Tarot Readings for You for March 25, 2015 Wednesday©

GUIDANCE     How boring would I be if I never had difficulties?, I ask myself today. The glories of the straight and narrow are not apparent until you aren’t paying the tolls on the roads to hell anymore. The jobs that pay well are difficult ones (one way or another). Achievements that are hard-won are the worthwhile ones. Business people know that the good money is in a product that takes a pain away. Everywhere you turn, making the best of the worst is a good investment.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the three cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined meanings of the three cards in the pictures in the Tarot Readings.  It explains how these cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – than a personal reading would give you. Also, pronouns are flexible: If the sentence feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ but you’re a ‘she,’ well, it’s yours.

*AND if you write names of any two cards into the Google search bar, it will give you meanings of those!

.……………….………..………..

Chariot – Ace of Pentacles – Devil

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

………………………       ‘Strange bedfellows,’ I said when I put these three down for our session today. Chariot and Ace of Pentacles are both stellar success. Devil is the problem, the trouble, the worst of it … and worse. Today is Devil lite day. Devil, in this company is being as good as a Devil can. Chariot is succeeding in spite of obstacles, and Devil is … yeah … an obstacle. Ace of Pentacles plays into this as the reward, as the straight-and-narrow, and as money.

………………………..     Chariot decides and acts upon the decision. He has the will to accomplish his purpose however that may be done. He is the one responsible for the success of the project, and he does succeed. A strategist, he uses every element of the equation to arrive at its solution. Inventive and even ruthless is Chariot: He delivers. I think of him as the Marines, which is close to what they were.

The picture is very stylized. You have to know charioteers were the war heroes of their day, the strategists. You should notice there are no reins and those are not ponies; they are magic sphinxes, and he controls their direction with his magic wands. (Definition of magic is ‘willpower.’) You should know sphinxes (mythical creatures, of course) have those reversed colors because some will turn only right, some will turn only left, and that’s it for sphinxes: They don’t go straight.

Our hero has hitched them to his wagon so that they are in one another’s way, and thus must tend to go forward by default. He is the strategist, right?

This picture depicts the idea of using factors that prevent you from getting there to get there, to achieve your purpose (or to deliver on the project you were hired to direct) despite all – and to ‘tack against the wind,’ – to use headwinds to get ahead. Today, we have a card that represents those adverse factors that are fodder for Chariot’s mileage. Devil is the adverse factors, is adversity, and is the adversary. To be a hero, you need an enemy, most of the time.

………………………..   Ace of Pentacles is a stylized Rider Waite Tarot card too: It pictures the ‘Right-hand Path’ of esoteric thought. The Right-hand Path is what Western civilization calls ‘the straight and narrow’ or ‘going straight.’ It depicts the idea that doing right is profitable. It is about the rewards of living honorably, in other words, and that can be applied to religious thought if the context is there to apply it. Today we have Chariot to bring out a vehicle on a road; we have Devil to bring out ‘right and wrong’ or ‘the best and the worst’; we have the idea that what is difficult (Devil) pays well (Ace of Pentacles). So Ace of Pentacles is success, is arriving at your goal – very similar to Chariot, except Chariot emphasizes what it takes to get there, while Ace of Pentacles emphasizes the reward of arriving.

You see, literally, the straight and narrow, and it’s gold to match the handful of gold coins held aloft the path. The trellis at the end of the path is victory, and the white lilies in the foreground represent purity.

Ace of Pentacles is about value too. It means things like ‘worth it.’ It can translate valuable, priceless, ‘owe my (whatever) to,’ and so on.

………………………..      Devil in Rider Waite is the medieval concept of the devil – the Horned One, with all sorts of satanic symbols and indicators so there’s no doubt. The human couple that is chained loosely to Devil’s perch look like Adam and Eve in Lovers, and Devil is above and between them in the same way the angel in Lovers overlooks Adam and Eve. The loose chains depict the concept that attachment to evil is voluntary, and you can get free at will. The upside-down torch in Devil’s hand represents ‘wrong use of force,’ or wrong use of life force. You could say it represents getting burned, or even hell-fire. The grapes on the tail of the human female could be picked up if your theme is an alcohol habit – because addiction and bad habits are Devil’s specialty. The horns of Devil are actually from a monster that became extinct in its large form, referred to as leviathan, which is a name Devil is called (I think) in the Bible. Archaeologists unearthed that monster.

Now, note our two cards here, Ace of Pentacles and Devil, both have alter-ego cards. Devil is paired with Lovers, as I explained. Ace of Pentacles (Right-hand Path) is paired with Moon (Left-hand Path). Both of them represent traditional concepts of good and evil. So this is a very moral and religious spread we have here. It would be more moral and religious if the third card in the spread were not so focused in real-world getting-things-done mode. Even so, we have the sinner (Devil) deciding (Chariot) to go straight (Ace of Pentacles). Put Ace of Cups in the place of Chariot, and you would have sermons. (You can research all these meanings by typing the two cards into a Google search bar.)

Also note that Ace of Pentacles is about possessing (my, mine, etc. – possessive pronouns) and Devil is attachment – another parallel these cards have in Rider Waite.

Difficulties are assets: That’s our main thought today. Get up (Quitcherbitchin’ as Ann Landers famously would say.) and grab hold of the bad situation with a strategy that you act upon until you’re done – until you have accomplished your purpose. We say the way to get something done is to do it right (to do right). We say that, to be a hero, an enemy or adversary comes in handy. To be an overcomer, you need something to overcome, right? We say willpower overcomes vices. We say it’s your problems and troubles that have made you what you are today regarding your successes. And we suggest this is a continuing process you’ve got in your hands right now.

.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

Chariot……….. Chariot gets ‘er done. He’s got an assignment or a purpose he has decided to accomplish, and he accomplishes it come hell or high water. This card too is on the esoteric side, but this time the human is in control of the spiritual force, is positioned above and between the mythic magical sphinxes. Chariot is about having self-control and hence being in control of events: ambition. (Strength also depicts this concept in a spiritual way.) Chariot’s focus is strategy, particularly strategic action that results in success, because Chariot’s chief meaning is success, accomplishment, and being the responsible one – the project manager.

Chariot’s picture, which I explained earlier in this presentation, represents strategy: The hero here has hitched the sphinxes (who travel only in a right turn or left turn) so they oppose one another’s directions, and are forced to go straight by default, so he can control them with his willpower, represented by his magic wands in place of reins. Success is when you get the forces that oppose you to oppose one another instead. Watch politicians apply this principle beautifully.

.

