Guidance

The good guys have got the situation under control. Speaking softly without much inflection gives a person an air of authority. When authority is accepted, authority speaks quietly and calmly, and all is well. When you assert your authority because you figure it isn’t going to be accepted, you raise your voice … ‘Get off the sofa’ to your dog children, say. A nervous voice gets scant respect from people or dogs.

King of Cups

King of Cups

Cups mean emotions, and Kings are adults and leaders, so King of Cups is an emotional older man or leader. The ship tossing in the water that floods his throne on all sides suggest he is emotionally unstable – hence, a weak man. The fish around his neck goes along with that and could mean Pisces. His look, and the fact he holds a cup in his hand, brings in the alcoholic theme. Note the lack of authority symbols on the back of his seat. He is ‘the emotionally available man’ and the ‘honey of a guy’ in relationship spreads. He stands for government itself, for bureaucracy, for a fellow with a desk job, a lackluster ordinary guy. Lou Grant. He does not come up for any drug but alcohol, by the way.

Chariot

Chariot

Chariot rules. No excuses. He accomplishes the mission, gets the project done, by any means possible, using all the factors in his success recipe, including the factors that should have been obstacles to his course. Chariot is ‘under budget and on time’ as the project manager. Strategy is his skill, and he can be ruthless. The sphinxes with colors the opposite of one another are magic critters that go in one direction, a turn. He hitches them so that they block one another doing this, and then controls their direction with magic wands as reins. You could stereotype him as a Marine.

Page of Wands

Page of Wands

Page of Wands is a young guy starting out who wants to succeed in his culture. He dresses the part, plays his role, stands up straight, and speaks well. This is the likable fellow, the sales guy, Prince Charming and ‘every mother’s son.’ Page of Wands often means to speak, to speak up, to stand up or stand for, to be the one who …. Page of Wands is one of the identity cards (like Page of Pentacles) that can mean ‘You’re the one.’

Now Without The Pictures

This crisis Tarot has been monitoring, the bad thing that doesn’t happen, is now over, and God’s back on his throne, as the poet says. (‘God’s on his throne and all’s right with the world,’ in case you haven’t encountered that.) Today presents the social aspects of authority as to tone of voice and demeanor. Emphasis is on the fact that when you are in control, you are comfortable with it, and you are calm. This applies to internal life to: What you are calm within yourself about is under control in your internal kingdom. What raises your metabolism when it crosses your mind, well, you haven’t put a leash on yet. You may not intend to, of course … we don’t have to control everything and there are always a few challenges left if you are still breathing.

King of Cups and Chariot  Here is the good man in power, but it also says government power, since King of Cups also means both a good man and anything governmental or bureaucratic. Here we see the masterful diplomat or diplomatic individual, since Chariot means masterful and King of Cups is the diplomat. King of Cups is mild-mannered and Chariot is in power, so you have a polite man running the show, or a diplomatic manager. Chariot is responsible, and King of Cups (as a king card) is a leader, so here’s a responsible leader or a leader who takes responsibility. Chariot is capable, so you have a good man who is capable. You can see a man who is comfortable (King of Cups) in his power (Chariot), who is unassertive because his power is established. And here’s a man who is in control of (Chariot) his emotions, because King of Cups is ‘the emotional man,’ evidence by his seat being surrounded by water. King of Cups is low key, and Chariot is the winning strategy, so the winning strategy is low key. Here is a sweet guy (King of Cups) who fights to win (Chariot) and wins the fight. Chariot, as usual, is a vehicle, so you got a government vehicle.

King of Cups and Page of Wands   Page of Wands is an identity card, so these two cards can take any meaning of King of Cups and put ‘A man who is’ in front of it. Both these cards are good guys. King of Cups means government, quiet-to-meek, drinking, bureaucrat, and diplomatic in addition. Page of Wands means young, handsome (sometimes a flirt), well-dressed, well-spoken, playing a role, and speaking in addition. You can see how these two would be companions. Together they are ‘the good guys’ or ‘those nice guys.’ Combining them, you get such phrases as: Speak quietly with emotion; speak calmly; speeches appealing to emotions; quietly, with words; and a father and son, both of whom are good people. (This has been an example of what you can do with multiple ‘court cards’ in your spread.)

Chariot and Page of Wands  are the very picture of self control; they even mean ‘Self-control’ because Page of Wands is self, and Chariot is control. They say the good guy has got the situation under control, which is the same thing King of Cups and Chariot say, because both King of Cups and Page of Wands are good guys. They both say the other things we have for King of Cups too, like ‘Nice guy finishes first, is a master at winning.’ Since Page of Wands means to be young, and to speak, Chariot and Page of Wands brings up such phrases as: He speaks with personal authority (Page of Wands is ‘personal’ in its ‘identity’ trunk of meanings.); He proudly fights to win (Page of Wands is also ‘proudly.); A man who is young is the named authority (Page of Wands is a young man, and Chariot is authority, and Page of Wands is also the name, or is named as.); Speak with authority; He looks and talks like he is capable; Gets things done with words; Speak and succeed; present yourself as the manager; The winning strategy is to have a spokesperson (since Page of Wands is about speaking.); The project manager is a well-spoken man; “I’m here to take charge” (since Page of Wands is to be personally physically present); He decides to present himself as (since Chariot is to decide and Page of Wands is about identity). Chariot is to achieve your purpose, so you get your purpose done by talking when you add Page of Wands. Lastly, he tells us it’s his car because, as you know if you read a few of these, Chariot comes across as any vehicle. Chariot is responsible and Page of Wands is a young guy, so when you put these next to an older-man card, well, Page of Wands is the responsible grown son.

