic is the politics of human nature, the clash of Entitlement versus Fairness in the tribal life of human beings (also known as world history?)  You can hear this thunder in all the levels and categories humans inhabit:  personal life, family life, work life, political factions, organizations from neighborhoods to companies to agencies of  assorted levels of governments, and on into the neighborhood squabbles of nations.  The focus is on meetings to settle complaints, and how either the complainers or the accused can be ‘right’ or ‘wrong.’  That is why we have two justice cards today, and one card for the complaint, and one card for the bad guys!

Tarot Readings:  Family Politics (Ten of Pentacles)

Tarot Readings:  Legal Proceedings, Justice for Victim (Justice + Queen of Swords)

Tarot Readings: Group Politics About Fairness (Justice + Ten of Pentacles)

Tarot Readings: Straighten Out Others’ Problems (Ten of Pentacles + Three of Pentacles)

Tarot Readings:  Family Politics (Ten of Pentacles)

She demands that everyone in the family deal fairly with others as they should.

The whole family meets to set things to right about their problem with the aggressive female.

You think you should do your part in a family run by an old bitch who makes trouble for us all.

It’s her drive to do her part fair and square that allows the family to victimize her.

Her whining gets us upset with each other, so we meet to straighten things out.

The whole family gives her what she deserves for her martyred troublemaking.

She incites family feuds and feels entitled to settle them.

She is one of those disgruntled entitled people you get to deal with.

Tarot Readings:  Legal Proceedings, Justice for Victim (Justice + Queen of Swords)

This law firm gets settlements for victims.

She is right, they have deprived her of what they owed her fair and square.

They have caused her some trouble; she is now the complainant in a legal proceeding.

She demands justice from the offending Company, and it negotiates a settlement.

She does her part and isn’t paid what she is entitled to as agreed by the dysfunctional Company:  That’s her complaint.

The Company gives the victim what she is entitled to because she has a lawyer.

Tarot Readings: Group Politics About Fairness (Justice + Ten of Pentacles)

Mean woman nags the motley crew to do what they are paid to do and do it right.

Her demands for fair pay cause her trouble in corporate America.

She isn’t getting what was agreed to, the Company violated her rights.

She stirs up trouble in the crew about fair treatment they are entitled to.

Disgruntled people complain when they get what they deserve.

Fair-minded people are at a disadvantage dealing with martyrs.

Tarot Readings: Straighten Out Others’ Problems (Ten of Pentacles + Three of Pentacles)

When you’re in the legal profession, you deal with dysfunctional people’s gripes.

They get together to straighten out her problem with those people.

She’s expecting you to settle all her problems with everyone; she feels entitled to that.

Three of Pentacles

Justice – Ten of Pentacles – Queen of Swords

.

We have two legal cards, a complaining woman or victim or plaintiff, and trouble with or within a group of people.  Our story is about expectations and fairness, for sure.  There’s no other place to go with these four Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim(TM).  VERY strong theme.

Justice and Three of Pentacles are legal cards.  Justice is obvious.  Three of Pentacles’ illustration is about settling up, about living up to the contract.  It means legal proceedings, negotiations, hearings, settlements.  It also is about meetings, especially of three people, and about getting together – even on a date.  It is a meeting of minds.

Queen of Swords is the ‘bitch card.’  It is your impossible mama, your ex-wife, the woman whose standards you do not meet, whose expectations you do not live up to.  She is also the strong or assertive woman, or the advice to be her.  This card covers being the martyr-from-hell, the put-upon controlling whiner so prevalent (in both genders) in the West these days.  She is about demanding and expecting what she wants and isn’t getting … in any kind of setting, whether the demands and expectations are justified or not.  It can mean ‘long-suffering’ too.

Both Queen of Swords and Ten of Pentacles are disagreeable people and/or people who have some trouble or problem (or who are some trouble or problem.)

Then Ten of Pentacles is the group of people who are feuding, who have a problem, or who are a problem (or all of the above).  This is the dysfunctional bunch of folks, whether they be a family, a faction, a mob, a Company or agency, foreigners, troublesome neighbors – anybody you would think of as those people.

So Queen of Swords can be the strong woman of the family setting everybody straight and making them behave right, or she can be the neurotic malcontent who stirs up trouble and demands her rights as a martyr.  There’s never a doubt, in real life questions, about which it is.

Our topic is the politics of human nature, the clash of Entitlement versus Fairness in the tribal life of human beings (also known as world history?)  You can hear this thunder in all the levels and categories humans inhabit:  personal life, family life, work life, political factions, organizations from neighborhoods to companies to agencies of  assorted levels of governments, and on into the neighborhood squabbles of nations.  The focus is on meetings to settle complaints, and how either the complainers or the accused can be ‘right’ or ‘wrong.’  That is why we have two justice cards today, and one card for the complaint, and one card for the bad guys!

Justice   obviously covers any legal matter, profession, or proceeding, or legal document.  Quite often, it also stands for police and enforcement matters, including regulatory ones.  It often simply means should, entitled, right, and fairness (as in ‘fair-minded’). We see it mean ‘deserve’ too.  The illustration shows a person who has the scales of justice in one hand, and the sword of enforcement in the other.