Ace of Pentacles…………. Ace of Pentacles is about success, money, reward, being right, being on the right track or right path, and also being on the road, or the road itself. It’s a leading card for money, and it means price, to owe, to pay, asset, to own or ownership itself (as in stockholders even), to hold or to have in hand, or to have something physically in your hands. It means value and valuable, even priceless. IT EVEN MEANS ‘YES,’ especially if you have a ‘yes or no’ question on the table. (NOTE: As the first Self card in a Celtic Cross spread, it says ‘yes’ so strongly that, if the rest of the spread contradicts that, you should quit Tarot for the day, or at least pick up that spread as valueless.) Along with ‘success,’ Ace of Pentacles means winning, especially when money is involved. Put it next to Wheel of Fortune, and you have won the lottery, since Wheel of Fortune is gambling and is also a lucky event.

.

Devil…………. Devil today is on its very best behavior as a foil to two cards that mean success, one of which also is about the right path, being right, being straight (Ace of Pentacles of course). Today Devil is the obstacle, the adversity, the problem to be overcome. Always remember Devil’s fairly innocuous meanings, such as attachment, physical, sex act, difficulty-trouble-problem, and wrong. Devil can be a very heavy hideous card in other company. Devil can be taken literally as demonic activity or presence; it can be cancer or other awful illness; it can be the worst kind of insanity; it is the lead card for brutality and oppression; and it brings out the worst in nearby cards too, like Moon does. In other decks, this may not be so. In Rider Waite, Devil is obviously the medieval Christian horns-and-tail brutal devouring spirit. In the Marseilles deck, I read, Devil is more the Norse concept of the mischievous one, Loki, a prankster.

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

.

………..………..………..………..

Devil – Ace of Cups – Three of Wands

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………  Devil and Ace of Cups are arresting together. You have love and hate, love and lust, God and the Devil, health and sickness, clean and dirty, bad and good, war and peace, physical and spiritual, conflict and cooperation. The other card indicates: income, the future or future tense, a continuum; it leaves the contrasts to be themselves, not altering them.

……………………….  Devil, we all know him. In Rider Waite, Devil is the ugly one of medieval myth, but the illustration shows servitude to its vices is voluntary on the part of those humans. ‘Wrong use of force’ is a very basic traditional meaning of this card in Tarot books, and that is expressed by the inverted torch. In Tarot Verbatim, you find it meaning force, and wrong. It can mean just about anything ugly, evil, dirty, bad, rude or brutish. It also means physical, and attachment – including any kind of fastener, like pages paper-clipped together. That meaning arises from the people being attached to the pedestal Devil squats on. It means problem, difficult and difficultly, prison, disability, limitations, perversions and derangement, illness, malignancy and malice, pain, hate, sometimes fear – any negative emotion, just about. A negative card with Devil often makes the phrase ‘not that bad’ or ‘it could be worse.’

…………………………   Ace of Cups is about God, divinity, Holy Spirit, and people spreading that influence. The dove, the wafer, the ‘W,’ the overflowing fountain are all Roman Catholic and Christian symbols. The water is mass consciousness. The five flows represent human life as five body fluids or the medieval ‘five humors.’ So you have the human infused with the presence of God (dove, wafer, maybe the ‘W.’) and channeling that influence into mass consciousness, hence to other people. Note that the water is depicted differently from the usual flood around something to indicate emotionalism; this water is calm and still. It’s divinity meanings come to the forefront here with Devil next to it.

Ace of Cups normally means, love, cooperation and agreement and going along with, good, in good shape, good health and healing, peace, accept, ease and easy and easy way, innocent, flow, and relax.

………………………… Three of Wands is inert here, a placeholder if you will. It supplies future tense (will, will be, going to, etc.), means income, and is also about continuing. You see a man calmly waiting for his ships to come in. The yellow where the blue of water should be is an ancient printer’s error that U. S. Games doesn’t correct. You see it in a few other cards too, like Judgment’s horn being the color of the angel’s mouth.

The interplay of good and bad is made simple and easy here, like cleaning up the dirt and like you always hurt the one you love. Accept it: There will always be a downside to the up, and an upside to the down.

Devil  ……… The loose chains around the necks of the couple attached to Devil’s pedestal say our bad habits and vices are voluntary, that we have them because we like them. Satanic symbols are on the figure’s head and hand, the bat wings go along with that, and the horns, I read, are from an ancient water monster archaeologists found, referred to as leviathan in ancient histories. Devil’s meanings are just about anything reprehensible, and it has some neutral meanings. Devil can simply translate ‘bad.’ It can mean worse, and worse case scenario. It can also mean ‘physical’ and ‘attachment,’ even an attachment to a document. Some of its reprehensible meanings are: problem, difficulty, downside, prison, disability, limitation, bondage, addiction, perversion, deranged, ugly, rude, brutish or brutal, illness, malignancy, pain, hate, fear, malice, and this list could go on forever.

.

Ace of Cups …………. Ace of Cups’ core meaning arises from the complex illustration of the Spirit of God (the dove) in a person (the five streams representing humans’ five senses) influencing (the streams flowing into the large calm body of water) other people and consciousness itself. The dove of course is Holy Spirit and the wafer of the Communion ritual in its beak. A large body of calm water represents mass consciousness. That core meaning is about love, good influence (good anything), cooperation, health and healing.

From there, you have true love, unconditional love, getting along, peace, being in agreement, being at ease and taking it easy.

.

Three of Wands ………. Three of Wands isn’t busy today; it’s a bystander. It most common meanings of future tense, future, continuing, and income are all there is to it today, in this heavy company.

Tarot Readings for You for December 17, 2014 Wednesday©

GUIDANCE      It’s always something. There’s always that one thing, that one part of something, where things jam up. She’s a great gal but …; he’s a great guy but …; it’s a great appliance or car or thing but …. We had our mind all made up and then …. I have this one bad habit, this one fault. I made this one (big?) mistake … and I won’t do that again. The glitches are a call for change. The hangup is a challenge to discover what factor caused it. We recover, we always do, and after a big bad cuss word, we know a better way to get to the other side. If you see this pattern which is everywhere all the time, the next aggravatin’ thing can be amusing. What next?, we confidently ask, because, well, everything can’t go right; that would break Murphy’s Law. And the movie of life seems to be about Murphy’s Law, a lot, doesn’t it?

Tarot Readings: Looking at a Bad Thing (Knight of Pentacles and Devil)

In light of a problem, we get a bright idea.

The next time the malfunction happens, look into it.

A remark calls attention to a bad habit.

When you look for it, just one error comes to light.

Look at it this way: You have recovered from a lot worse.

In the next phase, there’s that one difficult part.

There’s one wrong thing I shall change.

A big bad cuss word on my mind right now.

Just one bad habit I am changing.

One thing is for sure: You don’t repeat a big mistake.

That rough fellow coming back to you would be a bad thing.

Going back would be the biggest mistake you ever made.

Making the same mistake the second time: That’s what I am considering.

.