Guidance

We picture the dynamics of two stereotype couples here. One is the woman who has ‘worked on herself,’ as we say, and the love of a good man is her reward. The other is an unassuming diplomatic peace-loving kind of guy, or a drinking man, who attracts a strong woman, or even a bossy woman. That’s all, so the one-sentence readings here are repetitious.

Synopsis

As to romance, we say opposites attract. The dynamics of the woman who wades in and straightens things out being with the man who is on the passive side is one example of opposites attracting. We all know couples in which this dynamic works beautifully, and couples in which it is not pretty. This is the meat of the message today, although there is minor mention of women in government managerial jobs.

Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands you can call The Mama, although that applies to her position in the work place as well as the home. She has The Look we are familiar with of an alert female minding the kids. This is a philosophy-of-life kind of look. Queen of Wands is a stereotypical Virgo female. This is a sensible practical woman, a hands-on female who is organized and organizing. She runs a tight ship wherever she is.

Strength

Strength

Strength is a deep card, one of those you could write books upon. When you solve something inside yourself, it doesn’t present itself in your physical events. Solve it on the spiritual plane, or the mental plane, and it vanishes as a challenge on the physical plane. Try this on for size: You think of the perfect squelch for something that keeps happening. You say to yourself ‘Next time he/she does that, I’m going to do this.’ And you never get to use it: The situation vanishes even though it was chronic before that. Strength is you taking charge and preventing interference, opposition, or attack.

You can think of Strength as the higher octave of Queen of Wands. Strength people have The Look too.

King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups is the mild-mannered man. He is peace-loving, passive, calm, and emotional. There’s a spectrum that goes from being the ‘together’ decent emotionally available civilized citizen to being the ineffectual or dull fellow, the lackluster fellow, the mealymouthed wimpy fellow. (Watch for a paired card to say ‘passive-aggressive.’) He can be a clerk in a government job, and, yes, he can be a drinker.

Mostly he is the quiet type, the nice guy or good man, the softie, a quiet sweetheart of a guy who is patient and polite.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

Notice we have three people here. Queen of Wands is the wife card (because she runs an orderly place and because Four of Wands is the main marriage card) and King of Cups is the calm sweet affectionate guy, is the older Knight of Cups really. King of Cups will appear for a ‘serious drinker.’ ‘In his Cups’ was a euphemism in olden times (Shakespeare, for one) for being drunk. So Queen of Wands and King of Cups are a great couple to be. Strength, here, spoils the soup: She is the assertive or bossy dame. She turns the story into a wife (or ‘his woman’) handling the man’s affairs, fighting his battles, being the dominant partner, maybe bossing him. But Strength also says she solves her own problems by being the sweet guy’s wife. Both stories can exist, of course, at the same time. Well, we picture a quiet guy whose assertive lady is his peace of mind too. That’s all we have to say here – that’s it – except for woman who have government jobs because King of Cups is also bureaucracy or government. P. S. These three also say ‘His mother brought him up to be a gentleman’ but I didn’t think it applies meaningfully to visitors, so I didn’t include it in the one-sentence readings.

Queen of Wands is the good manager, good wife and mother. Check out that look on her face: The mama’s got her eye on you! A flower in one hand and a board in the other. This lady is famous for being organized, for ‘running a tight ship.’ She is hands-on – nothing theoretical or foo-foo about her.

Strength is a higher octave of Queen of Wands; it puts spiritual overtones to the ‘straighten out’ theme. When you have overcome your own internal defects and demons, opposition evades you in physical reality. Solve it in your head, or solve a situation in your spirit, and you have cut off its appearing in your physical environment. Strength here is either rewarded for her internal achievement with the love of a decent man, or is the wife of a man who wants her to handle things for him. She can also be the ‘bossy bitch’ type, though, through the obvious domination Strength has in the illustration.

Strength exerts influence. Strength prevents opposition; Strength applies the solution. You see the woman holding the monster’s mouth shut. (Yes, she can stand for ‘shutting them up,’ or whatever the other pronoun might be.) One of its applications is overcoming weakness or overcoming addictions.

Strength is finessing a challenge. (It can express passing an exam that gives a person the right to practice a profession, for example.)

King of Cups does double duty in the spectrum of good decent loving man to habitual drinker. (Watch this Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ apply only to an alcohol habit most often. Other cards will come up for drugging.) He is the fellow with the desk job, the quiet man, the diplomatic man, the peace-loving unassertive fellow, and, yes, he is the affectionate man, the emotionally available man, the calm man. As always, look to the surrounding Tarot cards for the rest of the story.