Ten of Pentacles     There’s the family quarrel, a generational one, pictured here.  Looks like the elderly lord of the clan expects another offspring from the wife, to me.  He gloats while petting the dogs, and Husband stares into space as Wife, beset upon by current squalling kid, beseeches her spouse futilely.  Ten of Pentacles is the group of people who are feuding, who have a problem, or who are a problem (or all of the above).  This is the dysfunctional bunch of folks, whether they be a family, a faction, a mob, a Company or agency, foreigners, troublesome neighbors – anybody you would think of as those people.

Three of Pentacles    A contractor demonstrates with the blueprint that he has completed the building for his clients and is entitled to his final (largest) draw, settling up with them.  This is a legal card.  It is a legal proceeding of any kind, including negotiation.  It is settlement, a meeting of the minds, an agreement.  It is often a physical meeting of three people, sometimes even an in-person date.  It is about all parties doing their part fair and square, and hence about treating others fairly.

Tarot Readings for You for February 17, 2013 Sunday(c)

Guidance  Why not just get out of Dodge when things are going crazy?  How crazy do things have to get before we make a run for it?  How about just not listening to that b.s., and running the other way?  I refuse to turn tail and run, no matter how out-of-control things get as they fall apart.  I don’t see the humor of a toxic cloud pursuing us. Today we ask ourselves how crazy do things have to get before we pull out.

GROUP ANALYTICAL TAROT CARDS READING

Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.

Tarot Readings:

How about just not listening to that b.s., and running the other way?

Things are fast going to hell – it’s not just me.

What part of ‘no’ do you not understand? – now, get out of here.

How can you not see how fast things are falling apart here?

Maybe there’s no way to get out of Dodge before the SHTF.

I refuse to turn tail and run, no matter how out-of-control things get as they fall apart.

I don’t see the humor of a toxic cloud pursuing us.

You would have to be an idiot not to leave as things go crazy.

I can’t believe how fast things are getting silly.

Why did I get out of there? – I didn’t want to go crazy.

When you don’t understand what’s going on, it may be time to leave.

I don’t know why I left, because I won’t admit how rattled I was.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m not leaving.

He denies he was speeding when he went out of control, but I wonder.

Maybe get out of here before (I) have all sorts of things to deny.

How many ways do I have to say ‘No’ before (he) goes away?

Why not just get out when things are going crazy?

I can’t believe how fast he made a mess and ran off.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m not leaving.

This layout is a challenge.  Both Seven of Cups and Page of Cups are about ‘not making sense.’  This limits what is being said.  But that’s okay:  Our duty is to report what is being said.

Seven of Cups is chaos, out of control, confusing, insane, things going crazy, being rattled, unrelated parts of things jumbled together like debris – as well as b.s., going to hell, falling apart, SHTF, and pollution or (toxic) cloud.  It can mean fog too.  It is one of the cards that in Tarot Verbatim(TM) can mean bad spirits (based on the story behind its illustration).

Page of Cups is a ‘duh’ card.  Here’s a silly fellow dressed in women’s clothes who carries a fish around in a cup.  This is one of the cards that in Tarot Verbatim(TM) often puts its sentence into question form.  It’s one of the ‘duh’ cards.  It makes questions like:  How about?, Do you not understand?, How can you not see?, Why did I?, and ‘I wonder.’

It means things like ‘It’s isn’t just me,’ maybe, humor, an idiot, silly.  It has an odd habit of blending into the surroundings cards’ meanings in a way that is inseparable.

Four of Cups refuses.  Refuses to understand, refuses to get it, won’t admit, denies.  ‘No way’ is a main meaning.  Isn’t going to, won’t. It is one of the simple cards.

Knight of Wands is fleeing today (Sometimes, he pursues.) running away, getting out of Dodge, speeding off.

Seven of Cups    This illustration (your choice) is Pandora’s Box or Sorcerer’s Apprentice.  Both stories are about letting the spirits of chaos and troublemaking loose.  Seven of Cups shows a black-robed fella contemplating a cloud of unrelated images.  So, it means chaos, out of control, confusing, insane, things going crazy, being rattled, unrelated parts of things jumbled together like debris – as well as b.s., going to hell, falling apart, SHTF, and pollution or (toxic) cloud.  It can mean fog too.  It is one of the cards that in Tarot Verbatim(TM) can mean bad spirits (based on the story behind its illustration).

Four of Cups    How could he make it any clearer he isn’t having any of that? – his arms are crossed, his legs are crossed, his head is down, his eyes are averted.

We see a fellow with a panicked look on his face, carrying a stick instead of a sword.  His horse is rearing up as he speeds off.  This is one of the ‘leaving’ cards, and that is its main meaning when it isn’t pursuing.  Some phrases for him today are:  running the other way, fast going to, get out of here, how fast, turn tail and run, get out of there, time to leave, I left, speeding, get out of here, and goes away.

Tarot Readings for You for February 16, 2013 Saturday(c)

Guidance  We are together through thick and thin.  We are together when everything goes against that.  When times are really tough, we have one another, even if the tough times strain that relationship.  Sometimes we sacrifice the relationship we are in to be close with someone else. Sometimes a child brings grief.  Lovers’ quarrels make for a fun relationship.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

At first glance, we have two cards that in Tarot Verbatim(TM) mean to detach, and two that mean attachment.  You can count on that kind of pattern to set the tone of the messages.

Sun is busting free of the rules, getting out of the house.  Three of Swords is a divorce or separating oneself from, usually, a hostile scene.

Lovers is attachment itself, partners in a love relationship.  Temperance is also equal partners in a close, intimate, relationship.