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

Knight of Pentacles – Devil – Judgment

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………     We are about keeping an eye out for where the hitch is today, and we have the attitude that it’s always going to be there somewhere; and we have the idea that it’s our job to see it coming and fix things back the way they were to have been. We have the idea that’s okay; we accept the task; we accept that responsibility.

………………………..     Knight of Pentacles is on the lookout, is focused. See him pay attention in the picture. Today, he’s looking for the risk factor like a good risk manager does; and he’s looking for it with getting his purpose accomplished in mine. Whatever it is, he is going to get over the hump – because he has the energy and he has the mind to … the stubborn mind to.

………………………..     Devil, he’s in the details, they say, like the snake is in the woodpile. That’s one reason to wear gloves when you chop wood. Rider Waite’s Devil is the one of Christian medieval lore, the hideous-looking one who enslaves that man and woman so well they proudly wear the (loose) chains. Devil is our bad habits, our limitations, especially the self-imposed ones that make our life ugly. Devil represents the downside, any downside – even means ‘disadvantage’ at times. Devil is ‘the devil you know’ that you stay with in spite of *whatever it is you know*. Devil is a cuss word when it’s next to a ‘talk’ card like Judgment. Most often, Devil is the problem, the wrong, the fault, the vice, addiction or bad habit. New Age lore calls Devil the shadow side. Sickness, including mental illness, and disabilities are Devil’s province too. Naturally Devil means stuck, imprisoned, benighted or impaired – including mental impairment, of course. But on a good day Devil just means attachment, obligation, physical and maybe ugly.

………………………..   Judgment is the rescue card, the repair card, in this spread. It means change, so it changes the emphasis on the downside the other two make. It means recover and discover and go back to the way it was, which puts a nice damper on Devil and on the focus (Knight of Pentacles) upon its dark applications. You could say Judgment is life after Devil, since it depicts the resurrection.

……….…………..      Knight of Pentacles and Devil    Knight of Pentacles and Devil are a focus on the downside, the dark side – could even be obsession with some vice or hate. Being mindful of what could go wrong is another application for these two. Knight of Pentacles would be the focus, the obsession and the ‘mindful.’ Devil would the the downside, the dark side, the vice or hate. (Both Knight of Pentacles and Devil mean obsession, by the way.) You can see ‘You know’ (Knight of Pentacles) ‘you are wrong’ (Devil). Note that these, along the same line, mean ‘focus on an obligation’ or ‘on difficulties.’ You could just say ‘feeling obligated’ too, along the lines of Knight of Pentacles being so sure of something. Devil means ‘have to’ by way of its ‘force’ spectrum of meanings – being forced to is having to. So Knight of Pentacles and Devil can mean I think I have to, since obviously Knight of Pentacles means I think or I am convinced. I like ‘So wrong,’ Devil, ‘and I was so sure,’ Knight of Pentacles. You see yourself (Knight of Pentacles) as the bad guy (Devil). You see (Knight of Pentacles) where you went wrong (Devil). The guy who did you wrong is right here too. Then there’s ‘the chief limiting factor’: The chief (Knight of Pentacles in its ‘important’ spectrum) limiting factor (Devil in its ‘disadvantaged’ or ‘limited’ spectrum). Stronger … Knight of Pentacles is strong of body … after an illness, Devil. Knight of Pentacles is pigheaded, stubborn, so ‘Being stubborn is my biggest vice,’ Devil. We can be looking at or paying attention to (Knight of Pentacles) a bad thing (Devil). We can be calling attention to a bad habit – Knight of Pentacles is about attention, and Devil is a bad habit. (The ‘calling’ part is Judgment.) When you look into it, there’s just one (Knight of Pentacles) error (Devil). There’s that one (Knight of Pentacles) difficult part (Devil). That rough fellow (Knight of Pentacles) would be a bad thing (Devil). Then there’s the biggest mistake you ever made because Devil is a big mistake, and Knight of Pentacles is that one important thing.

………..…………..    Knight of Pentacles and Judgment   Knight of Pentacles and Judgment are determined to change, are on the lookout for something to shift. Knight of Pentacles is the determination, the lookout and the mind. Judgment is the change and the shift.

They also say ‘change of mind’ or ‘change of perspective.’ Can you therefore see ‘Refocusing’? ‘See and change’ these say too. They also say ‘You bounce back’ (Judgment) stronger (Knight of Pentacles). Knight of Pentacles sees … the legal (Judgment). You also say (Judgment) what you think or know (Knight of Pentacles). And when I say it (Judgment), you get it (Knight of Pentacles as understanding). I admit (Judgment) being stubborn (Knight of Pentacles as opinionated). Just one thing to change.

……………………      Devil and Judgment     Devil and Judgment describe realizing you are wrong and changing. They describe recovery from illness or sudden onset of illness. They describe discovering what the problem is, or what the limiting factor is. They say the bad guy (Devil) reforms (Judgment) or has a change of consciousness. They say ‘legally bound’ because Judgment is of course legal, and Devil is definitely about being bound. They say you have to, or are obliged to, go back: Devil as having no choice, therefore obliged; Judgment as ‘go back.’ Here, also, is where you say (Judgment) “I’m wrong,” Devil. You also admit, Judgment, you biggest vice, Devil. The next time (Judgment) a malfunction (Devil) happens …. You have recovered, Judgment, from a lot worse, Devil. It’s the next phase (Judgment) that’s difficult (Devil). Repeating (Judgment) a big mistake (Devil). Here’s a fun one: Cuss word. Judgment is ‘word,’ to speak. Devil is, of course, cussing. Going back (Judgment) would be a big mistake (Devil). The same thing a second time (Judgment) … referring to a mistake (Devil).

Up pops the devil, people say, and that’s the way it seems. Just when everything is going smoothly, the phone rings and it’s on to some other (damn) thing until you work your way back to what was going smoothly. Some people are more rattled and discombobulated and irritated more than others. Some people seem to take petty annoyances in such beautiful patient stride … and they are not all patient people, either. Some people feel so entitled to finish what they started that a disrupting or interrupting event affects their metabolism. I hate that, and it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m going to remain calm … damn it.

.

Knight of Pentacles……… Knight of Pentacles is so good at minding his own business: It’s all he thinks about. He is not distracted; he is focused and has his energy behind that focus. You see bodily energy in him, and in his horse: They are buddies, you can just tell. Knight of Pentacles is famous for concentration, for being on the lookout, for having one interest. He could be a one-woman man, even.

.

Devil………….   Devil represents the dark side and the down side – any of it. The illustration depicts the tendency of humans to voluntarily serve their lowest consciousness, which is what the loose chains represent. The best (least objectionable) meanings for Devil are attachment, obligation, and physical. It can mean ‘forced to,’ but not very often; better ways for Tarot to say that. Its frequent translates are: worse and worst, problem, vice, addiction, bad habits, hate, cruelty, brutal, brute, force, limitations and impairments and disabilities of any kind – physical, mental, whatever – prison, stuck, benighted (senile, demented, deluded, guttersnipe, scum-ball etc.), evil, disadvantage, downside, dark side, enslaved, disabled or disabilities, and I’m probably leaving some out after all that.

