Tarot Verbatim
GUIDANCE From different perspectives, and in different stories, we examine the process of hearing about something, checking it out, and getting moving on it – pursuing. It’s the same process, we are supposing, whether the story is about pursuit of love, life purpose, medical treatment, a route to travel, or even an investigation. The gist seems to be to keep your ears and eyes open for something that you want to move on energetically.

Hermit – Judgment – Knight of Wands
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.……..………. Hermit and Knight of Wands have a few things in common, although one is a young active energetic redheaded fellow, and one is a wise old man. They are both on the road, and they are both pursuing (Knight of Wands) or looking for (Hermit) something. In the middle is Judgment which is about something they hear and about a change and about enlightenment. Pursuit is pursuit, whether it be the pursuit of love, life purpose or healing. Hermit is a doctor and Judgment is recovering. Hermit is searching and Judgment is discovery. Knight of Wands is in a hurry, and Judgment means ‘suddenly.’ Stories today, and lots of categories: Look at all the headlines we make today.
…………………….Hermit is one of those cards whose many elements give rise, in Tarot Verbatim™ to a number of categories, a number of different applications. Very comprehensive. Here is that comprehensive list from another post, quoted here for you, because many of them apply to today’s stories:
“ Hermit‘s illustration is of a service monk out on the road in winter night with a light to guide travelers to bed-and-breakfast at the monastery. Lots of material for phrases here:
Seeking, searching, search party
looking, watching, observing or observation, witness
investigation, investigating, investigator, surveillance, looking into
helping, watching out for,
friend, friend helps, supportive, caretaker, cares
good person, honest, humble and humility, sincere, low key person
guide (hence guidance, hence counselor)
Being on the road, trip, walk, on the Path, night travel, at night, road trip, comes to
old person or old man, mature, senior, sober
light (even a flashlight)
doctor, healer, medic or counselor,
wise, wisdom, enlightenment, understanding, analytical approach, the truth
pragmatic, practical and objective, person who knows, sober
celibate or monogamous, single or asexual, no sexual component, solitary, private person
religious person, and obviously a monk or a ‘religious’ – meaning personnel of particularly the Roman Catholic church who are monks, nuns, priests ….”
…………………….“Judgment too makes quite a few phrases due to the elements of its illustration. The angel blows his horn and awakens the dead, who are standing on the ocean, to new life on Judgment Day. Amazing and change are common words for Judgment.
*Judgment is one of the ‘talk‘ cards, specifically referring to a big announcement, publicity or press release, news, verbal and verbally, assert, say it again, declare, make a statement, and the verb ‘calls,’ especially when the call is an important part of the story.
*Judgment is one of the ‘recurring’ cards meaning new life, anew, another, again, flashback, switches (verb), new perspective, recovery or regeneration or ‘re’-almost-anything, reminder, repeat, say it again, re-do, return, returning to a former condition or position.
*Judgment is about entering a new phase and about a new consciousness, since the ocean in the illustration always stands for consciousness. Some of these ‘new life’ phrases are: eureka realization, enlightenment, epiphany, surprise, pops up, unexpected, near death experience, new phase, new birth, get well, new consciousness (the ocean).
*Look for Judgment to relate to any loud sound, alarm, hollering or screaming, honking or other noises. Once in a while, it even says ‘honked off.’ And of course it can also address horn music or horn players.”
……………………Knight of Wands is moving fast and is energetic. The illustration supports him leaving or fleeing (the look on his face, the rearing horse, the fact his weapon is not extended). Indeed ‘get out of Dodge’ and ‘run for the hills’ belong to Knight of Wands. However, this Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ does double duty for fleeing, and owns the phrases ‘hot pursuit’ and ‘hot to trot’ partly because this dude is another redhead (passion). So he will come up for the pursuit of a woman, for moving out of town, and for the avid pursuit of an interest.
Hermit and Knight of Wands get along well together to mean things like these: out looking, running around looking, an old man driving around, a friend who comes in a hurry, fleeing from a friend, honest folks move out of an area, quickly brings clarity, quickly leave when I take a good look at, rushes over to calm us down, I was calm as I headed pell mell, your friend rapidly.
All of a sudden you are really into some interest – person, place or thing – are ‘hot to trot’ as they say … something you didn’t give the time of day for, yesterday. Something … or nothing … gets you started, and you’re off. I once knew a fellow who was like that with books. He read hundreds of books … the first 12 pages of each. He was out of each book as quickly as he got in, and went from Shakespeare to motorcycles in a week. But we aren’t about that, specifically; we are about engaging wholly in one interest today.
Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

