Judgment – Magician – Eight of Pentacles

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..
….. …….…… ….. First, let me say I was trying to get a Thanksgiving theme, and so I asked ‘what to be grateful for,’ and this is what came of that.
Magician and Eight of Pentacles both refer to doing, and to making, and both are male. They bump into one another’s meanings in this spread: redundant. Sometimes, you just let the phrase be said once that each of them can make. (But watch for – in a larger spread especially – the redundancy to be emphasis, because when you say something twice you are emphasizing.) Together, they are ‘doing it over and over.’ And Judgment has ‘one more time’ and ‘re-do’ meanings. You could say Judgment = Magician + Eight of Pentacles.
Magician starts or initiates action; he gets it done too. He wills something to happen, and acts to make it so. Eight of Pentacles is doing the usual routine, which includes tasks and work but isn’t at all limited to those. One of his catch-all phrases is ‘one after another,’ and you can often expect ‘one (fill in another card’s meaning) after another.’
And who’s on Third? Judgment. Judgment is sudden, is a surprise, and watch for it to mean ‘re’ words because of the resurrection theme: recover, return, remind. Some of Judgment’s other themes are: again, new (new life, new phase, etc.), new awareness (epiphany or realization), waking up, announce (or say, or tell, etc.), and news. Judgment also refers to a loud noise or alarm. It can be ‘promotion’ too, with Eight of Pentacles’ workplace.
Judgment means both a new start and a renewal of a past situation. Renewal is a second time, which may be going back to a former situation. So Judgment, like Magician, means to start or initiate, but Judgment also means ‘another time.’ Then – look! – ‘another time’ is what Eight of Pentacles means. So this spread is a good example of interlocking meanings. When you – in real life – have this interlocking meaning situation, it is emphasis. The emphasis her would be on the fact that something new isn’t just happening, but someone is making it happen. Since Magician definitely does not mean ‘again’ in any way, the emphasis isn’t on that part. (Yes, I am splitting hairs, but we are here to get the verbatim meaning of Tarot. You go on from there to apply it to a situation, if you are dealing with one. Here on this site, we are not dealing with any situation or person: We are in empty space. There’s a difference, of course.
Our story lacks shape, here. Other than Eight of Pentacles referring to work, we don’t say what is being done, and done over and over. Nevertheless, we have useful information in the sentences.

Judgment The elements of the illustration here give rise to a number of otherwise unrelated themes for meanings. People coming to life again at the blaring of the angel’s horn suggests change, switch, doing something over, new life, new phase, new chapter, surprise, good news, returning to the way it was, coming back, recovering, doing it again, the second time, renew, being promoted to a better situation, an announcement (and therefore any word about telling, saying, etc.), and a loud noise or alarm.
All these changes and new phases are for the better, unless Judgment is heavily influenced otherwise by its neighboring Tarot cards, or by your question.
Magician Magician, as the male principle, is about action, doing, taking initiative, making something happen. He translates any form of the verbs ‘do’ and ‘make,’ and any singular male program. His phrases are things like ‘gets it done’ and ‘is the one to do it’ and ‘do it myself.’ He translates ‘I’ as well when it comes to
In the illustration, the man raises his right hand (with the magic wand in it) to heaven to bring down the result he wills, and his left hand to the earth … to anchor the result down.
Magician starts things and does things. He is all male – a doer – and not necessarily a thinker, because that is what Magician, as ‘the male principle’ represents in the practice of magic: action, and not being receptive. (And High Priestess is the opposite.)
Magician translates: to initiate, to make the first move, to take action – and any form of the verbs ‘do’ and ‘make.’ Any singular not-specifically-female pronoun is his: I, you, he, myself, yourself. Any phrase about accomplishing a purpose, including slang ones like ‘pulls it off’ and ‘brings it down.’ ‘Do it yourself’ doubly belongs to Magician.
Note that when Magician is used for action, the action can involve or be performed by a female or ungendered entity. Magician just can’t be a girl because he is The Male Principle of assertion and action upon the physical plane.
Eight of Pentacles A carpenter at his bench sets the tone for Eight of Pentacles meanings. Besides owning anything about work, work site, labor-anything, Eight of Pentacles is the doing or making of anything – the hands-on part. Eight of Pentacles is about consistent action, consistent effort, one thing after another, so watch for it to translate ‘keeps’ or ‘keep’ or ‘keep up.’ Eight of Pentacles (showing piecework) means a piece at a time, a routine. It’s one of the many cards that can translate ‘always,’ usually referring to ‘always does.’
Eight of Pentacles is the routine, the everyday workaday world, and anything repetitive. It’s ordinary stuff and ordinary people: You can think of it that way.