.

Judgment………….   Judgment is life after all that, a new lease on life, a new consciousness, enlightenment, a new phase. Judgment is going back to normal – recovery, revival, renew, remind … a whole lot of ‘re-‘ words. Its main meaning is change, and almost always it is change for the better.

Tarot Readings for You for December 8, 2014 Monday©

GUIDANCE     Everything feels new when you recover and you revive. Here we have the dark side educating us about our contents, making us stronger. An obsession sprouts an epiphany. Sometimes seeing is changing, but sometimes we make the same blunder again. A recurring malfunction gets our attention, doesn’t it, like a squeaky wheel. We recover strength and are at a new level or new phase. Let’s focus on the chief limiting factors of the new phase first, so as to get to the next one.

.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.

.

……………….………..………..

Knight of Pentacles – Devil – Judgment

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………   A glance at these three, and you’re glad to see Judgment. Both Knight of Pentacles and Devil have a spectrum of brutish meanings to themselves:

………………………..         Obsession, ruffian or tough guy for Knight of Pentacles,

………………………..    and ‘bad’ anything for Devil: It means worse, mistake or blunder, sickness, vice, addiction, hate, problem and trouble, dark side, etc. Devil can mean ‘obsession’ too.

..      Knight of Pentacles and Devil have better meanings than that, of course, but these are what they bring out when they get together, like two kids who behave around other children, but not when they pair up.

………………………..    And Judgment is a change, recovery, a new level or phase, or new life. (Judgment is a relief card here.)

………..…………..   Knight of Pentacles and Devil  Knight of Pentacles and Devil’s lesser-included or more positive applications are about concentrating on the problem – phrases like ‘One thing is for sure: It would be a big mistake’ and ‘Look at it this way: It could be worse.’

..    Then, for Knight of Pentacles and Devil, there is having something on your mind like sex, a bad habit or vice, the fellow who did you wrong, a rough and crude fellow, considering the downside, an idea that comes ‘the hard way.’ Yes, these are the more upbeat, or less downbeat, meanings for Knight of Pentacles and Devil.

………..…………..      Knight of Pentacles and Judgment Knight of Pentacles and Judgment says ‘There’s one thing I shall change’ because Knight of Pentacles is determination, concentration and strength, and Judgment is change. You could say ‘grim determination to change,’ with Devil lurking between these two cards. Knight of Pentacles reads ‘making’ a change as well, with that one-idea-in-my-head that your Knight of Pentacles phase gifts you with. These two also say ‘You are strong; you recover’ because Judgment obviously means recovery, with that illustration of people standing up from their graves. ‘Recover your strength’ is another way that idea might be expressed.

..  Knight of Pentacles is self-centered, so he has a whole new view of himself when Judgment joins him.

..  Knight of Pentacles is the bad-boy type (Don Johnson in Miami Vice) and Judgment means to return or come back so ‘that bad-boy comes back.’ Subtle factors influence these interpretations: For instance, the bad-boy returns, comes back; he doesn’t leave even though that would be a change too, and a change for the better. These two cards are not the way Tarot would say the bad-boy leaves. Some things are just experience.

..  With Judgment also contributing ‘says,’ the bad-boy says (whatever).

..   Knight of Pentacles   also means a person’s perspective, so it reads ‘in light of’ and Judgment becomes ‘a whole new idea.’ Knight of Pentacles means ‘is interested’ so with Judgment he is interested in something again. He is focused, and Judgment means ‘re-‘ words, so you have ‘refocus.’

……………………       Devil and Judgment  Devil and Judgment can mean getting out of trouble, getting out of a bad place – but sometimes can mean getting into these things if the context (the question and/or surrounding cards) declares that. Here’s why you need to peek at the companion cards to make sure: Judgment means ‘to return’ and also ‘to change’ as well as ‘a new phase.’ Usually, since the change in Judgment’s picture is about a new better life, a good change, the ‘getting out of’ meanings apply.

..   When you take Judgment as legality the devil makes it say ‘found guilty’ or ‘pleads guilty.’ These also say ‘admit being wrong.’

..   Devil can simply mean physical and attachment (even a paper clip).

..   Sometimes Devil means sex, with an emphasis usually on down-to-earth or down-and-dirty sex, so with Judgment and Devil, you’re having nitty-gritty sex again.

This is another one of those ‘creative uses for bad situations’ days. Being forced to analyze the trouble you find yourself in is the way out of it. Concentrating on a problem, you find yourself changing, and changing the problem. This happens before we know it sometimes, like a switch is flipped. You wake up with that ‘Oh, so THAT’S the way it is; I DON’T THINK SO!’ attitude, an attitude that is actually a shift of consciousness. I call this process ‘creative hate’ and have written about that concept, and counseled people with it.

.

Knight of Pentacles……… Knight of Pentacles, see, is a tough, focused guy with a lot of physical energy … maybe too much energy, and maybe too much focus. Often, this is a guy with muscles. I think of him as Don Johnson in Miami Vice. He has one thing on his mind: That is a common phrase for him. He is determined, maybe obsessive. His stereotype is the short dark opinionated driven fellow who may be on the thuggie side. Sometimes, he is a one-woman man. He aims to get something done, quite often, and more by his own doing than, say, Chariot, who has a crew.

.

Devil …………. Devil in Rider Waite is the hairy scary creature of medieval Christian myth, the guy with the horns, bat wings, and satanic symbols. So naturally this Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ means any kind of bad, wrong, brutish, rude, nasty, rude thing you can think of: Just look at the portrait here. The card often means ‘worst’ or ‘worse.’ Today it lent ‘hellbent’ to a humorous sentence.

It means obstacle or ‘limiting factor,’ and things that would limit a person, like illness, a snarly personality, etc.

Always keep in mind that this card also means ‘physical’ and ‘attachment.’ It can mean sex, good nitty-gritty sex. It can mean something is chained or tied, maybe an animal.

‘Wrong use of force’ is its traditional meaning in many Tarot books, and it does mean ‘forced to’ and ‘no choice but to’ sometimes. The main esoteric meaning of Devil is that whatever one is attached to or enslaved to is voluntary – that you can walk out of those shackles if you just decide you are going to – which, if you look at today’s spread, is exactly reproduced here.

.

Judgment…………. Judgment in this spread makes it include an angel and a devil – just incidentally. Judgment’s full spectrum is used in today’s layout. The angel wakes the dead to life, which of course is a change, a new phase, and a return (to life). It is also an awakening. Put this Tarot Verbatim™ card next to Hanged Man or High Priestess, cards that represent cosmic or spiritual consciousness, and you are describing a major enlightenment, most of the time, depending upon the question and surrounding cards.

