Ace of Swords – Ace of Swords is in-your-face obvious with its meaning. A right hand grips a double-edged sword blade, held aloft in the (gray) sky, a sword that is not only crowned, but its crown sports laurel leaves. Okay, we get it: win and the winner, victory, dominance and The Boss, orders, number one, by force, must, no choice, you gotta, and The Challenge or The Test. You got it. That’s enough to know to apply Ace of Swords in your readings, and that makes it an anchor card.

Other ways Ace of Swords simple meaning apples are: a challenge; to overcome; absolute and absolutely; important and vital, and independence – ‘independence’ especially in today’s ‘Declaration of Independence.’

Four of Wands – A FEW things to remember to efficiently apply Four of Wands in your spread-of-the-moment. It’s not that obvious that you are looking at the public display of a wedding of a VIP family … but you are. Many of Four of Wands’ meanings grow directly out of this. Today, we have: in your marriage, marry, marriage, and a marriage partner. We also have: the family; my family background, and ‘be with the one I love.’

All the marriage cards in the Tarot Verbatim system expand to be groups of people and membership in those groups. They each can refer to ‘the public.’ Four of Wands and Ten of Cups are the ‘good people’ groups, and Ten of Pentacles is the ‘people who have a problem or people who are a problem’ groups.

Today’s spread exemplifies the fact that Four of Wands is ‘people,’ is groups of people, and membership in groups of people – which of course includes ‘family,’ but extends far, far beyond that. So, first, be aware of today’s application for Four of Wands: we, people, the people, the voters, be one of them, people you know., your side, your friends, your Company, your team and ‘I’m one of those people.’

Four of Wands shows a large house which could be a public building or an estate, (as does Six of Cups). Its meanings embrace both these scenarios. Four of Wands means ‘headquarters’ and also means the Company. It also means the home and the house.

Four of Wands refers, of course, to the respectable members of the community, as does Ten of Cups, and even (in a different way) Hierophant.
Judgment – Judgment has oh-so-many meanings arising from people jumping up out of their coffins when the angel blows his horn to awaken them to new life. (Each one of those words is a chapter in Judgment’s book.)

Naturally, Judgment means ‘again’ because the folks are alive again. That brings ‘new life’ to Judgment’s lexicon. It also means the prefix ‘re-‘ for the same reason. Re-do, rejuvenate, recover. On other days, it can mean to redecorate.

Well, we can presume those ex-dead people are moving on to something better, which brings Judgment all sorts of words about improvement. It also brings ‘suddenly,’ – a very common word for Judgment, but only once today.

A group of like-minded people banded together is powerful. ‘If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,’ popular wisdom says. *What everybody thinks* makes the world go ’round. + = like-minded people and = what everybody thinks. Four of Wands is everybody, and is a group. Hanged Man is ‘minded’ and ‘thinks.’ This is a good example of how Tarot Verbatim™ is unique. Other systems don’t bend this way. (For example Four of Wands as a building + Hermit as a doctor = hospital in Tarot Verbatim™.) Temperance, in its healing meaning, with Four of Wands would also say ‘hospital’ (or any other treatment center).
We know how influential that consensus is, but there’s always that Braveheart (Robert Russell) who is inspired to oppose the consensus and win … even at extreme risk … even posthumously.
Forced to realize what kind of people our neighbors are: That is a phase of the mystical calling we don’t talk about. (Uh, I refer to this, privately, as the ‘View Into the Pit.’) The mystical calling is about getting real and making a stand for what’s really actually ‘right’ and what works in the real world. As opposed to what’s politically correct, you know.
Four of Wands and Hanged Man are group consciousness, are ‘people who believe’ in the same thing. Four of Wands is a group of people; Hanged Man is awareness, including psychic or visionary awareness. Hanged man is mentality.
So that is our main theme here today: people-groups and their consciousness. With Ace of Swords (having none of it) present, we of course also speak of persons whose focus is to not get into this kind of mentality, who aim to keep an open mind and not join the tribe.
So today we look at both sides of the age-old question of whether to join ’em … the power people … or whether to defy them, maybe even intending to defeat them. Every day we make choices about this (choices about whether to go with or against the mainstream of what’s expected of us) in small things we don’t notice.

