Knight of Swords – Other cards choose which of his contradictory meanings he is using in your spreads. He is often about change and always about speed (suddenly, rush, hurry), but what is changing, and the direction he is rushing are usually determined by neighboring cards. He often ends up meaning ‘not anymore’ and ‘recovery’ or ‘got over it’ because of the change theme. As to his directions, he can pursue; he can flee or ‘get outta here’; he can go back or reverse or switch; and he can represent a turnaround or even (rarely) a regression.

You simply look to him last after you have figured out the other cards. Often, he ends up making some distinction for you. He is by no means useless.
Ten of Wands – You see overload here, slow going, too much, exhaustion. Ten of Wands is about those times when a person ‘does it all in one load.’ His backbreaking endeavor draws words like: overwhelming, too long, after all this time, at last, a big (whatever), depressed, a complete (whatever), everything, it takes a while, so much, always, indefinitely, the whole thing – and even ‘very’ and ‘all.’ Today it makes Hanged Man’s thoughts deep, even.

Today it does something a little different. Hanged Man’s strong urge gets to be a ‘very’ strong urge with Ten of Wands.
Hanged Man – Think of Hanged Man as an antenna. Incoming intuition, realization, psychic impressions overload his awareness to the point of his being disoriented. This is a picture of the brainstorm or the brain-fog (or both). This is the way a person feels when his or her psychic awareness phase come upon him or her. Think that Buffalo Springfield song ‘Hung Upside-down.

Words and phrases like ‘got a feeling,’ ‘mindset,’ ‘connect the dots,’ and ‘strong urge’ belong to Mr. Hanged Man. He is all about feeling and enlightenment.

Hanged Man’s most frequent words are ‘realize’ (in all its forms), know, and feel. Other common translates for Hanged Man are: mind, intuition, subconscious, it strikes me, inspiration, enlightenment.

Hanged Man should mean ‘sacrifice’ but for me it doesn’t. It does for other readers not using the Tarot Verbatim™ system. Its picture is about several myths in which the hero of the story sacrifices a body part (for All-father Odin, his eye) to gain ‘wisdom,’ which you find means psychic gifts. That is how the picture here gets the meanings we have talked about.
