………………..……………… ….    Overlapping meanings complicate this reading with the same phrase arising from one card in one sentence, and from the other in the next. Today’s meanings are scattered, not cohesive. Eight of Wands and Star both mean talk. Star means talk a lot; Eight of Wands means ‘a lot.’ (It can mean to repeat.) Both Nine of Pentacles and Star are women who perform well: Nine of Pentacles is competent and Star is stellar performance and actually can translate ‘performance’ as one word. Star is happy and Nine of Pentacles is content. Both these women are doing well.

………………..……..Nine of Pentacles is the woman who has found her place and owns her turf. She is competent and content, and she is private – typically a single woman who lives alone. That’s a falcon on her left hand, which makes her a stand-in card for animal lovers. Nine of Pentacles is associated with a niche or specialty or expertise. She is also associated with not being approachable, and being attached to one place. She can have a home-based business, which can be agricultural like the vineyard in the picture. She doesn’t have to be well off, but she is comfortable with her means. Self-reliance and self-confidence are solidly hers.

Oracle Dessuart – a fine deck in my opinion, I’ve had six of them stolen – has a card dedicated to documents.

………………..……..Star is feeling good all over, happy, thrilled, in vibrant health. Star is confessing ‘I love you.’ She is ‘singing in the shower’ to me. Pictured is a woman performing a ritual bath. She is enthusiasm and enthusiastic. The cheerleader. Upbeat, even more than Three of Cups. Star is about talk. Not just talk but blurting out, gushing, babbling, the sales pitch, the pep talk, the inspired speech, the overflowing gratitude – even confessing. You talk too much, you won’t shut up. Star is joy in life, being happy, good news, and adoring someone or something.

Nine of Pentacles……… Nine of Pentacles is, like World, engaged in her own interests and disengaged from the outside world. She is private rather than self-engrossed, though: Nine of Pentacles not only minds her own business, but minds business. She is the businesswoman of the deck but is seldom in the story about a team or a deal. Her world is profitable and orderly, and she and her bird are content within it. Nine of Pentacles is single or single-minded. A home-based business is one of the places Nine of Pentacles pops up. I think of her as Jackie Kennedy.

Eight of Wands………….Eight of Wands is kinda miscellaneous, and its illustration doesn’t fit some of the meanings it shows up for. The ‘more and more,’ ‘over and over’ and ‘quickly’ meanings match the limbs flying in the air, and there are several sticks, so you could say that matches the way Eight of Wands spreads plurals to its companion cards. The ‘-er,’ ‘-est,’ and ‘-ier’ that it puts on ends of its neighbor cards mean ‘more’ or ‘increasingly,’ so that kinda fits. But all the communication meanings … where do they come from? Eight of Wands is one of the ‘say, tell, speak,’ etc. cards and it is the main – really the only – card for written communication – including texting and documents. You could say the boards look like lines. Eight of Wands often translates ‘things’ or ‘keep’ in the sense of keep doing, keep being, keep whatevering the next card is.

Star……….Star is bathing, performing, singing with great enthusiasm. Star means all those things plus feeling good and being in abundant health. Star translates ‘happy’ and gratitude. This is the card for musicians (more than Judgment, that simply shows a trumpet). Star is even saying ‘I love you’ and confessing how you really feel.