Another feature of this quatrain of Rider Waite Tarot cards is the two angels in cards that both speak of a close relationship.

We are together through thick and thin.  We are together when everything goes against that.  When times are really tough, we have one another, even if the tough times strain that relationship.  Sometimes we sacrifice the relationship we are in to be close with someone else. Sometimes a child brings grief.  Lovers’ quarrels make for a fun relationship.

Sun    The little kid sneaks out of the house to recklessly play on a wicked pony bareback.  He is having fun in the sun, no doubt about it.  Sun is one of the ‘leaving’ cards, and it is one of the happiness cards.  It means freedom and being free of (whatever).

Lovers    is about connection and attachment – partners.  ‘Upstairs’ is looking out for (you), whether that is a supervisor or God or a guardian angel.  Lovers is partners and ‘being in this together.’ It’s a couple or two people you always see together.  Being on the same side, and standing with, or standing next to.  Adam and Eve have this angel keeping an eye on them, and a volcano of passion keeping them together.

Three of Swords    Three knives pierce a heart with storm clouds in the background. This is one of the simple cards, isn’t it?  It’s hurt and heartache and pain and hate and splitting up; it’s a hostile climate and adversity.

Temperance    should be about diluting, but doesn’t appear for that meaning.  Instead, it is intimacy, close association, intimate partners, and sometimes healing.  An angel is pouring water and wine together.  This is one of the Christian cards put into the deck when the Catholic church might kill you for using Tarot, to deflect the accusation of the devil being in the cards.

Tarot Readings for You for February 15, 2013 Friday(c)

Guidance  Strife or fighting is part of family life, we suggest.  People stay together who fight, and families consider fighting members still part of the family.  We also speak of an active man or a workingman who rests up after exertion, rests up after a passionate encounter.  A person with a temper tries really hard to have a happy family life, to stay out of conflict.  Another person declares she will have a happy home life with a working man who does not fight with her.

Tarot Readings:  Not Trying, Not Taking Part, Isn’t Doing, Indifferent (Four of Swords)

Tarot Readings:  His Passion (King of Wands)

Tarot Readings:  Fighting Man (King of Wands + Five of Wands)

Tarot Readings:  Happy Marriages (Ten of Cups)

He’s your husband – he isn’t fighting it anymore – in a happy marriage.

It’s no use going all out to be one big happy family when that just annoys him.

The wild man isn’t combative any more; he is happy at home.

Staying married to him, he is one passionate and active fella.

He is so happy at home nothing can get him worked up or irritated.

I will have a happy marriage with a working man who does not fight with me.

Tarot Readings:  Resting, Sleeping (Four of Swords)

After all that passionate activity together, the guy with all that energy lapses into a coma.

Hardworking man rests up from his efforts when he is home.

He was asleep in his own house when the fight with the madman occurred.

Tarot Readings:  Not Trying, Not Taking Part, Isn’t Doing, Indifferent (Four of Swords)

Don’t try so hard to be in a committed relationship with The Dude, and you will be.

The workingman has given up, he isn’t even trying to be happy anymore.

He isn’t putting a lot of effort into the house he lives in.

Family frustrates him, so he doesn’t take part in its activities.

Husband tunes out family fights.

Husband doesn’t take part in family activities.

Well, he isn’t going to fight with you about his side of the family.

No one will fight with the cranky dude, of all his friends and family.

He’s the irritable type, he doesn’t do anything to keep people happy.

Husband doesn’t participate in family squabbles.

People don’t engage with a fighting man.

He has a temper, and is trying hard to be indifferent to people.

Tarot Readings:  His Passion (King of Wands)

The only activities he is passionate about are with his circle of buddies.

His passion is his marriage and family, he isn’t involved actively in anything else.

Tarot Readings:  Fighting Man (King of Wands + Five of Wands)

A fight with husband is part of family life.

He stays in the marriage precisely because he gets his fighting side out.

Coming from a fighting family, he is indifferent to his own anger anymore.

The edgy fighting man is happy with himself as he is.

.

King of Wands is the husband card, and Ten of Cups is one of the positive marriage cards (happily every after).  It is ‘married with children’ too.  So we have a man who is happy at home.

Ten of Cups also means house or home, of course. It means family, clan, circle of friends, community (usually of the good folks).  It is about being happy, being together, harmony and getting along.

King of Wands is the edgy cranky passionate macho or wild man, the maverick type, and Five of Wands is activity or a fight.  So, husband as the fighting man, or a fight with husband, or a passionate time. It also means the man with a temper is trying hard to …

Five of Wands is a big effort, involvement, a fight, trying hard, going all out, competition, being combative or being against (whatever). It could mean people exercising together or a chess competition, even.  Five of Wands and Ten of Cups is a family fight, family activities, or activities with a group of people (circle of friends, clan – whatever).

Five of Wands is intense involvement; Four of Swords is not being involved and not participating.

Four of Swords tunes out, doesn’t participate in activities, is asleep or dormant.  This card adds variety to the others today.  Since Five of Wands is also about trying really hard, when you add Four of Swords someone isn’t dong that – isn’t making the effort.  Conversely, Five of Wands + Four of Swords can mean trying really hard to not be involved.  Four of Swords also makes ‘resting up after activities’ when joined  by Five of Wands.  With Ten of Cups, Four of Swords makes ‘staying at home,’ and staying in the marriage, and not participating in family life.

Strife or fighting is part of family life, we suggest.

