Hierophant and Page of Pentacles have a few things in common. They are straight men. They are about a good person, good image. Both are about everyday concerns, and both involve ‘types’ of people – images. Belief is another concept they have in common: Page of Pentacles’ main meaning is to think or believe, and Hierophant is accepting mainstream thought, and means religious – so you have religious belief that is mainstream.
Page of Pentacles and Hierophant combine ‘who I am’ with ‘should.’ So I am who I should be; I am moral. Hierophant means normal and ordinary too, so the two of these Tarot cards say ‘He is a normal guy’ or ‘an ordinary person’ or even ‘the right kind of guy.’
Page of Pentacles is ‘I believe’ or ‘his beliefs.’ Hierophant is the accepted philosophy, so I believe what everybody else believes – the accepted philosophy. I am conformist (Hierophant) in what I think (Page of Pentacles) is another way to express the same thing with the same cards. But Page of Pentacles is also thoughtfully examining something, so these two Tarot cards in Rider Waite also say ‘I am taking a good look at what I am supposed to think.’
Hierophant and Page of Pentacles are about having the right idea, being a decent person, being physically present – because Hierophant is ‘physical’ or ‘in the real world’ and Page of Pentacles is a person, an identity, is who you are. Hierophant and Page of Pentacles also are being a respectable person, a conservative middle-of-the-road person, someone who is acceptable to his fellow humans. It’s one of the ‘good-guy’ cards – and Hierophant, of course, is also good.
A few days ago, we had this same pair of cards – interesting.
HOWEVER, NOW WE ADD FIVE OF WANDS, OF ALL PEOPLE! Five of Wands is strife, being against, squabbling … as well as getting involved and putting one’s energy into something. So Five of Wands can boot all those meanings we just laid out for Hierophant and Page of Pentacles into conflict or fighting about them – or trying hard re them.

Hierophant Hierophant’s picture is of the pope (the Hierophant) doing the usual ritual in the church. Hierophant’s main meaning is this usual, routine, normal mundane daily protocol that we do on our average day. Hierophant’s main meanings include straight; sober; right; correct; proper; well-behaved activities; being in good shape; middle anything (including middle class). Hierophant also means anything mainstream, anything accepted, approved, or okay or straight. Some of its common words are: should, ought, official, physical, decent, harmless or no harm, good, respectable, clean, religious, safe, status quo, mundane or ordinary.
Hierophant stands in for any religion or religious ritual or ceremony, pretty much – respectable ones, of course.
Page of Pentacles Page of Pentacles has an idea, or is an idea. He can be looking at something or someone like he is looking at that pentacle, and can have an opinion, a thought, a notion, an idea, etc. Page of Pentacles often brings up synonyms for thinking such as belief, opinion, faith, consider, ponder, etc. He can sometimes be looking out for someone instead of looking at them. Page of Pentacles can mean ‘looking’ in the sense of how someone looks too – especially with the encouragement of Hierophant who means appearance.
Page of Pentacles is one of the identity cards, so it is about image, about ‘Who am I?’ or who someone is – what type of person. Page of Pentacles often translates ‘think’ and ‘feel,’ and also translates as pronouns ‘I,’ ‘he,’ and ‘you.’
As a Page, Page of Pentacles, when it is a person, is a young man. He is attractive and decent.
Five of Wands Five of Wands is obviously an action card – five fellows waving logs at one another! Five of Wands is energy, effort, being intensely involved, acting on, throwing oneself into activity – doing and doers. It also means trying and trying hard, and fighting for.
Five of Wands is also resisting or fighting, squabbling, battle, struggle, conflict, war, being assertive, opposing, a brawl or free-for-all or ruckus. It can be violence too – with a little help from its friends.