.
Hermit……..Hermit is an old man out on foot in the cold slippery terrain of a mountain with his lamp, patiently searching for travelers on that road that he can take home to his monastery and provide them the comforts of an indoor place to sleep, some prayer and counseling perhaps, and a hot meal in the middle of the night. Every element of this illustration gives rise to an application and some meanings and phrases – lots of them. I listed them, quoted above in Learn Tarot by Observing.
.
Judgment………….Judgment is as busy with disparate meanings as Hermit is. The dead are coming back to life when the angel blows his horn in Judgment’s illustration. Its most common applications are therefore about reverting to a former state, changing, a sudden new (anything), doing over (many words beginning in ‘re-‘), an announcement or any say/tell word or phrase, and again. Here are the phrases we use today: back, he calls you, what a switch, this time … now, comes back, enlightenment, when I hear, changing my ways, sudden new perspective, big change, start a new life, start over, is alarmed, comes to life again, changes the _ you’re in, telling, quote you, what you are told, what I’m talking about, telling me how to, tells you how, a reminder, next time, again, statements, restores, get over it, change. This list is a good example of the flexible applications you don’t think right away of when you phrase your reading of Tarot. For example, ‘tell’ also embraces ‘what I’m talking about,’ ‘telling me how to,’ ‘statements,’ and ‘what you are told.’
.
Knight of Wands…….Knight of Wands is about moving and hurry. He is easy to apply. Here are his phrases for today’s stories: pursued, get moving, quickly, in high gear, go out of my way, where I’m going, blow town, leaves, energetic, the mad rush you’re in, move faster, in a hurry, go about it, fast, get out of something, get in your car and go, get there faster, runaway, runs around, energy, running, midstream.

Tarot Verbatim
Guidance How to get there? That’s what we are *on about* right now. Reminding myself that first I decide upon a destination I desire. To decide, I investigate – I observe, watch and look around me. What are the road conditions, and can my vehicle make it on time? I get the knowledge, and I get the energy, and I get the willpower that it takes to get to my destination. I determine whether I should just quit or whether I can pursue this successfully. I determine which parts I can do quickly, and which will take some patience and be more gradual – the fast lane and the slow lane. Lastly, I remember what my driving instructor said, and I keep my mind on the road.

Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONSis a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Hermit – Knight of Wands – Chariot
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
………………..…..…………….. All three of these Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim™ are on the road, and are ‘on the way.’
……………..………….. Hermit Hermit is on the road patiently looking for travelers in distress that he brings help to. He stands for the objective sane view, truth, the facts, helping, and coming to another person (or place).
………..…….……….. Knight of Wands Knight of Wands is on the road in a hurry, or making fast progress, either running from (getting out of) or pursuing. He is energetic, as you can see from the picture.
…………….………… Chariot Chariot is on the road in a vehicle. Chariot also stands for purpose, aim, intent, ambition, arriving (getting there), success, and being in charge, being responsible, for a project.
…….…..………………………. Hermit and Knight of Wands Hermit is an old man, known for being patient and maybe slow or gradual; Knight of Wands is a young man, known for being hotheaded and going fast.
…….…..………………………. Hermit, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the slow lane
…….…..………………………. Knight of Wands, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the fast lane.
………..………………………… Hermit and Chariot Hermit and Chariot both have a purpose or mission. Hermit is out looking for souls in distress on the road that he brings help (and truth?) to. Chariot’s mission is to get a project done, to accomplish his ambition, aim, or purpose – by any means possible. While Hermit is honest, Chariot is going to get whatever he is dedicated to done by any means.
So our study today is about deciding on a purpose, checking out how best to do it, and achieving it. The main point is to look where we are going with our intended destination in mind. ‘Keep your mind on the road,’ as driving instructors say.

