Tarot Readings for You for November 8-9, 2018©

GUIDANCE    Oh the contrast between the Manly Man and the Brat. A guy can get away with stuff and still be treated like a grownup these days in the U S of A, but the man who occupies the sober leadership John Wayne role is a completely different animal, and we all know it. (He’s the herd bull.) Women are looking for the reliable man who’s good for his word, he’s the Prince they kiss all those frogs for.

King of Swords is the leading man and the man who leads. This is the stereotype ‘strong silent type,’ the father, the boss, the man of discipline who is responsible. John Wayne. The man of his word. The Authority. King of Swords means: authorities, military, police, powerful man (or men, sometimes), commander. The manly man – and the manly role. You see him sitting upright, comfortable with holding that heavy sword, staring at you with those steely eyes. Once in a while, King of Swords will stand for one of the words that are his traits, especially ‘authority.’ He also speaks for anything military even in the realm of politics.

.

There’s an aura of honor to King of Swords. It can be the police, not seldom if it’s police brutality. Likewise, a military massacre would bring up other cards than King of Swords, most likely. However, King of Swords is the militant as well as the military, so it can represent wanna-be militia-type fellows, and it can represent a militant attitude. Even a woman’s. King of Swords can be hardass too.

.

King of Swords may be the card with the fewest meanings.

Sun            Sun has a spectrum of meanings, but they are truncated (trimmed) by its proximity to King of Swords, its polar opposite meaning that also applies to male gender. So today Sun is the too-young charming boy or brat, player, fun, vacation, lightweight, charming, impulsive, fling, escape from and getting out of, and childhood.

.

Its picture shows a tyke who has escaped from the discipline and rules of the house to cavort naked and recklessly on a wicked pony.

Two of Swords      A glance tells you this is a negator card. It has the usual boring negator meanings – the ones with lots of apostrophes. It means: no, not don’t never, stop, isn’t, cannot – and so on.

.

The pictures shows a woman in night dress or slip, blindfolded, sitting at night on a stone bench holding long heavy swords in crossed arms, so that putting them down would be tricky if they were anywhere near sharp.

Are you a man or a boy?” comes up today with King of Swords, the manly man, the leader of men, and Sun, the little brat or child. The authority of King of Swords – his main attribute – contrasts with the charm of Sun. This axis is the line women tend to divide their men into.

.

The other Tarot card is a negator. Most of Two of Swords’ meanings can be expressed as negative contractions. Similar meanings appear for Death and for Four of Cups: These are negator theme cards.

.

That’s our story. No action words, just making the distinction about the different styles of manhood.

.

There’s a measuring stick in the back of just about everyone’s mind for manhood rank, for where a fellow places as to living up to the code of the role of manliness. John Wayne, in the U S of A, is the measuring stick. Does he keep his word?; is he a protector of whatever ought to be protected?; does he have the guts to stand the world down? Lots of styles of manhood are accepted, depending on who and where you are, but there’s always a code for men, whereas if you’re born female, by golly, you’re a woman.