High Priestess – Ace of Wands – Nine of Cups

….. …….…… ….. Ace of Wands and Nine of Cups say ‘what you want the most’ or ‘having what you want most.’ High Priestess is not acting, staying in one place, knowing and spirituality. This is the meat of the message these three cards have to tell us.
You can’t get farther apart than High Priestess, the passive female, and Ace of Wands, brute force and male gender. We are deliberately ignoring the fact these three Rider Waite Tarot cards also say ‘wants to hit the woman’ or ‘the woman wants to be hit.’ No, we aren’t going there. But they could also say ‘want to clobber the other woman,’ because High Priestess shows up to represent the other woman.
In case you are wondering, as I did, why High Priestess, of all people, would be the other woman, I think it’s the combination of her staying alone in one place meaning and her secrecy meaning. In Tarot Verbatim™ the meanings are NOT assigned to the cards; the meanings establish themselves in real-life practice, and are duly noted.
Back to reality. High Priestess and Ace of Wands say ‘Knowledge is power’ because High Priestess knows all, and Ace of Wands translates ‘power,’ although brute force is more its cup of tea.
Ace of Wands and Nine of Cups say ‘all (you) want’ or ‘having it all.’ With High Priestess as the other contributor, it’s the quiet life you already have, and ‘you have it all right here.’ Of course, High Priestess and Nine of Cups could say ‘know it all,’ too, but so far they haven’t. They could say ‘all you want to know’ as well, which is more likely.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.
High Priestess The illustration shows a seated woman with the equal-armed cross on her chest and symbols of the Kabbalah behind and around her. Meanings of High Priestess begin with her position as the ‘2’ in the first four cards. There’s an esoteric sequence of meanings for one-through-four. Two is being receptive: knowing, rather than acting. So High Priestess’ main job is knowing, and she specifically is not acting.
This is a very occult card: She wears the crown Egyptian kings wore; she is surrounded by Kabbalah symbols; she has the moon at her feet; she has that book in her lap; and the ‘B’ and ‘J’ pillars are the ‘mercy’ and ‘severity’ poles of Kabbalah, which also appear in the bible accompanying the Ark of the Covenant. This is the card that can mean Tarot. This is the card for occult knowledge and spiritual expertise or spiritual life.
In real life, High Priestess is the lady (passive), stays in one place, is alone, is quiet, is secretive or knows the secret(s), is a woman alone, is sedentary or sitting, knows, is an expert, refers to spirituality and even the spiritual plane, is waiting, is patient, is not going to act or respond.
High Priestess can represent a secretary or bookkeeper (the book in her lap). She can also be the other woman.
Ace of Wands You see a hand with a club in it, and the club is sprouting. Ace of Wands is unabashedly male: The club is drawn to resemble a penis. This card means ‘sex’ more than any other, and it is about that male aspect of the sexual drive, and about fertilizing. Ace of Wands is macho aggression – is that herd-bull imperative to be Number One. It impels; it compels; it orders. It is assertive and it is aggressive. Ace of Wands often simply means ‘the most important’ as in the most important factor or vitally important to do. It often says ‘must’ or ‘got to.’
Note that the action of Tarot cards goes both (or all) ways. So Ace of Wands forces … or is forced. It reflects the ‘you made me’ as well as the ‘I made you.’ Ace of Swords has the same characteristic that a total win on one side is a total defeat on the other.
Ace of Wands belongs to the brute force theme, along with Ace of Swords. Five of Wands as the fight is part of that theme.
Ace of Wands means ‘absolutely’ and ‘certain’ or for sure.
Nine of Cups The chubby guy has consumed all those cups on the mantel behind him and is obviously feeling no pain. “I got mine. I have it all.” Nine of Cups is when you got what you wanted and are not only content but safunsified.

Both are about a good person, good image; both are about everyday concerns, and both involve ‘types’ of people – images. Three of Cups joins them to put an upbeat and social spin on their story, and to add a woman’s perspective, because Three of Cups is an all-woman Tarot card.
Three of Cups and Hierophant are having a good time (Three of Cups – see picture) in their usual way, which could be a party. Both of these cards refer to good people. It represents what we as individuals – and what companies, groups and organizations – project as official image … the cleaned up version of ourselves and them. Official reality … the news that’s fit to print … the official version. It stands for Establishment middle-of-the-road conservative consensus, for conformity as well as for decency. It is ‘normal’ or ‘usual’ too, as well as ‘accepted’ and ‘correct.’ Ceremonies and rituals are Hierophant. It also means harmless, well-behaved, respectable, the right way, and ‘the paper thing,’ like whose name is on a title.
Strength ………. is about overcoming bad influences and enforcing good behavior. The ‘eternity sign’ she wears as a halo, and the white robe with flowers, say she is spiritually pure and powerful. The lion whose mouth she holds shut while she makes him purr against his will is an attacker, intruder, or the opposition.