The horn brings in loud noise, announcement (or any form of ‘to speak’ like say, tell, etc.). It is also an alarm, including waking up to an alarm clock.

The ocean or body of water represents consciousness, so Judgment means ‘a new consciousness,’ which brings up discovery, revelation, suddenly realize, and such.

The dead coming to life introduces recovery, revive, and any re-do or ‘again’ situation. ‘Re-‘ words belong to Judgment.

Tarot Readings for You for September 25, 2014 Thursday(c)

Guidance    Today we are musing upon the back-and-forth trajectory of our lives on earth, and pointing out the fun of that.  It’s one kind of fun to fall off the wagon of, say, a bad habit, and another kind of fun to get back on the horse that threw us: Each are chapters.  There’s a time to be responsible, even to run the rat race, and a time to be irrepressible, uninhibited and spontaneous.  That’s called vacation or ‘blowing this joint’ sometimes. Today we suggest that both directions have their place, that striking a balance even day by day is ‘good for us.’ All work and no play, you know – or all play and no work – make Jack a boring kid.

Devil – Sun – Knight of Swords

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………     Devil is very general in its application, and its various applications rule here because the other two Tarot cards (Sun and Knight of Swords) both mean to get out of, and one (Sun) means specifically to be free of. So our general theme is getting out of something troublesome – except for that double meaning of Knight of Swords: to go back, to revert, to turn back. Knight of Swords also says ‘again.’ So we will have some exceptions to our theme of getting out of the bad place.

………………………..   Devil’s core meanings are attachment and vice in Rider Waite. (Rider Waite arises unapologetically from Christian culture.) See the loose chains around the necks of its humans there? Their attachment to the dark side or down side (or their vices) is voluntary.

Another major category of meanings for Devil is limitations. Limitations brings many otherwise-unrelated meanings for this Rider Waite Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™. Handicap, harmful habits, addictions, illness and mental illness, pain and suffering, nasty rude ornery personalities, black moods and depression, being forced or having no choice, being stuck, fear, and paralysis (including paralysis of will).

Of course Devil means evil and bad – the dark side in general. This brings in meanings such as filth, contagion, contamination, toxic substances or environment, mold and fungus, noxious smells and substances (and people). It also brings in guilt and sin and literal demons as well as figurative demons. Devil’s illustration shows the influence of evil due to connection it, with the devil. Devil is ugly too – and the ugly side of things.

(Now go look at Lovers. This card takes the same idea re connection with things divine. You see the two nude humans drawn in a similar way to Devil. This parallel was obviously intended by the artist and the designer of the deck. Christian concepts abound in Rider Waite. (Note there are no chains on Adam and Eve in Lovers). This same type of parallel is to be found in Ace of Pentacles, Right-hand Path, and Moon, Left-hand Path. The guardian angel overlooking the couple represents protection of the divine – instead of chains being the connection in Devil.)

…………..…………..      Knight of Swords is moving fast, is in hot pursuit of something. It can mean to turn around fast and go in the opposite direction, and even to flee, so this is not a lead card; it is a support card for the themes it includes. Change is one of its major meanings – sudden change, a change of mind. It means to switch, even to switch back and forth (with other cards saying that too), and it means ’emergency.’ A rule of thumb is Knight of Swords’ movement involves a desirable destination, whether it is getting out of something or pursuing something. His movement also is his own volition, his own idea, even if he is fleeing. Look at his face in the picture: He is onto something, leaning ahead in the saddle.

(Briefly, Knight of Wands is a very similar card, is more likely to be ‘getting out of Dodge,’ to be pursued rather than to be choosing to speed along. He looks panicky, whereas Knight of Swords looks animated to ‘get ’em.’ Nevertheless, Knight of Wands can show up for hot pursuit as well. Both Knight of Swords and Knight of Wands are in a hurry.)

………………………..     Sun is leaving, for sure (which makes Knight of Swords more likely to be getting out of something too). Here is Sun’s story: Funloving reckless boychild ducks out of the the house and its rules, naked, to cavort bareback on a wicked pony … and not even hold on. He has this huge banner in one little hand. Irresponsible and immature or juvenile. This is the callous reckless just-wanna-have-fun playboy who will leave before the ‘house rules’ of a relationship limit his juvenile pleasure. This is fun in the sun, vacation, time off, enjoyable activity. This is childhood issues, child and children in general, and of course being childish. This is uninhibited, spontaneous, a fun or charming person.

……….…………..     Devil and Sun   The many and varied core meanings of Devil and Sun create all the different titles in our spread today. Knight of Swords is the seasoning in their stew, turning their meanings on and off. Without a question, we say a whole lot of things here. More than I wrote about.

……..……………   Sun and Knight of Swords     share many of the same phrases, ones about leaving, getting away, and life being changed for the better. In the illustrations, Sun leave the house and Knight of Swords leaves town. Both are quick leavings.

Falling off the wagon can be fun, and it’s also a pleasure to get back on and be free of the downside of a bad habit. Our spread embraces both equally! The point of today’s message, therefore, is to look for changes rather than a steady direction in life, and an underlying message is to get back on the horse you fall off of and enjoy the ride whichever way you are headed at the moment, because, hey, you’ve got some reins there.

Devil   ……… Devil is someone we all know, and is found in our attachments frequently. The loose chains are the key feature in the drawing’s meaning: Your attachments, your habits, what holds you back: All voluntary! This is one of the most general cards: Name something awful, any downer, and it’s likely to mean that. But it has neutral and positive meanings too, meanings like: physical, bond, ‘attachment ‘ in the legal sense (exhibit attached, for instance) or in the simple sense of being clipped with a pin or paper clip. It means sexual and sex – not just lust. It can just mean ugly or the word ‘bad.’ It can mean obligation, burden, and onerous, which borders upon dutiful and duty.

It can represent ‘dirty’ as a word, even, say, getting dirty working hard. Of course ‘dirty’ in the pornographic senses too. So Devil is not the first card you look at, not a theme setter: Look around for a card whose meaning is more focused for that.

.

Sun  ……….   The whole spectrum of ‘fun’ belongs to Sun, from child’s play to a callous fling. Reckless uninhibited self-centered charmers are Sun. Cutting loose and enjoying yourself – spontaneity – is Sun. Kids are Sun. Sunshine is Sun. Getting free and getting out of the house (or out of a suffocating job) is Sun. Getting out from under the restrictions that hold you back is Sun. Breaking the rules is Sun. Reckless behavior (and the chance you take) is Sun. Anything about child or children is Sun.

.