Five of Wands    Here are five fellows going at one another with boards.  Five of Wands is a big effort, a lot of energy going into something, intense involvement, a fight, trying hard, going all out, competition, being combative or being against (whatever).  It could mean people exercising together or a chess competition, even.

Four of Swords    Spending the night in a vision quest was a part of the knighthood ceremony.  The candidate was to stretch out on the sarcophagus of a hero or saint of his culture, and meditate.  That’s our illustration.  Four of Swords tunes out, doesn’t participate in activities, is asleep or dormant, is indifferent, is not getting involved.

King of Wands is the husband card, as Queen of Wands is the wife (manager of the home) card in Tarot Verbatim(TM).  He is the workingman, the common man or man with the common touch.  He tends to be hands-on – a construction worker or the man who actually does the work in corporate echelons.  He is the edgy cranky passionate macho or wild man, the maverick type.  He has a temper:  The salamander theme (not just the design, but the actual critter is by his side) and his red hair attest to this.  Just think Bill Clinton.

Ten of Cups    Ten of Cups is one of the positive marriage cards (happily every after).  It is ‘married with children’ too. Ten of Cups also means house or home, of course. Pictured is the American dream (without the dog):  The house on the golf course, the boy and girl.  A rainbow over the house tells us that.  Ten of Cups expands to mean family, clan, circle of friends, community (usually of the good folks).  It is about being happy, being together, harmony and getting along.  The Moral Majority – remember that?

Tarot Readings for You for February 13, 2013 Wednesday(c)

Guidance  Today is about putting the finishing touches on an achievement, about getting an A+, about getting over something once and for all, about graduating and getting on with life.  Today we congratulate ourselves.  When you have perfected overcoming, people avoid challenging you, much less dominating or intimidating you.  It works. You can be a girl; you can be an infant:  You don’t have to look scary, just be able to handle yourself in any situation, and be aware of that.

Miscellaneous Tarot Reading

Tarot Readings:  Overcome Successfully (Strength + Ace of Pentacles)

After you succeed at overcoming this challenge, you go on from there.

And now that  I’ve demonstrated the skill to handle it, I have to go out and make money with it.

Mastering the subject with an A+ gets you underway.

I did it!  I got over it!  I’m on my way out of here!

It’s one thing to be skilled enough to handle it, and entirely another to conquer and perfect it.

The very best victory is to get a grip on your own dark side, and go on quietly from there.

As time goes by, you will be making things perfect by the way you handle them.

I am leaving as the winner, the one who straightened things out.

We won, we beat them, we got the prize money, and it’s over.

Got to get on down the road to the next problem to solve.

She handles this aggression perfectly; it’s no threat to her.

Tarot Readings:  Money as a Motivator (Strength + Ace of Pentacles)

Hard times are over, there’s enough money to keep things under control, and that’s an achievement.

We have to go out and demonstrate making money with this.

We won, we beat them, we got the prize money, and it’s over.

I avoid overtly threatening them; I motivate them with rewards instead.

Tarot Readings:  Threat, Insubordination, intimidation, Domination (Ace of Swords)

This person is no threat to her anymore; she handled the situation just right.

She can handle any insubordination so well that they avoid her.

When you have self-control and are on your path, people avoid trying to dominate or intimidate you.

She handles this aggression perfectly; it’s no threat to her.

Miscellaneous Tarot Reading

If she is going to be a success and handle herself like that, she’s going to have to leave here.

Strength    Enough social insight, people skills, spiritual stature, sheer nerve, and you finesse situations that would otherwise be a challenge.  You make opponents accept you.  You have the magic touch, they say.  You get cooperation because no one wants to fight with someone who is a born winner.  The illustration shows a woman with the eternity sign (repeating numbers in math) as a halo, who is wearing a white dress with flower garlands.  She is holding the mouth of a wannabe attacking lion shut with her bare hands, and he is purring in spit of his real feelings.  The lion whisperer, she is.

Ace of Pentacles    is when you get it just right.  You’re on the right track.  You have money.  You win.  You succeed.  Things are going your way.  You are right on, and you are right.  The illustration stands for the ‘straight and narrow’ of Christian culture, and for ‘the right-hand path’ in occult culture, and probably for ‘the middle way’ in Buddhist culture.  The hand with the gold star of reward is held over the golden path that begins with lilies and ends with a victory trellis.

Ace of Swords    The victor is crowned with laurel leaves.  Here we have a crown crowed with laurel leaves with the upraised sword of victory upholding it, a very redundant way of saying ‘victory,’ and ‘the winner.’  Of course when there’s a total victory on one side, something or someone on the other side experiences a total defeat. (Always remember the action the cards express goes both ways, and the situation the cards depict embraces all the sides, parts and people involved in the illustration.)

Six of Swords    is about getting out, getting over, avoiding and surviving, putting the past situation behind and going on to a better one … better because the past is so devastating.  Today we use the ‘avoiding’ and the ‘leaving there’ more than anything else – because there’s no bad scene in our story today.  The illustration shows a mother and child being paddled away as refugees, by a presumed friend.

Tarot Readings for You for February 12, 2013 Tuesday(c)

Guidance     Look for an unexpected limitation that you rise to the occasion to escape. Maybe you just quit saying ‘I can’t’ and put your dukes up.  On a deeper level, today is about fighting your way out of the box to a new consciousness, about your psyche breaking out of a jail to an entirely new phase and never ever looking back.  Today we contrast feeling helpless and being stymied with busting loose and making some noise.