ACE OF SWORDS’ illustration follows its personality: forceful and ‘in your face.’ We see a double-edged naked blade upright and ready for business. It is not only crowned (powerful, power to enforce) but the crown is crowned with laurel leaves (total victory, which also means total defeat, depending on which side you put your money on).
So Ace of Swords (like Ace of Wands, its blood brother who holds the club aloft instead of the sword) means force, forced to, forcefully, enforcement, must, have to, ultimatum, command, an order, superior, superior power, powerful, as well as defy, militant, military, weapon, guarantee, of first importance, and even ‘make a point.’
FOUR OF WANDS’ illustration: You have to know this is a society wedding, a public occasion, held at headquarters of the clan in question. Leading families are united along with the couple – related now. Remember that, and you connect its otherwise-disparate meanings.
The ‘headquarters’ part makes Four of Wands refer to any building, including a home for the couple, including any public building or headquarters of a corporation or company. By extension, Four of Wands becomes not only the home but the neighborhood, city, county, state, country and world. Four of Wands can be all the people (in the world, even) who are interested in some particular thing: knitting to martial arts to … whatever.
In the same Way Four of Wands expands from the couple to the family to the people in the neighborhood, city, county, state, country and world. Four of Wands is the public! So Three of Pentacles and Four of Wands are ‘dealing with the public.’
Four of Wands is one of two positive marriage cards. Naturally it is the card for wedding. Ten of Cups is the other. Ten of Pentacles is the negative marriage card. All the marriage cards do this expansion thing I have described her. So Ten of Pentacles can be an international crime family, for instance.
Four of Wands is the us’ of ‘us and them.’ People who are family by way of citizenship, by way of any kind of belonging: the masses of people, the Establishment. Four of Wands is about unity in this way.
Four of Wands is the tribe, from the neighborhood to nations and international entities. It’s pretty much a mindset shared by people who identify with one another as members of it: us!
HANGED MAN The illustration reflects several ancient stories of heroes or gods who hanged themselves on trees in order to be enlightened. It reflects how we feel … upside-down with our hair on fire … when a totally new interpretation or perspective hits us in whole cloth. This experience originates in the all-seeing all-knowing subconscious that drops us a line occasionally.
‘Realize’ is Hanged Man’s favorite word. Intense feeling, or an idea that inspires, belong to Hanged Man. So does a thought striking, being aware of (whatever) and ‘getting it.’
Today we aren’t dealing in Hanged Man’s higher consciousness, or psychic impression. We barely touch on the instinct and intuition Hanged Man gets into, either.

Ace of Swords………. Ace of Swords is enforcement and victory. It stands for victory in which there is a defeat of an opponent, for orders either received or given, for asserting or aggression directed against something. Ace of Swords is a situation in which there is a winner and a loser, usually. It also often simply means ‘must’ or ‘have to.’ A hand holds a sword straight up which is doubly crowned, a crown and laurel leaves.

Four of Wands ………… A society wedding is a political occasion as the alliance between leading families. Four of Wands is groups of people, from a couple to a nation and beyond. It stands for factions and for, say ‘all the people who.’ Often, it translates ‘we’ and ‘they’ and ‘them’ and ‘us.’ It also means house, home, building, and public or government buildings or company headquarters.

Wheel of Fortune ………. Its cluttered illustration is not immediately informative. All the critters are spiritual influences that affect earth lives, including infernal ones. In the center, the Hebrew letters interspersed with the letters R, O, T, and A are the Name of God, that is Jehovah or Yahweh in English. The meaning of Wheel of Fortune, therefore, is that our physical lives on earth are affected by spiritual influences of all kinds. The center part looks like a roulette wheel, which helps Wheel of Fortune mean gambling, winning, luck (especially good luck) and coincidence. Fate, destiny, karma belong to Wheel of Fortune as well. Often, it translates ‘happening’ or ‘event.’