King of Cups is also government or bureaucracy. That probably comes about by the concept of ‘clerical’ people being passive.

Queen of Wands and Strength     Queen of Wands and Strength both involve strong women, women who take charge. Without King of Cups, this story could be women opposing one another. It just doesn’t fit that way in this particular layout. Queen of Wands is straightening out her external environment as a manager of it; Strength is preventing opposition, is straightening out anything that interferes.

Queen of Wands’ got her eye on you; Strength’s got her hands on you. Both are enforcers of decorum.

Queen of Wands and King of Cups   Each of these people is at peace with himself/herself. Queen of Wands and King of Cups, as explained in the first paragraph of this section, are a good couple: The sensible woman who runs a household, and the emotionally available affectionate man. These two can also describe the wife of a drinking man.

Strength and King of Cups Strength and King of Cups is the assertive woman and the unassertive man. These two cards describe a woman who has overcome her own internal defects being rewarded with the affection of a decent man. Strength and King of Cups describes either a woman handling her mild-mannered affectionate man roughly, or a woman solving her man’s problems and handling his uneasy situations for him.

Guidance

To live outside the law,” an early Bob Dylan song says, “you must be honest.” We picture a nice lady and a nice gentleman in a dysfunctional or disreputable setting. There are skeletons in these closets, closets in both public and private life. There are secrets being kept and men being weaklings. Lots of quietly troubled people. We are all neurotic here. Some of us are misfits among peers, and some of us have married into families we would rather not know.

Synopsis

Are you in the setting you belong in? Sometimes you’re a misfit because you’re not in your right place, you know? ‘Bloom where you’re planted’ doesn’t go very far if you’re in acid clay soil in high desert and your kind of seed belongs in the tropics in sandy alkaline soil. We picture a man and a woman who are planted in a wrong place for them, and tell some stories about them.

High Priestess

High Priestess

There she sits. She takes no action; is not doing. That’s what she does: stays in one place, by herself, knows, knows secrets, is the quiet type, is an expert, knows esoteric wisdom. She can have a desk job, be sedentary, be a secretary. She stands for the female principle of receptivity (rather than action. Action is the next card, Magician.) In a reading, she is a quiet woman, a sincere good person, a woman who is staying, may be waiting, may be ‘the other woman.’ She is spiritual – even represents the spiritual plane; and that can be the mental plane as well. Although she is the nice girl, and passive, this card is never the victim. If you ask about that, High Priestess can be in a wheelchair.

King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups is the non-macho man. If he is assertive, he is probably passive-aggressive or in his ‘government’ spectrum of meanings. This is the good man, the sweet guy, the gentleman, the quiet type, the patient low-key man, and the emotionally available man. When he is a powerful man, think Mr. Putin’s type. King of Cups is also the bureaucrat, the pencil pusher, the fellow with the desk job. He can be the neurotic weakling type too, the fellow who tells you ‘You’re not fair.’ I hate it when he whines!

Ten of Pentacles

Ten of Pentacles

Ten of Pentacles represents the downside of the social order, represents being with people you conflict with or have contempt for – or who feel that way about you. Relatives, neighbors, associates, your circle, companies, agencies and organizations that annoy you. In short ‘those’ people, or feeling like a misfit. A tense or hostile atmosphere that you are not just passing through but are engaged with in some way. It embraces both elite and low-end environments (See that picture?), the mob and the power people, the street gang and the folks you are told you vote for.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

“What are nice people like you, Ms. High Priestess and Mr. King of Cups, doing in a place like this?” we ask. Here are a quiet man and a quiet woman paired a bad environment. They are paired with ‘trouble with other people’ or ‘other people who are trouble,’ which includes relatives or a bunch of high- or low- level criminal types. These are our stories today.

In Tarot Verbatim™, Ten of Pentacles is the wrong side of the tracks – is people who are trouble or the people who are troubled. It stands both for powerful families and for the mob. It stands for politicians and the no-class neighbors. It stands for being handicapped by, or detesting, the culture you are part of. Ten of Pentacles is dysfunctional relationships, quarrels, hostile atmosphere. It is the negative family card, and only gets promoted if the other family cards have already appeared.

Why is Ten of Pentacles the negative family card, and by extension any undesirable group? Well, look no farther than the inter-generational family quarrel pictured on it. Grandpa the tyrant has declared some grief that Son is passing on to Wife. Son stares off while Wife earnestly discusses something, and the squalling kid pulls at her clothes. What OTHER meanings would this scene produce?

High Priestess and King of Cups  High Priestess and King of Cups are the male and female equivalent of one another … nice girl, nice guy. Quiet people, lady and gentleman, the good guy and the nice lady.

High Priestess also means to stay, to be private, to keep a secret (It also means the word ‘secret.’), to not do or not take any action. She is passive but is famous for knowing all, even for knowing spiritual secrets. She is also ‘the other woman’ by virtue of the combination of ‘secret’ and being by herself waiting for something to happen that she does not initiate.