Call me, Emily, at 1-800-993-6912 and talk to me personally and have yourself a live, in detail, Tarot Reading like no other you may ever have had before. Your call will support 500 acres of wildlife in an animal sanctuary where I live and call home.

Tarot Readings:  Fight Your Way Out of the Box (Eight of Swords + Seven of Wands)

Fighting my way out of the box to a new consciousness.

You break out of jail into an entirely new phase, and never look back.

I’m outa here, you can’t keep the new me down.

When they told me I couldn’t, I forced myself and went out of my way to.

You get right back on the road you were run off of:  They can’t stop you.

Out of the blue, I declare I am going to stand and fight.

You can’t make me, and I’m not even announcing that.

An unexpected limitation pops up, and you rise to the occasion to escape it.

I’m not going to be tied down; I am busting out of here immediately.

You just quit saying ‘I can’t’ and put your dukes up.

I’m outa here, and there’s no way you can cage me again.

Can’t just walk away from those fighting words.

Suddenly goes from not being able to do anything to springing into action.

He isn’t stymied, he comes back fighting.

I just quit feeling helpless and let loose with fighting words.

When you reach the end of your rope, it changes everything:  You come out fighting.

Tarot Readings:  Forced to Change, Struggle to Change (Seven of Wands + Judgment)

You can’t leave, and I’m not going to let you change.”

Struggling to change, I cannot just walk away from it.

When you can’t just walk away from something, you are forced to change.

I’m being forced to change to get out of being stuck.

You can’t fight change; it just happens.

Can’t leave, and the noise is maddening.

I’m not ready for the new thing, but I can’t avoid it either.

Avoiding a confrontation about how I cannot change.

I almost changed my ways, but I just couldn’t take the heat.

The new awareness caught me off guard;  I could not just dismiss it.

Tarot Readings:  Walking Away from the Pushy Person (Seven of Wands + Eight of Cups)

He’s a mouthy fella, you can’t shut him up or walk away from him.

You can’t make him leave, here he comes back.

Tell them to get out of your face or die.

Can’t leave well enough alone – is in your face again.

You just can’t talk to him, so I’m not going to argue with him.

Tarot Readings:  Near Death Experience, Death (Eight of Cups + Death)

A near death experience changes you in ways you are not ready for.

Listen, you have to change your ways to avoid death.”

When you threaten them with death, they don’t show up to fight.

When you’re ready to fight to the death, don’t say so.

Facing a premature death or a new lease on life.

News that a person faces a premature death.

An avoidable death:  He was warned he would be attacked.

Fights for recovery and escapes death.

Tarot Readings:  Not Even Say Anything (Eight of Swords + Judgment)

Stifling what I am about to say, to avoid a battle royale.

I can’t stand up for myself, I don’t even say anything!

I told them I would fight to the death, and just left.

Tarot Readings:  Immune System Activated (Seven of Wands + Judgment)

Immune system springs into action; a shutdown is averted.

Sudden recovery from immunity being impaired.

Both Judgment and Eight of Cups are changing, the end of one phase and beginning of another, and both also mean sudden or suddenly.  In both cases, the change is not a voluntary one and is unexpected.  (Seven of Wands has the ‘unexpected’ aspect as well.)

Judgment is having a new phase, revival or recovery … or something may be happening again, or going back to the way it was (revert).  Many of its interpretations have ‘re-‘ prefixes.  It also means news, an announcement, speak up, or even say, among a few other things.

Eight of Cups is a detour, like having to go around an obstacle.  It means to quit, drop out, walk away, or any sudden end of one thing that puts the story into the beginning of another thing – you know, like getting fired and getting another job, or leaving your home for a new start.  You see the full moon with the crescent moon embracing it: two phases.

The other two cards are being stuck and fighting your way out; or they can also, together, mean ‘can’t fight it.’

I digress here:  Persistently, over the months and years here on this blog, we find that cards that say one thing also say something contradictory.  I am convinced, after mulling this over for a long time, that this is because the same set of circumstances can be handled in opposite ways – and since we have no context to fit the information in (no question, no specific person questioning) – then we get both stories.  And, of course, the same set of circumstances can arise from opposite causes as well:  It doesn’t have to be what is happening; it can refer to the past as well – the past of the story.

Anyway, back to Eight of Swords and Seven of Wands:  Eight of Swords is a female figure blindfolded, loosely bound with hands behind her, in a swamp, surrounded by swords.  Limitations.  This is about not being able to do anything, about ‘can’t.’  It can mean being helpless, ‘my hands are tied,’ being stymied, being disabled or paralysis of any sort, and it can mean ‘contained’ or ‘in a container’ or locked up. Of course it means ‘tied’ in various ways.   With support, it is the actual death card.

Seven of Wands is either defending his turf, or being a mouthy nuisance: both scenarios are common.  Often, this is about a struggle in which the odds are against you (He is outnumbered as his neighbors attack.) but you are going to win:  Stand your ground.  It’s in your face, it’s overwhelming … and, yes, it’s unexpected … sharing that meaning with Judgment and Eight of Cups, which makes three out of four of our Rider Waite Tarot citizens mean that.

Look for an unexpected limitation that you rise to the occasion to escape. Eight of Swords   is a female figure blindfolded, loosely bound with hands behind her, in a swamp, surrounded by swords.