Knight of Swords ………. emphasizes speed, rush, hurry, and avid pursuit. It also is about leaving, getting out, getting over something – all of which are by choice. Knight of Swords is about going in the opposite direction too, or making a U-turn. Change is featured, which brings such phrases as ‘makes a difference,’ unexpectedly, last-minute, emergency – and changeable, of course.

Tarot Readings for You for August 24, 2014 Sunday(c)

Guidance    We are so imprinted with bad versus good that that circuit tends to hop in and grab the steering wheel of any thought of ours that is vaguely its shape. Good versus evil is the outline of every work of fiction, I guess. Humans are kids way too long, and this deep-set idea comes from being good and bad boys and girls. Good versus evil is a significant portion of the fuel of us versus them; and us versus them is the bane of human history, the bane of our human experience. Yes, he’s the bad guy – a bastard, even, say – but, statistically speaking, can all his ideas be all wrong; and are all the good guy’s ideas necessarily all right? We are grownups now, in theory at least, so let’s pry our minds open and listen up. It won’t hurt.

………………….………………….

Tower – Hanged Man – Devil

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………   Immediately, you see ‘destruction of evil’ here, with Hanged Man as seeing or realizing it.

………………………..    Hanged Man is a realization, a vision, a revelation, an epiphany, an idea or feeling that can be intense and is probably sudden.

………………………..    To its left is Tower as the destruction of evil – you know, the Tower of Babel.

………………………..       To its right is Devil, which of course represents evils of all sorts.

……………….……….     Tower and Hanged ManTower’s meaning of suddenly, dramatically changing and being struck (or striking) attaches to the ‘mental’ meaning of Hanged Man, to create another stream of thought about: a thought striking, sudden change of mind, being hit in the head, brainstorm, lightning setting hair on fire, radical idea, sudden revelation.

………………..……….…   Hanged Man and Devil  Devil‘s meaning of wrong, evil, dirty or nasty attaches to the ‘mental’ meaning of Hanged Man to create: wrongheaded, evil or dirty mind, bad idea, being turned on (Hanged Man of course) by porn, seeing (yourself) as the bad guy.

……….……….……….  Tower and Devil And of course Tower and Devil are destruction of evil, and all the equivalent phrases these ideas produce. Things like damage done by criminals, breaking something being a bad thing, confronting people who misbehave, rejecting something that is wrong or in some way objectionable, and also mean things like a wreck with injury, a nasty confrontation, blasting through an obstacle, a breakthrough about some problem, ejecting an offender from a house or building, destroying the enemy, rejecting the ugly, and it’s wrong to hit. I could go on.

.

.

We invite ourselves to look a little deeper into our categorizations of what’s okay and what’s wrong, suggesting that assumptions abound there that impede our clear vision. We picture the epiphanies we all get at times about this – that sudden impression that something is, is not, or may not be as good or as bad as our mindset about it. Intuition does us all this favor, but it needs all the help it can get.

.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

Tower ………   Tower is one of those cards that violates the Laws of Random Distribution by not showing up very often. You can count on its attendance when there’s a divorce, though, along with Three of Swords. Pictured is the history in the Bible and in other ancient records about the destruction of the Tower of Babel, an early attempt at one-world government. That’s how it comes to mean destruction of evil, because the tower there was considered evil. Tower is overthrow, hitting, suddenly, confrontation, drama, blasting through or any kind of explosion including the temper kind. It is about being thrown out, evicted, or ejected from a house or room or building. Tower is about rejection and rejecting and about an eruption of emotion, almost always negative. It also stands for a spurt of sudden flow of liquid – even spitting or an aneurism.

.

Hanged Man ………….   Hanged Man has so many phrases because it means any kind of awareness that isn’t mechanical and mundane. He kind of boils down to ‘vibes.’ Hunches, psychic perception, ‘getting it,’ being turned on, feeling disoriented by a new slant on things, any paranormal process – an inkling, an urge, a feeling in your gut, a little birdie told you, ‘click,’ having radar for something. The inspiration of the muse belongs to Hanged Man, of course. Hanged Man represents the junction of the conscious and subconscious minds.

.

Devil ………. Devil in Rider Waite is the Mr. Horns and Tail of Christian mythology. In real life, he would have to be nice-looking to deceive us, methinks, and I don’t know anyone who conceives of ‘devil’ as this picture here; do you? Illustrated this way, Devil means all things wrong and evil, similar to Moon. See the loose chains around the necks of the couple there? They draw the word ‘attachment’ to this card, and it sometimes means a paper clip. The deeper meaning of Devil is that our vices are voluntary habits that we can slip out of if we choose. You often find Devil meaning obstacle, problem, trouble, ugly and other ordinary terms.

Tarot Readings for You for August 16, 2014 Saturday(c)

Guidance   Today we take our worries out and play with them, make fun of them, expose them to the light of what’s really up. Having nothing to worry about, we point out, gives us that apprehensive feeling. Be so afraid of fear that you don’t go there. Stress itself isn’t the problem … duh. Worried about your looks? – you’re not ugly enough to qualify for that. Scary things aren’t scary unless you’re afraid of them. Things like ending a bad habit come with a price of some stress … so what? You’re not as ill as you imagine you are, usually. You’re not letting an obnoxious scene get on your nerves. And look back: Your worst worries never happened; right? So what are you worried about now?

Two of Swords – Devil – Nine of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….………………..….    Today is a great example of what lovely work a negator card can do. Today we have Devil, terrible things, and then ‘terrible things’ are modified by ‘worried about’ and by ‘not going to happen.’ Those two cards let us off the Devil hook.

………………………..    When you see one ‘bad’ card, hope for another one that may cancel it out, or even better, hope for a negator like Two of Swords. Just remember that ‘not dead’ is two negative cards and ‘dead’ is just one.

………………………..    Today, for example, Nine of Swords modifies all the terrible things Devil can mean with simply being worried about them; then we go even farther and have Two of Swords say it isn’t happening anyway. So if you see the Devil, you want to see negators or another ‘bad’ card that tones him down. Today, we have both: Luck is with us.

………………………..    Two of Swords is a dead stop. It says ‘no way.’ Pretty easy to see that: Its drawing looks like a railroad crossing sign.

…….……….……..     Devil and Nine of Swords   Devil and Nine of Swords are scary cards. As a matter of fact, they each can mean ‘scary.’ Their illustrations are downers. Together, they can say ‘Fear fear itself.’ When you add Two of Swords to that, you have ‘Nothing to fear but fear itself.’ And three negative cards said that.

………………………..   Devil is one of the Tarot cards that means ‘worst,’ and means illness – very similar to Moon; and both of these are about evil spirits, black magic and such as well. Devil means anything awful, hideous, egregious, heinous … and means those words as well. Anyway, Devil means physical, sex, attachment and obligation – not just bad stuff. Like always, his behavior depends upon the cards around him.