King of Cups also means the emotional man or the emotionally available man. He can be the openhearted sweet guy, or the sniveling weakling, depending on his setting. King of Cups is also a bureaucrat, and, by extension, government or government-related.

Today King of Cups sits next to Ten of Pentacles. That puts ‘government’ next to ‘corruption’ and the mob. King of Cups is a dysfunctional relationship with a gentlemanly type who may be neurotic, especially with the whiff of Ten of Pentacles there. The shady side of this combination of Rider Waite Tarot cards is abetted by the ‘secret’ spectrum of High Priestess.

High Priestess and King of Cups can say ‘nice guy with something to hide.’ And see how you have ‘secret’ next to ‘government’? We could be cooking up a conspiracy story if we added a card about talk and/or one about doing something.

High Priestess and Ten of Pentacles puts the secret next to the mob. Oops. It also has a nice girl in a dysfunctional relationship, or a secretary to some disreputable organization.

Guidance

We have all met him at one time or another: the quiet, polite, unassuming man who is in complete control of himself, his emotions, and the deal he is doing with people. A man who comes off as meek has an advantage in most confrontations. A powerful man who has the confidence to treat you as an equal is a winner before there’s any contest. The gentlemanly style also is a huge advantage in love affairs. Another topic today is dealing with a government or bureaucracy.

Synopsis

Dealing forcefully, or dealing diplomatically. We are looking at power in relationships and deals, and making a point that the soft approach benefits a very powerful person (or entity). We apply this to intimate relationships equally well – even more so. The soft touch of a fellow is the champion at pairing up.

King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups is the emotional man: See the water around his throne? This can be a weak or vulnerable man, or a drinking man, if the question or another card brings that into the inquiry. The expression on his face reflects that stance. King of Cups has the soft diplomatic approach. Today, for example, he is the powerful man who has the confidence to deal with others as his equal. He is also the sweetheart, the emotionally available partner in an intimate relationship – especially today, paired with Temperance. This spectrum of meanings is to be found in all the ‘people’ cards and in all the court cards. It has to be, since we are covering all personality types with a set number of cards in the deck.

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords is the naked blade of no compromise, no middle ground – is force, orders, being dictated to or issuing an ultimatum yourself. Ace of Swords is the champion, the winner, is ‘got it licked.’ It isn’t a threat today, but it is intimidating today.

Temperance

Temperance

Temperance is a main relationship card; and it’s the back-and-forth motion that meanings flock to in this picture. But the back-and-forth is not literal as it is in Two of Pentacles. Nope. The back-and-forth relates to communication, to response and reciprocity, to intimate communication – heart-to-heart stuff. Intimate partners is a common translate for Temperance. And like Lovers – another relationship card that often is about two people – Temperance means ‘partners’ in any sense. Temperance goes further and means ‘together,’ and two people together.

Besides the intimacy category, Temperance is all about being together, getting together, being friends or buddies, best friends or close friends.

Temperance very often is dealing with, making deals – offer and exchange situations.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

Here we have a quiet man, gentleman, or even a bureaucrat (King of Cups);

winning and being powerful (Ace of Swords);

and a deal or dealing one-on-one in a reciprocal way (Temperance).

Ace of Swords also says ‘intimidating.’

Temperance is also an intimate relationship.

So, we have stories.

King of Cups and Ace of Swords is a quiet man who is total control – of his emotion or whatever a nearby card contributes. It is intimidating a good guy. It is ‘I gotta have this sweet guy’ romantically. It is being dictated to by some agency of government.

King of Cups and Temperance is an intimate relationship with a sweetheart of a guy – or being that sweetheart of a guy in that intimate relationship. (Action goes either way in Tarot.) It is also dealing with a government or agency or bureaucracy, or dealing with a gentleman (as in a gentleman’s-agreement sort of transaction). It describes dealing diplomatically too, and having the soft approach in a negotiation.

Ace of Swords and Temperance, you can see, is ‘I gotta have an intimate relationship’ or being forced to deal with something or someone. It is also forcing that someone or something – or that agency, too – to deal with you, or to reciprocate. (This could describe a Freedom of Information Act process.)

Fool has a lot of meanings that spread out from this main puddle. He means optimism; youth; to assume; being personally free – a free spirit.

Today we visit a duo we all encounter: The patient quiet affectionate man and his vocal female counterpart, the critical complaining whining nag who is sometimes also known as the Ex or Mama-Bat, a woman who drains the energy of others with her pity party and her righteous indignations and accusations. Emphasis is on the constant talk that exhausts. We also describe a couple whose mutual love gets them through the dark night … and the weariness of missing a departed love.

Tarot Readings: Love of a Good Man (King of Cups and Star)
King of Cups   Star

She misses the sweet guy who says ‘I love you’ but she is angry.

She is doing without her good man, she misses his love talk.

He has no money, he drinks, and the old lady adores him.

The widow of an affectionate man misses the good feeling.

He and she are so poor and they love one another so much.

He loves her and tells her she is beautiful, which makes the old lady feel inferior.

He is happy being broke but she complains she is doing without.

He drinks and feels sorry for himself but loves his elderly mother.