Those boards are in your face, it’s overwhelming … and, yes, it’s unexpected … sharing that ‘unexpected’ meaning with Judgment and Eight of Cups, which makes three out of four of our Rider Waite Tarot citizens mean that.

 8 of cups

Judgment    The angel blows his horn on Judgment Day, and suddenly all the long dead are living again.  So we have an unexpected change that happens to us, the end of one phase and beginning of a new one.  Judgment is having a revival or a recovery, or is reverting to a former state.  It frequently means to return or ‘comes back.’ Notice how many of its meanings have ‘re-‘ prefixes.  Something is happening again, or is going back to the way it was.  Sometimes it refers to news, an announcement, speaking up, say, playing a musical instrument, or a (loud) noise, a honk.   It can mean an angel literally, or the appearance of an angel in a vision quest or séance.

 8 of cups

Eight of Cups   is a detour, like having to go around an obstacle.  It means to quit, drop out, walk away, or any sudden end of one thing that puts the story into the beginning of another thing – you know, like getting fired and getting another job, or leaving your home for a new start.  You see the full moon with the crescent moon embracing it:  two phases.  Look for it to refer to a temporary change – to something that is interrupted but will be resumed.

Tarot Readings for You for February 11, 2013 Monday(c)

Guidance     Our main message today is that the people who build a community are the people who have good intentions and sound ideas, who get together, make deals, and live up to them.  “People who are in business have a realistic view,” we say.  As usual, we point out that what makes a relationship happy makes for a happy prosperous community as well. This is a Tarot mantra.

Tarot Readings:  Marriage and Family Relationship (Three of Pentacles + Ten of Cups)

The truth is, you are happy in this relationship.

My idea is to seek a relationship that makes for a beautiful family life.

He is single, and he knows this relationship is him being married.

Person you are in a relationship with is being sincere about marital status.

This person who seeks a relationship with you is married.

He is being sincere about his relationship with his family.

Be sincere in your relationship with your family.

Look for someone who does his/her part in a relationship to marry.

I know how sincerely my friend did his/her part in that marriage.

People in my family are honest and fair with one another.

Tarot Readings:  Associating with Good People (Three of Pentacles + Three of Cups)

Every one of us is doing his/her part; we all look out for one another.

Seek out people you have a meeting of the minds with, and you will find yourself in a circle of good friends.

You are one of three good people who are good friends.

I seek out people I see eye to eye with, so I will be in a community of likeminded peope.

This is a community of likeminded people who are kind to one another.

People who share the same ideas tend to get together.

A person who seeks to know the truth will meet his own kind.

An exchange of ideas is how people see things the way they are.

Informed people get together, exchange ideas, and make this a community people are happy to live in.

I see a happy community where people deal fairly with one another.

I am a good person and the people I associate myself with are good people.

Tarot Readings:  Deal Honestly (Three of Pentacles + Hermit)

Count me in on the deal:  These are a bunch of knowledgeable people.

He intends to deal honestly with all of us.

He has an idea to make a business out of people helping people.

People who are in business have a realistic view.

I seek to know the facts about the people I am dealing with.

I am looking for a happy prosperous community in which to live and do business.

I see how people who are in the same clan seek to do business with one another.

As an honest person, I look for people like myself to do business with.

All four of these Rider Waite Tarot cards, in Tarot Verbatim(TM), mean good people in one way or another.  Let’s cover that first.

Three of Pentacles is people getting together in a fair deal, each doing his part as agreed.  Page of Pentacles is a person with good intentions, who is the thoughtful type.  Ten of Cups is one big happy family, a community of good people.  Hermit is the honest man, the seeker of truth, the helpful friend.

Both Three of Pentacles and Ten of Cups are a group of like-minded people, with Three of Pentacles emphasizing their dealing with one another and/or business; and Ten of Cups emphasizing a community of good people.  Both these are flavored with money:  Three of Pentacles is a profitable deal, and Ten of Cups is a prosperous neighborhood or family.

Both Page of Pentacles and Hermit are honest people, both are looking for something, both are about knowing, and both are male cards.  Page of Pentacles has something in mind, is young and looking for his place in society – the apprentice type thing.  Hermit is old, is looking for people to help, is a friend and is wise or a counselor.  You can think of Page of Pentacles as what Hermit was like as a teenager.

Our main message today is that the people who build a community are the people who have good intentions and sound ideas, who get together, make deals, and live up to them.  “People who are in business have a realistic view,” we say.  As usual, we point out that what makes a relationship happy makes for a happy prosperous community as well. Three of Pentacles is people getting together negotiating and closing a fair deal, each doing his part as agreed.  It shows a meeting of likeminded people (a monk and a nun meeting with the architect who shows them he followed the blueprint, which he has in his hands, and is entitled to his final draw) dealing with one another, each doing his part as agreed.  It is about business exchanges that are mutually profitable.  It covers real estate closings, legal processes, and any kind of meeting – especially of three people.

  hermit

Page of Pentacles      has something in mind, is young and looking for his place in society – the apprentice type thing.  This is usually a male card.  It is about identity ‘What or Who am I?’  This is an honest person, probably an introspective person, looking for something or at something.  It often translates ‘knows.’  It is one of the cards about focus, perspective, view, opinion, and so on.

 hermit

Ten of Cups    is one big happy family, a community of like-minded good people, a happy marriage, a prosperous neighborhood or family.  Mass consciousness of a group is one of its applications.  It can be ‘the moral majority’ type thing, the sanctimonious Nurse Ratchett mentality.  It can be about the ‘us’ of ‘us and them.’  The illustration shows a couple with their boy- and girl- child prancing together, the embracing couple’s spare arms raised to heaven as a rainbow graces their golf-course abode. (Where’s the dog?)

 hermit

Hermit    Remember Diogenes, looking for the honest man, with his lamp in hand?  Well, Hermit represents that idea with the picture of a service monk looking for travelers in distress.  The seeker of truth, the helpful friend.  Hermit is about looking for something, maybe a search for a missing person, even.  He is about knowing and being a counselor, bringing information or even enlightenment.  He can be an investigator to, or even you looking for your car keys.

