That’s so easy to say, but our level of consciousness (i. e., who we are inside) directly affects the kind of people (hence the kind of events and circumstances) we attract. So we make connections we don’t realize we are making until we clean up our insides. Today’s blog goes a long way toward explaining how spiritual life affects lifestyle.

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

She isn’t putting up with lover’s hateful low-class family.

Am in this bad place for sick people quarantined or prevented from contact with the outside world. (Rehab again!)

Living in the slums complicates the gorgeous dame’s love life.

Spiritual Perspective: Connecting and Not connecting (Lovers + World)
Associating yourself with trashy disgruntled people drains and exhausts you unless you have some disconnect, some immunity to their griping quarrelsome ways.
When you are a loving person who connects to God, you have a buffer between yourself and the scenes and the people who are in the dark and are unloving to one another.
When you don’t connect with dark sides and you do connect with what is uplifting, you are in a world of your own invisible to people who would clutter your life with theirs.
Having gone through Dark Night of the Soul, people who are trouble just don’t connect with you, are not in your sphere.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
Five of Pentacles with Ten of Pentacles. Immediately you know this is about the back alley of people who are dysfunctional (Ten of Pentacles) and/or poor and miserable (Five of Pentacles). About being drained or brought down by a bad family life. It is about being broke, being ‘in darkness’ or being in the dark. Wah!
But not to worry: On either side of this sad declaration is World, who has no connection to low-consciousness, and Lovers, who is a connection to higher consciousness.
So this spread is about: Mind your Connections. Connect with what brings you up, and get away from what brings you down.
Notice that Ten of Pentacles represents (in human form) what World is not bothered by, and Five of Pentacles is doing without the light (the enlightenment) that appears in Lovers. Those pairs of cards are saying the same thing in opposite ways.
LEARN TAROT BY THE PICTURES
Lovers Connection. Especially beneficial connections. Someone (guardian angel) is looking out for you. Love is here. There’s Adam with the tree of life and there’s Eve with the snake in her tree. Higher consciousness connects a human to the divine, to God. But there’s that volcano (eruptions of passions) and that snake to deal with.
Five of Pentacles Been down so long it looks like up to me. When you just ‘don’t get it,’ you are poor, and poor in spirit. You don’t even know where your next meal is coming from because you just walked by it without seeing it (illustration). The consequences of poverty are dire, whether physical or spiritual poverty. This Rider Waite Tarot card, in Tarot Verbatim ™ is the opposite of Ace of Pentacles which shows a positive correlation between ‘the right path’ and ‘money in your hand.’
Dark Night of the Soul is a spiritual phase that precedes going into the next level up of consciousness. It is a time when you are dissatisfied with yourself and see the lack in yourself of what it is you are about to receive. Ste. Teresa d’Avila expounds on this ‘abandoned by God’ feeling in Interior Castles, considered the foremost mystical writing of Western culture by the folks in the universities who get to say that.
World has graduated into higher consciousness and lives on another plane from ‘the rest of us.’ World is being the kind of person trouble avoids, the person the mugger does not notice. World is truly being in a world of your own, dancing to an internal drummer. The wreath around the dancing figure represents the barrier between planes.
Ten of Pentacles This is where we live. This is the in-laws, the trash neighbors, the abusive marriage, the Mafia and the politicians we find ourselves in the midst of. It shows a family owned and operated by Elder Dude, who has decreed something to the couple beneath him in the hierarchy that has the wife earnestly beseeching the father of the little squalling darling pulling at her clothes, while father stares in another direction. (Personally, I think Grandpa wants another grandson.)
