Tarot Verbatim
GUIDANCE Today you are in Deflect Mode, being a blowfish. There’s some undeclared conflict in the air, some attractive hazard, someone who, you never know, could rock the boat hard. You are ducking out on being in the middle when two people whose trigger fingers itch come face to face on the same turf. A potential showdown you did not buy a ticket for. Having taken the pulse of the situation, you are acting in such a way the conflict doesn’t want to come see you, and you are skirting the issue or bypassing a clash. The smart alec leaves the fighter alone. Your act is casual and your act is subtle, but your act is nevertheless decisive.

King of Wands – There’s a clear-cut dichotomy to King of Wands that our other two cards today bring out for all to see. King of Wands is half husband and half married man. Of course there are plenty of husbands who live in fighting mode, but here we have an announcement (in Six of Swords) that says ‘those days are over.’ So we have a picture of the fighter in retirement, of the hellraiser who has settled down into being the family man.
Five of Swords – Five of Swords lives to beat the competition. He is the born herd bull, the fellow who shows other fellows who’s boss. Today he faces another fighting man, though, and may chose to avoid the conflict he usually relishes. That fighting man is of course King of Wands, the wild man. And Six of Swords pictures the retirement from the scene and moving on to better times.
Six of Wands – It’s time for another chapter here, time to leave the scene for something better than this. Could be leaving in defeat to fight another day, and could be wiser and moving on to better ground. Regardless, it’s that that way anymore, whatever way that was. Getting over it, overcoming it, putting it behind and looking ahead now.

.
This is an interesting one. We have two abrasive-to-abusive men, one (King of Wands) who is the edgy grump and/or fellow with the temper and one (Five of Swords) who steals, takes advantage (of friends too), picks fights, and may be a violent punk. So, are we in trouble?
.
The other card, Six of Swords, averts a bad scene – leaves to a better scene before the worst actually happens. This leads to stories about the bad guys relating to one another instead of to what we like to call ‘innocent victims.’
.
King of Wands is the card that in Tarot Verbatim™ means ‘husband.’ Six of Swords leaves for a better future. So we have a story about a husband leaving for a better scene, or a husband being left for a better scene. We also, though, have ‘departed husband’ because the departure theme of Six of Swords, and the journey over water, bring up the concept of ‘the departed.’
.
Six of Swords also means … very often, so watch for it … ‘not anymore.’ Often, there’s a word between these two that says what it is that ‘isn’t anymore.’ Here, we have ‘isn’t pushy anymore’ with Five of Swords, and ‘isn’t angry anymore’ with King of Wands. King of Wands as the husband can also be the father, and can be the rough guy (along the lines of the man with a temper and the working man), so we have this sentence in which the rough guys (plural, Five of Swords, the fellows who are fighting with swords) avoid (Six of Swords) Daddy because he too is a rough guy.
.
Six of Swords means ‘I got over it’ along with ‘putting it behind.’ So he got over being the grumpy guy, King of Wands, and got over the battle with the loan shark – because Five of Swords is the thief, bully, mugger, and rip-off artist, which includes thieving companies.
.
Stories. We got stories today. We are about overcoming (getting the best of, Five of Swords), and we are about getting over, and we are about avoiding. Whatever we are about, ending with Six of Swords is kind of a happy ending.

GUIDANCE Being passionate about life is being uninhibited: The two traits are found together often. Being uninhibited may go along with having a temper or going around half-mad most of the time: frustrated, irritated, cranky and grumpy. We are suggesting that a freespirited detachment counterbalances these other traits, producing a beautiful love of life for the parts of life that aren’t aggravating, and a talent for ‘water-off-a-duck’s back’ for the parts that are.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..
….. …….…… ….. Fool, you could say, is ‘not with us.’ As the zero, the cipher (the nothing), Fool isn’t affected by its environment, and yet affects its environment. (You add a zero, and the value is ten times as much, but the zero still has its same ‘nothing’ value.
This is how Fool gets most of its meanings. It is free, free of its situation or unaffected by its environment; it is ‘not present,’ … so Fool isn’t going over the cliff, nor is his puppy. (God protects Fool and drunks.)
Six of Swords is getting free, is withdrawing from its environment to enter a new and better phase. Fool is feeling no pain, and Six of Swords is getting over theirs.
Both Six of Swords and Fool refer to good times ahead (optimism) in different ways: Six of Swords is putting some bad times behind and the future is better because the past is terrible; Fool is simply free of taking the physical realm too seriously.
Six of Swords and Fool are also both free of (Fool) or getting free of (Six of Swords). They both can refer to a new phase, with Six of Swords phasing out of one thing and into another, and Fool starting something new.
So Fool and Six of Swords have these parallels. Who’s the other guy? Well, he is a guy: King of Wands is what Christians refer to as ‘the natural man,’ the impulsive man. King of Wands is the common man, the married man, the workingman, and the fellow who has no pretensions. He is uninhibited about his passions. Put him with Fool and Six of Swords, and you have someone who lets it all hang out, Fool, or you have someone who has put all that behind him, Six of Swords. We have these two different portraits from the same set of cards – nothing unusual about that.
Fool and King of Wands are both ‘acting naturally,’ as the song goes – acting on instinct. None of our cards, and none of our stories therefore, involve self-restraint, or any restraint.
.

Fool Fool Fool, World, and High Priestess make the statement that being attuned to higher consciousness insulates a person from the mundane physical world and its concerns. These three cards are attuned to a different drummer, are in a mental and spiritual world of their own. Fool, in his (or her) state of being free, free-minded and free-spirited, is not going to go over that cliff with his pet, in spite of not looking where he is going.
Here are the real-world applications of Fool. Fool is the devil-may-care attitude, being oblivious to reality, ignorant of the facts, who ignores. He also acts as if – or acts as if not. He is about assuming, not minding, not caring. Fool ‘don’t know nothin’. Fool is oblivious. Fool ignores. Fool acts as if, or acts as if it’s not. Fool assumes, doesn’t care.
King of Wands King of Wands Here’s a real guy. He thinks real-guy thoughts real-time. He has sex on his mind, he is uninhibited and potentially aggressive. King of Wands is the married man, is your or her husband. He lives in the physical world, where he is a doer. He is the workingman or roughneck; the angry, irritated, edgy common feller. He is also the decent hardworking husband, father and provider. He is the passionate sexy uninhibited impulsive fellow too.
Six of Swords Six of Swords A woman and child in a crude open rowboat on a gray day are leaving, moving on out, with no possessions. Time to move on to a better place, a better life. This one is used up. Phasing out of this and into something … anything … better. This is an intensely emotional, but in a resigned way, card. Six of Swords covers both the ‘leaving’ part of this scene and the destination part. Out of here and into something else. Today it’s also getting carried away by that feeling, that emotion, that impulse.
.
.
.
.
You lived through it – it made you mad – you’re free of it. “You don’t make me mad anymore because I don’t care anymore.” Letting my subconscious steer me out of whatever is so annoying, because higher consciousness slowly puts lower consciousness beneath it. So I am gradually leaving mean-spirited me for freespirited me. So edgy these days, but my faith is taking me to calmer waters.