……………………….. Devil in Rider Waite is the Christian horns-and-tail creature, and therefore has meanings like that. Go over to the Marseilles deck, and Devil is more the Norse god of mischief, Loki, a prankster.

………………………..    Nine of Swords’ illustration speaks for itself, as Two of Swords’ does. Up in the middle of the night in bed with the lights out, hands to head in the classical grief or headache pose. Clearly, it means fear, worry, angst, the jitters, stress, nightmare and bad dreams.

……………………….. Two of Swords gets busy and cleans house as it attaches itself to either Devil or Nine of Swords. This is the bulk of our readings here. This is ‘Don’t worry.’ This is ‘It’s not that awful.’

Today’s truth is that bad experiences and problems are separate from the angst associated with them. Being afraid or worried just adds to the problem, so why let yourself get into that emotional or physical (because fear and worry are body chemistry, you know) state? Psychopaths and great saints both have the knack of separating what is happening from the feelings the happening can cause.

Two of Swords ……… End of the line. The buck stops here. It all stops here. No admittance. No. Two of Swords is one of the negator cards, and its meaning is obvious. Think Railroad Crossing. The blindfold makes it say ‘don’t see’ fairly often too. Refuses to see. Won’t let myself too – seeing as how she probably voluntarily grasped those heavy blades.

.

Devil…………. Devil is not Mr. Horns and Tail of Christian mythology in every deck, but he is in Rider Waite, and that is where its meanings come from. Bad, worse, worst, sickness, disability, pain and suffering, hate, brutality, cruelty, war, heinous, grievous – all the bad stuff belong to Devil. However, in good company it can simply mean attachment, sexual attraction, physical, obligation, mistake, and mere rudeness. The illustration’s point, with the chains being loose on the couple, says that bondage to vice is voluntary.

.

Nine of Swords………. Up in the middle of the night in bed with the lights out, hands to head in the classical grief or headache pose. Clearly, it means distress, guilt, worried sick, fear, worry, angst, the jitters, stress, nightmare and bad dreams. Once in a while it will join a ‘night’ theme and simply reflect that whatever the subject of the inquiry is did happen in the dark hours.

Something awful happens, and you can honestly feel very sorry for yourself; then something else happens that turns that circumstance into a blessing: You meet true love in the dungeon of despair. Treatment for your ailment forces you into good health habits. Don’t sort out your blessings and your curses too early, you know? – the end of the book determines whether your autobiography is a tragedy or an adventure.

Tarot Readings: Silver Lining of a Dark Cloud (Devil and Ace of Cups)

As sick as you are, eventually you are in good health.

After all that pain, I actually feel pretty good.

Good health is only gradually harmed by bad habits.

A handicap that slows you down becomes a blessing.

Using my life of evildoing for good now.

For someone with your problem, you are in great shape.

Treatment for your ailment forces you into good health habits.

So sorry for myself when something awful happened, but it was for the best.

Punishment is always for your own good.

Suffering that I put up with is good for my soul.

Too much of a bad thing is a good thing. [Mae West]

In my hardest times, I am still grateful.

I love the ugly ones the most.

….………..….………..

Tarot Readings: The Dark Lining of the Silver Cloud (Devil and Ace of Cups)

Too much of a good thing is bad.

Going with the flow, you eventually encounter an obstacle.

Even the easy studies are difficult in their late stages.

Loving too much hurts.

Being healthy is difficult, is a steady effort.

This true love relationship is so difficult it’s my cross to bear.

They always hate it when they love unconditionally.

….………..….………..

Tarot Readings: When Life is Very Very Hard (Devil and Ten of Wands)

It’s hard work to put terrible wrong to its highest and best use.

For better or for worse” is the hard part.

Being disabled is a tough life at its best.

There’s no end to the grief of loving the wrong partner.

Right-and-wrong weighs on me heavily.

You suffer from being too damn loving.

You meet true love in the dungeon of despair.

We have the most love for those who suffer misfortune.

Help me make it through the night.

I am too ugly to be loved.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

.

………………….………………….

Devil – Ace of Cups – Ten of Wands

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

….…..………………………. Devil and Ace of Cups     Devil and Ace Cups … Are you kidding me? Devil can be the devil, of course, and Ace of Cups is about the presence of God, and means God. Neither of these are the main meaning of either card, but when they appear side by side here, you look at the third card for the application, the remaining card.

…………..………….. Ten of Wands means overloaded and overwhelmed, slow progress, gradual, too much, exhausting, difficult, and depressing. Hmm, we got some drama here but nothing definitive: no issue.

….…..………………………. Devil and Ace of Cups     Besides that, Devil is lust and Ace of Cups is unconditional love, true love. People usually think of lust as a bad thing, the opposite of love. (Really, it’s the main ingredient of romantic love. You could argue that lust is the past tense of love, of course.) So there’s another ‘Are you kidding me?’ about these two.

…………..…………..      And when you add the ‘too much’ of Ten of Wands, well, you have yourself some kind of drama.

….…..………………………. Devil and Ace of Cups     Round Three of ‘Are you kidding me?’ is Devil is being very sick, and Ace of Cups is being in perfect health.

….…..………………………. Devil and Ace of Cups     And Round Four would be Devil is impossible, a big problem, and Ace of Cups means easy, and no harm, no problem.

……..………………………… Devil and Ten of Wands    By the way, both Devil and Ten of Wands are about very difficult experiences and entities. Going along with the religious theme, Ten of Wands can say ‘my cross to bear’ because of the burden on his back.

.

.

So we make it through the night. Our sinful ways get us eventually to God. We find true love after suffering through wrong partners. We are healed of a dreadful illness and are healthy now. We say with Mae West too much of a bad thing is good, and we say too much of a good thing is bad.

Devil.multitasks. Today he is being the stereotype, the one we know, because he sits next to God in our spread. So he is wrong, evildoing, illness, mistake, obstacle, handicap, something awful, pain, harm, bad habits, problem(s), punishment, suffering, a bad thing, ugly, hurt, hate, and difficulty. He is ‘the wrong partner’ too because Devil means wrong (a lot) and the naked couple are (sex) partners. But Devil can mean ‘physical’ and can mean ‘attachment’ even in the ‘attachment to the email’ sense.

.

Ace of Cups.………... The illustration in Rider-Waite of Ace of Cups is a stylized representation (from St. Teresa d’Avila’s overflowing fountain of God’s love) of a human channeling Holy Spirit through (back then) ‘the five bodily humors’ but now ‘the five senses.’ So Ace of Cups refers to mass consciousness, superconscious activity, love, true love, easy flow, all-benefit-and-no-harm, ease and easy. Ace of Cups says he/she really loves you.
.