I feel so bad when mama talks about how daddy loved her, how she misses him.

Tarot Readings: Nags the Quiet Man (King of Cups and Queen of Swords)
King of Cups Queen of Swords

I was feeling so good until she regaled me with how bad she felt.

She talks too much, she nags the quiet man until he feels inferior.

She mourns her losses and talks a lot bitterly to this patient guy.

He lost every dime but is so happy he lost the ex too.

She is so negative she drains all the positive energy out of a well-meaning fellow.

Her constant bitching drains his energy and drives him to drink.

Mama-Bat drains every last dram of energy from an emotionally healthy man.

He speaks so well of her, and she is so critical of him, she runs him down.

Tarot Readings: Her Needs Are Not Met (Five of Pentacles and Queen of Swords)
Five of Pentacles Queen of Swords

He does not meet her expectations, he fails to be the optimistic gentleman.

Tell the man sweetly how he doesn’t measure up to what you need.

Five of Pentacles

Five of Pentacles

Dark night of the soul, bums on the street with bleeding feet passing by a church that would be their refuge if they weren’t so numb they didn’t see it. To be so down you are there to stay. To miss what you have lost, to do without, to have no money, be poor and feel inferior, to feel bad, to drain energy or have your energy drained, to lose everything. To do without, and what you are doing without. To feel sorry for yourself. To have a pity party, ‘poor poor pitiful me.’ “I’ve been down so long it looks like up to me.”

King of Cups

King of Cups

No shoulders hath he, and the fish around his neck tells you he is the softer man, the emotional man, the quiet man, maybe the weaker man, the bureaucratic type. He is the sweet guy, the good man, the affectionate man, he loves you, he is your honey, he is happy and content with his lot. He is the gentleman, the patient guy, and the drinking man. Aspected that way, he can be a neurotic type.

Star

Star

Star feels good all over, is singing in the shower, is healthy and optimistic and has positive energy. Star is one who says ‘I love you’ and stands for love talk or adoring and being adored. He tells her she is beautiful. It is also constant talk (chatter, confession, spilling guts … any kind of talk). That is what we are using of Star today. Illustration shows a happy ritual bath.

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords today is negatively aspected and shows up in her worst light. She is an angry unpleasant complaining bitter wench, ex or Mama-Bat, the woman who drones and whines on vampirizing your energy. The elderly mother, the critical wife. That’s all she is today. The illustration is of a woman who lost a baby or babies, and she is the widow card in Rider Waite as well.

Now Without The Pictures

Today we again have a pair of cards having the opposite tone of another pair:

Five of Pentacles and Queen of Swords are miserable about a loss and/or are miserable losers. Both of these describe doing without and missing. Queen of Swords is often missing someone and Five of Pentacles people are often missing their life – but both cards refer to both cases. They tend to translate as the same phrases along this vein of being deprived.

Queen of Swords is bitter, (nag – whiner – complainer – demanding) and she is also a reliable ‘bitch’ card, and feels very entitled to what she is doing without. Her outstretched hand is saying “NOW would be good.” She represents Mama-Bat or the ex. She can be a widow or a woman who lost a baby.

But sometimes Queen of Swords is a strong woman, is holding someone up to her standards. This card can be advice to be more demanding, more the bitch.

King of Cups and Star are emotionally healthy, especially star. King of Cups is the calm type but he can be neurotic in the right company … can’t we all? Both King of Cups and Star are about positive emotional love. King of Cups is the quiet, patient, affectionate man who can also be a drinker – the bureaucratic type, I call it.

King of Cups and Star When you put King of Cups and Star together, an affectionate man is saying ‘I love you’ because Star means to talk, and specifically to say ‘I love you’ and ‘You’re beautiful.’ These two cards in Tarot Verbatim™ say ’emotionally healthy.

Star and Queen of Swords   When you put Star and Queen of Swords together, you have a complaining, nagging, unpleasant (old?) woman chattering away, regaling you with her gripes. Queen of Swords is lacking the joy Star has.

Five of Pentacles and Star Five of Pentacles is poor health but Star is vibrant health. Five of Pentacles is miserable, and Star is joy. Together, these two can say ’emotionally sick’ or emotionally drained.

Five of Pentacles and King of Cups is an emotional drain, whereas, King of Cups and Star is emotionally healthy.

Guidance

The good people are a community, a mindset.   They are good men, often quiet, and the women who marry them.   Then there’s people who are respectable and live a comfortable life, people who marry well, don’t make waves, fit in, and are happy.   People move into and out of this mindset, this community.  A person can get into this and leave his lesser life behind, or put this way of life behind for some excitement, and hardly feel the loss.  So people leave the well-adjusted life, women leave the good man, the good marriage.   That’s okay, that’s life.   Other people are coming in.

Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups

Happily ever after living in the happy (suburban) community where everyone is prosperous and gets along.  The happy marriage.  Married with children – a boy and a girl, of course.  The good people.  This can get Pollyanna and turn into the moral majority on us.  The illustration is the house on the golf course with lots of land, a rainbow over the manse, the Mr. and Mrs. out hugging one another whilst the kids skip around, well dressed. Ten of Cups translates ‘people’ and ‘everybody.’

Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Society wedding being celebrated here uniting two families.  This is the good marriage into the good family … in the sense of ‘marrying well.’ It is about headquarters, building, affiliation with a group. Four of Wands is likely to be conservative if it represents political parties or organizations.

Six of Swords

Six of Swords

Six of Swords puts the loss behind for better days ahead, leaves a bad scene, gets out of there, escapes, moves from one place to another, or from one home to another. It is often a depressing card in Rider Waite Tarot.  A woman and child are leaving in a friend’s crude boat, like refugees. It tells you better days are ahead, which is a comfort.

King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups is that mild-mannered bureaucratic, sweet natured guy, maybe sentimental, a Marcus Welby type sometimes, sometimes the stereotypical quiet drunk, the weak man or the good man.  He is the ‘too nice guy, I just love him like a brother’  that women talk about.  The illustration in Rider Waite shows his throne surrounded by choppy water … emotionality.  He has that look on his face of a man who usually defers to the herd bulls.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

Ten of Cups and Four of Wands are the two ‘happy marriage’ cards. They both also mean family, community, a group of people, well-adjusted prosperous respectable people. They both mean houses, and Four of Wands is sometimes a public building or headquarters (as in Justice and Four of Wands being the court house or the police agency).

Four of Wands means the leading family or families, power people or Establishment, any organization (agencies, clubs, companies, political associations, etc.).

Ten of Cups is happily ever after, a home, the suburbs or a good neighborhood, one big happy family, the good or friendly or well-adjusted people, friends, being happy, living together,

Continuing in this vein of happy well-adjusted respectable folks is King of Cups. His spectrum of meanings embraces the good man, your honey, the bureaucrat or a fellow with a desk type job, a gentleman or polite man or man with manners (or ‘mild-mannered man’), a patient forbearing man, the one to make peace or compromise, the drinking man or alcoholic, ‘the quiet type.’ He can also be the weak man (or be seen as weak), dull or lackluster, a Walter Mitty type. This can be the guy that women say is too nice, and ‘I love him like a brother.’ (She can simply be the type to be looking for a nogoodnik with pizazz.)

Ten of Cups and King of Cups is a happy marriage with a good man. It is ‘happily ever after with your honey,’ and ‘the man marries you who is your current love.’ This is the ‘married with children’ statement, suggesting these are his kids.

Four of Wands and King of Cups emphasizes a groom from good family, marrying well by marrying this particular member of that particular family, and also is a bureaucrat in an agency, company or other organization. It reads ‘headquarters of government.’ ‘The gentleman is married’ and ‘family man’ too.

Six of Swords is about leaving a bad scene for a better life – better because this life can’t get any worse. It also means putting your (sorry) past behind and heading in a wiser direction. It is about distancing oneself from anything, or drifting away – or about being the one left behind as another person drifts away. Although it talks about a depressing circumstance, it is comforting that things will get better, that the worst is over. Sometimes it indicates that something bad is really for the best.

The gentleman comes around to tell you he is back and he loves you.

Now Without The Pictures

A pair of today’s Tarot messengers mean both ‘to go back and forth’ and ‘to come back.’ The two others both mean a loving person. So today we have a clear emphatic message: He loves you. If you’re a guy, you are (or will be) crazy about someone. It’s that emphatic.

Two of Pentacles and Knight of Swords both mean he is coming back, and both can also be about back and forth. Knight of Swords switches back and forth, and Two of Pentacles also has a back-and-forth cycle in its repertoire. But Knight of Swords is more ‘to pursue, and Two of Pentacles also means ‘continuing’ or ‘on and on.’ Knight of Swords can be passing through town in a hurry, too.

King of Cups is your honey, is the emotional man, the sentimental fellow, the man who adores you, the man who feels, the warm fuzzy fellow.

Star is to be crazy or enthusiastic about (a person or anything), to confess love, confess feelings of affection, and to feel good all over.

So our message is loud and clear: The man is in love. But he could be a ‘dance-away lover,’ someone who comes back and gets cold feet again.

Tarot Readings for You for April 13, 2013 Saturday(c)

Here you are, on edge, nervous, worried, anxious … your emotional side dominating your day. But relief is coming in the form of some happiness, some fun. It’s on its way, just you wait. That’s today’s message from ‘out there,’ and that’s all we have to say.

Sun

Page of Swords – Three of Wands – King of Cups

3 Tarot Readings: A Good Man’s Good Future (King of Cups and Sun)

Thrilled that the man is going to be free of his emotional baggage.

He is someone you let your hair down with, this is going to be exciting.

He is such an upbeat and low key fellow, I am on pins and needles looking forward to this.

This deep feeling he is going to be free gets his blood moving.

A good-natured man is going to be fun – I’m psyched.

He will be leaving where he lives now as the tension makes him drink.

He is feeling so happy about his future, he is looking forward to it.

He will be as excited as a kid looking forward to what is going to be.