Hermit ………. . Hermit’s several applications arise, as usual, from his illustration: He is an older man, a celibate monk, out on the road at night looking for people to help. He is coming to them. He has that life purpose that he is dedicated to. He is honest, and, on foot in the dark with snow on his path, he is slow. Sincerity and friendship also belong in his word list.
Knight of Wands …………. Knight of Wands is an energetic doer, a young man. He is going fast, speeding in a rush – either pursuing or fleeing (depending upon the information the question or from surrounding cards). He is on the road going from one place to another anyway.
Chariot………. Here is the project manager, the man in charge, the special ops person too. He is known for strategy and willpower – for getting the job done by any means possible: He can be ruthless. He is skilled, and may be spiritually skilled too. Charioteers were the backbone of ancient armies.

Knight of Wands
Five of Pentacles – Hermit – Seven of Cups
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
Hermit and Knight of Wands are on the road. Hermit is on foot looking for people to help at night. Knight of Wands is speeding on the road in the daytime, and can be fleeing or pursuing. Hermit is a patient wise old man, celibate. Knight of Wands is a young impatient man who is pursuing.
Hermit and Knight of Wands together mean things like: out looking, running around looking, an old man driving around, a friend who comes in a hurry, fleeing from a friend, honest folks move out of an area, quickly brings clarity, quickly leave when I take a good look at, rushes over to calm us down, I was calm as I headed pell mell, your friend rapidly.
Hermit and Five of Pentacles: Hermit goes out to help; Five of Pentacles is in dire need of help. Hermit is the monk and Five of Pentacles is Dark Night of the Soul, a recognized phase of spiritual life, particularly for Roman Catholic mystics. Incidentally, Hermit has a walking stick and Five of Pentacles has crutches.
Hermit and Seven of Cups are looking for what is lost … or are lost and looking. They are a confused old man, they are brain fog from being up all night, they are looking at the pieces, they are looking for the needle in the haystack, they are taking a good look at this mess, they are clarifying the confusion.
Five of Pentacles and Seven of Cups describe brain fog in different ways. Five of Pentacles is numb with despair, trudging through desperate times. Seven of Cups is shock and confusion as things go out of control. Five of Pentacles talks about poverty, poverty of the soul, lack and disability and sickness. Seven of Cups talks about insanity, delusions and hallucinations, and things falling apart. (You don’t like to see them in one another’s company.)
Five of Pentacles and Hermit and Seven of Cups are all night scenes. Sometimes that is meaningful, especially when both Hermit and Knight of Wands are on the road, and Seven of Cups means ‘going out of control.’
Seven of Cups and Knight of Wands is going out of control at high speed on the road. It is also making a mess by being in a hurry. Just as …
… Five of Pentacles and Knight of Wands is losing something by being in a hurry.
So be careful today! Avoid brain fog! Remember, Hermit is clarity of mind, is understanding. So Five of Pentacles and Hermit is a lack of understanding and clarity. And Seven of Cups means befuddled and confused! Here’s the equation, okay?
+ = These could read “Looking for the needle in the haystack.”

Five of Pentacles shows a mother and son who are homeless and sick (Son is on crutches) in rags who are so benumbed that they are walking in a snowstorm past a cathedral where they could have food and shelter. The despair depicted reflects a phase of spiritual maturity that recurs called ‘Dark Night of the Soul,’ which is a title of one of the Western mysticism books.
A common meaning for Five of Pentacles is ‘lack of’ or ‘shortage,’ including bookkeeping matters. It means being poor, being homeless (losing the house), the ghetto, being sick, being crippled or injured, desperation and despair, and of course losing it all. Sometimes it stands for self-pity regardless of circumstances (“Poor me.”)
Hermit depicts a monk who goes out at night with a lantern to find and help travelers in distress. (In this spread, he is looking at them there by the church!) He is on the road at night. This Rider Waite Tarot card also means understanding, learning, a friend, a friend comes to (you), a friend helps, and a counselor or medical healer. It indicates that someone will come to you if that is the question. In our spread today, he is looking for something.
Seven of Cups Well, here’s the messed up, scrambled, lost things (or people or animals). Debris and detritus. Out of control. It describes the fix we are in when we bite off more than we can chew, when things go awry and we don’t know what we did to make that happen … like when we’re on the computer too long?
The illustration is based on the Pandora’s Box story or on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice story. In both of these stories, bad spirits are released from confinement and things are in disarray.
Knight of Wands is getting out in a hurry, by the illustration. His horse is disturbed, rearing, front feet up. The Knight’s clothes indicate some speed, and his expression is animated, maybe even fearful. In use, he will show up for pursuing as well as fleeing, but Knight of Swords is more obviously the pursuer.
