My question is:: I have 2 men in my life right now and I’m confused about who I should choose. I suppose it would help me decide between the two if I knew how they feel about me.

Nine of Wands – Judgment – Knight of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.………………. Here are things that both Judgment and Knight of Swords mean: change, sudden, sudden change, changing back the way it was, going back, reverting, again. Aren’t I glad that Knight of Swords can say ‘not anymore,’ and that Judgment is a new phase or even a whole new life, new perspective; and that Judgment is one of the say/speak/tell/announce cards? – because these give us some meaningful sentences here. We look to the third card of our spread for direction. Nine of Wands is nervous about all this change, and is defensive – including defensive about what he said – he takes it back.

…………………….Nine of Wands is in the wrong place at the wrong time, defending something indefensible but hanging in there. He can be cornered, guilty, oppressed, in a standoff, putting up with something, sweating it out, trapped, cramped, under pressure, intimidated, nervous, threatened and in dread of another onslaught. And more. He is also defending his position, manning his post, managing to function while wounded, worrying, hanging in there, and bravely standing up for his position. Beleaguered. However … not so much, today.

Today Nine of Swords has not one but two Tarot companions that get him out of all those threats. Standing next to Judgment makes ‘afraid to say,’ which is a good choice to make if you are in the fear-cafeteria. On a good day he could be just waiting.

…………………….Judgment’s illustration suggests quite a few otherwise-unrelated words and phrases. People are alive again, as the horn awakens them (an alarm, a loud noise). A change, sudden, a sudden change, new life/perspective/world, good news, a realization, news or notice or announcement (which includes say, tell, speak, etc.), recovery and relief, going back to the way things were, responding, again. The new consciousness is not only the idea of regeneration but also the ocean location: Ocean represents mass consciousness.

……………………Knight of Swords says relief is on the way – that there is a turnaround – when it pairs up with a scaredycat like Nine of Wands. When it means ‘not anymore,’ it acts as a negator. Knight of Swords mainly means speed, rush, hurry and such. It means to pursue, which matches the picture, but also can be about fleeing, turning around, or even returning. It can talk about a shift, and it can say ‘not anymore’ or even ‘again.’ This is one of those cards that you don’t look at first; it isn’t specific enough for that. Most people who read cards will not have that many contradictory meanings for this guy, I suspect.

In the throes of change, we tend to be uneasy – even when the change is for the better. Moving day, new job – whatever it is, it involves us accommodating to it, jarring us into mindfulness. We compare it to saying the wrong thing and having to backtrack. A whole new world is blossoming, and we need a new perspective now that it is upon us.

Nine of Wands………Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Fighting a losing battle. Hanging in there. Facing accusation, intimidation, harassment, taking and defending an unpopular stand, untenable position, uneasy and on edge, dreading something happening again, dreading the return, expecting consequences, under stress, anxious, and even feeling guilty: These are the kinds of things that belong to our Nine of Wands. The head wound can be literal, or can be about a headache. You see Nine of Wands, you look for a neighbor card that will trivialize or negate these meanings. Judgment next to him makes ‘afraid to say,’ for example; and Knight of Swords next to him says ‘get out of that tight spot.’ So today Nine of Wands is in good company. Since he is a border guard in the illustration, that too can be literal; and he is a soldier on duty as well as a wounded veteran.

Judgment………….Judgment will cover a new situation, returning to a situation or former state, a repeat of anything, a sudden event or sudden realization, a recovery, any kind of change (usually for the better). The angel is announcing with his horn, which brings up all the news, notice, publicity, speak, say, tell words, as well as words that mean realize. Judgment, with it’s ‘realize’ meaning plus the angel, is compatible with vision and enlightenment themes, and with a new awareness. The people coming to life enhances this new awareness and new phase category of its meanings..

Knight of Swords…………Knight of Swords mainly means speed and pursuit and high energy, but it is too general to trust a meaning for him until you see how he fits in; Knight of Swords is a bit of a chameleon. Knight of Swords will show up for fleeing, for a switch or change, for going back where you came from, turning around or a turnaround, a reversal (including reversal of fortune, but that is fairly rare), avoiding as well as avid pursuit or even hot pursuit. The speed is a sure thing: He can be a rush job, for instance, or the ‘haste’ of ‘marry in haste.’ He and his horse are flying … and, by the way: Horses don’t run that way; they keep two feet on the ground.