Tarot Readings for You for February 10, 2013 Sunday(c)

Guidance     So what is the general import here, the overall message?  Well, how about something like:  Being friends with someone makes you disregard someone else?  When you associate closely with one another, both of you are likely to discount the input or influence of outsiders. Third parties who want to join in are likely to be rejected as interfering by two who are dealing with one another closely.  Or, the influence of people (and cultural ideas) that you accept inoculates you against other influences.

Tarot Readings:  Healthful, Healthy and Healing (Temperance)

Tarot Readings:  Close to God (Temperance + Ace of Cups)

Miscellaneous Tarot Readings

Tarot Readings:  We Are in Love (Temperance + Ace of Cups)

We are in love with one another; we do not cheat on one another.

We deal with one another closely but we don’t influence one another.

Loves you but is in a relationship and isn’t going to have an affair.

Is attracted to another but loves you as a partner and resists the temptation.

We are not going to let this person interfere in our loving relationship.

They are in love, are engrossed with one another, so they are not listening to outsiders.

Interferes in your relationship to get the one you love to reject you.

You two are not ‘in love,’ are just having a love affair.

We are not that close, really, but we do have an affectionate sexual association.

This is not just an affair; this is both of us being in love.

We two have a very close loving relationship that isn’t sexual.

Tarot Readings:  Deals, Dealing with (Temperance)

This person is horning in on our deal and we are not going to let that happen.

Not about to go along with the deal with this shady third party.

No way am I going along with what the two of them are trying to put over on me.

I refused to deal with them, but they rooked me into it through a third party.

I totally approve and accept them, but not their shady associate.

Our deal is totally above-board; there’s nothing questionable about it.

Tarot Readings:  Healthful, Healthy and Healing (Temperance)

Am healing from some contagion but am not yet healthy.

Is not accepting alternative healing.

We both are healthy because we won’t eat that toxic stuff.

We are clean; we just say ‘no’ to drugs.

We are not users anymore; we are being clean together.

Tarot Readings:  Close to God (Temperance + Ace of Cups)

Be close to God to refuse temptation.

Associating with divine, and not infernal, entities.

God is my partner, and we don’t deal with crooks.

We get along fabulously together as long as we don’t get into poliltics and religion.

Two of Cups – Four of Cups – Temperance

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Three of our four Rider Waite Tarot cards are about love, and two are about intimate love, true love.  The other is a love affair.

Temperance and Ace of Cups are in love with one another in an intimate relationship.  A close loving relationship is another way to interpret those two in Tarot Verbatim(TM).

Temperance is ‘equal intimate partners,’ and means closeness in any association or relationship.  It can mean partners.  It can mean dealing amicably with one another.  It is also about healing.  It shows a holy angel.

Ace of Cups is true love.  It is also trust, God, presence of God, good health, safe, clean, trust, purity, a flow – any kind of flow – cooperation or ‘going along with,’ and accept or approve.

Two of Cups in Tarot Verbatim(TM) has more of a negative spin than in other systems or other decks.  The caduceus is a big part of Rider-Waite’s Two of Cups, and it is an infernal symbol (adopted by the medical profession).  The spirit is influencing the association of two people or two lovers; it means cheating, seduction, lust, conning, using another person, being an energy vampire, mooching, taking advantage, misrepresenting oneself, propaganda, and so on. Two of Cups is something not to trust; it pretty much is the opposite of Ace of Cups’ meanings.

Two of Cups has a bad spirit influencing, and Ace of Cups is about divine spirit influencing, and Temperance shows an angel and means an intimate association.  We have a religious or spiritual theme here, but I didn’t get many sentences along those lines.  It could even say ‘Rejecting God means associating with evil spirits’ but I would not go that far without a question to bring that subject up.

Four of Cups is to refuse, to resist temptation.  Four of Cups is ‘No way. Huh-uh.’  Four of Cups is “What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?”  He has refused, now, the fourth time – head averted, arms and legs crossed.

So what is the general import here, the overall message?  Well, how about something like:  Being friends with someone makes you disregard someone else?  When you associate closely with one another, both of you are likely to discount the input or influence of outsiders. Third parties who want to join in are likely to be rejected as interfering by two who are dealing with one another closely.  Or, the influence of people (and cultural ideas) that you accept inoculates you against other influences.

Two of Cups    in Tarot Verbatim(TM) has more of a negative spin than in other systems or other decks.  The caduceus is a big part of Rider-Waite’s Two of Cups, and it is an infernal symbol (adopted by the medical profession).  That malefic spirit is influencing the association of two people or two lovers; it means cheating, seduction, lust, conning, using another person, being an energy vampire, mooching, taking advantage, misrepresenting oneself, propaganda, and so on.  Two of Cups is something not to trust; it pretty much is the opposite of Ace of Cups’ meanings.  The good news is it means a hot love affair.