Tarot Readings: Being Anxious and It Goes Away (Page of Swords and Sun)

Work isn’t getting on my nerves; things there are all right.

Having this money coming in relieves some tension when you’re as emotional as he is.

When things get on his nerves, leaving the house will bring him peace.

I am getting away from being edgy about the future, and calming down.

Anxiety is relieved, you are going to be a calm person.

Being a playboy will make him an emotionally strung-out fellow.

Anticipating a coming vacation when I will relax.

Tarot Readings: Kid, Children (Sun)

A kid is on the way whether you are anxious or whether you are calm.

A child is excited about Daddy’s coming.

He is emotionally looking forward to the coming of his child.

Children will get on the nerves of even the calmest fellow.

Page of Swords and Three of Wands are both looking forward to something. Page of Swords is worked up about it – is anxious or thrilled or psyched anticipating whatever it is. Three of Wands knows something profitable is coming his way: He is sure of it, and is calm. Both of these Tarot cards are male.

King of Cups is also calm, but is emotional too. This is a person-card; its spectrum goes from the very dull bureaucratic personality, to the sweet-natured loving man, to the emotionally complex or conflicted person who has a habit, usually alcohol. It can be a government or corporate entity too.

Then there’s Sun, with its list of various meanings held together by its illustration. Today Sun is fun, a child, relief, being uninhibited, leaving home, vacation, and being free.

Here you are, on edge, nervous, worried, anxious … your emotional side dominating your day. But relief is coming in the form of some happiness, some fun. It’s on its way, just you wait. That’s today’s message from ‘out there,’ and that’s all we have to say.

Page of Swords This is you in your ‘energized’ state, whether the energy is being thrilled and excited, feeling threatened and paranoid, filled with nervous anxiety, having the jitters as things go ‘bump’ in the night … or whatever. We see him whirling around, brandishing his weapon on a windswept knoll surrounded by miles of … absolutely nothing.

Three of Wands It’s coming. You can see it. You know what it is: It’s your paycheck, your profit, your package in the mail, your future, and it’s all good. Three of Wands is waiting for your ship to come in, and that is the illustration: Very simple.

King of Cups The gentleman, the emotional man, the good guy, the man who loves you, the calm man, the bureaucratic. Sometimes the drinking man (or another soporific). Water symbolizes emotion, and he is surrounded by water, and holding a cup he is drinking from. His expression is the illustration is a little anesthetized, you think?

Sun Here we see a boy child playing naked in the back yard, bareback on a wicked pony, and he is without clothing in the summer sun, having the time of his short life, arms akimbo. We can only ask Pony for mercy. Sun’s various meanings are held together by its illustration. Today Sun is fun, a child, relief, being uninhibited, leaving home, vacation, and being free.

Tarot Readings for You for March 25, 2013 Monday(c)

Our main focus today is on a shift within a male person from being repressed or secretive about something, to openly … brazenly … declaring himself to be in control of his situation, to being the master of his circumstances. It is a rebirth for him from being the repressed – and possibly alcoholic or addicted or dependent – to being master of those circumstances, master of his life.

Chariot

Four of Pentacles – King of Cups – Judgment

4 with Miscellaneous Tarot Readings: Having Control Over the Situation (Chariot)

Not expressing his feelings until he has control of them.

Don’t have enough control over emotions? – that’s going to change.

An unobtrusive guy is just waiting to declare himself and take charge of things.

I have not said anything about my deepest feelings: I control all that.

He is reticent to declare he is the leader here, being more the quiet type of man.

The way he takes control so dramatically makes other men not express themselves.

A quiet but very competent guy like him can effect change without calling it that.

Don’t call me the leader, I’m the vice president.

He is the undeclared project manager, the power behind the throne.

He is quietly in charge, he doesn’t have to raise his voice.

Tarot Readings: Your Sweet Guy Loves You But (Four of Pentacles and King of Cups)

Yeah, he just can’t say ‘I love you,’ but your honey does things definitively for you.

Your guy can say ‘I love you,’ but he doesn’t act it, overtly.

I told my guy who was so repressed to declare himself.

Since my guy is off sulking, I am switching to a winner.

Tarot Readings: Not Stifling Myself Anymore (Four of Pentacles and Judgment)

I am keeping my weakness a secret until I recover the ability to be in control.

Secretly, he is an alcoholic; he aims to change that.

I am quiet – repressed, even – about my ability to change.

Deep down inside, I have an ambition to change from being the guy in the background.

I got control over my drinking now, and I don’t have to talk about it.

I am giving the commands now: I used to stifle myself.

Miscellaneous Tarot Reading

There’s a gag order in the decree that weakens our control over the situation.

Four of Pentacles and King of Cups are repressed, have a weak point, are very emotional, and are male folks. We speak of ‘deep down inside’ stuff here, emotional stuff that a guy does not admit readily to. King of Cups represents ‘your honey,’ as well as the guy who loves you, and a fellow with an emotional weakness which extends to alcoholism, or any deep secret a fellow feels insecure about because it has control of him, rather than him being in control.

This theme of a fellow being in control is underlined by Chariot, which – upfront – means a man in control, the project manager, the fellow who rules his situation or circumstance.

