How I should spend my time in the next year is a better way to put it. I could travel the world, I could go back to school, I could go back home and get another job. Or something I’m not yet seeing or thinking of.

Prestigious universities overseas (Oxford University; L’ecole Polytechnique, and others) have classes in English that result in degrees, and they are far far far cheaper and far more respected internationally than U S universities are now. Bonus is that getting a job overseas is a LOT easier if you are not a United States school graduate. Tuition is a mere $5,000 at some of these schools. Stansberry Research (financial newsletters) is where I learned about this.)

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.……………….…….. High Priestess knows all, is not acting, and stays in one place. As the Tarot card that (by its number, esoterically) represents the feminine principle (receptivity, not action), when it is a person this High Priestess card is a ladylike passive woman. Knight of Wands is the polar opposite: He is energetically rushing full speed ahead into or out of something, is a young active and motivated male, and has nothing to do with knowing … he is chasing something, usually. And the other card? – It says ‘this way or that way,’ one or the other. We itch, in this spread, for any kind of ‘do’ word; we don’t have it. We are talking about the idea of the contrast between being passive and being active – talking about sitting or running, talking about being motivated to get moving, or staying put.

High Priestess……….. High Priestess is the eye in the sky, is She Who Knows. (This Tarot card can even represent higher education or an advanced degree.) She is quiet, the kind of quiet that can give a person pause. She is the type who can sit with you in the living room and not say anything. This is a card for a person who is inactive, sedentary, who stays in one place. This is a card for someone who doesn’t talk about some interest or activity to other people. All of these traits are for whatever cause, for whatever reason.
If you ask if your job will involve travel, for instance, High Priestess is a decisive ‘No.’ If you ask ‘Will she call, or do something?’ the answer is ‘No.’ If you asked ‘Does she know …?’ the answer is ‘Yes.’ As a matter of fact, High Priestess sometimes even translates ‘She does not.’ High Priestess can say ‘not do anything’ the same way Four of Swords does. (Theme)
The illustration is very esoteric: Those pillars belong to Kabbalah; they represent the mercy and severity poles that Kabbalah seems to be all about. They may have some connection to the two pillars associated with ‘the end of the earth,’ past which dragons live. I’m not sure about that. The moon at her feet; the pomegranates behind her; her crown – and of course the title of the card: All these are esoteric. She is the spiritual expert. High Priestess even represents the spiritual realm or plane – or the mental. This Tarot card also simply means ‘expert’ or ‘expertise.’
Knight of Wands………… Knight of Wands is as far as you can get in every respect, item by item, from High Priestess. She is a seated sedentary woman who is learned; he is a horseman who is in gung-ho pursuit or flight, reflexively – no pause for reflection here! Where she is in calm repose, his facial expression is one of fierce engagement or even panic.
Knight of Wands brings up both these phrases: hot pursuit; getting out of Dodge. He is running, is in a hurry; he can represent a rush job, or the feeling you get when you are rushed and leave your keys absentmindedly in the door. That’s why he means ’emergency’ too. He often shows up with medical cards to be a paramedic.
Constants for Knight of Wands are speed and energy. So any kind of fast movement or rush, and remember ‘energetic’ belongs to him as well as ‘energy,’ and these are words that can be used in their rarer meanings as well, such as the ‘energy work’ of New Age.
Knight of Wands is getting ahead, with all this speed, and is making fast progress. Both Knight of Wands and Two of Pentacles can mean ‘on the way.’

Two of Pentacles………..Two of Pentacles is rich and crowded with meanings, partly because its illustration is divided into two contrasting concepts. The juggler’s movements are precise and he is deliberately repeating them. He dances while he juggles, so great skill can be involved. Timing and cycles and movement – in all sorts of ways – are the phrases and words that arise from this part of the illustration.
The other part of the illustration (sometimes overlooked) is the terrible waves tossing the ships behind him. The words and phrases that arise from this picture are about instability, and uncertainty and shaky situations.
The timing part gives rise to words like: often, frequently, sometimes, ongoing, recurring, routine, periodic, cyclic or cycle, incessantly, over and over, keeps happening, again, next, keeping something going (keep _ing), continuing, continuance and continuous, in the process, on and on, comes and goes, becoming … and I probably forgot a few.
Another branch of Two of Pentacles’ mighty meaning tree is movement. You can see – and you will sooner or later use – all these and more: up and down, back and forth, in and out, ’round and ’round, spinning, whirling, stirring, rocking, turning around, going on and on, going through the motions, rhythm, dancing, turning this way and that. And of course these phrases don’t always apply to the described motion itself, but to the ins and outs of something, or going back and forth making a decision, or coming back to, or rocking the boat, or getting around to something, or going along with something, switching sides, etc.
Now we zero in on the back and forth motion, because it grows on you. You know that motion of the hand: fingers extended and spread, and you rock it back and forth, meaning ‘it could go either way’? Two of Pentacles means that, and it expands it to embrace alternatives, duality, any contrasting pairs of anything. The pairs are often meanings from surrounding cards.
This branch of Two of Pentacles’ meaning includes (and is not limited to): either/or, neither/nor, iffy, might, maybe, must be, alternative, each and every, something else, only some and not the rest.
The ships being tossed on the waves bring in, as I said above, instability, and uncertainty, and shaky situations. This part of Two of Pentacles’ meaning places the card in the ‘out of control’ theme cards like Seven of Cups. Here is where – and remember this – you get ‘if’ for one of Two of Pentacles’ meanings. Here is where Two of Pentacles means vertigo, nausea, waves of nausea, dizziness and dizzying. ‘Upset’ is another one.
Next is the silly-looking costume the juggler is wearing. (Page of Cups is about strange dress, and about humor, so these two Tarot cards can make either of those themes when they appear together.) Here is where words like these appear for Two of Pentacles: goofy, goofball, antics, silly, craziness, humor, acting up, comic.
Lastly, this is a performance. Star is performing too. Judgment is playing a horn. It’s rare, but picking up this theme sometimes is so gratifying; it sometimes ‘makes’ a session when you are reading another person’s cards.
I assure you, as comprehensive as I have been about Two of Pentacles meanings, that some are not mentioned here. Memorizing them is something we do, but that isn’t the point. The point is to get the concept that the illustrations project, get the mood or moods, and then the cards speak to you that way.

No, motivation to act, and actual action, spring from independent wellsprings that may or may not access all these things. Our will decides.