Four of Cups   is to refuse, to resist temptation.  Four of Cups is ‘No way.  Huh-uh.’  Four of Cups is “What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?”  He has refused those cups that are being offered, now, the fourth time – head averted, arms and legs crossed.

Temperance   is ‘equal intimate partners,’ and means closeness in any association or relationship.  It can mean partners.  It can mean dealing amicably with one another.  It is also about healing.  It shows a holy angel.  It means ‘close physically’ and any use of the word close.  It is also a deal or dealing ‘from one hand to the other,’ an exchange.  (I have yet to see it mean dilution in Tarot Verbatim, which is the idea that is illustrated by pouring wine and water together.)

 ace of cups

Ace of Cups   is true love.  It is also trust, God, presence of God, holy, good health, safe, clean, trust, purity, a flow – any kind of flow – cooperation or ‘going along with,’ and accept or approve. This illustration is based on Roman Catholic culture:  The dove of Holy Spirit and the wafer of holy communion are infusing the flow of the five senses, and flowing out from there to influence elsewhere.

Tarot Readings for You for February 7, 2013 Thursday(c)

Guidance   We see the humor in cranky people who demand it all from us.  We question ourselves as in “Why am I so irritable when I want to be lovable?”  We are self-deprecating in “Why would a discriminating wench like her want to love a dummy like me?” There’s an underlying feeling of life not having to make sense, it’s just the way it is.

Call me, Emily, at 1-800-993-6912 and talk to me personally and have yourself a live, in detail, Tarot Reading like no other you may ever have had before. Your call will support 500 acres of wild life in an animal sanctuary where I live and call home.

Also, don’t be shy about talking to the Community of Users in the comment section below. You’ll find this as the very last thing on this site. Trust me when I say we would *love* to hear from you!

GROUP ANALYTICAL TAROT CARDS READING

Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.

Headings [So you can choose which belongs to you]

Tarot Readings:  She Expects True Love (Queen of Swords + Ace of Cups)

Tarot Readings:  Unmet Demands (Queen of Swords + Ace of Cups)

Tarot Readings:  Really Wants to Be Accepted (Nine of Cups + Ace of Cups)

Tarot Readings:  She Expects True Love (Queen of Swords + Ace of Cups)

She wants true love from me?

How can she expect to get all the love she wants from me?

I think she loves me, I must be what she has in mind?

I think I’m in love with a demanding woman who is exactly what I want.

Why would a discriminating wench like her want to love a dummy like me?

She’s a nut and she’s a nag but she’s all I want to love me.

It’s strange, but I have the life I want loving this woman who complains.

Where’s his love for her, when she gives him everything he could want?

Bitches like her seem to get us to cooperate with whatever it is they want.

Tarot Readings:  Unmet Demands (Queen of Swords + Ace of Cups)

How easy is it to satisfy her demands?

Can I get this cranky woman to give me the love I want from her?

I wonder what she will do for me if I get her to be in love with me.

Why does he crave the love of such snarly dames?

Yes, I want the critical wench to love me, and I don’t know why.

I think I am going to cooperate with what is expected of me in order to get what I want.

Why am I so irritable when I really want to be lovable?

I don’t really know what I want, but am craving some kind of peace.

I want to make her happy but she wants to be unhappy.

Maybe it’s really the spiritual life you don’t have that you crave.

Things here don’t satisfy me.  I wonder how easily that satisfaction can be mine.

I expect to get everything in the world I want easily – why not?

Who’s going to go along with someone who wants it all for herself?

Maybe I don’t have what I want because I want God.

Tarot Readings:  Really Wants to Be Accepted (Nine of Cups + Ace of Cups)

I want to be accepted here:  The reward is great and the standard is high.

I really want to pass, and it seems much is expected of me.

I want them to approve of me, I wonder how strict they are.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

The very first thing that jumps out at you when you look at these four is the contrast between having it all, in Nine of Cups, and the dissatisfaction of not having what you feel should be yours in Queen of Swords.  This is what we have to work around – the reconciliation of these two posts.

Queen of Swords in Tarot Verbatim(TM) is the ‘bitch card,’ the demanding whining nag, the woman who has her hand out, the victim, the ex-wife. It’s being dissatisfied, cheated, self-sacrificing.  It’s also, though, the strong woman, the woman who is exacting, who sets stringent standards she expects of others … who does not tolerate nonsense.  She is often an older woman.  You don’t find her as this type in other Tarot systems.

Page of Cups is a comic figure, a fellow in women’s clothes who carries a fish in a cup and has a goofy look.  This card often puts the sentence he resides in into question form.  He is one of the ‘duh’ cards.  There’s an incredulous feeling to him.

Ace of Cups depicts flows and the infusion of Holy Spirit into the ‘five bodily humors’ of Middle Ages lore, or the five senses.  It is true love, God, good health, cooperation, going along with (whatever), and specifically means ‘harmless’ or ‘no harm.’  Watch for it as ‘hold harmless’ in your legal questions.

Nine of Cups is one of the simple cards, and means the same thing in any self-respecting deck:  “Your wish is granted.”  Love it when it shows up as a Self card:  It means the situation you ask about serves your benefit.  Most often it supplies the verb ‘want’ in some form.