The remaining card, Judgment, is change, and also means declaring or a declaration. A new life, a new regime.

So, do we have drama, or what?

Our main focus today is on a shift within a male person from being repressed or secretive about something, to openly … brazenly … declaring himself to be in control of his situation, to being the master of his circumstances. It is a rebirth for him from being the repressed – and possibly alcoholic or addicted or dependent – to being master of those circumstances, master of his life.

Four of Pentacles Holding it in, repressed, deep down inside stuff a guy does not readily admit to, but feels insecure about and is secretive about. We see ‘The Miser,’ a fellow hugging himself and sitting in the road outside of town. There is stuff this fellow really doesn’t want to talk about, deep down inside stuff. He is broke or at least short of money. He feels inferior. He may be excluded from the society he belongs to. He has something to hide, possibly hide from himself.

King of Cups He is emotionally repressed, a weak or weaker man (or feels that way). He represents your honey, the guy who loves you. He represents a fellow with an emotional weakness which extends to alcoholism or other ‘ism, or any deep secret a fellow feels insure about because it has control of him rather than him being in control. King of Cups is also the quiet fellow, the diplomatic fellow, who is in control in a calm way behind the scenes … the vice president. His illustration shows a vacant expression on a fellow whose seat is surrounded by a flood. Bleary-eyed?

Judgment The angel blows the loud horn on Judgment Day. It awakens the dead. They revert to a former condition (being alive) and have a new phase or new life. The horn is a decisive declaration. Here is a new regime, a new life. Here is a change, a shift. Judgment has many meanings that begin with ‘re.’ Rejuvenation, revert, re-live, etc.

Chariot Here is a man who upfront, overtly, is in control. He is the project manager, the fellow who is in charge of this situation or circumstance. Taking responsibility, being in command, stepping up to the plate and taking charge: This is Chariot’s native habitat. The illustration (You have to look closely.) shows him controlling the movements of his steeds (sphinxes, magic creatures) with a wand rather than reins. There is a longer story about how sphinxes go only to the right or the left. He has one of each (indicated by the reversed colors), and has hitched them so they have to go straight because they are in one another’s way. So the idea of Chariot is: Use the factors that are mitigating against your mission for it. Tack against the wind, in sailboat language.

It’s all about love, and it says the same thing over and over in different words.  I captured as many sentences as I could without getting silly.

Ace of Cups is love, true love, a flow of feeling.

King of Cups is a man who loves, has feelings, is vulnerable, is a good man and a good guy, a quiet man.

Page of Wands is the type of person, is a handsome fellow, a good young man, is respectable and well-spoken and well-dressed.  It means ‘to talk.’

Nine of Pentacles is a quiet and private woman who has a life of her own, minds her own business (and expects you to do the same).

There’s no action for a story … just the ‘talk’ of Page of Wands.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Nine of Pentacles is a quiet and private woman who has a life of her own, minds her own business (and expects you to do the same).  You see her in her robe at high noon in her vineyard with her falcon, a lady of leisure.  The nearby snail says she does things in her own good time.

Page of Wands is the type of person, is a handsome fellow, a good young man, is respectable and well-spoken and well-dressed.  It means ‘to talk.’  He is ‘fair-haired’ boy, meaning everybody’s favorite, at times.  Here is a blond young man standing proudly, declaring what he stands for.

King of Cups is a man who loves, has feelings, is vulnerable, is a good  man and a good guy, a quiet man.  Who maybe drinks a lot.  He is the fellow with a desk job.  Water snaking around his seat tells us he is the emotional type.

Ace of Cups is love, true love, a flow of feeling.  That’s all it is today.  You see the five flows which represent (Middle Ages concept) the five ‘humors’ or bodily fluids flowing after being blessed by the dove, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit and therefore love (and God and goodness and health).

I N S T R U C T I O N S & Explanations (Comments are below this.)

Did you come here just for your predictions?– If so, you are done when you finish reading the sentences of Group Analytical Tarot Cards Reading.

Each Tarot sentence is a literal-interpretation reading of the scenes pictured on thefour cards you see. Only what each of the cards says – phrase by phrase – no fillers – no psychic ability used. The readings are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. Tarot, all by itself, talks to you. This is a demonstration of that .

Tarot will address any group flexibly, as it does here of ‘all the visitors.’ (It can addressall the people at work who have a say in my raise,’for instance, without you knowing who or where those people are.)

Horoscopes are group readings too.

Astrology has to be based on someone else’s birth data, though, so it does not solidly apply to you just because of where the sun was when you were born. (Astrologers know this.)

Emily wants to know whether these sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than for people who have come only a few times. Would you help with a comment, if that is who you are? Please?

Without a questionto focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no, never or not.’ That negative modifier can apply to any one of the cards.

Without a questionalso the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel veryfree to substitute. Notice how, as much as possible, we drop pronouns, which makes for some awkward phrasing.

The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! In a ‘real’ reading, the parties are identified (including the gender of the questioner!), and so is the time frame if there is one. In this group reading, we cannot do that, so we have variety.