Ten of Wands.……… When the going gets tough, you get Ten of Wands. He is doing it all in one backbreaking load. He is bent down and life is hard, so depression is one of Ten of Wands’ branches. Ten of Wands means gradual, slow progress, and it expresses any kind of extreme, including words like ‘very’ and ‘the most.’  It means a long time too.

Tarot Readings for You for June 1, 2014 Sunday(c)

Guidance       Dealing with people is difficult.  The people are difficult; the situations are difficult.   Being wise to their ways helps.   Knowing about who the troublemakers are, and when they show up … that’s a help too.  Sometimes we just hide and won’t deal with the bad guys, the rude end of things.  Sometimes we have the insight, the psychological or esoteric savvy, to get a transaction accomplished with people who are not honest enough to live up to it without that talent on our part.  We suggest being at peace, being quiet within ourselves, as the way to get problem people to do their part.

.

……..………………………... High Priestess and Devil   High Priestess and Devil contrast the spiritual life with the dark side of it; contrast being quietly at peace with utter rudeness; contrast a ladylike gal with a scary person or situation, contrast being quiet and scholarly with being a brute.

……..…………………….Three of Pentacles and Devil    Three of Pentacles and Devil talk about people who are impossible to deal with, dealing with difficult situations, sexual relationships (since Devil means ‘sexual’). Devil is addiction and vice; Three of Pentacles is commerce. Here is where we get ‘drug dealers.’

Three of Pentacles and Devil are dealing with difficult parties, a difficult relationship, relationship with a bad guy, problems in dealing with people, people who are very hard to get along with, a sexual relationship, a pervert when you get to know a person, wrong for each other. We have deals in Three of Pentacles, so Three of Pentacles and Devil can be investing in a bad market, and a huge obstacle to settlement.

….…..……………………. High Priestess and Three of Pentacles   High Priestess is expertise, and is a knowledgeable and peaceable person; Three of Pentacles is dealing with, or deals. So dealing with nice people like yourself; her expertise is dealing with these people. Three of Pentacles is a relationship, so with High Priestess, we have a peaceful relationship, a relationship with a ladylike woman, or with ‘the other woman,’ since High Priestess can mean that. These two also simply refer to ‘her relationship.’ High Priestess is the mental and spiritual plane, so with Three of Pentacles, we have the esoteric expertise to transact business with these people. High Priestess can be a bookkeeper (or secretary) and Three of Pentacles is commerce.

High Priestess.…………..The receptive or female principle is represented by High Priestess. Magician is the male principle of action. So High Priestess often represents a woman, especially a quiet or ladylike woman, or a mysterious lady. It represents a passive stance, not taking action and not responding. It represents knowing, and spiritual knowing, and the whole spiritual plane – mental one too. The two pillars, the pomegranates, the crescent moon at her feet, and maybe the Egyptian headdress are Kabballic symbols. The book in her lap and the ‘secretary’ meaning make her at times a bookkeeper. She also represents being stationary, which brings up waiting and ‘staying with’ something or someone. This complex of meanings is probably how she will appear as ‘the other woman.’ She stays home.

Three of Pentacles…………The architect meets with his clients (monk and nun) with the blueprints of the building to demonstrate it is built according to plan and is finished, which entitles him to his final draw, the largest of his paychecks. Elements of this illustration create a few branches of meanings for Three of Pentacles: a meeting or a meeting of three people, negotiation, settlement, commerce or business, an exchange, a deal or to deal, doing one’s part in a relationship. It appears in romance spreads to indicate there is a ‘real relationship’ interest. Three of Cups is also a meeting of three people.

Devil ………….In Rider Waite, Devil is the Christian traditional horns-and-bat-wings fellow, so you find this card representing addiction, vice, brutish and rude people and behavior. It means ‘attachment’ and ‘physical’ as well. The core meaning is that people’s attachment to their lower selves, their vices and their dark side, is voluntary: Those chains around their necks are loose. Naturally, this is one of the cards about black magic, evil, evil spirits, perversion and depravity. It also represents illness when the illness is very bad, and disabilities.

Tarot Readings for You for May 14, 2014 Wednesday(c)

Guidance      Got a relationship, you got a problem … or two.   We delve into some of the common relationship sore points.  “Everyone has faults when you get to know them,” we say, suggesting sore points are no reason to be a total hermit.  “We can work it out,” one of the Beatles’ great songs, is our theme.  Each person works from his end inwards on a mutual situation, and we meet in the middle with most of the problem digested.  The more reasonable people there are, the faster the digestion is.   Reasonable people can’t smooth everything over, though: sometimes *being in a happy relationship* gives a few folks indigestion.  And sometimes hating a place, and sometimes a third party’s objections, are the ‘firmly set in place’ obstacle we would like to remove.   Then, we go into spreading sickness and getting well.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONSis a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Devil – Ten of Cups – Temperance

……..………………………….Ten of Cups and Temperance Ten of Cups is ‘happily-ever-after,’ one big happy family; Temperance is a one-on-one close relationship, a reciprocal deal between two people working something out together. These two Rider Waite cards are wonderful together. They both mean a good relationship, for sure.

……..…………………………Devil and Temperance So of course up pops the Devil, as they say. He ain’t all bad, especially in this good Tarot Verbatim™ company. Devil can mean ‘physical’ and ‘attachment,’ and here we have Temperance who means close and intimacy. And sex – don’t forget Devil means sex or lust. Devil is also an obligation, (along the lines of ‘having no choice’ or being bound). Today Devil means the problem mostly. He is the ‘hate’ of the love-hate relationship, and the sickness when we get into that subject. You have seen Devil on its best behavior today, right here.

Devil………. Devil is in good company today, he ain’t misbehavin’. In the company of only happy relationship cards, he is meaning milder things like: in spite of something, physical, attachment, sex, obligation, disrepair, ailment and sick, disreputable, bad times, problems (especially problems, today), the bad guy, unpleasant situation, being mad, pain, the hard part. And hate – even today. The point of today’s illustration is that the humans bound to Devil are wearing their chains loosely – that bondage to the dark side is voluntary.

Ten of Cups………. One of the happy relationship cards, Ten of Cups means things like home, circle of people, family, happiness, prosperity, the good people, house and neighborhood. Ten of Cups is people getting along with one another and enjoying the good life. You could call this ‘the American Dream,’ with the house on a corner lot on a golf course, a rainbow over the dream home, two ideal boy-and-girl children, and an embracing couple. Where’s the dog?

Temperance………. Water and wine being poured together suggests a back and forth, reciprocal motion, and intimacy. The symbol on the angel’s chest means healing. You can see how this back-and-forth intimacy calls forth ‘transmitting to another person,’ can’t you. Temperance is about dealing with another person closely, which includes an intimate relationship of course. ‘We’ and ‘our’ and ‘together’ and ‘partners’ are often Temperance’s contributions.
