Tarot Readings: Stay; Move Immediately; Move Gradually

I can stay, move immediately, or move gradually into something else.

Tarot Readings: Staying Put (Four of Swords)

To heck with the better future elsewhere: I’m staying put.

I slept through, and the bus left without me.

You haven’t headed out for those greener pastures yet?

I ‘fall off the wagon’ and then sleep it off.

.. …….…… …..

Tarot Readings: Getting Out (Eight of Cups)

You are headed out, and don’t abandon that course.

You already quit and are phasing out.

I gave up on staying – I’m leaving this place.

Nothing is doing here, so you will be leaving unless something unexpected happens.

Call it ‘time out,’ call it dropping out, I’m just on my way out.

.. …….…… …..

Tarot Readings: Getting Into Something Else (Six of Swords)

You are on your way to better times that haven’t happened yet.

All of a sudden, the waiting is over and things are moving forward.

You are on your way ‘at the crack of dawn,’ disrupting your sleep.

Have the time to get into what’s next, having got myself out of the rest.

In a holding pattern between what was just over, and what hasn’t happened yet.

.. …….…… …..

.

Four of Swords – Eight of Cups – Six of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… …..           Eight of Cups is leaving and so is Six of Swords. Eight of Cups is leaving quickly, and maybe involuntarily; Six of Swords is leaving more slowly and deliberately. They each have their back-story. They each are abandoning as well as leaving. They each can say ‘anymore,’ especially Six of Swords.

Four of Swords is staying, sleeping through it, and being indifferent to it.

So our message simply states the simple alternatives we have about many of the things we are doing, or that we are into: stay with it, drop it, or gradually phase into or out of it.

That’s it.

Both Eight of Cups and Six of Swords can say ‘not anymore’ in various ways. So they can cancel one another out by saying ‘avoid leaving,’ for instance. (Today, Four of Swords – meaning ‘to stay’ – encourages that.)

Four of Swords           Four of Swords lies on the coffin of the saint or hero of his church meditating on his life purpose as a knight. It’s part of the ritual that makes him a knight. So Four of Swords is a time out, giving it a rest, indifferent to it, not participating, sleeping through it kind of card. It’s neither here nor there; it doesn’t care.

Eight of Cups           Eight of Cups has many many phrases and applications but they all are about incompletion – usually by changing one direction for another. That is what you see in the picture: The pilgrim, still walking in the wee hours, has to change direction because of that mountain and river. Assumption is that he will get back on course, but that is not always true in the meanings of this card, just sometimes. This Eight of Cups stands for anything aborted, abruptly disrupted, derailed. It is about quitting, dropping out, running off the road.

Phrases for Eight of Cups, common ones: detour, leave, shortcut, avoid, anymore, disappears, off the road, dropped everything, abruptly, disrupted, bypass, another way to, suddenly turned, for a change, before it’s over, near-miss, alternatives, yet, called off, abandon course, default.

See the two phases of the moon together? This isn’t the only card that shows that. That is about the end of one thing and the beginning of another. It can support timing of a month, or monthly, if the idea is established already.

Six of Swords           Six of Swords is moving on out, moving on up, putting it behind, phasing out into something better. Times are going to be better, and you are going to a better place with Six of Swords. But it’s all better ahead because it was all bleak back there. Six of Swords is no longer hitting your head with the hammer. Six of Sword is it doesn’t hurt anymore, or it hurts less from now on, or the pain is improving.

Six of Swords comes by these meanings simply and honestly: The woman and child are leaving like refugees, being paddled away at dusk or twilight in a shallow open boat, escaping from here and headed to there.

.

Timing our life situation goes on quietly somewhere in our brain stem like the drip of a faucet. I’ll stay on this job until I finish my training that qualifies me for something else. I’ll stay with this friend or lover since I live in the neighborhood. Today we are looking at the open doors, the things we could do, and we are not taking any action right now, but there’s staying, leaving now, leaving later … as there ‘most always is.
